Importing Photoshop Layouts

Hey,
When I import a sliced photoshop document into dreamweaver it
works fine. But when I delete a Slice to make it an editable region
or to type text into the area or insert a flash object or anything,
it messes up the entire page. It shifts the slices to places they
shouldnt be. What can I do to fix this problem?

  • Sliced and imported photoshop layout into dreamweaver

First, I am a newbie to all of this web design stuff and
coding and dreamweaver. I wanted to create my first website so here
I am. I went through 2 different tutorials (youtube and on
lynda.com) I created a layout in photoshop and I also sliced it. I
imported it into dreamweaver (CS3 by the way).....I somewhat
understand what I am doing. I did all the defining a site and I
clicked on the content box that I sliced and deleted it and
inserted a div / added the image that go there, then I made that
area editable. The layout I imported I saved it as a
template.Anyway, so basically I am clicking on each sliced area,
deleting it, and inserting a div there. No problem. Now, the sliced
areas that has about, home, contact, etc.....those I needed to make
as links/clickable images. So, before performing the delete then
inserting a div part.....I first clicked on the sliced area then at
the bottom of the screen, where it says link, I did a point to
file, basically linked it. Now, when I preview it in the browser,
it displays boxes around the sliced navigation menu, which it is
nit suppose to. see here is a screen shot...
    http://i36.tinypic.com/2eowewm.jpg
What did I do wrong? Why is it showing up in a table when I
didn't create it in a table? How can I remove that purple looking
    table border?
Also, when I go to each of the sliced navigation menu, then
delete it and insert a div..... the image there...it will not let
me turn it into a link.
How do I turn my sliced navigation menu images into links. I
know I am doing something wrong but just don't know what it is. Is
there a code I can use or am I suppose to modify or insert
something? and how do I remove the box from around it?
What is an easy way? Is there a tutorial out there?
I want my layout to look like what I mocked up in photoshop.
Is there a way I can create the same layout in dreamweaver? The
problem isn't the background, it's trying to get the pink area in
the center of the lalayout. I didn't know how to do that so thats
why I tried the way of creating it in photoshop.
    Please help

Regardless of what these tutorials lead you to believe, it is
    the WRONG
approach. Read this to get some perspective -

  • How do I embed an iframe into a Photoshop layout?

The Photoshop layout for a client's web page has been converted into HTML and imported into Dreamweaver. When I insert the iframe coding, the box either goes directly above or below the entire layout.

You don't.  Photoshop is for images and design comps only.  You can't use that code in real web sites.  Why?  Because graphics apps generate code that is rigid & inflexible. As soon as you try to edit anything in that layout, it falls apart and produces unsightly gaps.   Use PS for images only.  Use DW to create your web pages' HTML & CSS code.

  • Why the White Lines around imported Photoshop Images

Working in CS6, importing native Photoshop images into an Illustrator gradient.  Certain imported Photoshop images, with transparent background, produce white lines bordering the images.   The white lines stand out against the AI gradient.  The whites lines are not visable on screen.  They came out in the commercially printed product.  The overall AI document, with PS images placed and linked, was save to a PDF.  It was then printed from the PDF. The PDF, as viewed on screen, does not show the white lines either.  Why and how do the white border lines (the box surrounding the image) appear?

First I would recommend making sure there are indeed »no pixels« there in Photoshop – applying the Layer Style Stroke can help locate stray, semitransparent pixels.
Other than that I am afraid your print service provider may not have provided optimal output.
What print process was employed anyway?
It looks like flattening effects, but those should simply not be visible in print.
They happen when exporting X1 or X3 pdfs, which disallow transparency, so in creating the pdf the psd files that have transparency are flattened with whatever background and often broken up into smaller parts.
That way a whole mess of fragmentary images can be created, as one can see when one opens such a pdf in Illustrator.
One can avoid that by creating X4 pdfs, which do allow transparency, but if those can be processed by the printer is another question.
But this issue might be more suitable to the Illustrator or pdf Fora.

  • Import photoshop CS3 layers into Flash CS5?

Does anyone know if you can import photoshop layers from CS3 into Flash CS5? I am looking to get Flash CS5 for my Win 7 but am worried I won't be able to use it with all my CS3 photoshop work.  Has anyone had experience with this and can tell me one way or the other if it does or doesn't work.  I know CS5 has LOTS of backward compatibility problems.
    Thanks.

Yes, save the photoshop file as a .ps file and then import it in Flash. You will get pretty much the same import options window that you saw in Flash CS3.

  • RH 11 Imported Screen Layout Not Displaying in Gallery

Began using a trial of RH11 today and am experimenting with Responsive HTML5. I am trying to understand how to use a newly downloaded/imported screen layout while setting up a new single source Responsive HTML5 layout. I downloaded the screen layout from the Adobe site, which was a single file in a zip file. I unzipped the layout file to the same download folder and imported the extracted file into the Screen Layouts folder in the Project Set-up pod within RH11.  Then while working in the Responsive HTML5 Settings window, clicked Gallery and expected to see the newly imported layout as an option there. The layout does not display. The layout name does display under the Screen Layouts folder folder in Project Set-up though.
How do I get the layout to display in the Gallery? I am wondering if I extracted the layout file to the wrong location? Does it have to be extracted to a folder within my project files such as the SSL folder or within the folder to which the RH11 trial software was installed? I assumed the Import process in Project Set-up would copy the layout file to wherever it was needed for it to work in Robohelp.
4/3 addition to original post -- adding a picture for reference regarding where I can't get the new layout to show. WIthout it showing here, how would I go about assigning the layout to my single source layout?
    Message was edited by: KFarrelly

Thank you William. After following those steps, I was able to apply a newly downloaded .slz to my desired Responsive HTML5 single source layout.
While I am still not successful in getting the new screen layout to show in the gallery (in window accessed from B below), I was able to see the new screen layout in the Select drop-down list of the Responsive HTML Settings window -- thus mission acomplished! I made my selection from that list to get the desired, new screen layout applied to my project. Thanks so much!

  • Importing Photoshop layers in Flash

    Hi,
I tried to import photoshop layers in flash.
But it is coming as bitmap.
Is there any way to bring the photoshop layers as shapes with good flash quality.
    Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately I don't think this can be done - but maybe I am wrong. But I don't think there is a way.
Perhaps see if there's any options through scripting.

  • Importing Photoshop RAW images into Aperture

When I import Photoshop RAW images that I have made adjustments to, into my Aperture library, they show up as the original RAW files and not with my adjustments. Is there a way to get the RAW adjustments imported as well.
The only reason I need to import them into Aperture is to post them in a web gallery. Or is there a way to create a ME web gallery directly from Photoshop files? How about creating a ME web gallery directly from Lightroom? Anybody have a clue?)
(Btw, in attemtpting to research this topic, I find I am totally unable to do a search of the discussions. Even with a search word like "Aperture", I get no messages. Not matter what search word I enter I get no messages found. ???)
    Thanks!
    Jim

    Thanks for the reply Allen.
I am saving them all as TIFFS now. I was just trying to avoid that time-consuming step. I do not really need them as TIFFS right now. It is to show edited RAW files to a client. Later, when selections are made, I would save that much smaller number of images as TIFFS. But it seems that there is no other way to import the RAW files with the edits into Aperture.
I used to create all of my web albums for clients in PS. But once I got a .mac account, I love and prefer the look of the .mac web galleries. But of course that necessitated importing all my PS files into either iPhoto (not an option) or Aperture. But can these PS web galleries be exported to a .mac web gallery?
    Thanks!

  • Importing Photoshop Files

I'm attemting to import photoshop files into a Motion project as I have done in the past. But now, for some reason, when I do so now, instead of my image I get a graphic imported that is all white and has the text "This layered Photoshop file was not saved with a composite image" in about six different languages. I've tried flattening the image first, but that doesn't seem to help.
I would appreciate any help with this if anyone else has been able to overcome it. I'm running Motion 2.0.1 on a G5 with 2GB RAM.
    Thanks.

    josh,
did you ever find a solution to this issue of yours? i just encountered it and it's caused by a preference setting in photoshop meant to maximize file compatibility. i opened the same layered .psd in after effects with no issue which wasn't surprising. searched here and saw your post. then, which i should have done immediately, i searched the photoshop manual and found the solution. search is always my friend.
    from the photoshop manual:
--To maximize compatibility with previous versions of Photoshop and with other applications (Photoshop):
    Do one of the following:
In Windows, choose Edit > Preferences > File Handling.
In Mac OS, choose Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling.
Choose Always from the Maximize PSD File Compatibility menu. This saves a composite (flattened) image along with the layers of your document.

  • Importing Photoshop layered files to Motion

I'm having issues importing Photoshop layered files to Motion. When the file appears in the viewer, text or the shapes in the Photoshop file have changed colors. It's almost like motion doesn't recognize a gradient color in the text or shape. I've tried rasterizing the layer but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

hopefully above fixed that! not to hijack, but group layer labels don't seem to imported properly into apple products. is this due to the apple-adobe wars? i am anal so all my photoshop layers are grouped with some organization, but in motion it looks like a mess. thx,

  • Needed:  Script for importing Photoshop layers, converting to shape layers

I've uncovered what seems to be a "bug" in After Effects CS5.  When I import photoshop artwork in layers, and then try to apply effects to an individual layer, such as a color change, a drop shadow, or pretty much anything including puppets, when I later try to render the movie, it crashes.
My solution has been to laborously go through and convert any layer where I need to apply effects into an AE shape layer, copy the mask over, etc.  Its not much fun, but it does solve the bug.
I know this could be done with a script, but I don't have the chops or the time to write it.
Has anybody else written such a script?
    In essence, it needs to:
    1.  import a Photoshop file in layers.
    2.  select each layer in the file and
    3. create an AE layer
4.copy the mask from the PS layer and
    5. paste it onto the AE layer.
    6. keeping the same registration and
    7. keeping the color of the PS layer.
Easy, huh?  For somebody who knows what they're doing, which doesn't include me.....
    :<)McFrisco

Wouldn't it be just more efficient if you provided one of your crashing PSDs along with the AE project so we can check and verify? If you contact me off-forum I can assure you confidentiality and even provide you with an upload location. I even looked up your otehr threads, but I feel we never really reached a point where we could make out something definite, so rather than trying to fix things the hard way, it may make more sense to let someone take a look. This may be something trivial, after all and be perfectly fixable by doing something differently...

How can I import Photoshop-Shortcuts from CC into the CC 2014 update? Migration and Sync didn't help. What am I doing wrong? The .kys is also in the same folder as in the previous version of PS CC.

If you had Illustrator you could take advantage of smart objects.
Has been awhile since I worked in Corel (so do not remeber if Corel had clipboard settings whcih need adjusuting), but do remember copying a path, getting that into Phothshop as shape layer for part of the artowrk in a trade show poster.

  • Bounding Boxes (Importing Photoshop to After Effects)

Hey, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question and it seems like (hopefully) it's a one click easy fix but here goes.
When I import Photoshop files into After Effects the bounding boxes around the orignal grouped layers are the size of the project itself. To clarify the pre-existing layer "groups" in Photoshop that were converted to "compositions" in After Effects upon importing, all have bounding boxes that extend out to the dimensions of the entire project. When I click into the composition the layers have bounding boxes that mold to the layer size. I need the group/composition bounding box to extend to only the dimensions of the subsequent layers not the entire project. When I was using After Effects CS6 it reduced the bouding box of my group/compositions to the minimalist possible extent automatically. Now that I've been forced over to After Effects CC (on account that I use creative cloud) the bounding boxes are no longer conforming to the groups in the same manner.
I of course can find away around this by merging the groups and what not but I don't want to have to do that and I'm hoping there a little freaking check box or something that I'm not aware of. I don't know if this matters but I am using Windows 7 64bit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah this problem never got officially resolved. For some reason they changed this in CC version of After Effects but as you said it was never like that in previous versions (at least it wasn't in CS6).
There are a couple of 'work-around' options for this problem but as I'm no expert I couldn't say whether these 'options' are the best way to handle this problem or not, just the best that I can come up with in my relatively limited experience and there are pros and cons to each... It also depends on what type of project you're working on. Anyway:
    1) Go into your composition/group in After Effects and use the "Crop Region of Interest" function. This will readjust the bounding box to that composition but you'll need to resituate your composition so that it's in the right place as cropping the region of interest stupidly seems to moves it.
    2) Create Null Objects and parent one of them to each moving composition. Situate all Null Object layers above your composition layers so each one is clickable
    3) Create a special "group" in the Photoshop file you're working in and -copy- all of the layers in that Photoshop file into the new group that you just created. Merge all of the layers together that are meant to be a single moving object in After Effects. This will leave your original layers intact and when you import the PSD file into After Effects you'll have the merged layers you need that will automatically have appropriate bounding boxes.
