Importing music from itunes to ipod

After I've transfered music from a CD or purchase music from itunes music store when I plug my ipod into the computer to copy the songs nothing happens, it just shows on the ipod 'do not disconnect.' but its been like that for over an hour and I only transferd 1 cd & purchase some tracks from itunes music store. Anybody any idea what I am doing wrong ?

Tracey, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
• Does the iPod show up in the iTunes Source list (left side of iTunes, below the Music Store entry)?
• Look at "iPod Options" (right-click the iPod in the Source list), what synch method are you using - auto, playlist, or manual?

Sabreena, this is usually an indication that your iPod software is too old. The following link will give you instructions on how to update using the iPod updater. Post back if you have any questions.

  • Transferring imported music from iTunes to iPod

I recently imported a bunch of songs onto my iTunes, but when I plug in my iPod to the usb port to automatically update it I receive an "unknown error message -69." Once that prompt appears it says its safe to eject my iPod, but none of the songs I imported to iTunes transfer to my iPod. What do I do?

Instead of syncing your iPod automatically, change your settings to manually manage music on your iPod. Then just drag and drop the new music onto your iPod. That way you won't erase all of the music that is currently on your iPod.

How do I import music from itunes to my iphone4?

Connect iPod or iPhone to your computer and open iTunes.
Select your iPod or iPhone in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window.
In the main iTunes browser window, select Music.
Select the option to Sync Music.
You have the option to sync all songs and playlists or selected playlists. Your iPod will need to have enough free space to sync the content that you have selected from your library. Tip: You can use the capacity bar at the bottom of the iPod settings window to determine how much free space is available. The size of a playlist can be determined by selecting it and looking at the bottom of the iTunes window.
You can also automatically sync podcasts to your device. Select the Podcasts and choose to sync all podcasts or selected ones. You can also determine which episodes are synced based on if they are recent, new, or unplayed.
Click Apply and iTunes will begin syncing the audio content you've selected to your iPod or iPhone. The iTunes LCD will display the sync progress and notify you when the sync is complete.
To disconnect your iPod or iPhone, select it under Devices and click the eject icon next to it.

  • Import  music from itune to iphone to 3g

Précision. i have already a iphone 3gs on this itune library. And it works well.

Connect the iPhone to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs ot tabs, one of which is Music - if you select that tab you can select which of your music to sync to the phon'e Music app

  • Transferring music from itunes to ipod

Trouble transfering music from itunes to my iopd. have updated ipod but still having trouble.

OK so first thing is, is the iPod set for manual or auto updating? If you are using iTunes 7, click on the iPod icon in iTunes and check the settings. For earlier versions go to iTunes preferences and pick the iPod. Typically you have three choices, Auto Updating, Auto Updating of selected playlists only, and finally Manual updating.
And to clear up your confusion, yes, you can always import your own CDs and put that music on your iPod without restriction.

  • Can't get new music from iTunes to iPod

I currently have an iPod Touch.  Have downloaded the most current iTunes.  Have the latest software update for the iPod.  For numbers sake, I have 75 songs on the computer iTunes, 300 on the iPod.  Want to get music and playlists from iTunes onto iPod.  Have repeatedly tried syncing to no avail.  I don't want to erase everything off the iPod in order to do so.  Likewise, how the heck do I get the extra 225 songs from the iPod onto my iTunes??  All of the trouble started when I 1) added an iPhone into the mix and had multiple devices involved and 2) did the most recent iTunes update (which I HATE!!!!)
So how the heck do I do this??  I do not have a 7 year old in the household to tell me how to do this.

Transferring tracks from an iPod back to iTunes has been covered here a number of times already, but again:
First, you need to prevent automatic synchronzation with a blank copy of iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
Then if you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:
    MacMuse: Computer crashed
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to download music from itunes onto ipod

I recently downloaded some music from itunes and naturally went to transfer the music to my ipod. So i dragged the selected songs onto my ipod icon, it started to copy then it freezes and causes itunes to crash, inturn making me have to reset my computer as i can't close itunes down, even when using task manager.
-I tried this a couple of times
-I tried to download tunes on some elses itunes
-I updated to the latest version of tunes
-I checked the software on my ipod
-I resetted my ipod using the middle and menu button
And still all these alternatives brought the same result. Would anybody please be kind enough to advise me on this as im at a witts end and would just like to know if i have to take it to get serviced or is there something else that i can do or am not doing?
    Thanks

I've got no fix to give you, but I'm having the same problem, so you're not alone.

  • Cannot Burn or import music from itunes

every time i open itunes i get a pop up that tells me that i must reinstall itunes before i will be able to burn or import music.
i have gone round and round with tech support trying to figure out why i can no longer burn discs. i was told that my internal cd/dvd drive must have gone bad and that i needed a new one. i went and purchased one, an external drive, and STILL CANNOT BURN OR IMPORT MUSIC! I can copy CDs and DVD from my internal drive so i now know that my drive is not bad and that the issue is not with my computer it is with itunes. my question is how do i get itunes to recognize that i do infact have a working drive? and if i cannot burn music from itunes how can i get it somewhere else on my computer so i can?
i am SO fed up with itunes and am about to just give up on it completely!
    please help! ANYONE!!!

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.)

  • Filtering music from iTunes to iPod

I downloaded a bit of Christmas music from iTunes to my 'Pod over the holidays.
I no longer want these tunes on my pod, but still want to keep them in iTunes.
Is there a way that I can prevent them from loading onto my iPod when I sync with my mac?

Depends on how you sync your iPod.
Do you sync all songs or specific playlists?
If you sync all songs, then maybe the easiest way is to uncheck you Xmas songs and set the iPod to update only checked songs.

  • Import music from itunes

How do I import my own music  from itunes into Premier Elements so that it will actually play?

All iTunes purchases since April 2009 have been iTunes Plus format and are unprotected (the filename will have the extension .m4a). Older tunes MAY be protected (filename extension.m4p). Steves suggestion will work for both types, but for unprotected files you can use iTunes itself to convert them (use .wav for best compatibility) - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1550.
[EDIT] And any music you put into iTunes from your own CD collection will be unprotected and can be converted to .wav by iTunes as per the linked article.
