Importing jpg images

Is there a limit to the number of jpg images I can import into an iMovie HD project? I plan to make this into an iDVD project.
Thanks!

we had that debate a long time ago and obviously..

what is such a kind of 'movie'?

  • Problem resizing imported jpg images in flash cs4

when i import a jpg file in flash and then resize this with the transform tool to for example 50% of the original size
then im not getting the same result as resizing it in photoshop.
if i first resize it in photoshop and import the image is smooth and looks the way i want
but if i resize in flash the image gets edgy and not so good.
so is there a way in flash cs 4 to resize the image with the same result as resizing it in photoshop or
    similar?

    thanks for advice =)
but the size of the jpeg will maintain the same?
seems like that, otherwise i think photoshop is the only option..

  • Is there a way to only import jpg images from a CF card?

I use a Canon 20D, and save all my pictures as RAW and Small JPG on mij CF card.
Wgat I would like to do is whenever I put my CF card in my card reader, have iphoto only import my jpg images on my MacBook
Is there an easy way to do this? Now I get all my pictures double, both JPG and RAW in my library ...

Use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) to select what pics you want to move to your Mac, then after, import them to iPhoto.

  • Importing jpg images saved in Photoshop into iPhoto'11 albums

I edited some photos in Photoshop, saved them as jpgs and then tried to import them into an iPhoto '11 album without success. Although I saw a green plus sign, the photos did not appear in the album. I have done this without a problem in an older version of iPhoto (7?) on an older computer. Why won't it work now and how do I get the edited photos into my album?
    Thanks.

You can't import to an Album. You import to the Library and then you add them to a Library. Check your Library those images will be there.

  • Imported jpg Images

I am using CF9 to design and print business cards for our clients. I have a client who wants an image on the entire back side of the card. The pdf size is set to 3.5 inches by 2 inches. The image is set to the same size and saved as a jpg.
When I run the card, the proof looks fine on the front, but on the back where the jpg should go edge to edge, it leaves a border around the left and top of the card...it actually shifts the image down and right. I have set the image to align center, and my margins are all set to 0.0
I've tried enlarging the image, but it just pushes it more to the right and down...it's like there's some invisible border on the top and left of the card. I added the top=0 and left=0, but it hasn't changed anything.
How do I get this image to import and go edge to edge properly? What am I missing?
    Thanks!

  • Import of "image sequence" grays out when you select multiple jpg in Premier CC

It worked jus fine untill a few days ago after the CC update. I even reset the number sequencing on my camera to try a test set of picture.  no matter what I do the "image sequence" check box grays out as soon as i click on multiple jpgs.
any one ever have this occur?

As joe bloe says, select only a single image file to enable the Image Sequence checkbox. Once you select multiple files, then the importer is set to import as multiple single still images. FYI, you can also select any file (other than the frst), if you wish to import a shorter range of files (eg: select 0040 to import an image sequence of frame 40 and on)

  • Iphoto photo import - best image type for max resolution (jpg vs tiff)

What is the recommended image type for maximum resolution of photos brought into iphoto albums, since I will be enlarging them? (ie assuming everything brought into iphoto is set/reduced to a standard resolution, then jpg might allow more digital data for later enlargement; on the other hand tiff is often recommended for best resolution though it requires more space). Thanks, - D

Thanks, Terence - OK, lets assume I shoot a 5-meg photo of a painting and adjust the paralax etc in photoshop so it is perfectly set inside the rectangular format. Now I want to import it into iphoto, knowing that I will use the crop tool to make two blow-up enlargements to go along with the original full-size image... total 3 related images of the artwork. As you mentioned these will eventually go into iweb as part of a series inside an album, with a hyperlink connecting the two enlargements to the full-size image... so viewers can tap to see finer detail and then go back to the overall composition. My question is, for the original photo image of the painting should I drag a 10-meg tiff into iphoto or a 2-meg jpg? (I do not know what importing the image into iphoto does to the original in terms of final image resolution and data size... Will a 2-meg jpg provide sufficient data to work with and enlarge via the cropping, or would the 10-meg tiff be better as a starting point? Or, if everything gets translated into a certain pre-ordained size anyway, would the tiff get watered down to, say, a 2-meg-size image anyway?) Thanks, - D

  • JPG Image Icons imported from OS 9.1 stay tiny in OS 10.4.8 finder windows

The icons of nearly ten thousand jpg images that I transferred via AppleTalk from my old PowerPC (OS 9.1) to my new iMac (OS 10.4.8) appear tiny in finder windows. [The problem seems to be unique to jpg image files, since other transfered items, such as folders, documents, and tiff image icons, behave normally on the new system.]
I have no problem with new images that have been created or saved on the iMac; they behave properly, adjusting from 16x16 to 128x128. However, all old (transferred) images in the same finder window remain tiny, no matter how I adjust the settings in View > Show View Options.
I have discovered an unsatisfactory, tedious, image-by-image workaround. By opening a single old image and chosing "Save As…" I can save the image as a new jpg; then the icon will behave like other newly created images. Unfortunately, once the image is newly saved, I lose important data about the original image, such as Date Created.
How can I "update" the old jpg image icons (transferred from OS 9.1 via AppleTalk) so they will behave like the newer icons, without losing old image data and having to resave the images one by one?

you need to trash the current version of IPhoto, just the application, leave all libraries intact, throw te iPhoto into the trash and up date, it wil ask you after install what libraries you want to install. Your choice, latsest is always my chioce. Do all the iPhoto updates before this step, as the download could have been corrupted. Hapened to me on my wifes nachine 10.7.3., which would have been certain death for me. After the re-install it will ask you which library to install, I always pick the latest, but you can put in others  as well.
Good luck, because if I lost those files, I'd be pushing uo Daisys about now.
There might be someone who knows a better wat too do this, and there is software to help ypu recover your data.(Data Resue, ClamEx)

  • Unable to import an image in a signature?

I am using Reader DC. When I create a new appearance for the signature, there is an option to import an image. Selecting that, then browse, opens a window for file selection. However, the only file type the browse window will display is pdf. It is supposed to allow import of image files (jpg, png, etc.). The drop down arrow next to pdf does not have any other options. Is there a fix for this?

I have confirmed that this is a problem on a different computer also using Adobe Reader DC. One computer is based on Windows 7 Professional, the other uses Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • Help - Importing Large Images Fails

    Hi,
I use Flash primarily for animation.  The project I'm working on currently is a hefty 1920 X 1080 square pixel file and currently weighs in at 187mb because of all the sounds and jpg images.  It's 2 minutes long.
The problem occuring is new to me as I've never worked with projects this long or in this resolution.  Or with this much data (sound effects, jpgs, etc).
The problem is this: I'm trying to import a high resolution photograph (3500x2500) onto the stage or even just in the library.  I'm using the photos to get an idea on where the final animation will be placed (photo backgrounds, flash animation, composited in After Effects, think Roger Rabbit).
And it's been working until now.  I've imported, scaled, and animated a lot of jpgs, sounds, and photos without incident as well as drawn a lot of new frames using the brush tool.
I'm near the end of the project, and of course, Flash craps out on me, either crashing (closing automatically) on me every time I try to import the 20th of about 25 hi-rez photos, or giving me some error saying the file I'm trying to import is corrupted.  And when I try to import other files it gives me the same problem.
Here's the kicker though, when I open a new stage and close the project I'm working on and try to import the same files, I am able to import
those supopsedly corrupt images.  My theory is that Flash cannot deal with projects like mine, with lots of hi-rez photos in the timeline (though only one hi-rez photo on the stage at any given time.  It might be a RAM memory problem since Flash is vector based.  I have 2gigs of DDR RAM on my computer and it's a 2GHz Athlon processor.
I currently use Flash CS3 and Flash 5 and have experienced the same issues in both.
My question to those who have encountered similar problems in the past is how do you get around this?  What's your work flow?
Do you split the project up into smaller chunks so you can import onto the stage what you need to work on in that chunk so Flash doesn't crash?
Do you use another program to composite and cross your fingers in the hopes the animation will line up with the imported background?
This project requires animation synced to the sound, so syncing after animating is not an option.  Likewise, the animation has to appear in the right place on the screen, so importing photos to the stage is a must for placement issues.  And lastly, it has to be HD resolution, so the photos I use have to be hi-rez too, which means huge filesizes.
Since it's not for the web, it's not an issue for me what the filesize is, but it seems to be for Flash and that's why it keeps crashing now that's I've pushed it to its limits.
I'm curious if there are any solutions that will prevent it from crashing in the future or work-arounds that will allow me to avoid reaching Flash's limits as I finish laying in the photo bgs and begin animating.
    Ideas welcome.

  • Quality not the same after exporting movie made up of jpg images

Basically I made an animation sequence on Autodesk Maya and rendered the sequence as 2000 jpeg images each representing 1 frame, put it in one folder and on Adobe Premiere imported and dragged the folder into the timeline to make a moving image so in other words my video is made up of hundreds of jpg images.
Now on the editor it all looks HD and fine but when I export it via file > export > media, in order to match the sequence to the screen I must click on 'match sequence settings' which will snap the whole movie into the window rather than have it widescreen and once I do this I can't modify anything else such as codec, etc (codec is automatically set as MPEG -Frame and the output automatically is mpeg), is this normal? Why is it mpeg ajnd not avi...
So once I export the video with these settings (image uploaded) the quality is ok but not as good as what I see in the Premeire editor, why? What can I do to improve the quality?
On the other hand if I don't click on match to sequence settings and personally customise the paramaters such as avi, I use max settings for many things but after exporting my picture quality actually goes worse compared tomatch to sequence settings? (which has less parameters)
Why is this happening, all my jpeg images are high quality 720p and I should just be able to export it as normal...
I am trying to make a cut-scene to get into Unity so the codec is important as well.
How can I make my video best quality as possible being mpeg or avi? What settings do I need to play with?

Maybe I misunderstood, but did you actually put 2000 still images on the timeline? If so, there is another way. Go to Import and find your folder, and select only the first still in your sequence, then check the box at the bottom of the import windows that says "Numbered Sequence" or something like that. This will import the stills as a "video" clip.
Regarding Export, don't check Frame Blending or Max Render, the first being for a change of frame rate and the latter being useful for a downscale of the frame size. You are doing neither.
Also, never use "Match Sequence Settings". Leave that unchecked, and then choose whatever format YOU want to use for the export, whether .avi or H.264 or whatever.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to ignore and not import JPG files when a JPG and raw file of the same name exist?

Is it possible to ignore JPG files on import? I shoot raw + JPG and see no reason to keep the JPGs; I shoot JPG primarily as a backup (I back all the JPGs up online to my smugmug account then delete them before importing the raw files), but they're also occasionally handy if one wants to get a quick print in the field. I know that one can set a preference to "Treat JPEG Files Next to Raw Files As Separate Photos", but even then they still are imported.
As an example, say I have this scenario (not on DSLRS, but on pNs cameras, sometimes a JPG but not raw is captured - I suspect this has to do with how the buffer is filling) with these files on a memory card:
    IMG_0001.JPG
    IMG_0001.CR2
    IMG_0002.JPG
    IMG_0003.JPG
    IMG_0003.CR2
When I import pictures from this folder, I'd like 2 CR2 files and 1 JPG to be imported. I'm even willing to copy the relevant files and drag and drop them onto LR's Library module. But even if I do that, all five files get imported. Thanks!

For this typical example 98% of the image files are transferred while LR is building previews, which is exactly what I was suggesting be avoided.
No, I don't believe that's correct. As I said in my previous post, Lightroom's Import is a two-stage process.....first copy the files from the card, then when that is finished, render whatever previews have been requested.
AFAIK there is nothing unusual about my system, Lightroom has always imported in this two-stage way as far back as I can remember. Based on this I see no 'safety' benefit from copying files first outside Lightroom, then using an ADD import process. On the contrary, as this takes away the possibility of using the "Second Copy on Import" option, as well as having to manually setup import folders, I see nothing but downside from that approach.
Mea culpa, Jim is correct! I checked my Windows 7 system with LR4.2 and I monitored the 'Destination folder' during an import direct from memory card to hard drive. 'Copy and import' showed in the progress bar until all image files were visible using Windows Explorer in the 'Destination folder.' Only after all files had transferred did the progress bar change to ‘Render 1:1 Previews.’ I started using LR1.0 on a Pentium 3 single-core system with Windows XP 32 bit, which I think is when I made this observation. Regardless, it is clear that LR4.2 is using a two-step import process. Thanks Jim for being persistent!
It still begs the question why some people are experiencing very slow imports, damaged image files, and other related import problems from memory cards? My guess (and it's only a guess) is that they have 1) 'Rename Files,' 2) 'Automatically write changes into XMP,' or 3) 'Include Develop settings in metadata inside JPEG, TIFF and PSD files' checked in LR preferences. It would be a good idea for anyone experiencing import issues to try an import with these three (3) options unselected.
My apologies to the OP DBarman for going off topic. Hopefully the extra information and observations are helpful.

When importing images into LR5 on my laptop, the photos all have a wide yellow streak through them. This only happens on the laptop; I can import the images onto my desktop LR and there isn't the streak of colour.   Can someone help?
This is happening even with photos that were taken on another camera, not just mine.  My daughter told me that the laptop recently fell.  The yellow streak is not anywhere else on the laptop, just on the photos in LR.

I have had this problem on my desktop.  I have been attempting to reproduce it where it can be debugged. Here are some observations/facts in my environment--no conclusions:
    1. I do not import from camera or memory stick directly into LR.  I copy all images (using Explorer) from camera to two different locations (backup location first); and then my working area. In both cases, after files are copied I mark them Read-only.
    2. Poor observation, but in any event: the issue has only occurred when I do a large number of images. Its a poor observation as I have no exact number.  I suspect when I do less than 50 always works well every time.  However, I have also done some very large imports without issue.
    3. Error only occurs with my RAW images--for me that's NEF.  I have multiple cameras--those that only capture jpg images have never had an issue in LR.
    4. Even if the file is marked Read Only issues can still occur.  I then remove the image from the disk using LR -- and then manually (Explorer) copy in my backup image -- re import again and all is well.  I think one time I exited LR and replaced the bad file with a backup and restarted LR and all was well again.
    5. When it occurs I have performed a HASH value on the broken file and on the backed up file to determine if the file contents has changed--and each time the file contents has changed.
    6. I have had this occur immediately after import, but most often it occurs like this... import large number of images; Make changes in Development Module on random image, export jpg of changes--exit LR. Open up LR and file is corrupted.
    7. I have had this issue on multiple USB drives ( okay just 2 different drives have been tested ).
What next--fire up Process Monitor and monitor the system (specifically LR) to see if it reports any file open for write access when this occurs.  So, far I have not had process monitor actually running when it occurs--one of these days.
