Importing photo from my ipod ios3.1.3 to iPhoto

Hi,
I'm looking for a convenient way to import (backup) all pictures from an iPod Touch (1st generation) running iOS 3.1.3 into my Mac HD.
I tried several things, even connecting the iPod to a Windows 7 computer and failed so far.
Last attempt made was using iPhoto and connecting the iPod on my iMac (Mountain Lion OS X), while the iPopd device appeared, I couldn't see any picture to import, like if the iPod was empty (while it contains several MB of pictures).
I tried with iTunes, but I'm prompted to upgrade to iOS5 version and the backup taken seems so fast and small (less than 2MB) that i could't believe the picture will be recovered after the iOS upgrade.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Xavier.

You are right, I should have realized the photo were synced from an old computer to the iPod, hence counldn't appear in iPhoto nor any file browser the iPod was USB connected.
As the number of photo was low (320), I finally selected the image/copy, paste into email to move them out of the iPod to my iMac and it worked.
Thanks.

  • Lightroom 4.4 can no longer import photos from my iPod Touch 5

I've been importing photos from my iPod via USB without problems for over 6 months. In the last few days, importing from this device slowed down significantly. As of yesterday, the program freezes completely when I try to import (although it had worked earlier - albeit slowly - during that same session.)
    I've tried:
Restarting the program, computer, and iPod.
    Closing all other programs.
Removing all other external devices from the computer.
Uninstalling the computer's USB hubs and restarting.
Deleting all videos from the iPod's camera roll.
Reducing the size of the camera roll (down to 650 from about 800).
    Nothing has worked.
I'm still able to import fine from other sources (an external hard drive & a memory card).
Weirdly, I plugged in my husband's iPod Touch - which until then had never been used in Lightroom - and it also froze at import, so it seems to be a problem with the type of device rather than the device itself.
I'm running Windows 8 64-bit with 3.3 GHz Intel processor and 6 GB RAM.

I too had a problem. iTunes wouldn't sync any photos nor list my iPhoto Albums.
I created a second iPhoto library and then added some photos and created several albums to see if iTunes could see the new iPhoto library. It did see the new library. I then started to add photos to it. I finally found the offending files - 4 .avi files - that for some reason when added to the library caused iTunes to balk. I removed the files and all is well. I even have other .avi files in the original library and iTunes responds normally - just those 4 caused the problem.

  • Why can't I import photos from my iPod Touch to iLife?

I just tried to import photos from my iPod, and after selecting the photos I want, I pressed import selected and then I get a screen saying that they are unreadable files in an unrecognized format.  I have loaded hundreds of photos this way before and this is the first time i've had any trouble with it.
Any ideas on what to do?
    Many thanks,

A couple of people have mentioned an issue with this device. It appears that the OS is not storing the images in the standard way. Can you use another method to get the pics to your Mac? Bluetooth?

  • Importing photos from classic iPod or iPhone into iPhoto

My students are bringing in photos stored on their classic iPods or iPhones to import into iPhoto for use in their multimedia projects using either iMovie or iDVD. Some iPods and iPhones are not being recognized (no icon on the desktop) by the iMac when the USB cords are connected. The screen flashes "Do Not Disconnect" on the iPod or an error box appears saying something about only being able to sync to one library. I tried my daughters iPod and when I did the sync the photos were removed from her iPod. How can I get these great images into my students iMovie or iDVD projects without wiping out the photos from their iPod. Please help Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There are some 3rd party applications for copying photos from an iPod to a Mac. See this search result at VersionTracker.com.
Also ask in the iPod and iPhone forums. I think you'll get more users there who have addressed that issue there.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

    Hi ginger1616,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is unresponsive, try resetting it using this method:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article with these steps here:

  • TS1930 How can I copy photos from my iPod to computer without using iPhoto or Image Capture? I have Windows 7..

I was wondering, how can I transfer my photos from my iPod to my computer (not a Mac) ? I know you can do it with music because I have done before, so can you do the same with photos? In affect using the iPod as an external hard drive.. Thanks for all your help!!

The photos you synced to your iPod through iTunes are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnails of those photos.  So if you do manage to get them off your iPod, they will be quite small in size compared to the original ones you lost.
In order to get them off of your iPod, you'll need the help of some sort of 3rd party software. Here is one option.

  • HT201302 How do i import photos from my ipod to my laptp? Its a windows 8 laptop.

please help me? i need to move them onto my laptop as i have no avalabe memory left on my ipd.

For photos in the iPod Camera Roll (or Saved Photos for iPod without a camera)
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
For other photos (synced to the iPod) you need a third-party program like PhoneView or TouchCopy

  • Can one import photos from an iPod to a MacBook Air?  How?

I've lost a number of photos, and they now are only on a second generation iPod.  I want to see if I can retrieve them from there as opposed to replacing them with what is now on the MacBook Air.  Any assistance at all would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Apple, for business reasons, has made that transfer of data to an iPod from a Mac a one way street.  You will have to search for third party software that will allow iPod to Mac data transfer.  Also be aware that the fidelity of the images on the iPod will in all probability will not be the same as the originals when they were installed.
    Ciao.

  • Can't import photos from finepix A345 to iPhoto or Finepix viewer mac ibook

I had previously imported photos from my fuji finepix A345 camera to iPhoto on my macBookPro 10.4.9. Now I am trying to import new images from the same camera and iPhoto displays a message "no photos to import". I have installed Finepix viewer but it also shows no images to import. I have tried creating a new library on a second non admin account and still iPhoto says "no images to import". I was able to successfully import the same images to my thinkpad T41.
Please help me find a way to import photos from finpix A345 to my mac ibook pro. Note there are no movies in the photos I am trying to import. Thanks.

Are you sure there are images on the card you're importing from? (asking that just in case you chose to 'delete after download' with another computer).
Also, have you perhaps formatted the camera drive/card via another computer instead of from the camera itself?
If your MBP can read the card so can your Macbook. You might want to open 'Image Capture', then go to Preferences and make sure you have an application selected to 'launch' when a camera is connected.

  • Importing photos from Kodak EasyShare camera

I am attempting to import photos from my Kodak EasyShare CX7300 camera into iPhoto. I have uploaded photos from this camera onto the computer before, but for some reason, I am no longer able to do so. I have checked the cord connections of both the USB port and the camera, and both are fine. When I plug the camera into the computer and turn the camera on, the green light on the camera flashes and iPhoto opens, but the import process does not begin. I have been unable to find a way through which I can manually import the photos into iPhoto. I cannot install the EasyShare software that came with the camera because of restrictions placed on the computer by my school. Any suggestions, other than a new camera or a better computer? :-D Like I said, I've imported photos from the same camera to the same computer... why isn't it working now?????

    Jamie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A workaround until the reason for the problem is found is to use Image Capture to manually upload from your camera. It came with the Mac and is located in your Applications folder.
Have there been any software updates run just before this started occurring? What version of iPhoto are you running?
As a first step run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.
