Importing photo error.

I am running iLife 08 on my Mac Book Pro but when I try to import the photos that I received on a DVD from my family it says:
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/8650/iphotoerrorri1.png
Now when I open the disk on my PC it shows all the photos so I tried to share it on my Windows PC and now I can view all the photos in Preview but it still can't import them. So I copied them from the share to a folder on my desktop and tried importing then and it still wont import them.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try using Resize! to convert the folder of problem jpgs to a new folder of jpgs with the following settings: Quality level = Custom (100), Proportional resizing = 100 percent.
A new folder will be created with a new set of jpg files. See if they can be imported successfully.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPod jumps to Import Photos - errors out

Original 20 GB iPod updated to 3.1.1. While playing music iPod jumps to Import Photos and errors out "no card inserted". It does it intermittently but often frequently. Does not lock up but I have to go back through menu and reselect music options. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. It is black and white and while playing music, earphones or through remote player, mp3 style or the full iPod plug, it stops playing and the the message on the screen is "card not inserted" and when I page back through the menu it goes to Import Photos.

  • Recovered Imported Photos Error/Message

When I recently converted back from Windows XP to MacOS I did an import of all pictures in My Pictures directory on Windows into iPhoto. Not sure what happened, but there are 145 pictures that are duplicates that I deleted, but then every time I launch iPhoto it now gives me a message stating:
"145 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported. Would you like to import them?"
When I select "No" I get next:
"The photos have been placed in the folder /Users/charltonmonsanto/Pictures/iPhoto Library Recovered Photos_17"
17 being the number of times I have launched iPhoto since this started. It creates a folder every single time...
Any way to tell iPhoto to forget about these photos? I have deleted all of the folders. I have said yes to the import question and then deleted them again...

TD...I'm having the same problem, and I am new to Mac. Where do I find the Pictures folder? In Iphoto? I imported all my photos directly from an external hard drive into Iphoto. Come to find out though that maybe I should have downloaded them to a folder in Imac first, then uploaded them into Iphoto. Live and learn. Note...the error repeats each time I open Iphoto, but it's the same pic each time and for the sake of me I can't find it anywhere. Appreciate any help you can give.

  • Imported photos error message & Pictures Folder in Library question

I've spent today moving my photos from an external drive to iPhoto on my new iMac. I was pretty much successful, except for a few problems, and questions:
I dragged My Pictures folder from the e-drive to iPhoto, copying the pix. Long story short, I stupidly did it a second time a few hours later, causing a duplicate folder for every one I already had in iPhoto. I dragged each dupe folder to the trash, emptying it after every 100 photos or so. I merged some events, deleted some unwanted pix and organized things a bit.
Okay, I thought everything was fine, but the next time I opened iPhoto, I got this message: "3 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported. Would you like to import them?" I hit "Yes", which brought up this message: "3 Unreadable files - The following files could not be imported...". This added a Recovered Photos folder to "My Albums" in iPhoto. I closed iPhoto, and when I opened it again was presented with the same "...would you like to import them" message. This time I hit "No" and was told the files could be found in my Library in a "Recovered Photos" folder.
I went to Go then to Library and found 2 Recovered Photos folders in "Pictures" in library. I tried to open one and it started Terminal (yikes!). I quickly quit Terminal, hoping I didn't cause my Mac any harm. In the meantime, every time I open iPhoto, I get the same message, along with another Recovered Photos folder in both My Albums in iPhoto and in the Pictures folder in my Library. I now have 6 of these folders in my Library and I'm afraid to go near them. Can I delete them or is that a no-no? (Sorry, I'm an ex-PC user). What can I do to stop that "would I like to import the 3 photos" message every time I open iPhoto?
Also, I know that when I'm ready to backup my photos to the e-drive I'll drag the iPhoto library file from the Library folder directly to the e-drive. But... why are the folders I originally dragged from the e-drive into iPhoto still in my Library folder under "Pictures"? They still have the names I originally gave them when they were on my e-drive, and I've since renamed and merged them in iPhoto. If they've been copied into the official (or whatever it's called) iPhoto library file, then are they dupes? Can I safely delete the old folders or do they serve some kind of purpose?
    Thank you in advance,
Sunny (scared to make any mistakes on my new precious machine!)

I dragged My Pictures folder from the e-drive to iPhoto, copying the pix.
That imports your old library into iPhoto and will give you duplicates of all photos and triplicates of modified photos - the way to move your iPhoto library to a new machine is to connect the machines together - via a network or firewire target mode - drag the iPhoto library (if there is one) on the new machine to the desktop and drag the old iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the pictures folder of the new Mac and launching iPhoto on the new machine - there is no importing involved

Doing the above procedure will correct this since you are removing the library that has the problem and bringing over a good library
If this ever occurs in the future it is one of the very few times that you should delete something from your iPhoto library - quit iPhoto, right click (control click) on the iPhoto library and select the show package contents command - drag the import (or importing) folder to the desktop and launch iPhoto - the problem will be gone - open the import(ing) folder(s) on your desktop and be sure that there are no photos in there that you want and then delete the folders
Also, I know that when I'm ready to backup my photos to the e-drive I'll drag the iPhoto library file from the Library folder directly to the e-drive. When you drag between volumes it copies the files/folders - so to backup you drag the iPhoto library from the pictures folder on your iMac to the external hard drive it will copy it
As to deleting the iphoto library on the e-drive - I suggest you get your iPhoto library totally fixed ad tested on your iMac before deleting any original files or the old iPhoto library

  • HELP! Downloaded LR5 and when open it shows an error message saying error while trying to change from modules and I can not even import photos. Am I doing something wrong?

HELP! Downloaded LR5 and when open it shows an error message saying error while trying to change from modules and I can not even import photos. Am I doing something wrong?

I have the same problem, and the solutions in   Error changing modules | Lightroom do not work.  Even uninstalling and reinstalling a new copy did not solve the problem.  As anyone got an idea what other lingering files might be causing the problem?

  • I am getting the following error message when I try to import photos into iPhoto from my camera: "/private/var/folders/GB/GBl4wh8-ELqUVMI5dO-ryU   TI/-Tmp-/iPhoto/DSCF2033.JPG".  Have already tried removing and reinstalling iPhoto to no avail.

I am getting the following error message when I try to import photos into iPhoto from my camera: "/private/var/folders/GB/GBl4wh8-ELqUVMI5dO-ryU   TI/-Tmp-/iPhoto/DSCF2033.JPG".  Have already tried removing and reinstalling iPhoto to no avail.

Does this happen if you try to Import to Library within iPhoto, or is it when you connect your camera (and which is set to automatically use iPhoto) that this error message occurs?
If you open Image Capture > Preferences is iPhoto selected as the choice when a camera is connected?

  • Error message when trying to import photos into Bridge CS5

Hi, when trying to import photos from a card reader into Bridge CS5, I click "get Photos" and get the following error message: "cannot obtain all files from this device. Please ensure the device is connected properly, or that the battery is charged". It imports a small selection of the images from the sd card but that is all. I'm currently using a Windows 7 desktop computer with plenty of ram.
    Any suggestions?

Hi station_two, thanks for your quick response.
I can confirm that its not the card reader/cable, usb port, defective sd card or the computer itself. I have already eliminated all these potential culprits through trial and error using different several ports/cards/readers and even a different computer (although not into bridge).
I am able to copy the photos from the same card/card reader into Lightroom on the same computer (incidentally, when using Lightroom it uses the term 'Import photos'!)
I am using a number of Panasonic Lumix Micro 4/3s cameras (GH1/GF1/GX1). The sd cards have a combination of RAW and JPEG and the problem exists whether using 4GB or 16GB cards. I have plenty of space left on my hard drive and as stated, I'm running a fast desktop PC (Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS) so I'm certain this is not the issue.
Could this possibly be a problem with the cache?

  • Image Capture sends error message when importing photos from my camera

I tried to import photos from my Fuji FinePix JX600 using Iphoto. Received an error notice and was unable to import. Tried Image Capture and it imported 220 of 407 pictures and then sent an error notice. Very frustrated. It's a new camera and I never had any problem with my old camera. Can anyone tell me what the issue may be and how to resolve it?
    Thanks

    Good afternoon
There seem to be a number of possibilities.
Here is a thread that conatins a number of solutions.  The most common one is to load 50 pics at a time.

  • Error while importing photos to Lightroom 4

Hi, Lightroom 4 has somehow stopped importing photos from the card, which used to work perfectly before. It fails with error code 832. Has anyone seen this before? Error: "The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (832) "

  • Photoshop "import failed" error. Photos won't import from camera. Anyone else with this error?

    Hi,
I am using photshop elements 9 with windows 7. I have been successful in importing photos in the past.  Recently I have received the error message "import failed"  "95% nothing was imported the files or folder selected did not contain any supported file types or the files are already in catalog".  The files are not  in the catalog.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, I have repaired the catalog as suggested on another thread with the same issue.  Nothing is working.  On the catalog repair it said there were errors and I did the repair on those, I then tried to import again and got the same error message.  I then tried to tag a photo that was already in organizer and received an error message that the files are corrupt.'m beyond frustrated now. Thanks

  • HT1229 an error message while trying to import photos to IPhoto saying there is not enough room.

I have an IMac with a SS drive and a regular hard drive (1 TB). I'm starting to get an error message when importing photos to Iphoto that says there's not enough room on the hard drive. The SS drive says it has only 1 GB left on it, so obviously, somehow the setup is that the Iphoto library is on THAT hard drive and not on the regular one. How do I find the right "library" and how do I move it and where?
    Thanks.

The only way I could fix this was to dowload a free program called iFunBox. Once you've installed that and have it open on OSX, plug in your idevice/ iPhone etc (note: you may need to close any other Application that auto-accesses the device, like iTunes, iPhoto or image capture), then from the left side panel in iFunBox navigate to "Raw file system" then go to the following folder:
    >DCIM>100Apple
...then browse to the video/ image(s) required and drag them to the folder you wish to go on your Mac.
This worked for me first time.
    Good luck.
