Importing photos in a new folder on Elements 10

When I import photos straight from my SD card tp Elements 10 I have been naming a new folder for them but they are going into sub folders of the last file that I had open. How do I stop this & how do I make move the sub folders into a new folder of it's own. Thanks

Are you using Adobe Photo Downloader to download and import photographs from a SD card? Make sure that option 'Create SubFolder(s)' has value 'None'

The way I do it is through iTunes. First you have to have to import or already have the photos in your computer where you have iTunes and sync your phone. When you have your phone connected and iTunes open click on the iphone under "devices" in the left sidebar list - then over to the right select Photos then Sync Photos and probably best to check selected folders unless you want them all, then choose the photo folders you want. You have to have your photos in folders for multiple folders to be created in your phone, the names will be the same as the folders in your computer. Alternately you can sync from one of your photo programs if they are listed as options and they will go to the phone in the structure you have your photos in in that program.
Hope this helps... There may be other ways and other third-party programs for doing this but I haven't looked...

On Windows open the Organizer and from the menu click:
File >> Watch Folders
Then check the radio button for automatic.

Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. So downloading the latest Camera Raw didn't do anything at all for you. The only way to update or upgrade Lightroom is to obtain the latest version. If you have Lightroom 4 then the last version of Lightroom you can have at no additional cost is Lightroom 4.4.1. If the camera you are using requires anything newer than what is supported and that version of Lightroom then it will require an upgrade to Lightroom 5.

Which operating system are you running on?
How are you trying to open the photos?
- from windows explorer? - double licking or right clicking and selecting Open with?
- by loading the editor and go to File -> Open?
Looking back at your other threads you seem to have had this problem before - what keeps changing?

Moving Photos to a new folder in Lightroom 1.3.1 using Mac OS 10.5.1 Doesn't Work

I use an iMac with OS 10.5.1 and Lightroom 1.3.1.
First, I successfully imported the photos from my Epson P-2000 to a folder (Germany) which I created as part of the import into Lightroom (for File Handling in the Import dialog I used Copy Photos to a new location and Import).
Next, I created a new folder (Berlin) using the Lightroom folder panel and dragged some photos from the Germany folder into the new Berlin subfolder. Although the photos appear in the Berlin subfolder, they are still also in the parent, Germany folder.
Also, I would have thought that I could select photos and then use the Edit menu's Cut and Paste commands to move the photos. But even though I have selected images in the Grid view, these commands are grayed out.
I don't want to copy the photos - I want to move them. And I did not think that the same photo could be in two different folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you seeing this only in Lightroom? They are not 'still in the parent, Germany folder.' only visible their if you have 'Include Photos from Subitems' checked in the Menu/Library of Library.
Uncheck that you you will only see them in their correct folders.

How to add already imported photos from a specific folder (on a hard drive) into a LR collection?

Sorry if this is obvious, but I can't for the life of me figure it out…
I'm using Lightroom to organize images for a book project, importing each folder of images one at a time and placing them in collections to match the client's file structure. E.g.
* Book project
** Landscapes
** MISC
** Still life
** Travel
So far I have been importing each folder, then dragging all the images from the "Previous import" option into a new LR collection. Unfortunately, I imported a folder (MISC) and then imported another (Still life) without copying the MISC images into a new collection. Now I can't figure out how to get the images from MISC into their own LR collection. I can't re-import them because they're already in the LR library. I don't think I can remove and re-import them either…
Is there any way to do this without me going through my library and finding each individual image and moving it manually?? There are a lot of images so I fear that would take days!

I'm curious why you need to create collections that seem to have identical contents to a folder that you imported (or did I misunderstand you completely?)
There's no need to create a collection that has the identical contents to a folder, just use the folder! Creating a collection in this case is extra work that produces no benefit.
And in case I did misunderstand you

Go to the MISC folder in the Lightroom Folder Panel, select this folder, then select all photos (Ctrl/Cmd-A) and then drag them to the collection

Importing Photos From Photoshop Album To Photoshop Elements 9

I recently transfered about 14,000 photos from Adobe Photoshop Album into a new computer with Photoshop Elements 9 installed. In Photoshop Album, I often edited my photos and saved the originals. However, only the edited version appeared on the organizer screen. With Photoshop Elements installed, a thumbnail appeared for each Album-edited photo on the organizer screen as a version set with tags and photo description in place but no image. In most cases clicking on the black right-pointed arrow brings up another imageless box (to the right of the previous thumbnail) that is identical to the first one, tags and all. In a few other cases, the edited image appears to the right with tags. The latter isn't too bad since I can delete the original imageless thumbnail from the organizer.
I have tried importing a couple of files of photos from the new hard drive into the organizer. I get the original which is tagged and the edited photos untagged. I want to be able to bring up my edited photos when I use certain keyword tags rather than the originals so don't have to hunt for them in the organizer. At the same time, I want to avoid having to retag several thousand edited photos. Can anyone help. Thanks for reading this message.

I don't recommend using this software for anything other than
cataloging. If you want to move your images you should consider
Photoshop Elements because it is meant to perform this activity. PSA SE
is just a little cataloging applet that would get really confused if you
even tried it. You would have to completely redo your catalog.

Problem importing photos from iphone3G via Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0

I have adobe elements v7.0 and an iPhone 3g running the new release
iPhone OS.
When I connect the iPhone to upload the photos I have taken on it into
pe7 the import photos dialog box opens and then shows how many photos
are there to import. But each thumbnail is blank and I get an error
message that finally crashes pe7 without importing the photos.
The same thing happens if I have pe7 open and choose to import photos
choosing the iPhone as the attached device from the drop down list
This problem has started since I downloaded the new iPhone OS 3.0 - before then the import into Elements 7.0 worked fine

I, too, have experienced the same problem - but without full resolution. I chose to have PE7 automatically download the photos from the phone upon connection/syncing and have continued to experience the "fatal error" message. Even though I cancel the action when the "fatal error" show up (and the phone syncs without further problem), I believe that the conflict messes up something within the iPhone system. For the 5th time (and 3rd phone in 2 months), it appears that every time I try to use the camera shortly after receiving the "fatal" error problem, the phone ceases to work. It works just fine as long as I don't open the camera program. So - I am now trying to figure out how to get the computer(PC)/PE7 to not automatically download pictures upon connection and see if my suspicions are accurate. Any suggestions on that question are appreciated!

After several attempts, I now find that this is working for me. I wasn't able to open the IMPORT folder in Photos until I clicked on "Close" from File Menu. Once I was able to open the IMPORT folder and select the photos for import, the new photos appeared in "Last Import."

I am trying to rearrange my iPhoto 11 folders. Every time I move a photo to a new album it stays in the original folder. If I delete the photo it is gone from both the folder and the album I created. Is there a way to do this. I am trying to separate pictures taken on my iPhone.

First off since we can only communicate via words using the correct words is critical
Folders in iPhoto do not hold photos - folders hold albums or other folders
Albums hold photos
Events hold photos
Alnums and folders are used to organize photos
Alnums are really just pointers to photos in events so any change mad eto a photo in an event, in photo view or in any album it is in is reflected everywhere
If you want to move phots between albums simply drag them
If you want to move photos between events flag them in teh source event and teh select the destination event and add flagged photos to selected event

Don't do any of that. Just export the photos from iPhoto
File -> Export
to folders in the Finder. That's the supported way and has the added advantage that you can use the names you've given to your Events or Albums as well.

I can't add photos to a new folder.

When I try to drag images into a folder, the folder isn't selected. I've tried creating a new folder. Didn't work. Made the folder a subfolder of the project and a stand-alone folder. Still didn't work.... Help!

What do you want to achieve?
Folders are structural items to group projects, albums, books, slide shows.
You can drag images to other projects, to albums, to books, slideshows, but not to folders.
To move images to another folder, you move the project containing the images to that folder.
