Importing music in Itunes for MAC

I have a IMAC, i have installed the latest version from Itunes.
My music is copied to the folder User:Music
When creating a Itunes Library i put it to Music: and called it Itunes MAC.
Then I do Import Library, Itunes then import the songs into Itunes.
When finished Itunes then copies the files into the Itunes MAC\Itunes Music
This then creates a double size and the songs are double in Itunes.
What is it that i am doing wrong?.
Please advise

  • Locating music in itunes for Mac

I cannot locate a number of songs purchased through iTunes in my iTunes library. They were purchased several years ago and despite my best efforts to manually search my entire hard drive, I cannot find them. I also noticed that the Purchased list in my iTunes library only goes back about a year or two and the missing songs were purchased earlier. I am positive these songs exist somewhere as I was previously able to play them and I paid for them through Apple. I have looked at my default setting for where the iTunes downloads are supposed to go and it hasn't changed. Does anyone has some ideas about how might more effectively look for them? Thanks in advance. John

Take a look here for some tips on how to look for the tracks. If you still can't find them, you'll need to restore them from your backups (I hope you made backups, as iTunes itself advises).
    Good luck.

  • Transferring iTunes for Mac to iTunes for Windows

My son currently uses iTunes for Mac to store all his music he for his iPhone. His iTunes is on a PowerBook G4, running OS X 10.4.11, which he now finds can not be upgraded to Leopard or Snow Leopard which would give him the latest version of iTunes. He is now thinking of purchasing a PC laptop that will run the latest version of iTunes. BUT, all of his music is on his Mac PowerBook. Is there way to transfer his music on iTunes for Mac to iTunes for Windows?

    Chris,
Thank you for responding. I only went by what my son said. I will check out Leopard's system requirements. Do you know if music stored on iTunes for Mac can be transferred to iTunes for Windows. If so,what I do to transfer the music?

    Hi, Dave.
If you're using the BlackBerry browser, you can't configure anything to bypass the RIM servers.  I believe you may do so by using the Opera browser, but I haven't tried it myself so cannot comment with authority.
I hope that clears up the issue for you.

  • Cannot change Media Kind when importing audiobooks and TV shows into iTunes for Mac

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro - my first Apple computer.
I have used PC's with iTunes for many years, and have a large collection of music (from CD's), audiobooks (from CD's), TV shows (from multiple sources), and movies (from DVD's) on external an hard drives.  I have never had trouble moving these to/from my various iDevices: an iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad 2.
I plugged the external drive into my new MacBook Pro, and added the folders to my iTunes for Mac library.  As always happened in the past, the video files were always characterized as "Movies", and audio files as "Music".  However, in iTunes for Mac, i do not seem to have the ability to change the Media Kind .... I can see the field, but it is "greyed out" and i am not allowed to change it.
Can anyone help advise me on how I can change these Media Kinds?  Thank you!

No one answered my question, but I solved it, and thought I'd explain how if others have the same problem .... I had the wrong kind of hard drive for a Mac.  It was formatted NTFS, which the Mac could read but not write to .... therefore, iTunes wouldn't let me change anything.  I needed a better external hard drive anyways, so I got a new one, formatted it to the Mac format, and then just dragged everything to the new hard drive.  After that, iTunes worked perfect.

  • Wma conversion to use iTunes for Mac

Does anyone know of freeware I can download to comletely convert my wma music files to mp3 so that I can use it in iTunes for mac? ( Switched from PC to mac, now i'm just struggling with my wma files i transferred from my PC - tried the new Windows Media Player 11 on my PC, but it only converts if the Device it syncs with requires it, you cannot set it to convert all files to mp3...) So far i'm really really impressed with the Mac, but the fact that i have to now convert all my music files that are still wma to mp3 to use in iTunes is QUITE annoying...

Macs don't have the WMA codec used to read these files.
    EasyWMA is only $10.
Or just use your Windows machine.
Open iTunes, set your iTunes prefs -> Advanced -> Importing to what you want and drag your WMA files to iTunes.
It will convert them (using the WMA codec in Windows) and put them in the iTunes folder.
Copy these files to the new computer and Add to iTunes.

Possibly. Media Go supports a variety of music formats, some of which can be imported in to iTunes and then synced on to an iPhone, however some of its formats cannot be imported in to iTunes.
See http://mediago.sony.com/enu/supported-file-formats/ for a list of formats supported by Media Go. iTunes for Windows supports MP3, AAC, WAV, and can import and convert WMA files as well. However iTunes does not support ATRAC, or FLAC.
Furthermore, if some of your music has been bought from an Internet music store it might be procted by DRM. If so it cannot be imported in to iTunes.
To do the importing you would either drag the music files in to iTunes, or tell iTunes to open them. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1347

Can I import contacts to Outlook for Mac using my iphone?  I turned on sync in outlook and in itunes, but still not syncing.

You need a vCard format.  I believe one option is to import your csv file to Google contacts, then export them as a vCard that can be imported to iCloud.

  • Is it possible to import MS Outlook Mail for MAC 2011 files into AppleMail?

Is it possible to import MS Outlook Mail for MAC 2011 files into AppleMail?

    Yes and no.
Outlook for Windows (or Mac) can save individual emails as .msg format, Apple Mail cannot import these but there is a utility that can convert them to the .eml format supported by Apple Mail.
    See http://45rpmsoftware.com/mailraider.php
Outlook for Windows can also export entire folders of emails as PST files, again Apple Mail cannot import these but there are utilities which can convert PST files to the mbox format supported by Apple Mail.

  • Iphone not being recognized by Itunes for MAC; But works in Windows Vista

    Hi,
My iphone sync with Windows without problems.
But when I plug my iPhone in MAC (10.5.5) with Itunes (8.0.2) the iTunes return: itunes could not connect to the iphone 0xE8000001
It is strange because iPhone connect with iPhoto without problems.
Just iTunes for mac dont work.
This is a brand new minimac.
    Any tips?
    Rogerio

    RogerioNT,
Which USB port are you connecting it to?
iPhoto will transfer over a USB 1.1 connection, and many hubs are USB 1.1. Try connecting the iPhone directly to the back of the computer.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

Any knowledgeable iTunes users are welcome to post a second opinion.

I will send up an alert for you, Colin. Even though I use iTunes for Mac, troubleshooting it isn't my forté.

I think those contacts still in iphone database. So you can back up you iphone with itunes to get iphone database off your iphone. Then access the SQLite batabse.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
All data included with the backup is stored in a SQLite database format with the data within various folders not easily accessible. There are some 3rd party utilities that provide for extracting select data from an iPhone's backup and iphone database such as this one.

  • How to convert wma in iTunes for MAC to mp3

The iTunes support manual mysteriously indicates that iTunes for MAC can convert WMA files to other formats, but doesn't tell me how! How do I convert the WMA files to mp3? When I google, I keep getting links to other sites and I'm not sure how to pick a trusted site.
    iTunes 11 for Mac: WMA
Windows Media Audio; a digital audio file format created by Microsoft. iTunes can convert WMA files to other formats.

Peabody, for me, Adapter is the ticket, and a free one at that. Quick, easy to use, nice interface and very flexible in terms of formats, destinations, etc. Also converts video. Been using it for a month and love it.
