Importing of PSDs and others
I have a large number of older (pre digital camera) image files organized in the finder. When navigating to these folders via Aperture/import many, many of the image files do not even show up. Of course, many of these files are layered PSDs and/or various versions (tiff, jpeg, etc) of an original scan. When in question, I have to compare the import window with the contents of any given folder in the finder. It is quite difficult to see which files are not shown in Aperture due to the large number of files in the folders.
The questions are these...why don't these files show up? How can I make them show up?
I know about the potential layered PSD problem. I've followed the guidelines regarding preferences in Photoshop.
All of the unseen image files I'm referring to are originally from scans of original film. So far, it appears that if the original was from a digital camera, the layered version does appear in the import window. With Aperture, the future looks bright but the past is gloomy.
Additionally, once I determine which images do not show, I'm unable to drag/drop that image into an Aperture project. Direct drag/drop is allowed of the images that do show in the import window. What is it about these images that is not supported? Many of them are not layered at all, but are just ordinary jpegs or psds.
dual 2.7 G5 Mac OS X (10.4.3) 4.5 g RAM
Some of the files that would not show up in Aperture/import did not do so apparently because of age. I found that if I opened them in PS CS2 and 'saved as' they were then seen. I set up a PS action to open and resave (to a different disc) and they were fine (I lost my hierarchy of folders in doing so). Since these were 'masters', I had never saved new ones to the same location. Some of these had possibly never even been saved in OSX, only System 9. Many were likely saved on some older version of Photoshop, since I've had that since Version 5 or before it's hard to tell where the cutoff is.
Other files were not seen (apparently) due to odd naming conventions. Some files I had named 'nameofimage.mini' or .small or .whatever, that's a mistake. In days of yore, I didn't even know about file extensions.
While there are still hundreds of images scattered about my drives that may not be recognized, I was able to import a core group of important portfolio images by modifying them as described above.
I guess Aperture is a good reason to really clean house and purge an overwhelming amount of duplicate or outdated images. Ultimately, if Aperture prevails, I'll likely have to re-save hundreds of images in order for them to make it into the library.

Is there a way to import a .psd and use its data?
Like if I were to take a non flattened, layered .psd and load it in using as3, would I be able to get information about each layer in the .psd, such as position, name of the layer, etc.?
You cannot load PSD at runtime using AS3 (well at least not easily). If you're talking about importing to FLA this page may answer your question: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WS1D02DB71-AB5A-4f20-B359-C0AB1723B41Da.html (but then this is AS3 forum )

Problem is, that Indesign cc 2014 does not recognize language correctly. In my case it should always be slovenian (and documents like doc and docx are set to slovenian), but it set it as slovakian. I get many documents from different programs (Word, Libre Office, Open Office ...). And setting every one after placing it into document is time consuming. Word import was working great in InDesign 5.5. Now it just mixes local character formating. Also: importing docx takes too long, and when in document is some picture, it just freeze. So I must first open every doc/docx file and delete every picture/logo that is inside.
Any suggestions?Check the language of your default Character Style. If it's set to Slovakian, change it to Slovenian with no documents open.

Import problems iPhoto and other Photo software
Hi there,
I am a new MacBook Pro owner with Leopard 10.5.1 and iLife 08. Absolutely impressed by the system, but a bit disappointed that importing JPEG formatted photos from files sometimes results in garbled photos in iPhoto and Aperture, even though the originals are simply fine. Tried to used other software like GIMP, but the issue remains.
Is this a known Mac OS X problem? If so, does anyone have a solution for it?
I would be eternally grateful for any help I can get on the issue.
LucienHi Terence,
Thanks for answering. The photos have all been stored on my FAT32 formatted external USB 2.0 harddrive that I used with my old XP system. And the majority was taken with a variety of digital cameras (Toshiba, HP and Sony) and some were scanned in with a HP flatbed scanner.
I do not know how to check the color profile of the photos on the Apple system (I am still a newbie) and I did not look at them yet on my old XP system (but I will, but I am not near the system at the moment).
Would the color profile have anything to do with the problem?
Thanks for your answer!

Import/export workflows and other objects
Hi!
We are developing many workflows in a developing machine and eventually we are going to deploy them in production. What is the recomended way to do this? We cannot just dump the whole database... I could use the BPE to save each and every modified workflow in development as a file, and import them in production, opening every file through the BPE of the prod env. This seems a quite manual process for such a common task. Is there any other way?
Thanks!hi guys,
even i have a similar requirment. can anyone give a quick solution or refrence to some documentation regarding this
thanx in adv

How to import image, html and other files into your siteroot
Hi!
I teach basic web development at a highschool. They've been
using GoLive before I came along and they all stuggle to adapt and
understand why DW doesn't support a simple "add" or "import" files
within the program.
And frankly neither do I. For most user new to DW the
intuitive way to add files to the root folder is to:
-Right click the siteroot window (files tab) > add files
-File menu > add/import files
All of these could easily make a duplicate html, png, rar or
whatever file and put it into the site root without leaving the
application. Just a simple adjustment to make life easier for all
DW rookies.
Dont you agree?
Well, until anything changes, the fast way to control your
siteroot folder is still outside DW and in your files/folders of
your OS, right? Or drag and drop files into the site root also
works great.> and they all stuggle to adapt and understand why DW
doesn't
> support a simple "add" or "import" files within the

It doesn't need it. Just copy the files into the root folder
and DW will
see them.
> Dont you agree?
No.
> the fast way to control your siteroot folder is

right?
Yes - but you can do it all inside DW too. Note that at the
very top of
your site list in the Files panel you have access to
everything on your hard
drive.... You can copy and paste from that.

How to import ofice files and others on iphone
please help
In what context are you having problems? In any text box, such as this, you tap the .?123 button to get to the number page, then tap it again to go back to letters. If you need more symbols, from the number page tap the #+= tab.

Importing PSDs and TIFs with same image # as related RAW
Before I got LR4 I developed a series of images (thousands) with Bridge and Photoshop. I've now decided to build a LR catalog of the series.
As I import I want to use the Image # option to rename files, making the whole mess of photos "cleaner" with unique names, etc. Of course I want ot import Raw's and the Tif/Psd images I made along the way. I notice the Image numbering process does NOT recognize the relationship between the raw and edited files. So files (img_123.nef and img_123.tif) become (img-01.nef and img-02.tif). I would prefer the tif file be named img-01.tif so the link between the two remains obvious.
Is there a way to make this happen? Key to creation date & time?
I realize this is a really specific issue, but if the point is to make the series tidier and more coherent it would be a useful feature.
Thanks in advance.Date and time works, but it's a little indirect and you can't so easily search for this. You can IIRC extract just the numerical part of the original image filename, and build that into your renaming options - maybe along with a sequence number to impose uniqueness. This should be buried inside all versions derived from the same original capture, at least by default.
As one example, you could get maybe ... 00024-img121.nef, 00025-img122.nef, 00026-img122.tif, 00027-img122.tif, 00028-img123.nef ... - if you had two added TIF edits of the image with 122 in its original name, as well as an original Raw of 121, 122 and 123. A text search for "img122" would then find all related versions. -
Older PSD and Tif files don't import
I know I have seen this on the forum, but I could not find it. I am importing all of my archives into Aperture. Some older PSD and Tiff files (pre 2000) just don't import. No warning. Just missing files. This is a bit scary as I can't go through all of the folders 1 by 1 to see what is missing. Is this a known bug....any work arounds. Thanks
mac book, Dual 2gig G5 Mac OS X (10.4.8)Maybe. But, frankly, Aperture is not a PSD archiving and workflow appliation. It is a photographic workflow application. Adobe, by nature of having written Photoshop, probably has better support for old Photoshop formats than does Apple.
If you really need to import 40,000 PSD files into something, I would suggest Aperture is not the best tool for you. You want an asset manager or something that specializes in archiving/search. Aperture's raison d'etre is RAW photos, you know, that come from a camera. -
Free Goods Import Process with Customs, Freight, and Other Taxes.
hi,
I have to import free goods but have to pay for Customs, Freight, and other Taxes.
1. If I tick Free Goods Indicator in PO Line Item, Condition Tab at line item disappears. It will not to calculate other conditions at Header level also. - So I cant execute this option.
2. If i take price of material and insert Condition Type: R001:Discount/Quantity with material price/qty, then it gives Error Message - "Price Must be greater than 0".
So, Is there any way through which I can procure Free Goods and can maintain conditions for Customs, Freight, and other Taxes in Purchase Order.
Please help me in this regard.
- JigneshHi,
1) Create an import PO in ME21N with material price and all custom duty conditions (as you normally create). no need to put free tick indicator.
2) Process MIRO for goods and delivery costs simultaneously.
3) Maintain zero amount for goods item and actual values for the duties (Ensure selection of goods item including delivery cost items)
4) Save the LIV document
5) Check PO item history got updated with IR-L and DCIn. (IR-L will updated with zero amount)
6) Do MIGO w.r.t. IR document number.
7) GR FI document will get updated with the non-set off duty values only.

In need of help didn't install find my iPhone on my iPhone 5 and it got stolen from me at a dd's but I had my id and other important stuff in it I need to find it because I can't risk getting my identity stolen what can I do.
You don't have to install the Find My iPhone app - you need to switch the feature on in the settings on the phone.
If you go here: https://www.icloud.com/#find does your phone show up?
