Importing of pics

In PHOTO ALBUM STARTER when I imported a folder, which had all pics numbered in sequence, they were imported out of sequence, thus when I created a slide show nothing was in order. Would seem this smart program cannot even do a simple import without screwing it up. If there is a way to fix would like to know, otherwise I will deleting this program, and not even consider buying anything with ADOBE name on it.

Jack,
I think that you are making an assumption about how the Photoshop Album Starter Edition works and that this assumption is not correct.
I suggest that you spend some time reading about the software that you are using. Since you have the Starter Edition, I suggest that you read the Help topics that come with the product.
There are books available on Photoshop Album; however since you have the free Starter Edition and the books that I know cover the paid Adobe products, they do discuss functions not available to you in the Starter Edition.
>In PHOTO ALBUM STARTER when I imported a folder, which had all pics numbered in sequence, they were imported out of sequence, thus when I created a slide show nothing was in order.
It seems that you are assuming that the default sequence in Photoshop Album (starter) is the Windows File Name sequence and that assumption is probably the source of your problem.
The default sequence for viewing photos is
b Newest First
according to the
b Date Taken
in the photo file. In the paid product you do have sequencing choices of Newest First, Oldest First, and Folder Location. I think that these are all available in the Starter Edition; but I am not sure.
There is also a function called a
b Collection
where you can sequence the photos however you wish by using drag and drop. Suggest you check the Starter Edition Help to verify that the Collection function is available to you.
FYI - Many of the forum participants are other Adobe customers, so complaining to us will not make any difference.

Cannot import any pic file type already on my "hard disk" to LR 4.4 library on macbook pro retina. I am able to it on my pc win7-64 with LR 4.3. Any solution? Import from sd card works ok.

Just found out I can open the pics in LR 4.4 and they go into the library. I just cannot import from LR4.4.  They are greyed out.

  • My RAW files suddenly says "Unsupported Image Format" and can't import new pics

    Hi all,
A week ago I imported the latest bunch of RAW-images from my Canon EOS 30D (.CR2-files) and all was working great. I did take some of the pics and exported them to an e-mail and sent them off to a friend. Then after rearranging my home office I was trying to import some pics from my iPhone 4 - won't work!
And the RAW-images are not supported any longer!...??
    Facts:
    - iMac 2,66MHz Core 2 Duo/4GB/OS 10.8.1
    - Aperture 3.3.2
    - Aperture Library located on a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+
Have searched for a solution without finding anything that works...
    Have tried to:
    - repair permissions
    - examine database
    - tossed com.apple.Aperture.plist to the trash
    - am right now trying to rebuilding database as a last resort
Anyone have a good idea as I'm very reluctant to belive that rebuildning will work?
    BR,
    Pete

    Thanks for your reply!
I've looked into it a bit.
The ReadyNAS uses Linux Ext3/Ext4 file system.
Found that my rights to Aperture Library has been downgraded to "Read only" even though I'm the admin...
Won't take changes either... Get a message stating that I don't have the privilage to change file rights...!!
I've just started a copy session of the 125 GB large Library to the internal HDD... It seems like a good idea to have it there - even though it's eating massive amounts of disk surface! Almost 20%...
I'm calling Netgear tomorrow - how the heck can may rights be changed, just like that???
Funny thing it's been working fine for a pretty long time, it's after Mointain Lion it has started to acting up.
I did have similar problems the day after upgrading to ML but after a firmware upgrade of the ReadyNAS it worked like a charm again - until yesterday...
Hope that I'm allowed to change the rights when it's been copied to the internal disk... Been typing and researching file system type etc for at least 15 mins now and it's still "preparing to copy"
Here's what I found in Console, the line called "2012-09-13 01:13:16,238" gave it away for sure (while trying to import new pictures).

  • Transfer(import) 3d pic (PS5) into flash

How can I integrate a 3D pic created in PS5 into flash cs5 and keep it spinning (like a Globe) ?
normal import function in flash is not preserving the 3 d sturture created in ps5

    hi,
thanks for your reply. I tried your suggestion  but unfortunately it didn’t work. The image is still a kind of postcard with a frozen snapshot of the 3D image. I rendered  the PS5 3 d image into video in PS 5, then transformed this video with the media encoder into a f4v file and imported this into flash which worked out. Can you think of any other possibility or a way how to preserve the 3D data form Photoshop? is there a way to do this via papervison?
    Best regards

  • IPhoto won't import my pics from my iPhone.

When I try to import my pics from my iPhone into iPhoto, iPhoto scrolls through a few of them and then reports that there was an error downloading an image and quits trying to import the pics all together. It also stops showing the the iPhone is plugged into the computer when this message comes up. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There will may be more than one. Remove them all.)
If the issue persists try importing a different set of images to ensure iPhoto is functioning correctly.
Try going to File > Import to Library > Macintosh HD > Library > Desktop Pictures. If these images import then we know there is something wrong with the images on your iPhone or the iPhone itself.
Try importing the pictures using Image Capture found in Macintosh HD > Applications. If Image Capture can import the pictures you can then try importing them to iPhoto again.
Once you have the pictures off the Phone, try taking a few pictures and import again. If the issue persists with new pictures follow this article to restore the phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Hope that helps.

  • Why does iPhoto not recognize the .jpg pics from a Kodak C875 now? I can stick my memory card in the iMac and import them that way, but iPhoto will not import the pics from the camera.

Why does iPhoto not recognize the .jpg pics from a Kodak C875 now? I can stick my memory card in the iMac and import them that way, but iPhoto will not import the pics from the camera.

There have been many issues reported with Kodak cameras - serach the forums for them
Actually the best practise is to use a card reader to import your photos, verify that they are imported ocrrectly and wait at least one backup cycle and then use the camera's format command to reformat the card and erase it - this assures no lost photos and always having the card properly formatted

  • Please help me! I imported my pics to iphoto but I can't open them now. I can't see them on full Screen/edit them like before. All I get is a exclamation mark when I double click on them. I don't have copies, can someone please help me?

I imported all my pics to Iphoto and I can't open/edit them now. When I double click on them, I only get an exclamation mark. Please help me I don't have copies. I tried burning them to a cd but it didn't work. Can someone please help me?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Moving photos off of my mac's hard drive & onto an external without affecting my imported LR2 pics

    HI! A little info first...
I am a photog so I have thousands of photos that i work with from my Mac's Internal Hard Drive.
First, I upload photos from my camera to the Pictures folder on my Mac.
Then, I upload the photos LR where I choose the ones I want to keep and edit. I, then, export my edited photos back to the original folder they were in.
I backup daily using Time Machine, so I am good there, but my HD is about completely full so I need to MOVE the folders of Pics OFF of my computer's HD.
I know that if I move the photos off of my HD and onto an external, all of my photos will in LR will be lost (broken links?).
    So, I have two questions...
How can I do this big move and still keep my LR folders in tact? Is this possible?
    and,
Should I start a new catalog to begin my new batch of incoming photos? I have so many folders in LR now, that I sometimes have a hard time finding the folder that I need.
    **I am using LR2
Thank you so much, in advance, for any help or suggestion!!!
    Heidi

    Hi Heidi!
       Okay, let's see...
i ADD photos to catalog without moving. and when i export...i export them back to their original folder.
So basically, you are elminating most of the functions of using LR in the first place.  So, let me explain a bit..
LR is designed to do a couple of things for your;  manage large collections of images, and edit images without destruction of the original image.
Let's take the last one first:  without destruction.   You are pointing LR at an original image (using the Add import).   You then use LR to do all the edits you like to it.  Then you Export back into the same directory, _overwriting_ your original.  This means that all of the history that LR keeps track of, such as your color edits, etc, gets wiped out.   That neatly negates LR's ability to do non-destructive editing.   Because you can't go back to your original, having overwritten it.
Do you have a reason why you shoot in jpg mode?  Or is it just because you haven't understood or tried raw mode?  The difference shooting in raw makes is quite dramatic in LR compared to shooting in jpg.  (And, it makes it almost impossible to overwrite the original!)  But that can come as a later refinement, if you wish.  Let's work on your current problem.
on the left side, under folders...i have about 200 folders from the last
year and i have about 60,000 photos total in my catalog. obviously, it
is getting hard for me to find folders when i need them even though i do
label each folder with the year/month/brief desciption (2010 december
    xmas)
I think we have a different description of how you create folders.  If you have 200 hundred folders, you are not doing what you claim;  year/month/... Becuase that would mean you have been taking photos for 200 years!
Here is what I meant by folder structures.  I keep all of my images in a sub-folder called MainCatalog.  That way, when I do backups, I only have to grab that one folder, and everything below it is backed up.
Top level is major project, it's the one farthest left, below my parent folder:
    MainCatalog
       family_farm
       rugby
       wedding
Under those catagories, each one has a year folder.
    MainCatalog
       family_farm
                2010
                2011
And each folder under the year has month
    MainCatalog
      family_farm
               2010
                     2010-01
                     2010-05
And each folder with month under it has the day,
    MainCatalog
      family_farm
              2010
                    2010-05

You could, for example, replace the bottom folder with a description appended to it.  You can see that this decreases the number of folders you have to scan to find what you are looking for;  by knowing the year and month, it's down to at most 31 folders.  This can be changed around; you could remove the top level project, and just use the rest of it, or move the project to the bottom... many ways of doing it.  One reason I chose this method is that LR will create all of the folders for me, I just create the top level major project folder.  Then in the import dialog, I point to the major project folder, and tell LR to import via the date format, and choose the year->year-mon->year-mon-day format.  Easy.
Now, as to moving your images to an external disk...
First, I would promote a parent folder.  This is done from within LR.  Bring up LR, and right-click on any of the folders you currently have, and select "promote parent folder".  This will have the effect of moving all of your folders into a sub-folder, and you'll now see the sub-folder at the very top in your list.  This is good.
And by finder, we meant the normal operating system's finder, not from within LR.  Some people move from within LR, some don't.  I find that if I use the operating system to move my files and later tell LR to reconnect them, I don't have problems with LR not being able to see the drive, as some people say they do.  Works both ways, but I obviously like my way better.
Now, as to moving your images... yep, it's easy, as someone else pointed out.  Just drag (move, not copy) and drop onto your new hard drive from your operating system.  Then when you bring up LR, you'll see '?' on the folder pane, saying LR doesn't know where these are anymore.  Right-click on the  top-level (parent) folder that you promoted, and browse to the new location and LR will connect them again.  The reason for doing the promote parent is that you only have to do this once; LR will connect all of the folders below it if they are in the same structure.
You don't need to upgrade to LR 3.3 if you don't need to yet;  I would recommend downloading Lr 2.7, however, as it fixed a few bugs in 2.6.  And it's a free upgrade.  With your current worfflow, there isn't a dramatic improvement in using 3.3.  The improvements are mostly for raw files, and many people have found that 3.3 is slower in regards to 2.6/2.7.
    Does that make sense now?
    Cheers!

  • Import still pics from video camera into iphoto with firewire?

I have a new panasonic pv-gs250. Although it is PC based, I was able to bypass their software and use imovie by attaching a 4 to 6 firewire to the dv port. It imported the movieclips with no problem. When I changed the mode on the camera from replay movie mode, to view pics mode (it can take stills on an sd card), it said that there was no cable connected. I tried using iphoto and importing from there, but it says there's not cable connected. There has to be a simple solution to this! Please help. thanks.
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

So, just to be sure, I used the USB cord and opened iphoto. Briefly, under sources, it said it was reading the Panasonic. I got up and when I came back, the Panasonic source was gone, and it said I couldn't close the window because it was importing files. Nothing new has shown up in the library yet. I also don't see anything counting down the loading, or importing. Do you think it's working, but just slow? Or is it having a hard time adjusting to the non-mac compatible thing, and it can't be done? thanks.

I am trying to import some jpg pics off my camera to iphoto.  (Version 9).  I am doing nothing different than I did the last time I imported them to iphoto. I only have about 250 pictures on my computer, so I know it's not full.  The only thing that was done different was that my child imported them to another account on the computer.  I have since moved them to my account with the sharing feature.  I formatted my camera's memory card, and took about 3 pictures.  Even those pictures I still get the error:  The following files are in an unrecognizable format.  Can someone please help??

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Final Cut Express (4.0.1) keeps on freezing (not responding) when i import files (pics). Have force quit 3 times already. Also rebooted Mac. Any help please?

Frustrating experience with Final Cut Express 4.0.1 today. Started a new project. Imports pics, but every now and then FCE freezes and I have to force quite. Any advice please. Thanks

CMYK is a colour system used by specialized publishing businesses so unless you have got your pictures directly from one of these sources they are unlikely to be CMYK.
If the pictures have been produced by you they are likely to be the normal RGB.
To check, ctrl click on an original picture and in the Get Info window check the colour specs.
As you can see this one is RGB.
Click image to enlarge for clarity.

  • Affter importing some pics to Trial, I am now running Full Aperture 2

After installing Upgrade to Aperture 2, all my pics from Aperture 1 were converted and show up OK. How do I get the pics that I imported into the Trial Aperture 2? I can't specify (it is greyed) that library as default library under preferences for some reason. When I try to open that Trial Library from Finder and specify to open with Aperture 2, Aperture 2 opens and runs the huge library of pics that was converted from Aperture 1. Aperture Trial was running fine before I ran the installation of the upgrade.
    Thanks!!
    Michael

right click on the trial library -> show package contents ...
drag out the projects that you created in there ...
open aperture and file -> import -> projects (locate the ones form the trial lib) ...

  • Imported PNG pics from PS problem. .

Hi to all members here! I am new to this forum, and if I posted here wrongly I am sorry. You can delete or move this if this post already exists or in the wrong thread..
I am new to flash CS5 and I am having a problem creating a character with multiple parts. .
My problem is. I created the character parts in PS: CS5 and save it individually as PNG with transparent background, but when I Imported it to Flash CS5 and applied a bone on it and test the bone. The image is messed up and as I realize that the individual png transparent image has a background. . That's why the imae pic is distorted, messed up. .
    I know it's hard to imagine so I post a pic. .
As what I have said. It is only an example screen cap of the problem. . When I apply a bone and test that is the result. .
Please.. Help me. . I am unable to draw in Flash cause it's different from PS which where I draw the chars, parts, and everything. . Please help me!

    1. Hold control and R, this will bring up the import manager.
    2. Locate your PSD FIle (The  Photoshop file) will be a blue icon.
    3. Select the file.
    4. Flash will import it onto the stage, it will be displaying everything you would normally see in photoshop.
    5. Look on the timeline, it will have folders ect, representing the layers in photoshop.
    - If you drew your character in photoshop and used common sense; Each arm leg ect should be on seperate layers, this will benifit you once in flash.
    6. Once all of your assets are in flash. Which they should be if you followed this. Select say the right arm, convert it to a symbol (Just to make things easier) Because if its a separate symbol you can ignore the folders on the timeline, and if you have common sense delete them whist still using thw symbol.
    7. Then use your bone tool to animate according to your goals.
If you are still completely confused Email me the PSD, or upload it onto rapidshare or something and i'll show you what i mean.

  • Importing custom pics for controls?

    Hello all,
After poking around in the NI Example Finder I found a VI that verifies that I can modify the interface with custom pics and such...  I found it under "Building User Interfaces / Customizing Controls / Using Custom Controls.VI"  I'm trying to find out how they changed the pictures for the sliders and such, but each interface simply has  "Custom pics were imported for the...."  in the properties folder.
...ok, HOW did they import the custom pics?   Maybe I'm making this too hard.  Is there a bitmap image of the slider or knob that that I can modify?  I've done a search in the Knowledge Base, searched on here, searched on LAVA... I'm probably making this too hard, but if someone in the know will point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it!
    Thanks!

  • Importing nikon pics

my friend has some pics on cd that came from nikon camera (forgot nikon extension) - when i tried to import the whole cd into iPhoto 09 - it worked for a minute - then said that x pic could not be found - when i told it each one at a time - it did import them - but way to much work...
I believe it may be converting each one to .jpg from nikon format....
Q: is there a way to import the whole cd at once - without manual interaction?
gear imac late model w 10.6.x

This sometimes occurs if you’re importing a file into iPhoto and there’s already a file there with the same name. Digital cameras can produce many, many files with the same name over their lifetime, so it’s not uncommon to have several files called IMG_00543.JPG, for instance. Now you want to import one also called this.
What happens is that iPhoto compares the two files to check for duplicates. However, if iPhoto cannot find the file already in the database for comparison, then you get this message. It suggests that your database is damaged because iPhoto has lost track of this (or these) similarly named files.
A simple test is to rename the file you are importing - just add a character - IMG_00543a.JPG for instance. If this then imports with no issue then you might consider rebuilding your library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
I believe it may be converting each one to .jpg from nikon format....
If these are NEF files, i.e. Nikon Raw files then iPhoto is creating a jpeg preview on import. Read the help. Working with Raw is very different from working with jpegs.
