Importing Menus from other Desktop Environments

I'm on Openbox. I feel my GNOME menu is complete but I don't use GNOME. I want to know if there is away, a program or anything, to import the menu from other Desktop Environments into my OpenBox right click menu.
Thank you.

I think you'll find what you need under GNOME/XDG

most times when I import photos from my desktop or dropbox to iPhoto, iPhoto will keep the title I created for the image as the display title under the image. but occasionally it displays the filename instead and I have to go back through and reenter the title in iPhoto. why the inconsistency? running OS 10.9.5 and using iPhoto 9.5.1

Try this:  select one of the photos that are showing the wrong title and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to File Name menu option.
See if that will put the name that you want under the thumbnail.

  • Using the Import utility from other users and going to a different schema

I has a user today with rights
Insert into XXXX.TABLE values(); Works just fine for another schema's table which has select, insert, update, delete.
We tried to utiile the import utility from OTHER USERS
    Insert failed ORA-00942
Do you want ot ignore all errors
Even though we have rights to the schema under OTHER USERS.
When connected as the owner it works fine.

I've be trying to find a work-around to this issue & found this old post -- I'm having the same problem.
    I'm using Oracle 11g and SD 2.1.1.64.
I have user A with a table that grants select, insert, update, and delete privs to user B. Logging into user B I, of course, can do inserts, deletes, etc. on the the table in user A's schema.
When I use the import data feature to load data from a CSV file I can't get it to work while logged into user B. It does work fine if logged into user A. It looks like the issue may be that it doesn't put the schema prefix of "A." on the insert statements.
Has anyone found a way to get around this issue yet?

  • What does "Easily import photos from other applications" really mean?

What does "Easily import photos from other applications" really mean in the Lightroom 4 features list? I also see it stated as "...from other software" as well. Yes, I understand the LR can import from Elements libraries but can't find any reference to other applications anywhere, not in the online help, not in the user guide, not in any videos on Adobe TV. It would be nice if LR could see into iPhoto or Aperture libraries but that doesn't appear to be the case. Is that assumption correct? What other applications can LR import from?

    Hello bbb34vball,
Since that article didn't help, I would suggest trying the steps in this article next:
iOS: Unable to import photos to computer - Apple Support
If that doesn't resolve your issue, you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action.

  • Failure importing video from the Desktop in iMovie 2009?

When I attempt to import a folder of .MOV videos from the desktop into an existing project in iMovie 2009, it appears to go through the loading and importing steps, but the entire process and loading bar only occur for a matter of seconds, and no video appears to be imported.
I have tried importing the video as a new event, and the process happens the same way, this time creating a new event folder in the Event Library, but with nothing in it.
I have tried selecting only one video, also to no avail.
I have also tried to import videos formatted in .AVI, this failed.
Anyone had this issue, or know a fix/workaround? At this point I don't know how to import video from the hard drive into a new project at all. Dragging the files from desktop to event frame within iMovie does not work either.

Well, I think the 9-pin to 4-pin cable is the best way to go. Get your camera's power adapter out and plug the camera into the wall first. Once the camera's got power, put it into VCR/playback mode. Then also go into the Menus on the camera and also check your manual to make sure you are sending the video signal out through the firewire and not just through the RCA video jacks. I don't know if the GL2 has a control for the Firewire jack, but just double-check that to make sure it's turned on.
Now setup the Mac to recognize the camera. Shut it down completely and plug the firewire cable into the Mac. Make sure your camera hasn't gone to low power/sleep mode. Startup the Macintosh, when you see the desktop appear launch iMovie. Then go to File Menu > Import from Camera. And in that window that pops up it should list your GL2 in addition to the iSight webcam.

  • How do use home sharing to import items from other iTunes library?

Okay - the help section in iTunes is not helpful.  I am trying to import items from my girlfriend's library and vice versa.  We have home sharing turned on.  I can see her library and she can see mine.  According to the HELP section, I should be able to choose a cateogry i.e. MUSIC.  Then there is supposed to be a "Show" menu at the bottom of the iTunes window and I should choose "items not in my library" then select the items I want to import and click import.
PROBLEM:  I can choose a category but there is no SHOW Menu at the bottom of the iTunes window which allows me to select items and import them into my library.
    Suggestions???

Well I guess I am not sure now that you asked.
In ITunes - under "Preferences" I have Sharing turned on so it says sharing my library on local network.
    AND
In ITunes - under "File" I have Home Sharing turned on.
    Does this answer your question?

  • How do I import music from other libraries on the same computer?

We have four separate accounts created on our iMac for four different users. Each of these accounts has an iTunes library associated with it. I would like to be able to import music from one iTunes library to another. I would be grateful for any help!

To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support article linked below.
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
There is a way to share the library without moving it to a secondary volume. If you really need to do that, ask for instructions.

  • Importing data from other system - cvs files

    hi
What is the best way to import 3 cvs files from other accounting system
The 3 files contains data about customers and few more custom fields that I need to create in Business one
    (more information about the cusomter)
I need to import the files every day
    Thank you

    Hi Ofer,
I read you need to do this import every day. With the DTW you have to do this manually(?).
Another (however expensive) option is to use iBOLT from <a href="http://www.magicsoftware.com">Magic Software</a>.
We also have a customer wich get's every day a few .csv files by email. iBOLT does get the .csv from the mailbox, does some preperation and imports the data into SBO. No user interaction required.
    Kind regards,

  • ICR - Importing Data from Other SAP Systems for Reconcilaition

    Dear Ralph and Other Experts,
At my current engagement we need to import data from a subsidiary separate SAP system for reconciliation. There are scenarios where one side of an Interco document is posted in the corporate system and the other half is posted in the subsidiary's system. The posts from the subsidiary are totaled by comp code account and trading part and then posted in the corporate system.
This will make it challenging to run automatic rule assignments because scenarios will arise where one document in the subsidiary needs to be matched to many documents in the corporate system.
I did some searching on changing the DataSource   in FBIC008 for certain company codes to file upload or external but cannot find documentation on how to complete the configuration or how this functionality it works. Has anyone used this functionality? Could somebody please explain or link me to a document about using this external or file upload functionality in the ICR system.
    Best,
    John S

    Hi Frank,
Below are my thoughts, these are only conceptual and haven't had an opportunity to try these possibilities, also not sure if this is the right thing.
    1) Create an entry in DBCON using TCode: DBCO for the Database of system SAP2. Now in the application of SAP1 use the "SET CONNECTION" construct as the very first statement, so that consecutive SQL statements will point at the DB of SAP2.
    2) I have read somewhere that the Work Processes are connected to the Default database and i am not sure if you can change this setting, but if you can and provided you have have multiple application servers in your SAP1 landscape, then pick one of the application servers and change the settings on the WP to point at the DB of SAP2, you have the end users login to this particualr app server.
    3) If there are multiple app servers in SAP1 landscape, then choose one of the app servers and change the default database setting to point at DB of SAP2.
    Regards,
    Chen

  • Importing metadata from other catalogs

Can aperture import metadata from any programs except iPhoto? If not then is the only way to get data on old files into Aperture via embedded IPTC metadata? iView Media Pro and Extensis Portfolio can export metadata databases. I've got about 3000 keyworded photos in a Portfolio catalog - the keywords have not been embedded into the files and I was hoping to import the database into Aperture

Aperture imported basic metadata (Byline, State, etc.) that I had entered on some jpegs. However, it did not import anything on the thousands of DNG's I imported. Also didn't import anything one several test CRW+xmp sidecar files.
I'm guessing Aperture is taking the stance that the RAW files should never be modified... and if one follows that rule to the extreme, how would any RAW file have any IPTC metadata to import in the first place? So it doesn't bother to check for it, at least in my case.
I'm guessing any program that has a scripting interface that accesses metadata fields will be able to be scripted so one can transfer metadata. They basically work like this:
tell application Iview to get "city" metadata from "picture 1" and put this metadata in "city" metadata in "picture 1" in application Aperture.
This obviously isn't correct syntax, but there is no reason why you couldn't ask for a specific field of metadata from one program and store it in a completely different field, thus making up your own "custom" mapping. For example, you could ask for the "city" in one program and map it to the "Byline" in another program, if both programs expose these fields and the ability to read/write to them via Applescript.

  • Problems importing mail from other apps

I cannot get an Intel Mac until I have successfully transferred all my email to OSX from other apps that only run in Classic. I managed the Outlook Express mail perfectly by importing it into Entourage. Unfortunately I cannot get the same result for the (older) Netscape mail.
This is the situation : Netscape Communicator is on an external HD with the emails (in System Folder:Preferences:Netscape Users). I use Classic to see all the messages and folders, but cannot import them into either Entourage or Thunderbird. What happens is ...
Entourage : fails at final step - "necessary file Netscape Communicator cannot be found"
Thunderbird : fails to insert the Netscape Users profiles folder and offers no dialogue to navigate to it
This one little detail (several hundred mail messages extending back to 1999) is preventing me from abandoning my G5 that runs Classic. Once I upgrade to Intel this will be lost forever unless I can get it into OS X somehow. Any ideas?

    Sadly, no
Eudora (I tried 5.2) will only import from Claris emailer or Outlook - it offered to "Search disk" for other apps, but didn't let me define WHICH disk so I could point it at my external HD where the System Folder and Netscape currently live.
The good news is, I finally managed to get it into Entourage! Previously I had tried to import 'everything' from Netscape, but when I narrowed the list down to just Messages (which is all I really wanted anyway) suddenly it worked. So now I have everything in Entourage, and except for the occasional lamented game, I have no need to run Classic ever again.

  • [S]Consequences of installing libs from multiple desktop environments?

Right now I'm using xfce4. But I found myself wanting to install some software that has KDE libraries as its dependencies. In the past I restrained myself and searched of an alternative software that would not pull a whole array of libraries from some other desktop environment. But now I started to think whether or not it would be a bad thing.
E.g. right now I want to install okular. It will pull "kdebase4-runtime" (which will pull "kdelibs4" and so on). I wonder what would be the consequences of installing those libraries, considering that I already use xfce4. In particular I'm interesting in following (and please sorry if those questions are too noobish):
    1) Will I actually accidentally install the full k desktop environment by automatically installing all those dependencies and the only way I'll be able to use any software that wants to pull some KDE dependencies is if I actually will use full KDE?
    2) Whether those libraries will be "passive" and be used only to support the applications that require them or will they actively slow down the system even if they not used and not being called?
And will there be any other problems or drawbacks if I'll install those dependencies?
    Thanks in advance!

Accidentally?  No.  Not unless you put on a blindfold and start pecking at the keyboard while running pacman.  If a package does actually require all of KDE as a dependency, then you will either install the full desktop intentionally, or not at all.  In the former case, there will still be no need to "use" KDE.  One can have many desktops installed on the same computer - they don't run by just being installed, you have to invoke them.
CoolArchBro wrote:2) Whether those libraries will be "passive" and be used only to support the applications that require them or will they actively slow down the system even if they not used and not being called?
They'll be as passive as any of the data on your hard drive.  If drive space is at a premium, this might be an issue, but if you are not filling up your drive, then having something installed will have no effect what so ever.
I have a bit of an OCD minimalism: I track down any unused packages and eliminate them - I've even removed several 'base' packages.  But this does absolutely nothing to improve performance on my system, it's more of just a 'hobby' or chance to learn what all the different pieces do.

  • Unable to add/import images from other sources

    Hi,
I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4, and I'm trying to import images that were captured on another Mac using iPhoto 2 and then burned to CD so that I could take them home. When I go to "Add to Library", it tells me that iPhoto could not import the files because they may not contain valid data or it may be an unrecognized file type. The file type is the same. Whether it's valid data or not is impossible for me to interpret since the pics open up in any image editing program just fine.
    Any suggestions or work arounds?
    Sophie

    Hi Sophie,
Where are the images that you are trying to add to the library?
did you put them in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder manually?
If you did, drag them to the desktop, then add them to the library.

  • Importing Keywords from other DAM Software (Cumulus)

    Hi,
A client is currently switching from analog to digital photography. She is a professional garden photographer. The switch to digital photography comes along with establishing a raw processing workflow and therefore she is impressed with Lightroom's integration of DAM and raw processing.
Before she was filing her large portfolio of color slides, inside a Cumulus image database, using small scans of her slides for orientation in the database and creating contact sheets for her clients. In the Cumulus database she has established a large hierachical keyword vocabulary, containing flower and plant species, their genus, family, order, class, phylum etc., you probably know what I mean. Some of the keywords have associated synonyms.
The new Lightroom catalog will only contain the new digital images, so that the old images from the Cumulus database will not be migrated into the new Lightroom catalog. Of course the client wants to import the Cumulus keyword hierarchy into the Lightroom catlog.
I have the following questions now:
1.) Is there a *practical* (I do not mean technical) limit to the amount of keywords Lightroom can handle (speed)?
2.) How can we import a keyword vocabulary from an external program into Lightroom? Is there any base format, such as CSV, which we could use? The Cumulus version the client uses does not support XMP, and since XMP only relates to a particular image, that would not help anyway. Where is the keyword vocabulary stored? Has somebody experience with such a migration issue?
3.) I have notice that Lightroom supports synonyms to keywords. However, I have not found any way to use them. My impression was that they were not regarded in keyword or text-based searches. Maybe I overlooked something.
So, I hope anybody has some ideas.
    Kind regards
    Thomas Gülden
    Hof, Germany

    Hi
I try to give you few brief answers.
    1) I have almost 1000 keywords (including synonyms) and I don't have problems. But at least some previous versions of Lightroom were unusable with controlled vocabularity keyword set which contains something like 11000 keywords. I haven't recently heard any comments about large quantity of keywords. So someone with more experience should comment on that.
    2) You can import keyword hierarchy to Lightroom from text file. File should have keywords in tab intented hierarchy, with one keyword in line. If I recollect correctly the file should be in UTF-8 character set (this is important if you have some non ascii characters in keywords). Synonyms are marked with {} and keywords that are not exported with [].
    3) Synonyms are written as keywords when images are exported. As far as I know current search tool does not support synonyms (yes, this is weird).
Hope this helps at least a bit.
