Importing photos...Disc not recognized

One of my family members took pictures at our family reunion today and put them on a disc for me. When I got home I decided that I wanted to put them on my MacBook Pro, but a message box popped up and said the disc was blank... I know for a fact that the disc isn't blank because a different family member borrowed the same disc earlier and was able to save the photos to their computer with no problem at all. Can someone please help me out?

Run a cleaning disc through your drive. If it doesn't help, your optical drive can't read that disc. Compatibility between drives is not perfect. Try another drive if possible, otherwise get someone to transfer the files to a USB flash drive.

  • Imported photos are not appearing in iPhoto...

Beginning in late August, all of my newly imported photos are not showing up in iPhoto.  However, I see them within the iPhoto directory.  Everything imported prior to late August is just as it should be.  Does anyone know the cause of this and how to fix it?  Thanks!

    Damaged database.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

why my canon 7d & 70D imported photo all not in RAW format? All in JPEG? Please settle it for me. thank you

You should take a look at iView Media or its Pro version. It is a cross-platform (Mac and Windows) program that is free of some of the stultifying limitations of iPhoto. For example, you can create multiple catalogs and you can easily catalog media (not just photos) that are not on the current disk, like media stored on CDs. It has very flexible cataloging features.
If they have not changed their licensing, you can buy one license to run both the Mac and PC version for one price. You can make one catalog and easily pass it between a Mac and PC with no translation or confusion. This would be much easier than trying to make it work with iPhoto and some other Windows program.
If you were to go the iView route, you would have to "sync" the data back to the photos so that they carry your keyword etc. data with them to other apps. I don't know if iPhoto embeds that info back to the photos, or if it stays in the iPhoto database only.
Photoshop Elements 4 is great on Windows, but the Mac version of Elements does not include the cataloging feature because it integrates with iPhoto. I'm not sure how smooth that all works.

  • Running Service Manger RTM: import-scsminstance " cmdlet not recognized "

I have imported the SCSMLets module.
I am running it from the SCSM ISE shell.
    I'm using SCSM 2012 RTM.
I'm trying to run this command to pull in CSV data and use a CSV Format file to populate a class.
    Import-SCSMInstance -DataFileName ".\CSV_Data_Files\AdvantageLevelListPickerClass_CSVImport.csv" -FormatFileName ".\Format_Files\Accenture.SUS.CMDB.Library.AdvantageLevel_CSVImportFormat.xml"
    Alas, I get this error:

I noticed that you are spelling it SCSMLets. Looks to me that the cmdlet you want to use is a native SCSM 2012 cmdlet and not part of the SMLets package. So doing it like Anders recommends should ensure that you are setup correctly.
I suspect that if you load the smlets package first, then import the native cmdlets you can get an error like you are describing. If you need other cmdlets than the native ones I recommend you have a look at a project that is alive (unlike smlets):

  • DVD / Disc not recognized Equium A100

I've recently purchased an Equium Laptop with Vista installed. On my old pc (WXP) I backed up a lot of photos and files onto a DVD disc using nero, when I try to load these onto my laptop the disc is not recognized.
I have many files on other DVDs these are also not recognised, I wish to transfer these files onto my laptop. Can anybody help out with this?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi
As you probably not known, not every CD or DVD is compatible with every drive.
This means that sometimes the medium cannot be recognized and the drive cannot read or write on CD or DVD.
In my knowledge in the user manual you should find a list of compatible CD and DVD.
PS: I use the TDK CDs and TDK DVDs. Im very satisfied

  • External hard disc not recognized

I have been using a WD external hard disc with Time Machine. Today I had it plugged into a USB powered hub when the house electrical power briefly went off then on, twice. A message appeared stating that device was removed incorrectly (or words to that effect). Now the HD does not appear on the desktop. It is recognized in "about this computer" as a USB device. It is not recognized in disc utility and thus can not be mounted.
    All suggestions appreciated.

Answered my own question. Working now. Connected directly to computer USB and ignored it for a couple of hours and now it is visible on the desktop and appears to be working.

  • Imported photos do not appear as events

When I import photos into iPhoto, they appear in the Last Import file and they can be found in the photo library, but they do not appear as an event. What am I doing wrong?

    Sure they do
either the event sort is wrong (correct in the view menu ==> sort events) or the camera date is wrong (correct by selecting the photos and using the adjust time/date command)

  • CS5 -- Acrobat 9 Pro disc not recognized

PC, running Windows 7. I just installed CS5 Design Premium from the DVD and all seems to be well. Then I inserted the Acrobat 9 Pro disc. The drive spins for awhile, then I get a prompt to insert a disc (which is already inserted). Same thing happens when I insert the Content disc. Both discs are recognized on other PCs, and every other disc I have -- including the CS5 DP disc of course -- works fine in the same drive.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks, John

I hit the same problem except I had a Reader X installed not a pro version.  For me the solution was to really make sure that nothing else was running.  I followed the steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso2 the link is goofy so here is the pertinent text:
Programs that are currently running on your computer may be interfering with the installation processDisable programs that might be interfering with the installation process. To do this, follow these steps:

  • After Import photos are not visible in IPhoto

    I have a problem with IPhoto 8 (7.1.5)
When I import photos from either the Iphone or a Photo DVD the photos are first visible. After closing and restarting Iphoto, Iphoto tells me, that some photos are not in the liabrary and will be recovered.
Both, the imported photos as the recovered, are not visible. If I'm opening the library file, the photos are still there and I can look at them.
Do you know how I can fix it?
(Background information: My HD crashed and I've got a knew one, the restorage of the photos was successful the problem started afterwards)
    Thank you!

No. He problem is with the library. Re-installing the app will make no difference to that.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Dvd viewer disc not recognized

I insterted a disc into the drive to view a sunday school video. DVD player (apple icon)
put out a message that there was not a recognized disc (paraphrasing).
I tried to eject the disc but macbook pro won't eject the disc.
should I look for another app to locate & eject the disc?
This macbook is a year old with no previous problems with the disc drive.
Oh, all my softward gets updated regularly but I had some problems with Maverick
trying to update several times. I don't believe I have a hd screen, and Maverick
is having a problem with this.
Suggestions about how to eject the disc? Thanks

    Hey there MrsGart,
It sounds like your disk will not eject from the drive, and is causing an error about the disc not being a recognized format. If there is no DVD icon on the desktop to drag to the trash,  I would try this step from the article named:
If you can't eject a CD or DVD or open the drive tray
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2097
If that doesn't work, restart the computer, then hold down the mouse button or trackpad button while the computer is starting up, until the disc is ejected.
To restart, choose Restart from the Apple menu.
If you are unable to remove the disc from the drive please contact Apple, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Imported Photos when NOT connected to network drive is missing

I connect to external disk drive for my photos.
But when I wasn't connected to the drive, I imported photos just fine - was able to see them all (the just imported one). I could see "blank" thumbnails for the network photos (because I wasn't connected).
Next time I connected to the external drive, the photos i just imported, when I wasn't connected was missing?
    ANY HELP? PLEASE? THANKS.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
My guess is you have two libraries. One is on the external, has all the older pics, the other has the new additions.
To find the other, go to the Finder Go Menu -> Go to Folder and type in /Volumes/The Name of Your External HD...
Can you see the opther library there? If so, drag it to the desktop, and then use iPhoto Library Manager to merge the libraries.

  • "Importing photos" does not stop in iTunes

Couldn't find this mentioned.  I just tried to sync my iPhone 5 to my Mac, and it sticks on "Importing photos".  I've imported the photos already through iPhoto, and don't understand why this is happening and why it is literally doing it for hours.  I've stopped the sync and reset my phone, but no good.

    Try this,
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • Imported photos are not in sequence by the date

My photos imported are being inserted with photos that were taken several years ago.  IN other words, they are not at the bottom of the viewing area, but toward the top!!!

I did not state the problem very well.  My pictures I just imported, showed up at the bottom with the correct dates when I viewed them as "photos"; but when I choose to see Events; they show up with among other events from 2010 or 2009.  WHY?   This has happened with several imports in the last 2 weeks.
