Importing MOB files from JVC HDD Camcorder

My JVC hard disk camcorder produces .MOB files. I can get Adobe Premiere CS3 to import the video by changing the file type to .MPG but it refuses to recognize the audio track for any of the types I have tried. According to the GSpot utility, the audio is in AC3 format.
I can import these files just find in Avid Liquid 7 but wanted to use (my newly upgraded) Premiere.
Thanks in advance.

William

Just wanted to let everyone know that moving the DLL from the Encore directory worked a treat. I don't have Premiere Elements and had no idea which MainConcept plugin was the one I wanted - things seem to have become a little more complicated on that front from the last time I looked. Also, they ain't cheap!

  • Important for users of JVC HDD Camcorder and iMovie HD

I've been having problems using iMovie HD to open my JVC HDD camcorder's videos. Some of you have been very kind in pointing me in a few directions. I thought I'd try and return the favor:
I downloaded MPEG Streamclip and the MPEG-2 Playback Component (both of which can be found easily using google), and used Streamclip to export my video files as .dv files - now I'm using iMovie to attend to my videos with no problems (knock on wood). Thanks everyone for your help! Any questions, just ask!

'cause, for sure the JVC HDDcorders record in mpeg2..
in the beginning, mp2 was meant for disk delievry only, but the HDDcorder manufacturers found it as their codec, to compress the hugh sized streams on that 'tiny' harddrives, 'cause there're chips avail, which do the en- and decoding in realtime..

  • Can´t import R3D Files from external HDD

    Hello everyone,
    Hallo Zusammen,
I´ve got a huge problem with importing files from my external Thunderbolt Drive. It´s from LaCie, a 6TB Version connected to a Mid 11 iMac.
Ich habe ein großes Problem beim Import von meiner externen Thunderbolt Festplatte. Es ist eine von LaCie mit 6TB, welche mit einem iMac Mid 2011 verbunden ist.
Since I´ve upgraded from OS X Mavericks to Yosemite I´m not possible to import my R3D Files (Raw footage from RED Camera) from the Thunderbolt Drive anymore. There was no problem
Seit ich meinen Mac von Mavericks zu Yosemite geupgradet habe, ist es nicht mehr möglich R3D Dateien (Rohdatenmaterial von der RED Kamera) von der Thunderbolt Platte zu importieren. Es gab
    at this with Mavericks.
    mit Mavericks keine Probleme.
I´m using Premiere Pro CS6. Importing R3D Files directly from the internal Drive sometimes still working, but with the LaCie it says: Not supported file format..
Same problem with Prelude - all my connections are lost.
Das gleiche Problem habe ich mit Prelude - alle meine Verbindungen wurden gelöscht.
    Java Update is done.
Ein aktuelles Java Update wurde bereits durchgeführt.
    Specs:
    - 6TB LaCie Thunderbold
    - Mid 11 iMac i7
    - Premiere Pro CS6
    - Java 8
It would be awesome if anyone could help me!
Es wäre großartig wenn mir jemand helfen könnte!
    Thanks
    Danke

    Hey Kevin,
thanks for your reply. I fixed the problem.
I need to download these 3 programs from RED:
    RED APPLE WORKFLOW INSTALLER
    RED ROCKET-X™ INSTALLER
    REDCINE-X PRO
After installing and restarting everything works fine - no other problems with importing the R3D files.

Hope it also works for the others,

  • Cannot import .mov files (from JVC HM100) into After Effects CS6

    Hi,
I am trying to import .mov files into After Effects CS6.  Unfortunately, when I try to import the .mov files, AE tells me "After Effects error: 210_0001_01.mov cannot be imported -- this '.mov' file is damaged or unsupported."  The file works in Premiere CS6.   I have the latest Quicktime, and even with Quicktime 7 Pro installed, I got that same result.  I would appreciate any advice on this problem.
    Thank you.

I'm going to set up a new sequence with just the clip I'm using after effects on.  I'm going to import that sequence into AE.
Your footage is currently a long-gop codec, which may be giving Mocha fits.  So instead of Dynamic Link, you may want to simply export the clip in question from Premiere using a lossless codec.  Remember to leave handles on the footage.
To get back to Premiere you would then render in a lossless codec.  It's not very handy, but it will get the job done.
Give it a try and see what happens.

  • CHALLENGE: CAPTURE files from JVC H7 Camcorder to FCE via log and capture.

Thanks to this forum I can now capture from my JVC HD7 in real time. BUT, the utility File>Log and Transfer seems lots better. See www.apple.com/finalcutexpress/ and look at the video AVCHD capture. My JVC AVCHD does not seem to be able to log and capture. Maybe some genius can figure it out. Please help.
    Thanking in advance.
    Don

    Attn: Tom Wolsky.
I was disappointed to hear I could not capture by Log and Capture with the JVCE Everio HD7.
May I ask, Do you know any comparable camcorder with a 60 meg HD that would.
Or what would be the best method to capture from the JVC?
I have your book on order and looking forward to it.
    Thanks for ant help,

  • Can't import MOV files from JVC GY-HM650U Camera

    Hi,
For some reason when I try to import an MOV into premiere that was generated by this JVC camera, I get an error:
" The file has to audio or video streams".
It plays fine in VLC player.  I tried converting it to MP4 using ffmpeg.exe.  Still get the same error.  I don't want to have to re-encode it using another tool just to bring it into premiere for editing, this makes no sense.  Usually premiere is pretty good about bringing in just about any kind of file.
We did recently upgrade to Premiere CC 2014, I never had this problem with the older version.
    Strange.  Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
What model of Kodak is it?
There is a discussion thread on this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11942367&#11942367
Try using a media card reader (sometimes built into printers) to see if that allows the import. Others seem to report having luck by importing the movies off the card using a different computer, deleting them, and then importing the pictures.
    Hope that helps.

  • Huge HD file sizes in iMovie when importing AVCHD files from HD Camcorder

Although several answers have been given on different ways to import HD files from a AVCHD camcorder, in this case a Sony one, the issue is what to do with the HUGE files it creates. I recorded 2 hours of HD content in about 30GB on the camcorder. I can burn those native HVCHD files on DVD's, took 6 of them, and play them on a Blue Ray player in HD. To edit, I tested a sample 50MB file that was about 3 minutes in length. It convered to quicktime file in the same 1920x1080 quality resulted in a file that was about 800MB, looked great, but how do I store or play a 20 minute version of it? iMovie is inadequate to do anything other than produce smaller size files for an iPod or lower quality, unless it is going to be a very short HD movie if doing true HD quality. One of the reasons I took the MAC plunge was the better multimedia capabilities. In this case, Apple (iMove and Final Cut) is behind.
I ended up shifting my HD editing back to a PC with $100 Sony Vegas software that can edit the AVCHD files and author in it. I can produce a DVD with about 25 minutes of edited HD in AVCDH file format and play it. I can also store the finished product in a much smaller space using AVCHD files. I have a 1 TB drive on my Mac that would be consumed if I worked in iMovie with converting all these AVCDH files and kept them in HD quality since it looks like it needs to expand them 12-16 times the AVCHD file size.
Yes, I know I could lower the quality to better work with them in iMovie, but that makes no sense to me. I want to record and edit in the HD format. Seems like these AVCHD cameras are becoming a standard since they are so efficient at storing HD content, iMovie needs to figure out how to edit and store them the same way. Very disappointed in how iMovie handles HD, to me it is NOT very good at handling HD, no good way to store or distribute it.
Am I missing soomething here? I have spent hours looking for a different answer, but have not found one yet? Maybe the next version of iMovie will be better. I like using it for SD DVD authoring, but for HD, did not work at all for me.
    Jon

Interesting you say it is not meant for editing, but there are about a half dozen editor's for windows that will work on these exact files. I know with Sony Vegas that I have the same level of control with frame precision as I do with iMovie so I think there must be more to the story why Apple has not been able to support it like other software manufacturers who support windows. Don't get me wrong, i would love to do the work in iMovie and not have to learn something new. I don't have the storage space to use the HD apple format, that 2 hr of HD in AVCHD would turn into about 500GB then what do I put it on to play it. If the BlueRay standard calls for 25 or 50G disc's and we can get full two hour movies on them today, then they must be using a file format similar to AVCHD to fit on a disc, they cannot be using anything close to what Apple uses for HD files, it is just simple logic and math. So why doesn't Apple finure it out before everyone who starts working in HD comes to the same conclusion that the Apple QT file formats for HD is going to be an issue with space, you can create content, but cannot afford the disc space to store it or play it.

  • Transferring files from JVC Gz-HD7U into iMoviehd

how do i transfer my files from jvc hd camcorder, GZhd7U into imovie hd6-- since i downloaded the new quicktime 7.4 i cant seem to copy , move, transfer or read the tod files from my jvc
please please please.. any help would be appreciated
    eric

    Winston,
Thank you for pinpointing the explanation of the error code. I have no idea why those files would be of invalid duration aa those clips are not more than 8 to 10 minutes long, they should not be too long at all. I seems like the imovie is reading something wrong from those files. None of them are more than 12 minutes long

no you should transcode those files into an format that os suitable for editing. Like proRez. Although you might need some Flip4Mac or perian or something to do the conversion.

When I try to import it on imovie, I only get an option for facetime camera and not my vixia.

  • Importing MTS Files from Canon HF100

I am unable to import MTS files from my Canon HF100 SD card (or camera with card inserted) into iMovie 08. The files are grayed out. I have no problem importing standard definition files from the SD card. There are conflicting posting on this topic (some people appear to have no problems). Apple support tells me I need to get a conversion program. However, the Canon HF100 is listed as a compatible camcorder. I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks.
    Jeremy

It seems like you shouldn't have to convert the files in case there is any loss in quality or file info. If you've only saved the .mts files to your hard drive you might try re-loading them onto the camera using the software that came with the HF100 (i forget was this is called and whether it even works on a Mac - i used a PC). The file structure will be reestablished and then the mac should be able to read it, whether the camera is plugged into the computer via usb, or if you plug the SD card into the usb port.
I haven't tried the whole sequence described above but I've used a variation of it to put movies back on the camera, and also to convert the file structure back onto an SD card that was read by iMovie and a Playstation 3.
In the future remember to download the entire file structure from the SD card if you want to save to a hard drive.
I'm about to install Final Cut Express 4 and work with my HF100 videos so I guess I'll find out soon enough how easily the HF100 files are imported with that.
