Importing mail from 10.5.8 mail3.6 to 10.6.2 mail 4.1

I used Migration Assistant to load my things from PPC Power Mac to new iMac and, for the
time being, I had both machines on the ethernet.
Some of the incoming mail was picked up by the new, some by the old machine.
Before de-commission the PPC I'd like to transfer its new mails to the iac.
The problems: after every download to my computers the files are deleted on my ISP's computer,
and the mail4 system does not recognise mail3 mailboxes nor archives.
Is there anything else I can do?
I can not upgrade mail3 to mail for on PPC, 'cause 10.5.8 is the latest, under it mail 3.6 is
the top.

I just did that and wanted to close this thread. I thought hat mail 4 did not understand mail 3,
but my problem was that as far as the transfer was concerned, I was a guest, not the owner of
the archive. When I sorted this out, it went like greased lightning.
Thank you for your confirmation that the mail 4 understands mail 3.

Have you contacted your email provider and asked if for some reason that sender or domain has been blacklisted?

The Genius at the Apple bar in NY that was awesome in working with us MUCH preferred to use IMAP, he even talked with Yahoo Business Support for us on the spot, unfortunately as he and I understood the conversation IMAP is not an option with Yahoo Small Business email on the iPhone...Correct Alan?
Correct. The email account provider must support accessing the account as an IMAP account.
When creating an Yahoo account with the iPhone's Mail client using the Yahoo account preset, the account is created as an IMAP account with Push access for received messages. The problem with this is you can't create and access the account as an IMAP account with an email client on your computer - with any other email client.
So to get IMAP what do we need to do...No more iPhone?...No more Yahoo Small Business email?...Not sure what our next step is but this we do know, our business is suffering because of this alone.
If you want IMAP account access, you need to switch to an email account provider that supports IMAP account access.
You can access a Gmail account as an IMAP account.
There may be a 3rd party service that provides Exchange account access without your company needing to invest in an Exchange server.

How do i stop mail from synchronising and downloading old messages on the google mail server

its downloading over 300 000 messages up until 2004! and whenever i go online from mail on the mac it starts the process all over again. are there settings anywhere from where i can stop this

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

I have thousands of e-mails in my in box such that 'select all' will not work.

Click the first email. Scroll down a ways and hold the Shift key while you click an email way down the list. This selects that group of email. Tap the Delete key to delete that group. Repeat as often as needed until Select All works.

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.

I am getting a 404 Not Found error when I try to access Yahoo Mail from Firefox. I can log in but Yahoo Mail will not open. It will open in IE. The problem is here at home.

How do I change "Mail" from '.Mac' to use SBC/AT&T as my mail system?

I have dropped ".Mac" since the only feature I used was mail, and now have SBC/AT&T as my internet and mail system. Currently, I have to go on the internet to retrieve mail, so I want to set up "Mail" so that I can go to that instead. HELP!
Speak 'slowly' as I am NOT a computer whiz...(but I follow directions perfectly).

Depends on which version/service of SBC/AT&T you're on.

Basically, put the info shown under the POP, SMTP section into the corresponding boxes in the setup window for the account.

Reading mails from Hmail Server

I am using an java mail api to read mails from a hmail server.I was successfull in reading mails and analysing it further but the problem that i face is my program could read only the recent mails ,all the remaining unread mails were not accessible from the java code.......i am attaching my code...

You might want to use IMAP to read mail from hMail Server, if you keep messages on server. It has a lot more features for managing messages on server.
A lot of POP3 implementations (both client and server side) will automatically delete retrieved messages. I don't know exactly what JavaMail does in that regard, nor of hMailServer, but I do know some mailservers out in the wild will ALWAYS delete mails retrieved with POP3.

Transfer mail from Outlook express 6 on Windows XP to Mail on iMac

I want to transfer mail from Outlook express 6 running under Windows XP to Mail on a Macbook Pro running Tiger.
I have a network set up and can access the outlook identities, but neither Entourage nor Mail will recognise the entities when I try to use the import function. I suppose they are looking for outlook express 5 which runs on Mac OS 9.
Is there a way to do this. I would think that if Apple is keen for people to move over to Mac, this would be an area which will be a concern to a lot of people.

There is no way for anyone to know if your problem is identical to the problem reported by maria_diaz. She didn't mention anything about getting the "relaying" message. I suggest you start a new question that gives a good title to a specific problem. Then in the body of the thread describe the problem in detail, tell us what steps you have tried so far to correct the problem, what happened, and what error messages you received.

There is two way, you could add plugin to see mail from SAP to your Outlook, or you could send mail from sap to a SMTP.
To send mail from SAP to SMTP see transaction SCOT. (if you are running an Unix SAP server, that would be easy)
