Importing photos to fce on 2.8 alum imac

I am tring to find a better format to import photos from iphoto to fce hd. I was told by apple experts to make a new folder on the desk top and put the photos I want to use in the project in it then import that folder to the project in fce hd.This is fine except when I do it puts all the pictures on a new tab with all in a single file row going down on the left side. I have over 300 pictures and it tuff to veiw in this order. Is there a way to have them displayed using the hole area of the folder like when you open iphoto? Thanks for any help, Karl

Thanks Ian, I tried what you suggested but it did not work. Although it did put me in the right section. To get the veiw I wanted I went to view then to arrnge by name and the display was just like Iphoto. Thanks again, karl

  • Can't import photos from iPhone5s

I've never had a problem importing photos to my MacBook Pro or desktop iMac but I recently got a new iPhone (5s) and when I attached it to my MacBook nothing happened. I manually opened iPhoto and the iPhone appears under devidces but when I click on that it shows zero photos and import photos is not clickable.
Bit of a panic as my iphone is full and can't take anymore photos - it's Thanksgiving and family is on the way. Can anyone help me solve this?
Not sure if there is any other info that is helpful. I have not 'paired' this phone with a computer yet - I usually use my iMac as that is where my music library is - but that didn't get in the way of uploading photos from previous iphones.
    Thank you.
    Bob

You have to open iTunes, and then when asked wether you want to allow computer to access your iPhone, click Allow. And then a notification will pop up on your iPhone asking wether you want to trust the computer, tap Trust.
Revisit iPhoto / Aperture / Lightroom / whatever program you use to import the pics, and it will be enabled by now.

  • How to import photos from multiple iphoto libraries to iPad

How do I import photos from multiple iPhoto libraries from my iMac to the new iPad? I have 4 different iPhoto Libraries on my iMac.
I can import photos from  iPhoto library 1,  to the iPad, but when I import photos from iPhoto Library 2, created on my iMac to the iPad,
it deletes the original photos that I imported from the first iPhoto Library and replaces them with the import from library 2.
I only want to import selected photos from each library to my iPad. Can someone plese help me?

As Ralph has suggested, if you want to sync photos from your computer, you must include all photos that you want to sync - with each and every sync. You cannot import photos from another Main photo folder on the computer. You must create an all-in-one photo library in iPhoto and sync from that folder. You can select one level of sub folders from within that main folder, but all of those folders must be included in the main folder - in your case it is in iPhoto. That is just how the sync process works with Photos.
I don't know how using third party apps affects the photos that you have already synced from iPhoto, but take a look at these apps in this Google search. Maybe Wifi transfer is the way to go for you.

A 2009 iMac can't run Classic operating systems.  If you are running Mac OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, look at http://www.markspace.com/ software.
If you are running Mac OS X 10.9 or later, try adding the bluetooth menu and connecting to the phone to browse the device directly through Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Bluetooth.  Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find your operating system, and then pick the correct forum here:

  • Importing Photo's into imovie

Ello Everyone ... Having previously compiled 2 projects with photographs in imovie with no problems. I am now attempting a 3rd. However, when trying to import photo's from iphoto into imovie I find they wont go for some reason? I have around 90 photos on the project I want to create and all the pics are in iphoto, but only 10 show up in the imovie photo browser and not all 90 of them, why is this please? The 10 that do show in the browser are OK and will drag to my project. Why wont they all show though, they are all same format, size etc. Also, having read on here that you can drag photos from your pics folder in the finder options without going through the iphoto ... well this wont work for me either and only the 10 or so pics already in imovie will allow to be dragged, all others wont?
Hope you can understand this, as I confuse myself sometimes. Any help is greatly appreciated as I am new to MAC.
    Many thanks x

    • Put DVD in DVD-player and connect a miniDV tape Camera and copy
    • Or use a program that can back engineer to streamingDV that iMovie or FCE/P can use
I prefere Roxio Toast™ to do this

  • Importing iPhotos to FCE

I'm trying to import pictures from iPhotos and it seems like it's very laborous. It appears that I have to import each picture instead of importing a group of pictures on a file. Also, the folders are numbered instead having the roll name which makes it difficult for me to know which folder contains which pictures unless I click on each folder.
Does anyone know how to import iphotos into fce (ver 2) seemlessly?
    Thanks

I found what i believe the best solution to using iPhoto to organize the sequence of photos to be used in a FCE sequence. Create the album in iPhoto, organize them as you see fit, and then export the photos to a new folder that you can import into FCE browser. In iPhoto, click album name, then Share>Export>Original Size Format>Use Album Name/Extension. What this does is give new file names to the photos, and numbers then in the correct sequence. This corrects any duplicate file naming issues, helps organize the photos in the correct project, gives them new name, and numbers them properly, so when viewed in FCE browser, they can be sorted the way you want them to appear in your timeline. Only downside would be using up hard drive space.

  • IPhoto imports photos with wrong dates even if the dates are fine on the camera

    Hi!
When I import photos with iPhoto, sometimes it imports them with wrong dates, even the dates are fine on the camera. It puts dates such as 2032. Does anyone know how can I fix that. As far as I know there is no way to change dates of the photos.
    Thanks!

well that is very confusing since if the date is correct on the camera it will be correct in iPhoto
    and as to

Try looking through your iPhto menus - two commands - adjust time and date and batch change time and date - asjust is used to correct incorrect dates like a comera setting -   Batch change for missing dates like with scans

  • Import photos to Camera Roll

This there any way that I can import photos to Camera Roll? I've imported hundreads of photos from there before I restore my 3GS and I couldn't find any method to put them back afterwards... Thanks in advance!!

    Kahim wrote:
I tried to sync them back via iTunes but they are then not saved in Camera Roll, which was my initial question...but anyway, thanks for the reply.
Pictures are never imported to Camera Roll.  Camera Roll is only for temporary storage of pictures taken with the device.
Once the pictures have been copied off the device they can be synced back via iTunes but they will never appear in Camera Roll, they appear in folders instead.

If you have emmptied the iPhoto trash then you're going to need a file recovery application like File Salvage

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder, what happens if I delete the photo in Iphoto ? Will the original file in the folder be deleted too?

When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder to iphoto, what happens if:
    1. I delete that photo in iphoto? will the original file in the folder be deleted too ?
    2.  when importing, does the hard disk store 2 versions of the photo, hence occupying additional space in the harddisk?

1 - no  --  iPhoto only manages fiel within the iPhoto library - it does not ever do anything with files outside the library
2 - No idea what you are asking - by default (and strongly recommended) iPhoto copies the original to the iPhoto library and you delete the source file outside the iPhoto library - iPhoto alwasy has at least two versions of every photo and some times three - it always have the original, a thumbnail and once a photo is modified a preview - this is not optional - if it is not what you want then iPhoto is not the correct progrtam to be using for phopto management

My Olympic camera SD card doesn't fit into the SD card camera reader. Apple advised me to purchase the product in order to import photos to my IPad. How do I over ride this problem. How do I import photos from an Olympus FE-340 directly to my IPad?

Your camera uses an OLympic XD picture card http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-xD-Picture-Memory-202332-package/dp/B002LC2DQ4/ref =pd_sim_sbs_p_1 This card has different dimensions compared to an SD card.

  • When I try to connect my iPhone to my laptop to import photos and videos it says there are no files or folders under "Apple Iphone". My laptop recognises my phone and my camera roll has around 300 photos and videos but none of them come up on my laptop?

The memory on my Phone is really bad so i cant store much. The pictures i am trying to import are really important and i cant lose them. My phone has been playing up a lot and im afraid of losing the pictures so tried to import them onto my laptop. Its a windows 8 and every time i connect my iphone a window automatically opens titled "Apple iphone" but underneath it says "no files or folders". How can i resolve this?
Also the apple store have told me not updating may be causing problems but i cant update due to no space. i have 3 apps, around 300 photos/videos and no music. it is 16gb so i dont know why im having this problem

This is how you import photos/videos:

  • IPhoto crasht when importing photos and now it doesn't open anymore. Please help!

I was importing photos in iPhoto, when the program crasht. I tried to restart it, but it never opend. I installed it again and again and made a software update - still doesn't work. What can I do? Please help!

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
