Importing JPEGs produces wrong duration

I'm importing JPEGs into FCP 6.0.6 into my project. I went to User Preferences > Editing tab and set the still/freeze frame duration to 00:00:10:00 and when I import the images they come in with a time of 08:10 ???
I've tried it at 4 seconds and they come in at 3:10, then tried 1 second and it worked correctly.
Very odd, any idea what's going on?
Thx
Kevin

Import your jpeg and load it into the viewer.
Click on the clock icon in ULHC and set your desired duration.
Works for me.

  • Export collection as jpeg produces wrong format for Clikpic website

Lightroom 1.3.1, high spec pc, Windows XP, ACD,etc. I have a website with "Clikpic". Before starting with L/R I had a Photoshop action to save for web at 600x600@72dpi etc, images from which then upload fine into Clikpik. I thought I would use the L/R "Collection" option to select some images from a recent trip, then use the "Export" option to save in the required Clikpic format - if I use that and then try to upload, I get error message "CF_IMAGE INFO:Format Not Recognised". I then went back to my own old Photoshop Action to do the same thing with the same image and that one uploads fine. Both images come out around 60Kb. What is wrong with the Lightroom process? Has anyone else had this problem? I have posted the query to Clikpik support too.

One difference between LR export and PS save-for-web is that LR will imbed the image's metadata in the JPG and SFW only maintains copyright info (in PS3) or nothing (prior versions). So could Clikpic be seeing some metadata in the LR export that it doesn't like?

  • Iphoto crashes importing jpegs

    Hi-
My iphoto keeps crashing when I'm trying to import photos from the desktop that I have altered in Photoshop. It was importing them with no problems and now it keeps crashing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I've encountered a similar problem attempting to import jpegs produced from scanned photos (canoscan 8400F), which I have done successfully in the past. I still can import photos from my camera. The "unexpectedly quit" report follows. Any ideas?

  • Elements imports Cineform .avi at wrong duration

After importing 21 Cineform .avi files to Prem Elements11, 4 of them showed up in the Project Assets at the wrong duration. For example, a 9'33'' length clip appeared as 2'24''. In each case, roughly the first quarter of the clip is there, but the remaining three quarters is gone.
Is anyone aware of a fix for this?
Cineform .avi files are created by the Cineform Studio software supplied with GoPro cameras. Prem Elements can handle the camera's raw MP4 files fine, but the Cineform software is essential for flipping clips recorded when the camera is upside down.
As an alternative, could anyone recommend a file converter that can flip GoPro raw MP4 in batches and convert them to a file format that Prem Elements can handle?
In my case, the original GoPro footage was recorded at 1280x720 and 50fps. In Cineform Studio, I flipped the clip and output it to .avi at 1280x720 and 50fps in high quality. I'm running Windows 7.
    Thanks.

With all of us not being able to get back into adobe.com or the forums, I started to write replies in Microsoft Word so that I could copy/paste further comments the minute Adobe got things working again. The following is what I got done so far...
The Cineform.avi issue is a known one which is not unique to Premiere Elements.  The extent of my information on this problem and are detailed in this thread. GoPro’s denial about working with that user is not understood. It was a good idea to seek a second opinion from GoPro.
I would encourage you to try to import the video (.mp4) direct from the camera rather than go the conversion to Cineform.avi. If you want to export your .mp4 Timeline to Cineform.avi, that is another matter.
    Considerations...
Your project settings and export settings may be factors in your report of “sub-par” .mp4 files in Premiere Elements. When you talk about “even after rendering the .MP4 files”, are you referring to render as in Timeline rendering to get the best possible preview or render as in the export sense of the word?
Here we should make sure we are OK with project preset versus properties of the source media, H.264.mp4. Are you letting the program automatically set the project preset based on the properties of the source media. If so, don’t. Set the project preset manually. The following link gives the general how to for a manual setting of the project preset.
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2013/04/pe11-accuracy-of-automatic-project.html
You may be working with a 1080i30 project preset if you are letting the program make the call. We could discuss how to edit HD 4:3 footage in Premiere Elements with all the HD sets 16:9.
As for the fisheye effect correction. True, you cannot do that in Premiere Elements. But there are programs that can, including many versions of Photoshop.. Have you read the following thread
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1282151
What you  want to do with the Timeline...edit the 960p and export it as what...960p or other, with or without the fisheye?
At another forum I worked with a Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 user and his GoPro footage (he loved 960p) and got magnificient results.
I will be traveling until this coming Monday afternoon. I will try to check into the threads daily, but my replies may not be delayed somewhat. Hope not.
    More later.

  • Import JPEG files become corrupt

I'm making a slideshow and when I import JPEG files, a large quantity of them will import, but on the display they show up with lots of green, blue, and purple highlights...in fact, thats about the only colors you see. I can't find anything wrong with the files, they open in all other CS4 apps just fine. I tried different methods of importing and reimporting but it doesn't change. The same files still show up all corrupt. I opened the files in Photoshop and saved them again as a JPEG and it's still the same problem.
    TIFFs are the same way.
If I open the photos in Photoshop and save them as PSD they work just fine (other than the much larger file size) and PNG files work fine as well.
I have several hundred photos to put in this very lengthy slideshow so I'm looking for a fix without having to batch all the files to save as PSD which will each up my hard drive space.
    Thanks!
    John

I am a big fan of keeping images in .PSD format and ascribe to John's suggestion. I even did an ARTICLE on automating the resizing in PS, prior to Import. While primarily written for use with an NLE (where I create the vast majority of my SlideShows), the same applies to Encore.
    Good luck,

  • Color space conversion problem when importing JPEG's

    Hi,
I'm currently playing with the trial version of LR. While importing JPEG's with different color spaces (sRGB and Adobe RGB) to LR I've noticed a strange effect: There is a small but noticable difference in color, depending if the JPEG was previously saved in AdobeRGB, or sRGB. All the images I've tested so far should not contain critical colors that exceed normal sRGB. When opened in CS2 both versions of a JPEG, AdobeRGB and sRGB, typically look perceptually identical, no matter if I leave the sRGB image to sRGB, or convert it to the working space (AdobeRGB). Also my color-managed image viewer behaves as it should. So I don't think it's a matter of the different color spaces.
Looking at the imported images in LR I would say that the AdobeRGB image is correctly converted while the sRGB image suffers from a slight reddish cast, most noticable in skin tones. The effect is not as strong as if I would load the sRGB image into CS2 and skip color conversion to my working space (AdobeRGB).
The sRGB versions of the JPEG's were obtained from the AdobeRGB JPEG's using CS2 for conversion.
Anyone else here experienced a similar problem? Is this a bug in the xRGB-to-ProPhotoRGB conversion of LR, or a feature?
    /Steffen

    Hi Uli,
thanks for pointing me to your thread. I followed the discussion with great interest. Actually, I think the effect I am describing here is of different nature and a LOT stronger, at least for the type of images I've tested.
I did some more experiments yesterday with interesting results:
    1) When I export a processed RAW from LR to JPEG or PSD, no matter what Color Space (I tested AdobeRGB, sRGB and ProphotoRGB), and re-import those JPEG/PSD's to LR, they look absolutely identical to the RAW I started with. Also, at first glance, they look similar when opened in CS2, but only because I tested with color images. I can indeed see small differences when testing with B/W, as you described in your "Color management bug" thread.
    2) When I change the color space of an PSD or JPEG inside CS2 (I used the default setting 'relative colorimetric') and save it to JPEG and then import this JPEG to LR, colors are far off. The strength of this mostly reddish color cast depends on the color space of the imported JPEG, strongest for Prophoto, less strong for Adobe and sRGB. Interestingly, when I convert the color space inside CS2 and save the result to PSD, it will display correctly when imported in LR. Another interesting side effect: the thumbnails of LR-exported JPEG's in the "Open" dialogs of CS2 and LR (I guess those are not color-managed) show the typical color-flatness for the Adobe and even more the ProPhoto version. For the CS2-converted JPEG's, all thumbnails look just a colorful as the thumbnail of the sRGB version.
    3) Such an image which doesn't display correctly in LR will keep its color cast when exported again to a JPEG (not sure about PSD). So something goes wrong with the color conversion during the import of such CS2-converted images.
My explanation so far is that CS2 uses a slightly different way of coding the colorspace information in the metadata of JPEG's which somehow prevents LR to recognise the color space correctly.
    Can you confirm this behaviour?

  • SQL job running DTEXEC.EXE via PowerShell step produces wrong characters in result tables. Running the same DTEXEC.EXE in PowerShell x86 window produces correct results.

I've created a package in SSDT (Visual Studio 2012) to import DBF tables into MSSQL 2014 via a wizard.
Source DBF files contain tables with Russian (Cyrillic) characters in records fields.
Created package works fine, produces correct results (imports Cyrillic characters as needed) while:
    •debugging in VS2012
•deploying package in SSISDB and running the package via PowerShell x86:
    &"c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\120\DTS\Binn\DTExec.exe" /Server "server\mssql2014" /ISServer "\SSISDB\import\Integration Services Project16\Package1.dtsx";
But when I create a SQL Agent job with a single PowerShell step that contains the same command and run the job it produces wrong characters in resulting tables. So, the problem is in wrong code page (or encoding). The correct tables with records are
produced and job runs without errors.
    I tried
    chcp 1251; # 855, 866 -- all of them
    &"c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\120\DTS\Binn\DTExec.exe" /Server "server\mssql2014" /ISServer "\SSISDB\import\Integration Services Project16\Package1.dtsx";
in SQL Agent PowerShell step, but with no positive result.
Anyone encountered such a behavior? How to fix it?
    v

What if you run this package without PowerShell?

  • IPhoto imports photos with wrong dates even if the dates are fine on the camera

    Hi!
When I import photos with iPhoto, sometimes it imports them with wrong dates, even the dates are fine on the camera. It puts dates such as 2032. Does anyone know how can I fix that. As far as I know there is no way to change dates of the photos.
    Thanks!

well that is very confusing since if the date is correct on the camera it will be correct in iPhoto
    and as to
As far as I know there is no way to change dates of the photos.
Try looking through your iPhto menus - two commands - adjust time and date and batch change time and date - asjust is used to correct incorrect dates like a comera setting -   Batch change for missing dates like with scans

  • Resolution of Imported jpegs, especially with text, is terrible.

I'm importing jpegs built @ 1280 x 720 pixels. In the viewer the text is crisp, but when it's put into the sequence, it loses all quality. I'm not sure what my sequence settings should be on. Under Sequence settings I've been using "DV NTSC 48 Khz Anamorphic" .I export using quicktime conversion using the "best" settings.
    Thanks

Not sure how or where to make that happen. To create a sequence that's 1280x720, would that be under easy setup's, "HDV-Apple intermediate codec 720p30?
I'll eventually be exporting video to be placed in an html document with a flash player.

How can I import text produced in Pages into Adobe inDesign?

I doubt it will do graphics and layout, but maybe, depending on your version of Indesign you may hit lucky (but probably not).

  • Unable to Edit Imported Jpeg files.

I'm currently using iPhoto 9.6 and OS 10.10.   I have created jpg stills from .mov projects using QT Pro and imported them successfully into a previous version of iPhoto where I was able to crop them and make rudimentary color and exposure adjustments.  With the new iPhoto 9.6 I cannot.  I get an error message "Image Cannot Be Edited.  The original format is not supported."
So I am assuming the only way to edit these imported jpegs is to open them in Lightroom or Photoshop make my adjustments and then attempt to re-import them into iPhoto or maybe just stop using iPhoto all together for this kind of file?

Yes "master" copies of files - those located in the iPhoto >>package contents >> Masters folder organized by import date - once they have been edited from within iPhoto (exposure corrections, cropping, straightening, etc) become the master copies.
Bewilderingly vague. They are the masters. They are never edited. The photos are edited and the results recorded in the SQL database. The never "become the Master copies". They are the Masters and never become anything.
To prove this I have selected a master file from with this directory and created a copy of it on the desktop where I gave it a new name, then re-imported it to iPhoto and re-opened it there.  It is a virtual clone of the original edited file - edited from within iPhoto save for its name - an "edited master".
If you made a copy of a Master then it's not a virtual clone it's an actual clone. "It is a virtual clone of the original edited file" Huh? What's an "original edited file"? It's a Master or something else? Which is it? There is no concept in iPhoto of 'edited Master'. There are Masters. That's the file as imported from your camera. It is never edited. End of story.
Subsequently from within iPhoto I have chosen the original photo - the one that had been modified to begin with - and reverted this file to its original version.  So then I had two masters of the same shot - one edited and one in its originally imported state.  Why did I do this (and originate this post)?
No you didn't. You had two masters to begin with and thereafter you had two masters at the end. When you reverted to original all you did was delete the edit decisions for the database and destroy a preview. In no case was the Master touched.
The terminology is important because it explains how the app works. You're conflating photos (which are edited in iPhoto) with files (which are never edited in iPhoto), all photo edits are virtual until baked in on export. That's why the concept and the term Master is important. Edited Master means nothing, Master of an Edited Photo does, but that's a different thing.
Because I could not re-edit or export these affected photos unless I first re-imported them to iPhoto by either locating the original files from storage media or making copies of them from iPhoto's package contents>>masters folder as above and importing them back into the iPhoto library.  Once I did this - there were a lot of these affected files - I could edit and export to my heart's content.  Remember, these files were modified from within earlier versions iPhoto itself.  Yes, some files had been converted to jpegs from original PICT exports out QT Pro using Photoshop Elements.
Because your database was corrupted. It has nothing to do with Masters/Versions or anything else. It was broken.
How do I explain this apparent corruption of the iPhoto library database?  Disclaimers to the contrary, I put the onus on having to convert the db every time there is an app iteration which is sometimes coupled with an OS upgrade (like with Yosemite).  I suspect that the file metadata is susceptible to corruption during these upgrades.  It is the only variable in an otherwise static and stable environment that could possibly result in library corruption short of hardware failure.
That's one possibility. Here are some more: anytime the app is interrupted writing to the database - by a crash, hang or even a power surge, bad blocks on a disk - there are many possibilities..
And again, there is no need to convert the db "every time there is an app iteration". There are updates when it is not necessary. And, as I keep on saying, OS upgrades make no difference. It's app upgrades only.

  • Imported JPEG images are too light

Imported JPEG images appear lighter/brighter than the scanned image.
How can I make JPEG images appear with the correct lightness/brightness so they look like the actual book or magazine from which they were scanned?
Using Apple's "Preview" to look at a JPEG- everything looks fine. But when a JPEG is imported into Motion 4.0.3 (and/or Final Cut Pro 7.0.3), the image appears lighter/brighter, as if it's washed out. To see if this is just the way a JPEG appears in Motion and not how the finished product will be, I exported a Motion project with one or more JPEGs as a QuickTime movie. The QuickTime movie does not bring the JPEG image(s) back to the "correct" lightness/brightness as the scanned image.
    Settings used:
JPEG image, using a CanoScan LiDE 210 scanner, Color Space: RGB, Color Profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, current Monitor Gamma setting on the scanner is set to 1.80
How can I make JPEG images appear in Motion (and Final Cut Pro) so they are true to the source from which they were scanned?

Does it do the same thing when you use TIFFs?

  • IMPORTING JPEGS -- THEY'RE COMING OUT WASHED OUT

I have been trying to import jpeg images into final cut and in the process of importing them Final cut is slightly changing the images so that they're washed out, people's faces look overexposed where they didn't in the originals. I've tried resizing the images and importing smaller ones since the originals are very large but that has not helped. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

Any luck in altering the Gamma settings of your imported JPEGs within FCP at all?
In case you don't know how to do that, check out the Late-Breaking News for FCP 5, then jump to the section on FCP 5.1.2 (which is when those features were introduced) or, as of this post, page 12.

  • Imported JPEG causes ptroblems when publishing

Still have problems with publishing a FLA with an imported
    JPEG as a
    background.
It is published OK several times and then on athe next
    attempt to publish it
slows down and throws a message that the computer run out of
    virtual memory
and will take it from some other processes. This takes a
    couple of minutes
nd then the resulting SWF is about 10 times the size it was
    before and shows
    no backgrownd.
The JPEG is still in the FLA, but it is empty.
I delete is completely, import again - same story - compiles
    well only
    several first times.
Tries it with other JPEGs - same result.
Without JPEG thisfla compiles without problems
The JPEG in question is a photo taken by low resolution
    digital camera, 1276
    by 958 pixel and 330 K

The size of main fla file in which I am importing the image
    is 2.5Mb
Version of Flash is 8, AS version 2
I cannnot see file size abnormality here.
The most puzzling is that after I remove and re-import the
    image it compiles
well several times? before the problem repeats. It looks like
    something is
    accumulationg over repeated publishing.
Or my code might have some hidden side effect which does
    something with the
    image

  • How can I color a black and white imported jpeg?

I am new to Illustrator, and have been watching MANY videos, but just cannot seem to figure out how to color the B&W photo I imported into Illustrator CC. Do I need to do something in Photoshop first? Am I missing a step? I was able to trace the image but from there I am lost. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

How can I color a black and white imported jpeg?
In case you don't want to trace it first:
-> it needs to real Greyscale. Not just desaturated RGB
-> Do not save it via Save for Web in Photoshop.
