Importing keywords from one iPhoto library to another iPhoto library

I start a new iPhoto library at the beginning of every year. I've made a collection of keywords in the previous years library that I would like to import into the new iPhoto library. I've tried assigning all of the keywords to one picture, exporting it from the old library and importing it to the new library, but it didn't take the keywords with it. Is there anyway to import this keyword list so that I don't have to recreate it?

You're on the right track, but you'll need iPhoto Library Manager to do it. It's the only way to move files from one library to another while maintaining metadata. So, assign all the keywords to one pic, then transfer it to the new library using iPLM. It's a $20 shareware, and all round good app. You can read about it here:

Imports Photos from one user name to another

We have two user profiles on my IMac (myself and my wife). Each has a separate IPhoto. My wife has imported some of our photos into her IPhoto, while I have imported others into mine. How can I import/share the photos between the user names so that we can have ALL the photos in the same IPhoto folder?

For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane. And vice versa
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
First you'll need to merge the two Libraries. The only way to do this is with the paid ($20) version of
iPhoto Library Manager
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

I have recently bought a mac and am trying to import my music from my ITunes account on my PC to my ITunes account on my mac through home sharing. however I can only see my Mac library on my PC whereas I need to see my PC library on my Mac to import/share music already purchased.

I have over 30 iPhoto Libraries. Managing them is great using iPhoto Library, but keyword management is awful (if iPLM has a way I haven't found it). I would like to know how to copy keywords from one library to another. It's a pain to have to continually doing manual setup.

With that many photos you might consider using one of the high end DAM (digital asset management) applications. I use Media Pro 1. It uses catalogs of thumbnails that are linked to the photos on your hard drive, CDs or wherever. A single catalog can hold 250,000 images. It uses Catalog Sets like Events in iPhoto. There are Categories which are like albums in iPhoto. Those and Catalog Sets are virtual. You can batch rename files once in the catalog either by date or text. The folders holding the photos on the hard drive can be set up auto update in the catalog so when you add a photo to the folder it will appear in the catalog. You can add keywords, hierarchical keywords, descriptions, etc. and write them back to the original file.
It has some built in editing capability and versioning capability. Clicking on a keyword will display all photos with that keyword quickly. Searches can be made across multiple catalogs and have the results displayed in a new catalog.
I use it as my primary DAM and iPhoto for special projects like books, etc. The catalogs can be viewed and keywords, descriptions added, etc. without the original files being available. You just can't do any editing, slideshows or anything that requires the full sized file.

How do I move an iTunes library from one external drive to another?

I need to move my iTunes library from one external disk to another, because the original disk is about to fail. So, I went into iTunes Perferences --> Advanced, and set the library to a new, empty folder on the new drive.
Nothing changed. I expected all my music to vanish from iTunes, so that I would have to re-import it. However, all the music remained, still on the old disk. At this point, if I were to recreate the library on the new disk, I would have all of my music twice.
Is it possible to move an iTunes library from one external drive to another, or am I stuck with my original choice until I buy a new machine? If I can move it, can one of you clever folks explain how it could be done?

Consolidate is still part of iTunes.
It is in iTunes menu File > Library > Manage library > Consolidate.
The article you linked to is old and it is (and was) a hacky way of doing it.
Just copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder to new location, hold Option (Mac) or Shift (Windows) when launching iTunes.

How to Move Music Library from one external HD to another

I had about 60GB of music on an external hard drive, nicely organized and "linked to" from iTunes (just upgraded to version 5). I recently purchased a larger external hard drive and basically copied the contents of my older external drive to the new one, preserving all folder structures from the root of the drives down (but the name of the drive itself is different.) I was hoping I could just do a search/replace of the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file in my Music/iTunes folder, to replace the name of the old drive (volume) with the new one. I did, and iTunes launches fine, preserving my playlists, song ratings, etc... but whenever I try to play any of the songs, it says it can't find it (I can manually point iTunes to it, but I don't want to do that for 15,000 songs...) Strange thing, though, is that if I quit out of iTunes and re-open the Library XML file, all the paths have been reset to their original location!! What am I missing? Thanks in advance,

I just want to add that the iTunes folder (with the library xml file and such) is on my local hard drive, in the typical Music/iTunes location. I don't want to simply re-import the songs 'cuz I'd lose playlist contents and ratings, and I don't want to "consolidate" the library because I want to keep my music folders and filenames as I currently have them. Basically, I just want iTunes to realize the songs have simply changed location from one external drive to another... thanks again.

I believe you can do it via Bridge CS or CC. From the Keywords Panel menu, choose Export, then Import on Bridge's Keyword panel in the target computer.
Back-ups Bridge CS6 - Collections, keywords etc.
Photoshop would then pick up on it.

I moved my iPhoto libraries from one hard drive to another and now every time I open a library I have to manually locate the photos. After locating the first file, it works well and remembers the location of the files of all the events, even when the folders containing the actual photos are in several different locations.
The problem is that when I close and open iPhoto, it does not remember where the files were and I have to locate at least a file, all over again.
Does anyone knows if there is a way of making iPhoto "remember" or saving the location of the files?

By default, iPhoto will store its library file under ~/Pictures. To select a library manually in iPhoto:
Ensure that iPhoto is closed.
Hold down the Option key and click on the iPhoto icon in your Dock or launch it from the Applications folder.
Click on Choose Library.
Locate and select the library you wish to use.
Close iPhoto and re-open it. Does it remember the library that you selected?

Not able to copying files/folders from one Document Library to another Document Library using Open with Browser functionality

We have SharePoint Production server 2013 where users are complaining that they are not able to copy or move files from one document library to another document library using “Open with Explorer” functionality.
We tried to activate publishing features on production server but it did not work. We users reported following errors:

In our UAT environment we are able to copy and move folders from using “Open with Explorer” though.
We have tried to simulate in the UAT environment but could not reproduce the production environment.

Hi John and all,
One the newly created web applications that we created few days back and navigated to document library, clicked on “Open with Explorer”, we get this error.
We're having a problem opening this location in file explorer. Add this website to your trusted and try again.
We added to the trusted site in Internet Explorer for this web application, cleared the cache and open the site with same document library but still get the same above error.
However, another existing web application (In same the Farm) that we are troubleshooting at the moment, we are able click on “Open with Explorer”, login in credentials opens and we entered the details we are able to open the document
library and tried to follow these steps:
From Windows Explorer (using with Open with Explorer), tried to copy or move a files to
source document library.
From Windows Explorer moved this file to another destination document library and we got this error.
What we have to achieve is users should be able to copy files and folders using
Open with Explorer functionality. We don’t know why Open with Explorer
functionality not work working for our environment.
Are we doing something wrong?

Itunes library tranfer from one hard drive to another on the same computer

Hello I have two hard drives on my mac g4 and the first has 80gig and i only have 10 gig of memory left to fill in my ipod library so... I want to move the itunes library/song data from one hard drive to another, how do I do this? the ipod has the ability to hold 40gig of songs etc. so I know the main hard drive will be full before my ipod will be... I'm new to apple and have had a pc for several years but had too many problems with viruses and like what I've learned so far on my mac thanks for your help out there... you can email me at [email protected] thanks again for any help out there

For the record, hard drives don't hav ememory it is just storage space.
Anyway, in your user folder you would want to drag the Music folder to the other hard drive. Once that is finsihed copying in the iTunes preferences you would want to point iTunes to the new drive and folder for the music folder it should be using.
