Importing movie clips issue

Our company is creating a marketing project to be distributed
on CD. We have purchased Studio 8 for Mac and I have been given the
task of implementing Flash.
First, a question about structure. We want an intro animation
to loop continuously until user clicks a button. I have that
animation complete. My thinking was to export it as a separate file
then import it into a new Flash doc as a movie clip. Then I can
build the animated buttons and other elements around it. Make sense
or is there a preferred method?
Here's the problem. When I export the animation, the
resulting swf file is just fine. However, when I import it into
another Flash doc (either onto the stage or to the library) as a
movie clip, several items get lost. I have some animated text which
disappears. I have also applied the glow effect to static text. The
static text remains, but the glow is gone. I thought at first that
I was exporting for compatibility to an older Flash player and it
was losing these newer effects, but I'm exporting for compatibility
to Flash player 8.
Help greatly appreciated.

There is no reason to compile it as an swf just to bring it
into a new flash doc. In fact SWF is to
FLA as JPG is to PSD. it is compressed format and almost all
its editability is lost on import.
If you need to bring it into a new doc - either copy frames
and paste frames into new doc - or paste
frames into a new symbol and then copy and paste that symbol
into a new doc - or - drag the symbol
containing your animation from one library to the other
library.

My current os x is 10.9.5, using final cut express vers. 4.0.1.  I have imported .mov clips created on a older mac os x (lion) and when I wanted to import them into fce, a quicktime conversion window opened up and converted them (I haven't experienced this in the past). I then imported the converted quicktime clips into my fce project.  After doing this I took selected clips and put those edited clips on the fce timeline.  When playing the video back in the fce timeline,I noticed
    1) the video wasn't playing back smoothly like the original content
    2) when looking at the timecode reading of the timeline, the timecode was sputtering as well as the video and audio.  I exported to quicktime just to see if that was consistent, it was.
When I play the converted quicktime content independently of fce,  it plays normally (no sputtering of timecode, video and audio.  Need help to resolve the sputtering playback of converted video content in the fce timeline.  I've never experienced this before.  Any suggestions?

When you say you converted the clips before importing them into FCE, did you convert to AIC or DV and do the converted clips match your FCE Sequence settings exactly?  If not, go back and convert the original files again, using the intended Sequence settings as a guide.

  • IMovie HD refuses to import .MOV clips that it used to import.

I've got an odd problem. Doing a search didn't turn up anything relevant to my situation so I'm gonna try to pick some brains on here.
My Problem: My version of iMovie(5.0.2) no longer recognizes .mov clips that it used to. Meaning that when I try to import clips using settings that worked previously, I am now confronted with an Error during import message that reads "The file could not be imported: Unknown Error". Two things have changed since I last made a project.
1.) I have added a microphone that now allows me to record stereo audio. I don't think this is the culprit.
2.) I updated to 10.6.6 Recently. I think this may be what messed things up.
After trying to Drag and also import clips through the menu with no success, I tried to import clips that I have used before under the exact same conditions and was greeted with the same error. This is importing using the HDV 720p setting. If I try to import new or old clips using the standard DV (16:9) setting then everything works.
These same clips are able to be imported into iMovie '09 with no trouble but I am uncomfortable with that interface. Is there anything I can do to continue to work in iMovie HD or would I just be better off with getting used to iMovie 09?
    Thank you for any replies.

I have Mac 10.6.6 and use iMovie 05 transferring it to iDVD 08. It is getting less easy to do, but usually i make the movie in 05, complete with chapter marking and press the export to DVD.
The file for the Movie I have made is saved automatically in the Movie folder on my owner/home page. To get it out to iDVD 08 open 08 and select create new project and click save This puts a small file into Documents, However to get your work into the new DVD select import>video and when the screen opens for you to find it go to your movie folder in your owners area and click to open the file. It works, but there is usually a problem somewhere along the line. Usually a different one each time, occasionally it goes like clockwork. It won't work if you try the drop down 'open' option.
This last time I got so irritated that I've downloaded the last set of film clips to 05 and then transferred them to 08 to compare the results. I still feel that the later versions are less good (?dumbed down) and await to be converted.

  • Can't drag and drop or import movie clips or ver. 8 projects into iMovie 9

    Hello:
I just installed Leopard (OS X) with iLife and iWork (although I didn't actually install iWork). I can't drag and drop .mov or .dv files into a project. If I "File-->Import-->Movies", all the types I want to import (.mov & .dv) are grayed-out. I created and saved a project with the older version of iMovie (8) and then tried to import it into iMovie 9. The result is a message in the clips panel that says "No matching video. Choose a different options from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner." So far, everything I wanted to do is bust. Can somebody help?
    Thanks.

I have tuns of .mp4 clips, converted them to .mov clips... .
    How?
    easy way:
    • double-click mp4 to open it in QuicktimePlayer.app
    (does it play the video?)
    • File/Export/choose 720p (if optional, if not 480p)
    • import THAT into iMovie using iMovies import routine, proceed …

  • Why do imported movie clips take up so much space?

I've recently moved over from a Windows PC to a Mac, and have been busy transferring over all my music, photos and videos. The problem I'm having is with the videos... they seem to be taking up far too much space on the Mac.
On the PC, the size of all the movie clips combined is 56.2 GB, but on the Mac the exact same clips take up 261.77 GB (the size of the iMovie events folder). And that takes into account the size of the thumbnails and the "iMovie Original Movies" folders (I actually emptied all of the "iMovie Original Movies" folders completely).
If I look at the size of one specific video (a .mov file), then it starts getting a little crazy. One that takes up 27.2 MB on the PC will take up 149.7 MB on the Mac. Another takes up 17.4 MB on the PC and 109.7 MB on the Mac. They are still the exact same files -- nothing has changed, nothing has been edited, they've simply been imported into iMovie at the optimized size (960x540) though the iMovie DropBox.
I don't understand why they have ballooned in size by such a great amount.
If anyone has any clues about how I can get the file sizes down, or any ideas about why they are so large, that would be great

  • Importing MOV clips into Premier Elements 10

I'm trying to import Qucktime MOV clips into Adobe Premier Elements 10 but they install as audio files only. How can I get them to load as video clips so I can construct a movie from them?

    Hi
I'm using a Mobius 1080p HD camera shooting in HD producing MOV files.
I've inspected one of the files using Quicktime/Windows and the information is
    Format - H.264. 1920 x 1080. Millions 16 bit Integer (Little Endian). Mono. 32.000 Htz
    Movie FPS = 30.00
    Playing FPS = 30.00
    Data Size 401.47 MB
    Data Rate 18.19 mbits/sec
    Duration 00.03.05.00
    Normal Size 1920 x 1080 pixels
    Current Size 1920 x 1080 pixels
The clips play in excellent quality HD and without a problem in Windows Media Player
I have reformated some in MP4 format and they will play back in Premier Elements after a fashion.. but very slow and jerky making editing just about impossible. I have reloaded Adobe Premier Elements on another computer but get the same results.
It appears Adobe Premier Elements is not up to dealing with these files.

  • Importing movie clips from internet

I am trying to import some movie clips from the internet. Any suggestions? I tried saving on MAC HD and adding to iSquint, but when I import into iMovie, there isn't anything there. I have the same problem when I try to import clips from a movie (not video, a real movie) I have saved in iTunes. Any suggestions there?

Try this great free, open source software.
You can get it from the site or from Apple downloads.
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
    Run MPEG Streaqmclip.
    Click File > Open URL.
Copy/Paste the URL of the video into the box.
Click on File > Export to QuickTime.
    Use 'Apple Intermediate Codec'.
Convert the movie and save to a folder on your desktop.
Open iMovie and click File > Import Movies...
    Navigate to the folder.
Create a new event, name it and import.

  • Importing movie clips

For a class assignment, I'm suppose to edit a movie clip. The professor saved the movie as a .wmv, so I converted it to a .mov using Quick Time. However, iMovie won't recognize the .mov file (or .wmv file) when I try to import it. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion, but I found another solution. I used the "save for the web" option under Quick Time and that was able to fix the problem. I don't know why the "save for web" .mov version worked and the other version didn't, but I'm grateful it did.

  • Import Movie clips between iPhoto libraries.

I need to import iPhoto movie clips from one iPhoto library to another.  I was successful to share the library and import the photos but the movie clips taken with my iPhone do not show up to import.  Please help.

There is no way to share movie clips.
Either export them to the Finder and then import them to the other Library or use iPhoto Library Manager

  • Speeding up imported .mov clips

Apple has given me a great tool to use for creating tutorials, not only to share but also to burn as a pretty solid DVD.
That said I will describe what I am doing and what I would like to do.
    1) I am using SnapzPro with iMovie '08 to make tutorial videos that I am sharing from .mac,
and later aspire to make full on DVD's from.
    2) I have sucessfully imported, edited, voiced over, and shared this clips with only one minor detail.
What i wish to do is speed up some of the clips when playing back. Does anyone know how to do this? Because, it seems like apple while simplifying the app, they've taken out even more edit controls from iMovie, where I might actually have to purchase FC express to achieve what I want to do.
-One thing I tried, and failed at, was taking the movies into QT pro, and speeding up the playback time, but when imported into iMovie, it strips that setting and plays back at normal speed.
Because of the length of the capture, I want to speed up playback, and then transition to highlight points of the film, is there a way to do this in '08?

    Thanks for the tip,
I guess what i am going to try is, importing the clips into FCP 5 and see if I can speed them up and add my transitions there. FCP is one app I have to learn all over again every time I use it, but one I edit there I guess try and reintroduce the clips into imovie and see how that goes..

  • How to import movie clips from DVD?

    Hi,
A really stupid question, and possibly this has been asked before, but I am at my wits end--is there a way I can import video clips to iMovie from a DVD disc that contains video files? When I try to select 'import movies' from the file menu, it won't import the clips because the video files contained within the dvd are VOB. IFO. and BUP. formats, and the iMovie will only read MPEG or mov. Is there a way I can somehow import these clips by changing the setting somewhere in the iMovie or am I to require some other type of application to convert these files before I can successfully import them?
I'm really only trying to make a simple short clip, nothing big. The longest it will probably be is at most 5 mins. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Is there a way I can somehow import these clips by changing the setting somewhere in the iMovie or am I to require some other type of application to convert these files before I can successfully import them?
Not by changing a setting. Multiplexed MPEG-2 content is not iMovie '08 "edit" compatible. Either the content is recognized as being on a compatible camcorder and converts the content to an "edit" compatible compression format or you must manually convert the multiplexed MPEG-2 content yourself for import at the "Finder" file level.
    Any suggestions?
If your VOB files are not encrypted (i.e., on a homemade DVD), then they can be copied to your hard drive. Once on your hard drive, you can use any of several applications to perform your conversion. Cost and work flow depend on the application you use. I normally recommend a new user try something like iSquint for their initial attempt. It is free and simple to use. Simply drop the copied VOB file containing the video you want to the application work area, set the "Optimize for TV" option, and press the "Start" button. This will produce an MPEG4/AAC file that can be edited. Other applications can produce alternative compression formats for editing but are either more difficult to use or are not totally free. My preference would by MPEG Streamclip here, but it requires a $20 QT MPEG-2 Playback component and s much more difficult to use since it has many more options and capabilities. Visual Hub (iSquint's "big brother") is as simple to use, but is a "pay-ware" application. In any case, the free application should allow you to do what you want and then you can decide if you need/want to invest more in the way of cost, time, and/or effort in a better application.
I use Quicktime pro as well to export any file to a version that iMovie will work with
Unfortunately, QT Pro will not work in this case since QT Pro is not conversion compatible with multiplexed MPEG-2 formats. Even if you add the $20 QT MPEG-2 Playback component, it will only convert the video portion of the file. Use an MPEG-based, third-party application like those mentioned above or FFmpegX (donation-ware/difficult to use) or MPEG2 Works (Pay-ware that also requires the $20 MPEG-2 component, etc.

  • Import movie clips?

Is it possible to bring movie clips from Flash into Catalyst.
I build interactives of gadets (ie. iPhone or Microsoft Surface) and would like to use Catalyst, but need to be able to play animations (of the internal working components) within the page states. Any workaorund to this?

  • Clips goes over red color after importing movies clips

Clips goes overdosed by red color after importing movies clips

I guess it doesn't look like that in the QuickTime player. 640x480? That's a computer form of NTSC yet you're using a PAL frame rate. That's very weird. What's the codec?
You might also check the color space your display is set to, though the clip below it in the browser doesn't show the problem.

Yes, unless they are already in the m4v format. Handbrake does a great job.

  • Imported movies (clips) from camcorder only half length

I I import my clips say 2 min that I see from my camcorder using the large format and they look like they are downloading properly and image stabilize but when they appear in my events window they are exactly half the length does anyone know how to fix this. It does not matter how long the clips are they are always cut in half.

I tried this checkbox option in the Log & Capture window, I checked the box and selected “Limit Capture Now To: 20 Minutes”. Unfortunately, it did not work. First the capture did not stop at 20 minute, I had to press ‘Escape’ key to stop it, and second the maximum I could capture was about 1 minute and 35 seconds. In other capture attempts I noticed that when I press the ‘Escape’ key to stop capture, only the last few seconds are captured.
Are there other things that I should do to solving this problem? Could this be a memory problem? I have 1 GB SDRAM. However, when I am capturing video through an Analog/Digital converter device, I don’t have this problem. This problem happens only when I am capturing directly from DV Camcorder
