Importing Metadata into InDesignCS3

Hi all,
Does anyone know how I would go about importing specific fields of Metadata into InDesign at the same time I'm importing a graphic? For example, I have a n image of Ajax. In the 'description' metadata field I have ad copy associated with that image. When I import that image into InDesign, I'd like to import that copy as well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

You should be able to use the "Create InDesign Contact Sheet"

  • Error while Importing Metadata into DAC Repository

    Hi,
    After the successful first time login into DAC and creating repository, when I try to import metadata into DAC repository.
    DAC > Tools > DAC Repository Management > Import
    I don't see any Applications listed under "Application List"
    Can anybody suggest the troubleshooting steps for this?
    Regards,
    Jitendra

    If this is the first time that you are importing make sure that the directory you are importing from is like this -
    C:\OBIEE\OracleBI\DAC\export
    If this is not the first time then
    Can you go inside the following directory
    C:\OBIEE\OracleBI\DAC\log
    and check for export.log - Look for Applications Section, if you have any application then you had exported it and you should see it under the applications tab when importing otherwise you don't !!Since its an xml file that is generated i believe you have not exported by selecting the applications yo want and that is your problem.
    Hope this helps !!
    Cheers,

  • Unable to Import metadata into RPD

    Hi,
    I have installed OBIEE 111.1.1.6 on the sever and OBIEe client tools on my local desktop.
    now when i am trying to import metadata into my rpd by connecting to database it shows me the error "Unable to connect"
    can you please let me know if i am missing any prerequisties on my local desktop or any settings that i need to actualy srt importing?
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    If the call interface is OCI, enter a full connect string or a net service name from the tnsnames.ora file you set up within the Oracle Business Intelligence environment, in ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.
    If you are using a native interface for a different database, enter the name of the database for that system.
    If the call interface is ODBC, the data source name field displays a list containing all the User and System DSNs defined for ODBC on the local computer. Select the correct one for the data source to which you want connect.

  • How to import metadata into EPMA application by using ODI

    Hi All,
    1.Can you tell anyone, how to import metadata into EPMA application by using ODI. Detailed steps with screen shots will be appreciated.
    2. What was the interface tables. How the interface tables will be useful while importing metadata into EPMA application (Detailed steps with screen shots will be appreciated.). And tell me the interface tables structure and work process. give me the clear idea bout interface tables. I don't know anything about interface tables.
    3.Which method(either using ODI or Interface tables) is optimized/bestcase for importing metadata into EPMA application.
    My database is Oracle 10g and I am using Planning 9.3.1.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks And Regards,
    Bhagya Lakshmi.

    Hi,
    Answer to your questions
    1. You can't import metadata directly into EPMA using ODI, the only option is use the EPMA interface tables which is your question 2.
    2. Interface tables are just a structure of database tables which you populate with metadata and then this is pushed into EPMA, the structure of the tables takes a while to get an understanding of. The best place to start would be the documentation :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/bpma_admin.pdf
    3. As explained in question 1 you can't use ODI directly to import metadata into EPMA but with a lot of hard work and effort you could probably populate interface tables from EPMA, though I must admit I am not a fan of the interface tables because I don't think they were designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind.

    Hello,
    I just installed OBIEE and OBIAPP as well as Informatica and am now trying to login to DAC client to import metadata into the DAC repository. So Tools->DAC Repository Management>Import. After I checked Universal and Siebel 8.0 and clicked OK button, there is nothing happening. I can actually still click on the Cancel button to close the Import window.
    Has anyone experienced this before? Really appreciate some help here.
    Thanks,

  • Importing metadata into second project

    Hello,
    In order to keep things clean in the development project I want to create another project and point it to our test environment. When I try to export an existing project and import it into the new one it tells me that the objects already exist in the repository and it doesn't import. Is there another way to copy mappings, tables ect to another project within the same design repo? I realize that I will need to setup new target modules, locations, ect.
    Thanks for your help!
    Jaycie

    Thank you for your help. I did what you said and renamed the project throughout the mdl file, but I am still getting the following error:
    PROJECT with Unique Object ID (UOID) <F649716A0ED631D1E030010AD4C97030> already exists, so PROJECT with physical name <HPDW_T> and business name <HPDW_T> not imported.
    Because it keeps the uoid the same it won't import.
    Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Problem importing metadata into opensso IDP with SP Entity ID with

    I have a client using "Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1.1 Patch06" with OpenSSO as a IDP and I have an SP installed on my Solaris 10 server. The EntityID I have for my SP contains a 'dash' in it and the IDP administrator is indicating that the '-' in the name is causing errors. They say if they remove the '-' then the data imports fine. The error they get when trying to import my SP metadata is
    Entity descriptor "https://company.pkg-smart.com/shibboleth" under realm "/" has invalid syntax.
    Can someone give me direction on how to allow dashes in the SP entity Id please? The opensso documentation shows samples of SPs with dashes in the name so I do not know if there is something else that needs to be set. Although I am not using OPENSSO, my SP works fine with other non-opensso IDPs.
    We suggested url encoding the entityID but there was unclear indication that it was generating errors/warning.
    I appreciate any assistance or direction, especially for any other forums that may help.
    Thanks

    Hi Ben,
    Thanks for fast response
    So should that {{CustomObject[...].Contact.Field(C_EmailAddress)}} bit go into the definition instead of {{CustomObject[265].Field[916]}}, or into the identifier field name bit, or somewhere else?
    Thanks

  • How to Import Metadata into another projec

    I am using OWB 10.2. Is there a way to specify which project you want the meta data to be imported to? For instance, I have projectA and Project B. I want to import the meta data into project B. Is this possible?

    I think that idea of user533778 (renaming projects) should work.
    But with my note:
    1) export project A
    2) rename project A to A1
    3) rename project B to A
    4) import project from file (and don't forget set importing option!!!)
    5) rename projects backward (A->B, A1->A)
    Try to set import options:
    - "Import option" to "Update metadata (replace existing objects and create new metadata)"
    - "Match by" to "Names"

  • Import Bridge CS4 metadata into LR3?

    Is it possible to import metadata into LR3 that I've created in Bridge CS4?
    Another thread here said it's possible, but there was no explanation on how to proceed.

    Yes it is possible.
    The "metadata shuttle" between Bridge and Lr is the XMP-file.
    ( As an aside: Strictly speaking LR writes metadata to xmp-file (side-car file) only in the case of Raw images, whereas in the case of JPGs, TIFFs, PSDs the metadata is written into the header of the file. I suspect that this is the same in Bridge. But in >Catalog Settings >Metadata tab the term "XMP" is used indiscriminately.)
    To import the metadata that was created in Bridge in Lr, do a <Read metadata from file> via >Metadata >Read Metadata from file (in the Library Module), or >Photo >Read metadata from file (in the Develop Module).
    Please be aware that by < read metadata from file> the complete set of metadata will be imported, including any develop steps you might have done in Bridge, and this will overwrite all metadata already done in Lr (including develop edits which are also metadata). I believe this will even be so in case you have done no develop steps in Bridge, i.e. any develop steps done in Lr will be overwritten with "0". <Read metadata from file> cannot be undone, and there will be a warning to that effect. A selective reading of metadata (for instance keywords only) is not possible.
    So you have to import the metadata from Bridge as a first step right after importing the photo in Lr, and before you do anything in Lr.
    The "metadata shuttle" works also from Lr to Bridge if you <Write metadata to file>.
    Color labels will be imported correctly only if the textual descriptions for the individual labels are identical in Bridge and in Lr.

  • Error in Importing Metadata in OBIEE 11G

    Then i start creating RPD in offline mode when i click on import meatdata after that Import meatadata- select datasource screen i choose ODBC 3.5 and choose the
    same DSN which i check previously and give the same user id and password it is giving me error The connection has failed.I also tried using OCI 10g/11g and in data source name i give the full connection string and giv the user id and password but still the problem remain same.
    Can anyone please help me in debugging the issue.

    Hi everyone,
    A few days ago I installed the Administration and Clients OBIEE11g tools on my machine. To do so follow these steps:
    - Install Weblogic Server 10.3.3
    - Install OBIEE 11g using 'Software Only'.
    I selected this installation because BI Server is installed on a Linux server.
    In the machine on which I installed previously existed the following products:
    - Oracle Client 10.2
    - Oracle ODBC Driver 10.2.0.2
    When trying to import Metadata into the repository, using Administrative tool in OBI 11g the import fails with both, ODBC and OCI drivers. Always the same error appears: “The connection has failed.”
    I created the tnsnames.ora file (which points to the database) in the path [Middleware Home] \ OracleBI1 \ network \ admin.
    I tried to import metadata for replacing the DSN connection string. For this I have followed this syntax: (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = [ip_address]) (PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = [db_name ]))). But it does not import metadata. Always the same error appears: 'The connection has failed. "
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.

    thanx..

    Hi,
    You can merge objects from other repositories into an existing one. Please follow the below link regarding the steps to achieve the same:

  • How to import XMP-MP metadata into organizer

    I have a fairly large number of photos with face tag metadata.  Since Adobe is part of the working group that developed the XMP metadata standard, imagine my surprise to find out that Photoshop Elements 11 doesn't use it!
    Is there any external program you guys know about to import face tag metadata into the organizer?  I used Windows Photo Gallery to do the face tagging and it properly writes the metadata to the XMP fields.  Problem is the photoshop organizer doesn't read the XMP fields!  It's using it's own standard(?)
    We are talking thousands of photos here so re-tagging is just not an option.  Is there a way to get photoshop to import the tags and regions?
    Struggling User

    I think most of us who deal with large amounts of photos usually have a multi-application approach to things.  No one application does it all.  I crossed the 10,000 image point some time back and the thought of face tagging all that again makes me more than a little queasy!
    I looked at PSE 11's organizer and realized it was very close to what I want.  I'm going to use PSE for pixel editing anyway so it looks like an ideal one-size-fits-all application.  However, of course I now know PSE doesn't use tags in the same way as others.  So it's just a deal breaker plain and simple.
    Right now I use:
    Photo Gallery (formerly Window Live Photo Gallery) for organization and face tagging and subject tagging
    GeoSetter for location tagging by the way it recognizes the Microsoft face tag data so I can use the people tags to sort in that app too
    ExifTool for metadata manipulation where needed (camera data or other interesting info)Also note the ExifToolGUI (no longer maintained also recognizes the Microsoft face tag metadata)
    Photoshop Elements for pixel editing
    I use the face tags as keyword tags so you get a double benifit.  The big deal of course however is the face region tag.  Having a picture of many people and a separate list of keywords isn't helpful.  You only know that John Smith is in the photo somewhere but you don't know which person he is!  Like you said however, it's not important to everyone.
    I will keep researching this.  I'm betting someone has written an app to extract one set of data and make it available to another app.

  • How do you import  (or convert) XMP metadata into iPhoto '08?

    Having recently made OS X my primary operating system, I switched from using Picasa/Windows Photo Gallery on Vista to catalogue my photos to iPhoto '08. However, the 7,000+ pictures I have all have XMP metadata tags. None of them show up in iPhoto '08 after import. Needless to say, I am not looking forward to having to retag 7,000+ pictures in iPhoto.
    I know people in various forums, here and elsewhere, have said that iPhoto '08 does not do XMP at all. Is this true? Is there a workaround or plugin? I find it weird that XMP has been an open standard since May, and 6 months later, there isn't a plugin or solution, especially from Apple. Unless I am just daft and missing something obvious, which is entirely possible.
    At any rate, I would really appreciate any help in me not having to retag over 7,000 pictures...thanks in advance!

    mrbofus:
    Do you still have the PC and the photos on it? If so you might look into the demo version of iView MediaPro and see it if can read those Picasa files and embed the metadata into the files like it can when reading an iPhoto library on the Mac platform. If it can, you'll be able to write the metadata to the files and bring them over again to the Mac and import into a new library. This is only speculation as I'm not conversant in Windows at all.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IMPORTING keywords/metadata into Bridge

    I've followed the thread here: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?127@@.3bbaa316.3bbb9835
    which goes into great detail as to how to export the data... but no mention of importing, even though it's titled as so.
    Is there a way to IMPORT metadata, specifically keywords, into Bridge?
    Ideally I would have a csv file, with file name in one column, keywords in next, import this and the rest is self explanatory obviously.
    any help is appreciated

    Ok here is a quick idea on how to do it...
    CSV file in the format
    FULL filename including path
    keywords seperated by a semicolon eg:
    C:/Pictures/China/Paul/P1000662.JPG,Fred;Joe
    C:/Pictures/China/Paul/P1000663.JPG,Graham;Paul
    C:/Pictures/China/Paul/P1000664.JPG,Paul
    code......
    #target bridge
    //Amend filename to suit
    var csv = new File("c:/a/csvmetadata.csv");
    csv.open("r");
    while(!csv.eof){
    strInputLine = csv.readln();
    if (strInputLine.length > 3) { // Make sure it isn't a blank line
    strInputLine = strInputLine.replace(/\\/g,'/'); //Change backslash to forward slash.
    inputArray = strInputLine.split(",");
    var csvFile = new File(inputArray[0]);
    if(csvFile.exists){ //Check if file exists
    writeMetadata(inputArray[0],inputArray[1]);
    function writeMetadata(file,keys){
    item = new Thumbnail(file);
    md =item.synchronousMetadata;
    md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/photoshop/1.0/";
    md.Keywords = md.Keywords + ";" + keys; //Append keywords
