Importing Mono CDs question.

I'm importing the 2009 Beatles Mono CDs and the Monkees Mono CDs and I was wondering if there was any encoding I had to do for mono songs. I'm trying to get the best sound that I can for the Mono songs for use on iTunes/Ipod. Thanks for the help.

Then just rip them with your normal import settings, and you will get the best quality sound.
If you want to save space, or to have mono for collector reasons, you can change your import settings to force mono encoding. When you choose "Custom..." Mono will be visible as an option. However, this does not improve the sound quality.
If you do choose to change your Import settings, don't forget to change them back when you are done!

  • IPhone won't play music imported from CDs or mp3s not downloaded from itunes

When I first downloaded iOS 7, all of the music I had in my iTunes synched to my iPhone, but now new CDs I just imported and previous songs I imported from CDs won't synch (I've tried over wifi and usb).  When I click on songs on my phone that were from CDs, they look as if they are going to play and then skip immediately.  Mp3s I downloaded do the same thing.  Mind you, everything was working fine until updating to iOS 7.0.4.  I've been looking around the forums and have found that problems like this are relatively common and it's a shame Apple hasn't done anything to fix it.
When my phone is hooked up and I click on "on this iPhone", it says the music from CDs and mp3s is on, but the titles come up gray with these litte circle things next to them
Just checking now, I noticed some songs I bought from iTunes are doing the same thing.
I tried manually synching, but when I click to drag the songs into my phone, the section that has music, movies, etc. just flashes and nothing happens.  I know something is wrong because I just put a ringtone onto my phone the same way.
Oh, I also noticed that when my iPhone is synching and the steps go through at the top it skips steps 3, 4, and sometimes 5 (The Apple symbol pops up instead then goes straight to 6 and 7) so I know it's not recognizing the fact I put a bunch of new music in iTunes. Also, when I look at the bar at the bottom that shows how much memory is on my phone, this shows up:
and that Documents and Data thing was not there before.
Can someone please give me ideas on how I can stop this rediculousness without buying a new phone?

Did you already try the suggestions mentioned in this article?

  • I have tried loading 3 different cds that I just bought into Itunes and I click the import cd button and it goes through the motions of importing the cds, but when I go to my library none of these cds is there.  Help, please!

I have tried loading 3 different cds that I recently purchased into Itunes.  I click the import cd button and Itunes goes through the motion of copying and importing the cds, but the songs are not in my music library.  I have searched everywhere to find where these cds might be, but to no avail.  Could really use some help here.  Never used to have this problem.

Are they in the relevant artist & album folders when you look via Windows Explorer. If so something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Download the current iTunes Free Single of the Week. I know it sounds odd, but it should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up.

  • WHY DOES IMPORTING CDS INTO THE LIBRARY SEPARATES ARTIST TO ANOTHER FILE INSTEAD OF IMPORTING THE CD TO THE SAME LOCATION ,AND WHEN IMPORTING ANTHOLOGY CDS THE LUMP SEVERAL CDS TOGETHER AS ONE CD OR PLACE MULTILPLE CDS IN THE LIBRARY

when importing cds to the ipod library song with guest artist are not placed in the same flie they are spread all over the library ,so when playing the file they are not all together missing tracks, also importing anthology cds many artist from different cds are lumped together or multiple duplicate cds are in the library i hate this!!!! help!!!

Somebody PLEASE help me.... I keep getting the "itunes has stopped working" error when I import cd's and that it's checking windows for help. That's it! It doesn't tell me how to fix it. Apple stores or the phone support has been ZERO help. I just need to reinstall all these cds that were lost when I plugged in my new ipod to my new computer!!!

  • I recently imported some CDs, the songs loaded fine, they play on the computer and all, but when I go to put them on my iPhone, they don't show up.  Yes I have tried manually selecting them, that too has failed.  This is infuriating, please help!!!!

I have imported some Cds, they play fine on the computer.  When i sleect them to go on my iphone they never show up, this whole icloud set up for music is really annoying.  i wish itunes woudl go back to the way things were, a simple click on a song/album/artist and boom, theyre on your ipod. now you have to finish a maze, get a masters degree, and then solve three riddles before you even can import something from a recently imported CD.

Have you tried deleting the songs from Settings?
Settings -> General -> Usage -> Manage Storage (not the iCloud link!) -> Music and then click Edit to enable you to be able to delete.

  • HT1473 I have always imported my cds into iTunes using one step called 'joining cd tracks' which is done under the "Advanced" drop down menu. I then went on with the process. Half way through the process today the "join tracks' choice greyed out. Not avai

I have always imported my cds (including books) into iTunes using one step called "join cd tracks" which is under the "Advanced" menu. Never a problem. But today I was importing a 10 disc book and on the 7th disc all of a sudden the choice to join cd tracks was greyed out. I have tried it with other discs. No luck. How can I get to this option again. I was not doing anything different so don't know what took away this choice. Can anyone help me?

Thought it had worked but soon found out it had not.
after further days of trying finally, solved it for me Yesterday.
turned off notifications when locked, and bingo, wow.
i have not turned off iCloud but location services are also off.
best thing to do I found was keep checking your usage, settings, general, usage, and flip down to bottom, if the standby and usage are similar there is a problem, if there is a big difference then all is ok. Just keep turning things off and on until the difference is very apparent.
something on my phone was keeping the phone alive even when turned off, and I think this was the phone repeatedly trying to update continually.
to me this is definitely down to the iOS, my wife has exactly same phone and iOS but hers doesn't have any problem and the battery lasts for days.
the guy at the Genius Bar told me to restore the phone via iTunes, not iCloud. This is because iCloud remembers the exact info from your phone and simply reinstates it when you restore, and this includes the iOS too.
when I get home from holidays that's what I'll do, or wait for iOS 8 in few weeks. But I'm so pleased I finally made it work, I was beginning to think ditch the phone and buy Samsung.
anyway anyone out there please try my final solution and let me know if it works for you?

  • When I import my CDs to ITunes it splits some of them into 2 or 3 separate albums. Is there a way I can combine them into one?

When I imported my CDs into ITunes it split some of them into 2 or 3 separate albums. Is there a way to recombine them back into one album?

If your CD has tracks with different artists, then you need to identify it as a 'compilation' CD. Select all of the tracks in the CD, then 'get info' (control-I), and go to 'Options'. Select 'yes' for 'Part of a compilation'. That should fix the problem.

Hi I followed instructions to copy/move iTunes music to a new PC. I can see albums listed in the library but SYNCH will not put any music on my new iPod.
It took three weeks to import my CDs on the old PC and I don't want to do it again!

Take a look here; it should help:
iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
Though it refers to items purchased from the iTunes Store, it applies to all your iTunes content. And if you happen to also own an iPod:
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
Once you have the tracks on some removable medium, you can mount that on your new computer and then just drag the content to the iTunes window. Make sure that the option to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is set in the iTunes -> Advanced -> General preferences before you do. Alternatively, you can use the Add To Library command and select each track (or folder of tracks).
If you won't be using that Windows system once you move the content, don't forget to deauthorize the system from your iTunes Store account before you dispose of the computer.
    Regards.

  • Why does iTunes not allow me to import certain CDs?

I import CDs that I own every so often, and sometimes I get a message that I "don't have access to your iTunes media folder or a folder within it. To change permissions, select your iTunes Media Folder in the Finder, and choose File > Get Info". But, no matter what I do, I can't import those CDs into my iTunes library. It only happens with certain CDs - as well as some songs that I have stored on a backup drive from my PC days - and I have no idea why. What can I do? I'd love to be able to import a bunch of older (80s and 90s) CDs...that I bought!

Not all permissions are altered as stated above. If you are still having problems (probably with just the odd CD which was on your list before) you need to look in your iTunes Music folder (homeuser/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music) within the iTunes folder. There you need to look for a copy of the CD or mp3 file you are trying to upload. If it is already there, highlight it and 'get info' where you will see that despite unlocking the permissions, the file permission for 'staff' (or some other user which you may have defined) is greyed out and locked to 'No Access'. If this is the case, simply delete the whole folder for that CD then try uploading again.
Worked for me after trying many times to change folder permissions on each and every file without success.

  • ITunes crashes when importing some CDs

I am running iTunes 6.0.3 on 10.4.4. This latest version of iTunes has improved my ability to import audio CDs, but I still often see crashes of iTunes when importing into MP3 at 160 kbps (I'd imported long ago at 128kbps).
I have tried all the things recommended in other threads: removing the CD Info.cidb file, removing the com.apple.kernelcaches folder and Extensions.kextcache file. I see similar problems when running iTunes as another user, and have repaired the disk using Disk Utility when booted from my Tiger Install DVD.
As a test, I've tried importing from a particularly obstreperous CD as AAC, and it imports fine. Other MP3 bitrates also crash iTunes.
Given that importing as AAC works, but MP3 doesn't, are there any suggestions on perhaps reinstalling whatever portions of the OS that handle MP3 encoding? I have installed LAME, but the library paths in the crash logs only point to real system libraries. I did an Archive and Install when I updated to Tiger (and that was after installing LAME).

did u get this resolved? i have the same issues...

  • TS1368 I keep getting this error message and can't open the iTunes store. I've reinstalled iT a half dozen times with no results. "Registry settings used by the iT drivers for importing & burning CDs & DVDs are missing" reinstall iTunes

I can't open the iTunes store and keep getting this error message. "Registry settings used by the iT drivers for importing & burning CDs & DVDs are missing. Reinstall iTunes." I've reinstalled iT a half dozen times with no results.

You might have two different things going on at once here.
Starting with the registry settings message.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • I can import newer CDs ... it's just the old ones?

Since I have upgraded beyond iTunes 4.9, I cannot import older CDs, altho new CDs import fine. iTunes can read the older CDs and display the tracks, and even play the tracks on occasion, but hitting the Import button causes an almost immediate freeze and I have to physically turn the PC off and back on. I don't get error messages, just everything locks up.
I have read posts indicating problems with importing CDs in general with Versions 5 and above, but my newer CDs are importing with no problem. It's the older CDs that are problematic. The disks are not damaged or scratched.
Any suggestions are appreciated ... Thanks

  • Tracks imported from CDs prior to 11/08 not playing correctly

95% of the tracks I imported from CDs prior to November of 2008 will not play back correctly in I-tunes or on my Ipod. Tracks that have been imported since then are fine.
If I go directly to the MP3 file on my hard drive and play it through Windows Media Player it plays fine.
Import settings are MP3 High Quality 160 kbps.
If I delete the track in I-tunes and re-import it from the MP3 file on the hard drive it still doesn't play correctly or won't import it at all.
If I delete the track and corresponding file on the hard drive and then re-import the track through I-tunes it is OK.
Is there anyway to "repair" the old transfered files or am I looking at wasting 20 hours of my life deleting and re-importing all of these tracks?

  • ITUNES FAILS TO IMPORT OLDER CDS AND FREEZES

HI ALL--FIRST TIME POSTING LONG TIME READER!
As the description heading indicates, my itunes has started failing to import older cds and hten freezes up? Anyway to circumvent this? How do i import these cds--should i burn same first to a nwer CDR? Please advise. Is this a common problem?

You are getting the opposite of my problem. For me, newer CDs give problems not older ones. There are several options available. No particular order, not all options.
Import as mp3 with another program. (Rip with another program, import with iTunes)
    Update drivers for current drive.
    Replace drive.
    Uninstall then reinstall iTunes/Quicktime.
    New computer. :-}

Rip the CDs with another program on your computer, and add the resulting MP3s to your iTunes library.  (If you use Windows Media Player for this purpose, make sure the Rip Setting is on MP3, or else it will default to a useless format known as WMA.)
