Importing movies: when dragging displays link icon

I am unable to import a few movies into itunes. When I attempt to drap them a link icon appears.

Free software that can "rip" your home made DVD's. Save these folders on your external drive and view them using the DVD Player application.
You can also use the Disk Utility app to make a "New Disk Image from Folder". At creation you can also select "DVD/CD master" under the Image Format option. This will allow you to duplicate the files onto a new DVD.
To play these .dmg files you first "mount" the DVD (double click) and then use the DVD Player (Open File) to view them.
These MPEG-2 file formats will not open in iMovie or iDVD without first converting them using third party software. I use:

Cannot see items move when dragged

All of a sudden I cannot see objects move when dragged in Photoshop CC Mac. They wind up in a new position when dragged but I just can't see them move as I drag them. This would seem to be a preference but do not know where to change it.

Conditionally display link icon

Is there any way I could display an icon in the report based on the record value.
Each user when they login, they will have location signed to them.
I would like to allow users to edit record (show edit icon) based on the default location.
so if record location_id is = :F130_location_id I would like to show the link icon and if location is different hide it.

The easy way (and the only way in interactive reports) to do this is to violate the separation of concerns and generate the link conditionally in the query:

How to make JPanel not to move when dragged using mouse

Can anyone tell me what method has to be called so that the JPanel doesn't move when someone tries to do by dragging the panel using a mouse.

There is no built in support for dragging a panel with the mouse, so you must have custom code.
So as the question is stated we aren't able to help you.
If you need further help then you need to create a [url http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html]Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.

Page moves when dragging anything in InDesign

Why does my InDesign page move when I am dragging text blocks or objects -- very frustrating when trying to position objects.

Not enough information. Waht do you mean the by the page moves? How are you selecting the object to move? Are you possibly using the Page tool instead of the Selection tool?

Set default import format when drag and drop sound file into multitrack view?

I've looked around the preference panels but cannot find where to set the import settings for dragging and dropping sound files into multitrack view. Some of our computers have correct settings and others do not. Thanks for your help!

I should have been more specific, sorry... I mean bit depth and bit rate... On some machines this defaults correctly and on other machines it is wrong. Not sure how to set these to downconvert properly by default. Unless it automatically takes the format of the source file, in which case it's just been luck.

After effects does not import video when I direct link from premiere pro. Why not? how do i fix this?

I wanted to add some motion tracked text elements into a clip of a interview in my premiere pro cc timeline. I left clicked on the clips that i wanted to "replace with after effects composition".. so i clicked it to and it opens a new comp in after effects.. Only there is no video opened in the comp.. Theres nothing there. I cant figure out why it doesnt bring the video in? Its not in my project panel in ae.. and ive tried direct link by left clicking the clip and going through the menu.. Tried closing AE and then doing direct link. Tried opening AE first and then doing it.. Not working no matter how i try it. Whats the fix?
Im using all CC products. Premiere is up to date, after effects is not. I will be updating it to see if that fixes the problem. As soon as I do. I will post a comment as to whether it fixed it or not. In the meantime i could use some help!

When I drag and drop an icon from the address bar to the desktop is does creat the shortcut but will not display the website icon, only the firefox icon, how can I display website icons?

When I drag and drop a website icon from the Forefox address bar to the desk top, the short cut is created but the icon that appears is the firefox Icon. I want to disply the icon from the website that the short cut refers to. I have checked all I can think of in my computer to no avail.

You have to assign the favicon yourself to the desktop shortcut (right-click the shortcut: Properties) after you have dragged the link to the desktop.
You can usually find the favicon in Tools >Page Info > Media and save the icon there.
Otherwise use the main domain of the website and add favicon.ico (e.g. mozilla.com/favicon.ico ) to display the favicon in a tab and save that image to a folder.

Hi - I'm having the same problem with freeing up space on the HD. If I can't free space if I'm using any part of the clip, how can I split up the clips so that I can discard the part I won't use? This is crazy! I have only 4 GB of free space left!
Also, I've tried to transfer the project file to my external HD but I keep getting an error saying I can't transfer it. I've been told this is because I don't have enough space on the HD for the transfer. I tried a similar transfer with another computer with plenty of HD space but the same error occurred. Is there a way to break up the project file into small pieces for the transfer (I'm thinking the whole movie file is just too big)?

Folders on Desktop move when file dragged to them

With Firefox 3 we now see an annoying behaviour in the Finder (MacOS 10.4.11.) When the Desktop has "Keep arranged by..." turned off (necessary due to the Finder's slow refresh in MacOSX), if we drag an image from Firefox onto the closed folder the folder moves. In some instances it moves to the center of the screen (so it's then hidden behind the browser window) and in others it moves to the location where it was created. This happens with images (gif, png, jpg...) but not with dragged text or links.
We deleted all our .DS_Store files and Finder prefs/plists but folders still move when an image is dragged to them. We see this on both our two MacBook Pros, and even with a newly created account.
A workaround is to use "Save Image As..." instead of dragging but ten+ years of habit and muscle memory make this undoable.
Has anyone else seen this and can anyone suggest a solution?

Not a solution but possible prevention:
Performance tip: Keep the Desktop clutter-free (empty, if possible)
Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
Unfortunately - aside from the effect of disarray it creates - keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks. Each of your icons on your desktop is stored as a window in the window server, not as an alias. The more you have stored, the more strain it puts on the window server. Check your desktop for unnecessary icons and clear them out.
Keeping as few items as possible on the Desktop can prove a surprisingly effective performance boon. Even creating a single folder on your Desktop and placing all current and future clutter inside, then logging out and back in can provide an immediately noticeable speed boost, particularly for the Finder.
And it is why Apple invented 'Stacks' for Leopard.

In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it.

Get 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency?

I get the 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency? I'm trying to use mattes with an alpha channel but I cannot import them. I have had this same issue since cs6, now I have it with cc 2014? Any clues would be most appreciated.
I have uninstalled the DVCPro Codec, but it didn't help.
I have tried converting the .mov file (which is now automatic in Yosemite) and this creates a ProRes4444 Codec, Again no luck with import.
I've seen this issue on the web, but never a solution? Anyone?

I tried iPhoto Library Manager but it could not solve my problem. Opening the iPhoto library I can see that the reference to the pictures are pointing to my old location not to the new one. I considered running a script that would change all pointers since this is basically what is needed (in my case from /Volumes/RAID1/Fotos/XXX to /Volumes/Fotos/XXX). Instead I inserted a soft unix link to make to connection but that did not work. It is referring to the airport disk by the airport name rather than the mounted disk name. Very strange indeed. The problem is maybe not in iPhoto but in OSX? Anyway, maybe the only way out is to take some hours and manually run through all linked photos... cumbersome and annoying!

No display when dragging regions

normally, when dragging audio and midi regions in the arrangement window, a transparent copy of the selected region appears right when you left click and hold, and this copy follows the mouse icon so you can see exactly where you're moving it before you let go of the left click.
my copy isnt showing up at all, so when click, hold, and drag, i don't see anything except the mouse icon. so i don't know where i'm dragging the regions to until after it's there. i must have accidentally turned the display off somehow. how do i fix this?

Are you getting the startup chime *bong* and / or do you feel air coming out the ventalation port so you know it is powering on at all?
Reset the SMC and then test: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Remove any RAM that you may have installed after you bought the computer and put in the original memory (if applicable) and test.
Try a different wall outlet for the computer, one that is currently working fine for another electrical device.
If the issue persists after you follow the above steps, you may wish to make an appointment with a Mac Genius at an Apple store, contact AppleCare via phone, or contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance.

Select it, hit command-i (or choose File -> Get Info), select the icon in the info window and paste something else there.
