You can also just drag and drop compatible photos into your project.

Are there any plugins or conversion methods to that can help import Print Shop files into InDesign?

None that I know of. That application is intended for home use, and does not
have much functionality in reguard to sending files to be printed on remote
computers. I've never even seen a decent PDF file coming from that program.

  • Importing photos resolution / file size

I am doing what is turning out to be a very long movie (1.5hrs). It contains a lot of imported photos, and I think it is those that has made it such a large file (they were taken on quite a high resolution so the file sizes are around 10 - 17 MB each). The entire project is 13GB and I have not finished it yet. Consequently I haven't enough memory to save a backup, and there is no way it will fit onto a DVD. So, my questions are:
Can I / do I need to reduce the file size of the photos I have already imported? (I have Ken Burns effects on all of them - if I can reduce the file sizes will I lose all this?)
What resolution do your photos need to be for them to be of good enough quality on a movie? (so that if I want to import any more I can bring them across at a lower resolution in the first place)
And finally how on earth am I going to get this project on a disc?! Please treat me gently with this one - I have read some of the previous forum answers and don't understand them
    Thanks

Please treat me gently with this one ...
good morning, Chellebelle, like some coffee.. ?
    'size'/better: resolution ..
a video is by standard ~640x480 pixel... you know, what a pixel is? a tiny dot. lots of dots = a picture.. lots of pictures = a video...
your stills are obviously larger, contain much more pixel. this is useful, when you apply lots of Ken Burns effects... you could lower the res in a pic processor (e.g. iPhoto allows in its Export dialog a 'lowering' or res)... but.. a lot of work, what for...?
    size of project ..
video is, by standard, 13GB/h ... no workaround for this... aside: larger harddrives...
just a word about the 'speed' and 'health' of your Mac: make sure, you have allways 10 - 15 GB free on the internal drive (you could use a nice ext. harddrive for iM projects...). going under this recommendation 'brakes' your apps & OS, finally will bring it to a total halt.
    size on DVDs ...
when iDVD detects your iM project in the 'Movies' folder (no need to share or send or export, in iM08 Apple axed that mostly useless option...), it will convert it. automatically. so, taadaahh, a ~60GB project (=lots of tape import) magically fits onto a 4.7 dvd-r ... called: converting/encoding...
if any more questions, don't hesitate to post here...
    another coffee....?
PS: you get simple, firewire connected harddrives for ~100$ ... a must for the homevideo maker..

  • Can't import photos from files and folders

Elemetns 11-- jsut bought it yesterday. Have used previosu versions for years but not on this pc.
Each time I try to import, it goes thorugh some number of photos, up through 2,00 plus sometimes and then says import failed and I get nothing. It claims the file is the wrong type (only jpgs and psds). I don't know what the stumbling block is or why elements doesn't jut ignore files it can't read and go on to the next.
Any help. AT this point Elements is totally useless for me.

After posting I tried importing one directory at a time until I found one that made elements screw up.
thentry smalll groups of files in that directory until I, like running through a binary tree, narrowed down the offending file.
Then I remoce that one file and continue searching for the next file What should have been a single operation taking minutes was very tedious, manually wading going through hundreds of directories and thousand of files.
Outcome:  there were 3 troublesome files (each in a different directory) holding up the import of more than 11,800 files. Shame Elements couldn't just offer to skip a file it didn't like instead of self-cancelling the whole import operation. cost me many hours of time. I'd call this a critical bug in the program error handling. I am amazed that a program this old, that's gone through as many revisions as the elements organizer has a bug in th error handling like this.

  • HOW DO I IMPORT PHOTOS BY FILE NAME TO THE IPAD 2

I need to organize my photos in my ipad by the file names that i have on my computer. I use a windows computer.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    See this article:
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
(the title says iPod, but it should work for iPad as well)
You need first to connect your iPad to your PC for the sync options to be available:
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed.
In iTunes, select your device's icon in the Devices list on the left.
    Click the Photos tab.
    Choose "Sync photos from."

  • Microsoft Word:mac - Batch Import Photos from file

    Hi,
I have recently upgraded to montain lion and the latest update to the office:mac 2011. I have noticed that my automator workflow is now no longer working. I created a workflow that allowed the batch importing of photos into a document. The workflow works if you run it from within automator but does not work from within word.
I have also noticed that the sample workflows now no longer work. Very strange. I did some searching on the internet and other people have posted these issues on forums but no one suggested a solution.
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Adrian

You're very close to what needs to be done. Make sure that your new presentation is in a view that shows slide thumbnails (either Navigator or Light Table view). Then, when you select the photos, drag to the thumbnail area. This action will create a separate slide for each photo that was dragged and dropped in the thumbnail area.

  • Photo shop files trouble ...transparent no longer transparent

When i send a photoshot file with a transparent background to motion to work on it all seems to go well. But, when i save and go back to FCP the photoshop file is no longer transparent (has a white background). Can someone tell me the fix for this? What am I doing wrong?
    thanks,
    CC

You should be able to double click on the photoshop file, as a sequence and find the white background layer. Then just delete it or copy and paste the other layers to your working sequence.
You'll find that even when you hide a layer in photoshop final cut will import that layer and just hide it for you.

  • How do I send photo shop element 8 attachments with gmail

I am told that photo shop file is an executable file that cannot be sent by gmail. I attach the photo file to my gmail but it refuses to send it.

Normally, to deactivate any Adobe product you just need to click the Deactivate option found under the Help option of the main menu bar at the top of the application window.

  • Excluding subfolders when importing photos in Photoshop Elements 10

In past versions of Photoshop Elements you could exclude subfolders when importing photos from files and folders.  In version 10 the "get photos from subfolders" is greyed out.  I normally do not want to include subfolders when importing.  I only want the top current folder.  Why the change?

    Hi,
    Just a further thought.
I have now tried versions 9 and 10 on a Windows 7 system and they both work the same. The "include subfolder" box is not active until I select a folder from the right side - selecting one on the left side doesn't activate it.
Which operating system are you using?
Did you change operating systems when you changed to PSE 10?

That is precisely the WRONG thing to do. You should never delete, but uninstall.
Now you need to look for, download and run the Adobe CS Cleaner tool.

  • Why can't I import photos?

Everytime I plug in my digital camera, it automatically loads up iPhoto and then it says "Loading Photos" and the spinner goes, and it never stops and loads pics. It says there's no camera attached. When I try to import photos under File, I select a folder and then it just cancels out of iPhoto. What should I do?!?!

    Hi Lizzzzard,
To fix your iPhoto Library do this:
    Close iPhoto
Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
Drag this library to your desktop
Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
This is the window you will get
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library
Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and choose it.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!

  • IPhoto, Adobe Photo Shop Elements, & Photo Files

Just noticed that Photo Shop Elements is on sale this week.  If I purchase/download it, will I lose my iPhoto library?  I have version '09, 8.1.2 (424).  I've never upgraded to a newer version of iPhoto for fear of losing my library, based on some of the comments from other forums.  I do have my computer backed up via a LaCie drive and have had to reload my library once before. (It's very scary when you think you've lose 30K photos!)

Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
    Screenshots are from PSE 10
Note 1:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Note 2:  editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library.

  • When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder, what happens if I delete the photo in Iphoto ? Will the original file in the folder be deleted too?

When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder to iphoto, what happens if:
    1. I delete that photo in iphoto? will the original file in the folder be deleted too ?
    2.  when importing, does the hard disk store 2 versions of the photo, hence occupying additional space in the harddisk?

1 - no  --  iPhoto only manages fiel within the iPhoto library - it does not ever do anything with files outside the library
2 - No idea what you are asking - by default (and strongly recommended) iPhoto copies the original to the iPhoto library and you delete the source file outside the iPhoto library - iPhoto alwasy has at least two versions of every photo and some times three - it always have the original, a thumbnail and once a photo is modified a preview - this is not optional - if it is not what you want then iPhoto is not the correct progrtam to be using for phopto management
