Importing mp4 into Flash 8, converting to FLV
I just finished taking a Flash Video class where I understood
I could import an MP4 and convert in to an FLV using encoding tools
that come with Flash Professional 8. However, I opened a new FLA
just now and tried to import an MP4 (File -> Import Video),
Flash would not recognize the sample MP4 I have sitting on my
desktop.
I downloaded a demo copy of On2 FlixPro and it did recognize
the MP4, is converting it to an FLV as I write this.
Did I misunderstand about importing MP4s into Flash 8
Professional? Is it in fact not possible. Or might there have been
something I didn't do or didn't do correctly before importing? If
so, what might it have been?
Thanks in advance.

The MP4 file extension does not appear in the filetype
filter of the
Import dialog, but if you select "All Files (*.*)," that
should work. I've
imported MP4s (they're MPGs, after all), but the extension
doesn't appear
under the "All Video Formats" choice. (I'm hoping this is
what you mean by
"would not recognize," anyway.)

How to import MP4 into iMovie 09
How to import MP4 into iMovie09
You will need to convert it to something that iMovie can edit.
1) The first step is to see if QuickTime can play it. See if you can open it in QuickTime Player.
If you can, Proceed to Step 3
2) If QuickTime cannot play it, I would try to download a set of open source codecs called Perian. They will handle many odd codecs like this. Go to Perian.ORG and download them. Then go back to step 1.
Note: If Perian does not work for you, come back for some more ideas.
3) Once QuickTime can play it, you need to convert it to something iMovie can edit. If you have QuickTime Pro, use that. If you would prefer a free alternative, download MPEG STREAMCLIP from Squared 5. Drag the 3G2 clip into MPEG Streamclip and then FILE/Export to QuickTIme...
Choose Apple Intermediate Codec (for highest quality) or choose h.264 (for smallest file size) and save it in a place you can find it.
4) Now open iMovie, and use FILE/IMPORT...MOVIES to import the converted file into iMovie for editing. -
Does anyone have any knowledge of importing movies into
flash?
I have a movie streaming in my flash file but when some
people open the exe they only see black when the movie should be
showing. And some others can see the movie. Any thoughts?you can import them as an image sequence, then create a movie
clip out of it. File-->import-->import to stage.. Then select
all the images, and it something should pop up asking if you are
trying to create an image sequence, select yes. -
I am importing images into Flash only to discover that the images (1280 x 720) are not centered on the stage. Most of the time the images are off centre by a few pixel widths or in some cases by an inch or more. I can't get them to centre unless I clear the stage and import a few times.
Is there a way to import and have the images framed perfectly within the stage.
I'm currently using Flash CS5.5
Thank you.You can also click the two blue boxes icon under the Timeline and then drag select the whole timeline and that will let you select all your frames at once. then just position them all where you want them at the same time. I attached a screen cap of the area I'm talking about. It's right after the two white boxes.

Importing video into Flash MX2004
Hi
I've not worked with video before, but now have a requirement
to use a video clip in a Flash movie. I have found a royalty free
movie clip which is perfect, but would need to work over the top of
this file to add some bits to the movie.
My question is this, if I purchase the movie and import it
into Flash, does it come in frame-for-frame on the timeline so that
I can add layers and work over the top of it? I know that video
tends to create large files - once it's in Flash and published as a
swf file, presumably it should be more manageable?
Many thanks for any help.HamptonCaught wrote:

It won't be frame by frame, it will be its own format
stretching across timeline
to covert the length of its frames.

I'm having trouble with importing them into iTunes and converting them at the same time. when i hold down option over the files i can't find where its supposed to say create new version. is this if you're in iTunes?
You can't do it in one step. Add to iTunes first, Once the tracks are in iTunes you may convert to a different format.

Couldnt Import .MP3 into Flash CC
I am exporting a .MP3 from Adobe Audition CC
Then Importing it into Flash CC
I receive the error message Couldnt Import .MP3
This procedure has worked in the past but now does not work. If you know what may be the issue please let me know
ThanksThere was an older issue with Flash CS6 where any MP3 with a bitrate over 192kbit could not be imported unless both QuickTime and iTunes were installed to the latest version (on Windows). Do you also have iTunes installed and updated?
I don't think anyone got to the bottom of why iTunes was needed but many people couldn't import MP3 with the same error until they did. You might want to try that.
The only MP3 workaround was to import directly to library instead of stage and play it in a timeline layer, but some could only hear it during published playback (no preview).
Of course an alternate workaround is to simply use a different format. There's still something going on with MP3, which is a bit surprising considering how common it is. I would recommend trying WAV or AIFF as a workaround for now if iTunes/QuickTime updating doesn't fix it. -
Can't import MP4s into iMove '08
I recorded some videos on my Nokia N95 and wanted to put them into iMovie and export them onto YouTube after some editing, but iMovie won't import my MP4s! Are there any free and painless ways to convert MP4s into more compatible formats for use with iMovie '08?
Any help greatly appreciated!Oh sorry!! It turns out that when you import movies into iPhoto '08, when you export them they come out as images, instead of movies; how strange!! :S You can view movies in iPhoto but you can't get them out of there, thanks for your help anyways , you can drag and drop movies from iPhoto into iMovie so I'm all sorted now.

Cannot import .mpg into Flash 8 Pro
I've been trying to import a video into Flash but only the
audio works. I've searched the web and tried updating the ActiveX
and QuickTime as suggested on the Adobe site but no luck.
Thanks for any suggestions.
westlight
www.westlight.netI'm using Flash 8 Pro but not sure about the codec as I'm
very new at video capture and edit. I did manage to import another
.mpg file from a different source just as a test to see if it was
just my file giving me grief. Apparently it is.
The original capture is with the Canon HG10 which is high
def. Here are some of the details I know.
Format:NTSCHDMV (AVCHD)
Video type H.264 , Switched to Frame Based during edit for
online use.
24 bit, 1440x1080, 16:9
I am editing the clips on ULead VideoStudio Plus converting
the file from their .vsp project format to high def .mpg2
(SVCD/DVD)
I'm not sure this is the information you need but hope that
it helps. -
Help!
I am experiencing problems when i bring MPEG movies into
Flash 8. The video plays but the sound seems to be missing/ no
sound. Has anyone come across this problem before and how do I
overcome this??? Should I maybe look at imporing a different type
of video (AVI)?? File size isn't an issue here as this will be
played via CDROM.
Many thanks(I think...) This is a muxing issue with the mpeg file. I am
not an expert but I believe mpeg 1 files are compressed where there
is only one track for both audio and video. When this is converted
to FLV the audio track gets dropped. If you re-encode the file to
Mpeg2 then there is a layer for audio and one for video. These file
encode to FLV with no audio problems.
If someone can explain it better I am all ears.
Also, you can re-encode the Mpeg file using VideoRedo
software. -
Importing PDF into flash CS3 - Importer du PDF dans CS3
Hello.
Originally, i posted my question in french. So i will try to
convert in english, but my english is poor.
You can see the original in french, in back of this topic, in
bolded text
So, my problem : i can import some PDF files with Flash MX
2004, but i cannot do the same with Flash CS3.
When i import (import in the scene - Command+R) the PDF file
in Flash MX 2004, i got the vectorial logo correctly and the text
as a text.
But when i import (import in the scene - Command+R) the same
PDF file into Flash CS3, there is a problem. At start, i cannot
click the PDF file, i have to choose "all the files" to can click
it. Then i click it and there is a pop window appearing, talking
about "importing video". But my PDF is not Video… And at the
end, the result is a poor jpg image of my PDF, not the vectorials
that i would like.
So why the old Flash MX can do it easily, and the recent CS3
can not ?
What i have to do ?
Bonjour,
vidéo" me demandant de sélectionner si ladite vidéo
Il me demande
Os court !Is that really the end, doc ?

Importing Images into Flash CS4 from Photoshop 7
Hello,
I've created an image in flash, basically the image is a ring which has then been divided into 3 equal segments, each segment exists on its own seperate layer with and has a transparent background. I want to make ach of these segments into a button on flash, so I've imported them across and converted them into buttons, however the problem I have is that when it gets imported into flash, it creates a box around each segment which is what flash sees as the full button, this means when you roll over a blank piece of the segment flash recognises it as rolling over the button. Is this just an inherent problem from importing from photoshop into flash or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
SeanCheck the settings:
Edit/Preferences.../PSD File importer...
And then load the *.psd file without the background.
And certainly there is no change in flash... -
Importing Video into Flash Project ?
Hi, I want to ask you about how can I import video into my Flash Project and make it possible to view ?
I tried to choose embed FLV but the sound quality is quite shity and the video quality too. Furthermore, It expands the timeline which is too long because my video is quite long too. It said that it can be at least 16000 Frames to run.
Now I choose Import -> Import Video -> Load External ..... and then I put it on one scene. The thing is that when I test it, it looks like I have to expands the timeline too so that I can play the videos fully. And It will slow down the computer so much when I want to export. Is there any way I can play the video only by just creating one keyframe ?
Please help me.i choose Load -> External and it gives me some FLVPlayback in the library too ... But how I can make it relate to the previous scene and it can play the whole video and then back to the first scene...
First scene is where people can choose some option that I made of ...
A is where I link to the scene 3 of my project
B comes to Scene 4
C comes to Scene 5
What I'm stucking right now is how can I made the C choice for people to choose and they can see the videos. I tried to drag the FLVPlayback to the scene 6 and it shows some result. But I think if I want to watch the whole video I need to expand the timeline as much as possible and I really don't want that. Is there any actionscript code or some tips that I can make it possible? Sorry because I'm a newbie so I don't understand your words. Can you explain it more ? -
Need to import .swf into Flash 8 project
I'm working on a project that requires me to use an already
made .swf file in it. I'm creating the whole project (which is a
presentation) strictly in Flash 8. This project requires a user to
be able to navigate through various menus and categories to see
what's in them. Most of the categories have a slide-show of images
that are accompanied by a voice over sound track that explains to
them what they're watching; however, for other categories I already
have a previously created .swf file that I need to import into
Flash 8. The issue that I've noticed when I just import the .swf
file into Flash is that the file plays at about 100x the original
speed. I think that it is because Flash looks at this file as one
frame and tried to play everything all at once. I also looked into
the possibility of trying to the loadMovie() function, but that is
not that convenient for me because this requires me to decompile
the .swf file into .fla and edit it so that a user has a way of
coming back to the main menu of the presentation from that movie,
unless there is a function parameter of loadMovie() similar to
HTML's "_blank" where a new window opens so that the user can close
this window without having to worry about restarting the
presentation. I hope that what I'm doing is clear, and I'm very
much open to any suggestions about what I should do about it or any
other ways of doing what I'm trying to achieve, which is to be able
to play already-made .swf files in my Flash project. To give more
details on these .swf files, they were originally created in Adobe
Captivate and exported into .swf. They play perfectly when you play
them, but it's just that there is an issue when I try to play them
from my Flash project. Thank you in advance for your help.Hi Braulio
a good tutorial site can be found at
http://www.kirupa.com
and also, look in your Flash Docs, for loadClip() and
loavMovie() methods. They should get you started on some ideas to
import external content. -
Hi all,
Wasn't sure which thread to put this in, apologies if its in
the wrong one. Anyway, I was just wondering if it possible to
import QTVR movies into Flash like you can with regular Quicktime
movies, what QTVR has is controls that allow the user to 360 a
movie, just wondering if it is possible to maintain the 360
controls for the movie?
Thanks
LeeThere is no capability to import or play a virtual reality
movie. That is,
if you import the movie, it will become a linear movie
consisting of the
frames used in the VR. For instance, if your VR is made up of
20 vertical
views and 20 horizontal views, it will become a series of 400
(20 X 20)
frames played in rapid succession. One would have to build a
custom player
in actionScript to make it appear as VR.
