Importing music into ipod

Hello out there.
Got me an ipod nano, but I'm unable to import the music from a cd,through the computer, onto the ipod. When I hit the import button, it says importing, then plays the song again through the computer, but then nothing shows up on the ipod. Indeed, no song has then been downloaded. My daughter has her own ipod and is able to to this on the same computer.
Anyone have any suggetions.
thanks.

  • Is it possible to import music into iPad without using iTunes?

Do any of of you know whether or not it is possible to import music into iPad, like when you can import pictures, without the use of iTunes ( I don't have a computer)? I have music on my phone and on USB flash drives. Thnx

If you are in America then you can download your past iTunes music purchases via the store (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519). But no, you can't import from flash drives (the camera connection kit can only import photos and videos) or from an iPhone.

Possibly. Media Go supports a variety of music formats, some of which can be imported in to iTunes and then synced on to an iPhone, however some of its formats cannot be imported in to iTunes.
See http://mediago.sony.com/enu/supported-file-formats/ for a list of formats supported by Media Go. iTunes for Windows supports MP3, AAC, WAV, and can import and convert WMA files as well. However iTunes does not support ATRAC, or FLAC.
Furthermore, if some of your music has been bought from an Internet music store it might be procted by DRM. If so it cannot be imported in to iTunes.
To do the importing you would either drag the music files in to iTunes, or tell iTunes to open them. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1347

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Importing music into Final Cut Express?

Got "file error/unknown file" message after trying to import music into FCE. The music source are tapes I digitized using Garage Band and are now saved in my "music" folder as mpeg-4 (m4a). What to do? Do I need to re-digitize the tapes to a different file type? Do I need to convert the files? Or is there a way to import that I am missing? (I tried "import / files" and I also tried just dragging the files into the project window. The music plays fine in itunes and are individual files.
ADDED:  I now notice that when I try to "import / files" all my other audio does show up correctly when I click to "sound files" except from the music I digitized from the tapes. So, perhaps when I digitized them, I saved them as wrong film format??

We can't say as this is against the terms of ASC use.

  • Importing music into iMovie

I am new to Apple and the system. Does anyone know how I import music into my iMovie project?

Welcome flyerfansince79 to the  iMOvie boards..
iMovie is part of iLife, a suite of consumer apps for creating and managing digital media..
the 'meant' workflow for using music is:
import your music to iTunes (drag'n drop or 'Import')
=> then, you'll instantly notice your track in the 'Music' tab of iMovie..

  • Import music from iPod Classic into iTunes

I have an iPod Classic 120 GB that is still in perfect condition. I got it 5 years ago. I had imported several CD's into iTunes on my family computer and then imported them on to my iPod. I also had purchased some music from the iTunes store, but I had a lot more music that I had imported from CD's. An incident happened where a lot of my music got deleted from my iTunes account. I had over 5000 songs on my iPod from all the CD's, audio books, and purchased music I had imported into iTunes and then on to my iPod. When I plugged my iPod into my computer, iTunes recognized that there was music on my iPod that wasn't in my iTunes library. It asked if I would like to import the music that was on my iPod into my iTunes library. I said yes. Of the 5000+ songs on my iPod, only about 300 were imported back into iTunes, and then my iPod was synced. I lost the rest of my music. After this incident, I took several hours to re-import the CD's back into my iTunes library. Not too long after this, my computer crashed. Everything was wiped from my computer. We started by re-installing the drivers, Google Chrome, and I just re-downloaded iTunes. All the music that was in my iCloud has been backed up and added to my new library. This is only about 31 songs. I'm afraid to plug in my iPod again because it still has all the music on it that took so long to re-import. But now I can't add another CD on to my iPod without the fear of losing everything again. Does anyone know how I can make sure that ALL the music will be re-imported into my iTunes library again when I plug in my iPod? I don't want to go through this ordeal again if I don't have to.

  • Problems with importing music into my 60gb ipod

I really need some help.. I just recently got the new 60gb ipod and had no problems imporitn music, i have a windows Xp and installed Itunes in which i registed my ipod, i then went on my sisters IBook and imported music from her. I then sucessfully imported more music from my windows computer. well i am currently visitn her and used her comp for more importing when somethien went wrong. My ipod will only play her music and not mine from my computer. It reads the playlists as if my music was there but when selected, it simply skips it and then when i try to play it on her comp the exclamation point goes up. I dont know what to do.. someone please help me!!!

Melissa, iPods were not made to dock to 2 totally different computers. This was done to prevent illegal file sharing. When you originally docked your iPod to your personal computer, the iPod views that as its "home". In docking to your sister's computer, you would have gotten a message saying something to the effect about " this iPod is linked to another library. do you want to replace iPod's contents with the current music library?" If you said "yes", you have now told iPod that your sister's computer is its "home" & that's why it can no longer access your music. The only way to get your music back is to do a restore of your iPod & allow iTunes to re-sync the library on your computer to your iPod.
Even though you are sisters, if you don't live in the same household what you are attempting to do is considered to be illegal file sharing. PLEASE DON'T STEAL MUSIC!

  • Syncing new music into ipod touch

Imported CD into Itunes. Want to only sync certain songs from list. Everything they told me to do, I tried. I can't sync anything. I do have some songs on Ipod but I don't know how it got there previously unless it downloaded when I first set up Ipod.

    Hello Jdfcardinals1,
If the music you lost is no longer on your iPod or in your iTunes library, then I'm afraid you are out of luck.  If the music was from ripped CDs, you'll need to re-rip them into iTunes.  If they were in iTunes, you may not be able to get them back without repurchasing each track.
    Sorry.

  • Cannot import music into my itunes account

i get the following message whenever i try to import music, which i have purchased, into iTunes "you do not have enough access privileges"
I am the administrator, i went to iTunes info, selected my self, gave myself read and write privileges and made myself owner of the account.  Why can't i import?

It's pretty much as simple as selecting all, then a drag and drop into your iTunes library:
iTunes: About the Add to Library, Import, and ... - Support - Apple

  • Cant drag music into iPod

For some reason, i can't drag my music into my iPod or anything in the panel on the right hand side for that matter (playlists, ect..)
I updated my iTunes and it still does not work.
Has anyone had this problem before?
    1   Windows XP

Check to see how iTunes is set for synchronization (iPod Options). If iTunes is set to automatically synchronize with your iPod, you cannot drag music to the iPod nor delete tracks or playlists from it. Only if iTunes is set for manual synchronization can you drag tracks and playlists on and off your iPod yourself.

  • Importing music into cs4 trouble

everytime i try to import musci into cs4 premiere pro to play as audio i get the file is not supported so it wont import...the music i have has no copyright stuff its what u buy and can use for whatever you want.  What am i doing wrong?  each time it says E:\Track01.cda is not supported

    Wayne,
    Welcome to the forum.
Can you give us the full specs. of that/those music file(s)? That will very likely hold the key.
Also, one can convert many formats of Audio to PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit with Soundbooth, Audition, or the great, free audio-editor, Audacity. Just do a Save_As, or an Export (differs by program), and choose PCM/WAV (Uncompressed) 48KHz 16-bit, and Import that WAV file into PrPro. It will work perfectly, just as Peru Bob indicates. As there might be issues with the original file format, knowing that will allow someone to be very specific about what you do.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
