Importing Photoshop layers in Flash

Hi,
I tried to import photoshop layers in flash.
But it is coming as bitmap.
Is there any way to bring the photoshop layers as shapes with good flash quality.
Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately I don't think this can be done - but maybe I am wrong. But I don't think there is a way.
Perhaps see if there's any options through scripting.

  • Importing Photoshop layered files to Motion

I'm having issues importing Photoshop layered files to Motion. When the file appears in the viewer, text or the shapes in the Photoshop file have changed colors. It's almost like motion doesn't recognize a gradient color in the text or shape. I've tried rasterizing the layer but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

hopefully above fixed that! not to hijack, but group layer labels don't seem to imported properly into apple products. is this due to the apple-adobe wars? i am anal so all my photoshop layers are grouped with some organization, but in motion it looks like a mess. thx,

  • Imported Photoshop Layers change in Motion after re-saving PSD file

Curious if anyone has seen this issue:
I have a multi-layered Photoshop CS drawing that I import (All Layers) into Motion to animate. No problem.
If I make a change to the original Photoshop PSD file, the Motion layers are updated incorrectly. The layers are swapped and their locations move. The only fix I have is to completely re-import the file and start from scratch.
I've also seen the Motion layers change slightly if I just save the PSD file again without changes. They are minor, but still apparent.
    Anyone, anyone?
    Dual 2GHz G5 : 3GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   FCP5

Lesson learned. Do you know, is the a problem only if PS and Motion are open at the same time?
I like the fact that Motion attempts to update, but the fact it does it wrong is a bummer. I suppose if this only happens when the two programs are open one could simply close motion, change one or two layers in photoshop, and import only those layer into Motion upon re-opening. Not a big deal.
I may try and see what happens... with a small project without a deadline...

  • Needed:  Script for importing Photoshop layers, converting to shape layers

I've uncovered what seems to be a "bug" in After Effects CS5.  When I import photoshop artwork in layers, and then try to apply effects to an individual layer, such as a color change, a drop shadow, or pretty much anything including puppets, when I later try to render the movie, it crashes.
My solution has been to laborously go through and convert any layer where I need to apply effects into an AE shape layer, copy the mask over, etc.  Its not much fun, but it does solve the bug.
I know this could be done with a script, but I don't have the chops or the time to write it.
Has anybody else written such a script?
    In essence, it needs to:
    1.  import a Photoshop file in layers.
    2.  select each layer in the file and
    3. create an AE layer
4.copy the mask from the PS layer and
    5. paste it onto the AE layer.
    6. keeping the same registration and
    7. keeping the color of the PS layer.
Easy, huh?  For somebody who knows what they're doing, which doesn't include me.....
    :<)McFrisco

Wouldn't it be just more efficient if you provided one of your crashing PSDs along with the AE project so we can check and verify? If you contact me off-forum I can assure you confidentiality and even provide you with an upload location. I even looked up your otehr threads, but I feel we never really reached a point where we could make out something definite, so rather than trying to fix things the hard way, it may make more sense to let someone take a look. This may be something trivial, after all and be perfectly fixable by doing something differently...

  • Editing imported Photoshop layer in Flash CS4?

Hi, When I import a Photoshop layer into Flash, for my flash movie, it doesn't matter whether I import it as a bitmapped image with editable styles, a flattened bitmap, or a Flash Layer, etc (I've tried every option,,,,,)
I can't edit it in the sense that I am unable to go in and take the eraser tool and erase a section of the scene on that layer that wasn't created in Flash. I can draw on it in Flash and modify it that way. I can effect it via tweens enlarge, alpha transparency etc. But I can't erase part of the graphic that I created outside of Flash in Photoshop.
I've tried erasing on the graphic itself, also after it's converted to a movie clip - inside the movie clip's timeline etc. It doesn't work. As I said , I can draw on it and effect it but I can't erase part of what was already in it before it was imported from PS4.
Is this a characteristic of Flash or am I doing something wrong?
Please let me know and thanks,
    Sarah

I think I've got it. The original graphic is a bitmap. So, I need to "break it apart" which converts it to vectors. Then I can "erase" from there. Probably, I'll end up doing this editing part in PS4.
Sorry everyone, I'm still new to this and as you can tell, still barely scratching the surface of Flash. If anyone wants to comment, please do so because I truly get lost in space and a heads up letting me know I'm going in the right direction would be great!
Believe it or not I have Flash books, I actually read them, and take courses via dvd. But I couldn't get anywhere close to completing my projects without the help I get from these forums.
    Thanks!

  • How to import photoshop layers into keynote 08

    Hi,
i am trying to import multilayer files from Photoshop into Keynote 08, where it is possible to move the separate layers like objects.
Can anybody give me a hint if this is possible?
For powerpoint there is a tool that is capable to do it. Is there anything like it?
    with regards
    Sandmann

    Thank you,
i was just wondering if there ia a tool capable of it. Found something for Powerpoint: http://www.pptxtreme.com/
but nothing for Keynote. Drag and Drop of multiple objects at the same time combindes them in Keynote to one.
    Thanks a lot

  • Importing Photoshop Layers

I am using 6.0 on Windows XP and am trying to import a Photoshop file that has 95 layers. Is there a way to import them all at once as their own layers or do I have to painstakingly import one layer at a time?
    Thanks, Steve

Do not know the exact limitations of Pr 6.0, but later will do this fine, though as Ann states, you'll be close to the limit on Video Tracks.
Now, what exactly do you wish to accomplish with this? Your comment to Ann confused me a bit.
Do you want to Import as a Sequence, where each Layer is on a separate Video Track for animation, or do you just want each Layer to come in as a separate Still Image? There is a big difference.
If the former, then Ann's comments will possibly work. Also, take your comments on resolution to heart. In later versions, the max resolution is 4000 pixels in the long dimension.
If the latter, then the best way to do this would be to Export from PS with Layers to individual images. Then, just Import those 95 images into Pr.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Importing Photoshop image into Flash without discoloration

Hello, I just put together a banner image in photoshop that I would like to import into Flash and put a small navigation menu at the bottom but whenever I use the import to stage feature I am getting a large amount of discoloration in the image.  I've tried saving it as a .tif and .png but both came out looking poor.  Attached is an image to show what I mean.  Anyone have a suggestion on this?

    >>One more thing when you created this graphic did you make sure to use web color only, rmember the web views I think only 246 colors (somenthing like that) so anything outside of gamut will go to the next best thing.<<
That isn't true at all. The web safe color palette had nothing to do with the limitation of the web and everything to do with the limitation of color monitors at the time it was proposed. At the time the color palette was proposed many displays could only display a maximum of 256 colors on screen simultaneously. The operating systems reserved about 20 colors each for their own use and that left 216 available color slots. Anything about that number that tried to display on screen at the same time would caouse color banding (what gifs images do to photos).
But that was along time ago.

  • TS3811 When importing Photoshop layers into a motion project

if I change position of some elements they are cropped to the bounding box of the first layer imported.  If I try to manipulate/animate elements outside this box they are cut off at the bounding box edge.

Layered PSD are set as fixed resolution when imported, this is why things are cropped. Select the group, go to the Inspector, Group Properties and turn off fixed resolution.

  • Import photoshop CS3 layers into Flash CS5?

Does anyone know if you can import photoshop layers from CS3 into Flash CS5? I am looking to get Flash CS5 for my Win 7 but am worried I won't be able to use it with all my CS3 photoshop work.  Has anyone had experience with this and can tell me one way or the other if it does or doesn't work.  I know CS5 has LOTS of backward compatibility problems.
    Thanks.

Yes, save the photoshop file as a .ps file and then import it in Flash. You will get pretty much the same import options window that you saw in Flash CS3.

  • Some Photoshop layers are offline in Premiere, while others -- from the same .PSD doc, are fine -- how to fix?

I have a simple animation in Premiere that uses imported Photoshop layers, fading each one on at a time over a moving background. Suddenly, today, after months of no problems, I'm seeing that SOME of the layers are offline, while the rest are linked properly. They are all from the same underlying .PSD file. But I can't seem to relink them. Any tips?

I have found in CS5.5 that if I imported a psd in layers, and then later changed one of the layers, I had to reimport and replace the files sometimes.  I haven't figured out why.

  • Blurry Photoshop layers

I'm experiencing a strange effect when importing Photoshop layered files into After Effects CS5.5.
The graphics on the layers are blurring or have heavy anti-aliasing applied.
    1. is a transparent png file of the layer that I exported from Photoshop and imported into AE.
    2. is the exact same layer/graphic but imported as part of a Photoshop composition.
Both versions have the exact same setting applied.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to resolve the issue?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Thanks for your replies.
@bogiesan That has no effect. When reloading the PSD I don't get the option of changing the 'layer options' value. And the PSD itself is perfectly crisp, it looks like it's the original import that is the issue.
@Andrew Yoole, Unfortunately that has no effect.
I've also tried replacing the photoshop layer version of the graphic with the png by holding the option key and dragging the png onto layer on the timeline. This also has no effect.
It seems the layers themselves are affected at import time when 'editable layer styles' is enabled.

  • Importing a layered photohop file into flash [CS3]

Hi there, new to the Forums here and for starters heres a
    good challenge for you.
I have a .psd file with a background image and 3 layers above
this. The 3 layers have numberous layer styles and settings applied
    to them.
    See Image >>
I have tried importing this psd into flash by converting the
top 3 layers into movie clips (and selecting keep layers editable
in the settings) when importing. (Think I found this on a tutorial
    from Computer Arts.)
While this does import the layers all the layers styles do
not seem to be displaying correctly as in the photoshop document.
I hope someone can give me a little guidance on this matter
as the resident flash guy in the media centre I work in wasnt able
    to help!
The .psd file is below hosted on mediafire if anyone wants to
    try it out.

How was the original art created? Was the original RGB or CMYK? What is the resolution of the Photoshop file? Flash only works well with RGB and 72 pixel per inch resolution. If your original art is not set this way, then Flash will attempt to convert it as it imports it. Flash uses the sRGB color space. You'll get the best color translation if your Photoshop file is using this color preference.

  • Photoshop "Shapes Layers" in flash

    Hi ,
    I’m using flash cs3 ,
When importing Photoshop file , all the “shape
layers” are being converted into a mask in flash , why is
that? And how can I turn all those “layer shapes” to a
    vector shape in flash?
    Thanks
    S

When you say "Then Fade out," it doesn't exactly sound like
    scrolling.
Does the user do something to make the text scroll up/down or
    does the text
merely scroll without user interaction and the fade out at
    its completion?

  • Importing Multi-Layered Photoshop CS2 files...

Hello again everyone. I trust you are all well.
I am currently constructing some tutorials for my Video Editing class and I am trying to demonstrate how to import and use Multi-layered Photoshop CS2 files inside Final Cut Express 2.0.3.
    Here is the problem:
My iBook is running Final Cut Express 2.0.3 but does not have Adobe Photoshop CS2 on it. My DELL PC is running Adobe Photoshop CS2 and I am creating my PSD's on that and then transfering those PSD's across to the iBook with either my USB stick or my iPod.
Now according to the Final Cut Express 2.0.3 Help file, "When you import a layered Photoshop File into Final Cut Express, the file becomes a sequence in your project".
However, when I import my PSD, that was created on my DELL in Photoshop CS2, into Final Cut Express 2.0.3, it does not import it as a sequence, but as a flattened still image.
Is this because I need to have Photoshop CS2 installed on my iBook for the PSD to be imported correctly as a sequence, retaining the layers, or is there a compatability issue with creating PSD's on a PC and then trying to import them into Final Cut Express 2.0.3?

Thanks for your quick reply Tom!
I had a feeling this might be the case after I did some more testing with Photoshop files created on a MAC. If I resave those PC Photoshop files on a Mac in Photoshop, they import correctly as a sequence into Final Cut Express.
    Thanks again for the advice!
