Importing keynote slides to imovie

I'm trying to import a slide from keynote to use in imovie.  How do I go about this?

haha, nice response.
HAVE YOU TRIED ADDING THE AUDIO TRACK IN IMOVIE RATHER THAN IN KEYNOTE?
(I'm just guessing, I haven't tried this myself)

demoes the usage of Keynote with iMovie.
you can use 'animated' presentations or single 'charts' as jpegs ..

    two options:
    • prepare the still in some 'paint'-app, demoed here:

  • Importing Keynote slides into Pages

I'm new to a Mac. I'm doing a copy and paste of Keynote slides into a Pages document. The quality of the slide image is very poor when printed. I've done this many times before in Windows (with PPT and Word) and the quality is very high. I thought it might be the slide template I chose but then tried several others and the quality is still poor. Anybody have any suggestions?

Why not check what it is you are getting when you copy and paste?
Is the entire slide being rasterised to a bitmap?
What resolution is the original slide and is it being changed when you copy and paste.
More to the point is how are you printing the final Pages document?
If you are going to .pdf file first and there is transparency, reflections or shadows then that will be rasterised to a low 72dpi thanks to Apple's bad settings in OSX's ColorSync filters.
If the Keynote images look fine in Pages even when you zoom in on them, then the problem very likely is the ColorSync filters.

  • Keynote "slides" containing iMovie

I have put together a Keynote presentation with six different "slides" of QuickTime movies, each about 500 mb. They all are smooth, with good resolution when viewed simply as the QT movies, but, after inserting them into Keystone and saving, they are degraded, as if further compressed. Is this the case, and, if so, how can I preserve the quality of the movies in Keynote? Thanks for any help of suggestions. Jim

  • I have iMovie 2011 and I imported PowerPoint slides with a soundtrack. Now I want to get rid of a small clip but it's not letting me do that.

I have iMovie 2011 and I imported PowerPoint slides with a soundtrack. Now I want to delete a small highlighted clip and it won't let me no matter what I do! Rosemary

First off....do NOT install MacKeeper!  It creates more problems than it prevents, and is a royal pain to get rid of once you realize this.
What I would do, since it sounds like you don't want to reorganize your email filing by the use of Smart Mailboxes, is to simply use the search box at the top of the Mail window to find only the emails you want to delete....then select them all and delete them.  For example, if you wanted to delete all of the emails from [email protected], you would type that into your search box, which will filter your inbox to only show you emails from [email protected]  Then Select All, and delete them.  You haven't deleted any others....only those from that person.
Then clear the search box to see the rest of your emails again.
Repeat this process to delete emails from other senders you no longer need.
(Once you've selected them all, by the way, you can control-click one if you need to save it).

  • Can I Integrate Keynote Build Slides Into iMovie?

It's me the Mac/iMovie newbie with another question...
Is there a way I can integrate a 'building' Keynote slide into an iMovie project?
Your help and/or direction is very much appreciated!

Thanks again AppleMan, will try this tonight!
Once I export to QuickTime, where do I find the QuickTime file, and how do I pull it into my project?
Apologies if this is a dumb question once again!
    Cheers!

  • Import keynote to imovie

    Hi
I would like to do keynote slides with animation and put them in an imovie.
What is the best format to export from keynote to retain the animations in imovie?
    Thanks

I don't know whether this is the same for an earlier version of Keynote, but according to Keynote Help (from iWork 8), you export as a quicktime movie:
    +Creating a QuickTime Movie+
+You can turn your slideshow into a QuickTime movie that includes all animated transitions and object builds.+
+You can create an interactive movie that viewers can advance at their own pace, or you can create a self-playing movie, with transitions and builds timed just as you set them.+
+To create a QuickTime movie of your slideshow:+
+Choose File > Export and then click QuickTime.+
+Choose an option from the Playback Uses pop-up menu:+
+Manual Advance: Viewers advance through the slideshow by clicking the mouse or Play (in the QuickTime controls), or by pressing the Space bar on the keyboard.+
+Hyperlinks Only: Viewers advance through the slideshow by clicking hyperlinks.+
+Recorded Timing: If you recorded your slideshow (as described in Adding Narration), your slideshow movie plays using the timing you recorded.+
+Fixed Timing: Viewers can’t control how the slideshow advances; the slideshow plays using the timing you specify in the next step.+
+If you choose Fixed Timing, specify how long slides appear and how long it takes to complete object builds by typing values in the Slide Duration and Build Duration fields.+
+Slide Duration: How long each fully built slide remains on the screen after the last object build is complete.+
+Build Duration: The number of seconds between the beginning of one build stage and the next in each object build. There is no delay between the moment a slide first appears on the screen and the first stage of an object build.+
+If you choose Fixed Timing, you can choose an option from the Repeat pop-up menu:+
+None: The slideshow plays only once.+
    +Loop: The slideshow plays continuously.+
+Back and Forth: The slideshow plays through forward, then backward to the beginning, and so on.+
+To make the slideshow appear on the whole screen rather than in a window, select “Enter full screen mode when opened.”+
+Choose a playback quality and file size from the Formats pop-up menu:+
+Full Quality, Large: Preserves the best playback quality, but these movies are large and are therefore more difficult to transfer through email or the web.+
Then, place that QuickTime movie into your iMovie.

  • How do I import a Pages file into a Keynote slide ?

I have successfully copied multiple charts produced in Numbers into a keynote slide but have drawn a complete blank importing a pages file. I asked during a one to one session but my tutor did not know - Is it possible please.

If you need something from a Layout Document - Copy and Paste will do it.
Open your Pages document and select the portion you want > COPY
Open Keynote and create a blank slide > PASTE
Note: When you copy text boxes, images, etc. they will all be selected and copied - when you paste, you will see all the separate parts still selected - this would be a good time to GROUP the various elements so that you can re-size the whole thing to fit your needs.
It is a bit more tricky from a Word Processed Pages Document - if you do what I described above, you get a text box containing all of the text and individual photos but you lose the placement.
I found the easiest way to retain the look of the page is to take a Screenshot (CMD-Shift-4 then drag the cross hairs to select then release the mouse button) and place the screenshot on the slide and adjust size - since most Pages Documents are portrait and Keynote is landscape, there is no perfect fit. I prefer to add borders to the placed screenshot to show that it is a page - your choice there.
    Good Luck.

  • Keynote grafx into iMovie HD

I'm wondering if I have the concept backwards...
What I've done is gone VHS-->PC-->.wmv-->.mov-->iBook-->iMovieHD.
It's about an 8 min. total video, and I've cut the live footage I'll need to use down to about 5 min., which means I'll need to do about 3+ min. worth of grafx in Keynote.
I've read threads/Googled articles about importing iMovie HD footage into Keynote for a presentation, but that's not what I'm wanting to do; I want to INSERT Keynote-originated footage inTO iMovie HD, and use iMovie HD transitions into the Keynote grafx, then back into the video, then more grafx, etc.
When I'm finished, I'll export the finished product, featuring the captured video + iMovie HD transitions + Keynote grafx from my iBook-->PC with a DVD burner.
Is this even possible? I'm trying to update an old video into a more interactive DVD using iMovie HD, Keynote, iDVD, and a DVD burner.
Am I doing this bass ackwards? Is importing Keynote INTO iMovie HD even a possibility?

    Hmmmm, this is discouraging.
What I'd wanted to do was do some animated grafx/slides, and incorporate them into the iMovie project for the final DVD.
So you're saying that when I export the slides from Keynote, in .dv format, that there'll be considerable quality loss?
    That stinks!
I hadn't planned on using stills...all the slides would have some sort of animation.
    Rats.
Any advice here? Will the Keynote slides really look that bad?

  • Keynote project to iMovie?

Is it possible to import a Keynote project into iMovie for the purpose of laying in a sound track, adjusting it to the slides, then turning the completed Keynote project into a Quicktime movie for playing on TV?

It's definitely possible, but you will have to adjust your proposed workflow. The first thing that you are going to want to do is export the keynote presentation as a Quicktime movie. So that it can be imported by iMovie. Then you will need to lay the soundtrack. Finally, you will need to export the movie from iMovie as a Quicktime movie.
This will involve a bit of planning in advance. Before you export the movie to Quicktime from Keynote, you are going to need to figure out slide durations and transitions. You will have to set the transitions be automatic (no click-through movie for you, since I suspect iMovie would not be too happy with that). Depending on how you are wishing to fit the soundtrack to your movie, it might be an iterative process to get the transitions and durations just right.
Why not add the audio directly in Keynote instead? iMovie '08 is not notorious for advanced soundtrack and audio options, so I'm not sure that you are gaining anything by adding the soundtrack in iMovie. More info might help clarify this.

  • How can you make your OWN text slides on imovie

What i mean by this is, is there any other way to make text slides in imovie other than the options they already give you? I want to make my own, i'm not a fan of the ones they give

You can use Keynote and then use in imovie.
The trick is to Share from Keynote as a QuickTime movie. Use Timed Advance, not Manual Advance.
If you are using Green Screen, make a gradient background of two similar shades of green.
Here is a "green screen" example.
Here is a Picture in Picture example

How can I create a full-screen view of my Keynote slides in Snow Leopard?
I'm going to be importing into ScreenFlow to create a video.
    Thank you!!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Do you want static screen captures or motion video of slides as titles, bullet points, and the like are presented?
Run the Keynote slide presentation in full-screen mode, then...
    Static full-screen captures - use Command+Shift+3.
Static partial-screen captures - use Command+Shift+4 and use cursor to select the area of the screen to capture.
If you want motion video as builds occur, why not use Keynote's built-in Share, Export function?
    (I'm on iLife '09.)
Also understand that the default slide format for Keynote is 1024x768, not full-screen MacBook 1280x800 screen size, so you'll have wide black borders unless you change the default size or crop the finished screen captures.

  • Importing a slide show

    Hello,
Please give me direction on importing a slide show created in
    Fireworks.
    Thanks,
    Mike

What I do all the time is export an iMovie file onto the desktop as a Quick Time file and then import it into FCP if I need to. I would import your slide show into iMovie and then save it to the desk top as a Quick Time file and then import it into FCP. I know it's an extra step but that's the only way I know of getting it into a format that FCP will recognize.

  • Can I import DVD's into imovie HD

Here is my question. I have recently had some photos taken of myself and the photographer gave me an actual DVD (like a movie that you can watch on a real DVD player) of the proofs in a slide show. I would like to post this movie (it's short) on my iweb website but can not figure out a way to import the DVD into imovie HD so I can then make it smaller for use in iweb. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hello Jonathan,
you will have to convert the files contained in the DVD to a format readable by Quicktime. Normally you would convert the DVD to full quality DV format but as you are going to post it on the web, consider resizing it (e.g. 320x240) and using a suitable codec (e.g. Sorensen3 or MPEG-4). A movie in DV format would be too large a file to view online.
