Importing mpegs to iPod Classic

I have a bunch of family movies on my PC stored as .mpg files. Is there a way to import them to iTunes and sync them to my iPod?
Thanks!

  • Import music from iPod Classic into iTunes

I have an iPod Classic 120 GB that is still in perfect condition. I got it 5 years ago. I had imported several CD's into iTunes on my family computer and then imported them on to my iPod. I also had purchased some music from the iTunes store, but I had a lot more music that I had imported from CD's. An incident happened where a lot of my music got deleted from my iTunes account. I had over 5000 songs on my iPod from all the CD's, audio books, and purchased music I had imported into iTunes and then on to my iPod. When I plugged my iPod into my computer, iTunes recognized that there was music on my iPod that wasn't in my iTunes library. It asked if I would like to import the music that was on my iPod into my iTunes library. I said yes. Of the 5000+ songs on my iPod, only about 300 were imported back into iTunes, and then my iPod was synced. I lost the rest of my music. After this incident, I took several hours to re-import the CD's back into my iTunes library. Not too long after this, my computer crashed. Everything was wiped from my computer. We started by re-installing the drivers, Google Chrome, and I just re-downloaded iTunes. All the music that was in my iCloud has been backed up and added to my new library. This is only about 31 songs. I'm afraid to plug in my iPod again because it still has all the music on it that took so long to re-import. But now I can't add another CD on to my iPod without the fear of losing everything again. Does anyone know how I can make sure that ALL the music will be re-imported into my iTunes library again when I plug in my iPod? I don't want to go through this ordeal again if I don't have to.

  • Importing Music into iPod Classic

My father died in November.  I have his iPod.  How can I transfer his music library to
my iTunes music library?  iTunes 11.0 update is really confusing .

but then nothing shows up on the ipod. Indeed, no song has then been downloaded. My daughter has her own ipod and is able to to this on the same computer.
    hi yonak!
is itunes telling you that the update is complete when you synch? if so, check up on this issue:

  • Importing playlists to a ipod classic using itunes 12

created a playlist but cannot import to my ipod classic. Any ideas?
    Thanks

If you set up automatic syncing, you can select that playlist as one of the items being synced.  Select iPod in iTunes 12 (click device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, click Music.  To the right, check the box for Sync Music, near the top.  NOTE:  If that box was not already checked, you have been using the Manually manage music [and videos] setting.  Checking that box enables automatic syncing instead.  The iPod's current content will be replaced by the content you select on the iPod's Music settings screen.  Any songs on the iPod that are not in your computer's iTunes library will be lost.  If this is a problem, don't do it this way; see below for the manual method.
Below the Sync Music setting, select the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, under Playlists, find and select (checkmark) that playlist you created for the iPod.  You can also select other items on those lists.  When you click Apply, the songs in your selection syncs to the iPod (replacing its current content).  Going forward, to update that playlist on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time it is connected (or you click Sync if already connected), iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes.
If you don't want set up automatic syncing, this is how to add a playlist to the iPod using the manual method (the iPod is set to Manually manage music [and videos]).  You don't actually add an existing playlist to the iPod.  You create the playlist on the iPod manually, and add songs to it manually.  In iTunes 12, click the Music button on the horizontal bar (near left side).  Near middle of that bar, click Playlists.  The sidebar appears along left side of window, showing your music library, devices, and playlists.  If your iPod is connected, it appears under Devices.  Click the small triangle to left of iPod's name, to drop down its content list (indented below iPod).  Click Music on content list.  At bottom of sidebar, click the plus sign, and select New Playlist.  A new playlist appears on the iPod (on the content list), which you can name.
If you already have a playlist with songs you want on the iPod in your iTunes library, select it in the sidebar under Playlists.  Select any song on the list, and do a Select All (from the Edit menu or Cmd-A on keyboard).  Drag selection to iPod in sidebar to the playlist, and drop it there.  Change the order of songs, as desired.  The songs will be on the iPod "generally," but you can also play them using the playlist.  Going forward, manually update that playlist on the iPod, as desired.

  • HT1329 I have imported music files on my iPod Classic which I don't have on my old PC as it had less capacity than the iPod. I now have a new PC and want to transfer the music from the iPod to my new PC so that I have back ups. How can I do this?

How do I move music imported from my old CD collection onto my iPod, which I did not retain on my old PC as there was not enough memory. I no longer have all the CDs so cannot import them to my new PC, so want to copy them directly off my iPod Classic to my new PC.
    How do I do that?
    Thanks

You cannot do it (transfer song files from iPod to computer) using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download previous purchases using the iTunes Store Purchased screen).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can be used to transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer's hard drive, drag them (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window to add them to your new computer's iTunes library.

  • We have a new iPod  Classic and would like some help in choosing "Import Settings" (under Peferences) when loading the iPod from the Mac.  We want to be sure that we can maintain a constant sound level.  Used with Bose sound dock. OS 10.6.8 iTunes 10.6.1.

Using an iPod Classic on a Bose sound dock....when loading the iPod from the Mac, what  "Import Settings" (under iTune "Preferences"),  should be used to maintain a constant sound level when playing music?  Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.1.
There are many Import Settings available and it is somewhat confusing.  Any suggestions?

Go to iTunes>Preferences>Playback. Tick "Sound Check."

  • HT203242 I use ipod classic 120G. When I launch itunes I first of all see a message "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cds & DVDs are missing." I cannot sync my ipod. Any ideas?

I use an ipod classic 120G. When I try to launch itunes I first of all see a box stating "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes"   This I have done. obviously I cannot burn CDs but worse still is my ipod is not being recognised by itunes and will not sync. I have not installed any new burning softeware. Any suggestions please?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Is there a way to import your entire music library from an iPod classic into iTunes on  my PC?  PC was wiped out and my iPod is the only complete library copy I have.

My PC hard drive was wiped out and I am rebuilding my Windows 7 system.  The only complete library I have of my music is located on my iPod classic.  Is there a way to import the library from my iPod into a  new iTunes library on my PC?  I was told if I connect my iPod to the PC, ITunes will try to sync with the iPod and wipe out the library on the iPod.

Very frustrating! Any suggestions?

  • Mpeg - 4 videos won't play on ipod classic

I have several movies I've created in mpeg-4 and they won't copy to my iPod classic because it says the format isn't supported. Guess I don't understand since they are supposed to play on an iPod classic.

try to make sure that the bitrate and resolution is suitable for playing on iPod.
the general limits which the iPod carry.
    H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
Try to lower the bitrate and resolution, maybe this will help.
if this still doesn't work, try another video to iPod video converter instead.

  • If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks, any ideas please?

If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks and then sync them, any ideas please?

If you import the audiobook as an audiobook to your iTunes Library, it will be listed in the Books section of your Library. You may need to turn on Books in order to see them. If you cannot see the File/Edit... etc. menu, use CTRL B on your keyboard to make that menu bar appear. Then go to Edit/Preferences>Books and put a tick in the box.
But, if the imported audiobook shows up in the Music section of your iTunes Library, highglight the files (in iTunes) and select File/Get Info/Options/Media Kind>Audiobook. These files will now transfer to the Books section of iTunes.
Once on an iPod Classic, look under the Audiobooks menu. Again, you may need to change the settings in the Settings menus, in order to have the Audiobooks option shown on the Main Menu and/or the Music Menu.

  • I recently imported 2 cd's into my library, and then tried to import them onto my Ipod classic. would not do it. What Gives?

I recently imported 2 cd's to my Itunes library, and then tried to download them to my Ipod classic, and they would not download. In my library, but not on my Ipod. What gives?

This topic is also discussed in an conveniently archived discussion.  My opinion is anything downloaded and not purchased in the Apple iTunes store is not truly compatible with iTunes and/or iPod Classic - all of the potential space - unusable.  I am not holding my breath for an answer nor give a **** if they do respond.  No more Apple products for me, now I need to figure out how to transfer everything purchased onto another medium.

  • How do I make iPod Classic import (sync) photos via iTunes so that the photos stay in order by filename and can then be viewed as a slideshow in the correct order?

I carefully number my iPod bound photos so that they are in a desired order by filename.  When I sync the photos to my iPod Classic they are not in the same order.  A typical filename would be:  001 001 IMG-3489.jpg followed by 001 002 IMG-3478.jpg.  Windows uses the first seven characters to order the files and does not care what follows the first seven so long as the first seven are not duplicated within the folder.  My iPod ignores that convention.  HELP! PLEASE!  I want to view my slideshows in the correct order.
    Thanks

Does both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it  does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
    Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
    Sync your library.
    Good Luck!

  • Help with import/drag one photo into iPod Classic 160

Hello - I could swear I've done this before --- I've got my iPod Classic 160 Gb synced to iTunes, and JUST want to drag one little photo onto my iPod (in the left column), but I get an alert & it won't let me do this. Can't you just add a photo by dragging it onto the iPod in the left column? I don't want to totally sync my iPod as I get a warning saying that if I sync for photos, it will replace ALL photos and music with what is in my iTunes library, and I don't have the entire contents of my iPod currently in my iTunes library. Can't I do a simple thing like add one photo? (It's a .jpg.) Thank you very much for any help.
    Nick

Thanks again for your suggestion about taking the charger back to the store. We tried it there and the charger itself worked fine (shocker!) so we tried with a different Apple charger and my iPod. And it finally worked! The guy at the store tried to explain to me WHY the charger hadn't worked with my iPod (something about ampere or something) but when I told him that it in fact worked with my old iPod from 2007 he had to agree that it was very strange.
Anyway, they didn't have in stock that new slick Apple charger (small and thin compared to the big squared one I got first) so I ended up buying a Belkin charger that works great. So all's well that ends well!

  • How can I import my iTunes library from my iPod classic to my new computer?

You will need a third-party utility such as Phone to Mac
