Importing just a few pics from the camera, not all

Hey guys,
I'm brand new to iPhoto and i want to just bring in a few pics from my camera but right now I can only bring in all of them (200 pics). Does iPhoto really not do this?

There are two ways.
1 - use Image Capture, located in the Applications folder. You can preview the thumbnails and upload selected photos to the desktop from where you can import into iPhoto.
2 - once you get the camera mounted in iPhoto hit the Return key twice. The Edit window will come up with the thumbnails in the photo bin at the top. However the thumbnails will be blank but you can see the photo in the main edit window where you can drag it onto the Library icon or an album icon to import. You can only import one at a time and see one at a time. It works but is very slow. #1 would be my choice and it would be quick and you'd be much less susceptible to auto-shutdown by the camera due to a low battery which can have bad results.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Use an app like MediaRecover to get the pics back from the card.

There have been many issues reported with Kodak cameras - serach the forums for them
Actually the best practise is to use a card reader to import your photos, verify that they are imported ocrrectly and wait at least one backup cycle and then use the camera's format command to reformat the card and erase it - this assures no lost photos and always having the card properly formatted

Does any1 hav issues with not being able to send pic from the camera roll. I've already had issues with over exposure that the new update fixed but it left me with this issue.

Since getting my iPhone 5 I've had camera issues. To start with it was over exposure, the camera was flashing too early and leaving me with dark pictures. After a failed reset I visited the apple store, where they told me it was a known problem and apple were working on a update to fix the issue and it was just a
waiting game. Once the update was available I did it immediately and the problem seemed to be fixed. I've now noticed that from the camera roll I carnt send a picture to mms. It gives me the option but the screen completely freezes after I've chosen it. The only way to access my camera roll again is to completely close the camera roll down and reopen it. The strange thing it it will let me send it as an email and upload taught to Facebook etc just not as an mms. The other strange thing is if I go to msgs and add a photo I'm successful but if I try to edit the photo I want to send 1st then I get the same issue as the camera roll. I also have issues with the shutter taking ages to open. Is anyone else havin these issue before I go back to the apple shop. A complete reset hasn't worked

Photo Stream only handles images and your videos are not uploaded or shared with other devices.
Use iPhoto to import from your device. It can bring in the videos and image files.

Pics from iPhoto Albums not all showing in iPhone tab in iTunes

I am trying to sync several of my iPhoto albums with my iPhone. With most of my albums when I click on the photo tab in iTunes, it shows WAY less pictures than are in the real album. Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it? I really want all pics from the albums I choose to move to phone.

Apparently sometimes, for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
Contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.

Lost pics from the camera roll

I recently had my iphone screen repaired, and when I got it back it was perfectly fine, although all the camera roll pics where gone!!, I had over 1,000 pics there, then I realized that the storage capacity did not change, the camera roll still used 14 GB, and in Itunes the "others" components incuded this 14 GB. Long story short I downloaded a program called Dr fone which after analizing my Iphone found all of my pics, but I have to buy the program license so I can restore my pics, is there any other way to restore my pics from "Other" to my camera roll?? Pleas help!!

If you use Photo Stream (Settings > Photos & Camera > My Photo Stream = "On"), then most if not all your photos are there (in the cloud).

Does iPhone Packager CS 5.5 support camera access and LOADING images from the camera roll?

Flash CS 5 only supports SAVING to the camera roll, not loading image from it. And it has no access to the camera to take pictures and access the image within the app.
Does Flash CS 5.5 do these things? There's no point in upgrading if it doesn't support these core feature that I need.

Just got an app rejected because the popover to select the pics from the camera roll on the iPad always appears on to-left corner, and the arrow doesn't point anywere, and should be pointing to the button which activated it. That "does not comply with the Apple iOS Human Interface Guidelines, as required...". On the iPhone there's no issue because it takes over the whole screen. More from the apple rejection message:
"Specifically, we noticed your app contained popover elements that didn't point to the element that revealed them. To avoid user confusion, a popover element's arrow should point to the element that revealed it."
So, thanks for including the CameraRoll functionality, but it will be useless in the iPad apparently

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard, and I have Aperture 3.1.3. Now after I import pics from my camera I get a dialog box so large I can't get to the eject card button. I have to force quit Aperture. How do I fix?

I can drag the dialog box, but I can't move it up far enough to get to the eject card button. The dialogue box contains all the jpeg Numbers I am trying to upload. It has never done that before. It used to be just a smal dialogue box with no jpeg numbers in it.
It is even difficult to get to the Finder with the Dialague box is open. I have to force quit aperture.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

The way that I understand that it works, is that the photos are not copied into the new albums, instead it just points to the photos - the number of photos on the iPad in Settings > General > About doesn't increase when you create new album so I assume from that that it isn't copying the photo, just pointing to it. So if you delete the photo from the camera roll you will therefore also be deleting all the pointers to it

When I import I have an Applescript that stores the images in a year month day folder-project structure so I haven;t used the default Aperture behavior in some time. When I tested it out to reply to you I was doing it from the file system and it picked up the date from the folder. mea culpa.
Anyway the closest you can get is to have Aperture split the images by date. IN the Aperture preferences set the project split granularity
Autosplit into Projects
and then in the import window set
Automatically split projects.
This will give projects named Month Day, Year (ie: Mar 13, 2012) there is no way to change this
As I said I have a script that runs on import and sets up a structure like:
Of course many here will say not to name projects this way, that Aperture has the ability to sort by date and you're better off naming projects something more meaningful. For them that is true and it might be for you also. For me I like to store my masters this way, it works for the way I shoot.

How can i have aperture restart loading pictures from my camera. 2 weeks ago aperture was perfect. thursday aperture stopped loading new pics from the same camera. have done library rebuilds and permissions to no avail. about to trash aperture.

How can I get aperture to restart loading pictures from my camera? 2 weeks ago; my camera (nikon D60) and aperture worked well together. last saturtday Aperture would not upload some new photos taken that day. I recieved an error message stating the photo files were not uploaded. The apple store staff was no help at all this time( they usually are very good) should i delete/trash the app and start over?

This is where it is getting hazy for me. I'm assuming either the import window opens automatically or you click the import button. Either way you say that Aperture indicates that your camera is present and again, I'll have to assume you mean that it is present in the import window...
Do the thumbnails from the camera appear? Are you able to check the images you would like to import? When you click the import button is when you receive the message that Aperture did not import the images?

Thank's for the respones. Found out that Aperture runs great on at least 2 gig of ram. Just installed 4 gig. All of my issues have vanished. Moving on the the next day.

WOW! That font is difficult to read. But, see if this support document helps you http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989. Photos stream is based on date and photos more than 30 days old are removed. Photostream is designed as a temporary storage to allow you to download the photos to the computer.

After I import a movie file from the camera memory card, Imovie 10.0.1 acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it worksnow? Thank you, Filippo

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.
