Importing PPTX

Hello.
Maybe I'm doing this backwards, but I'm trying to import PPTX files (PowerPoint) into an existing Captivate project. Then, when it comes in, I clearly need to rescale the PowerPoints, or, what I'd really like to do is resize the PowerPoint to only take up a certain amount of screen space.
is there any way to do that?
Maybe I should ask the real question which is this: for some reason, the client wanted to put slide text animations into the PowerPoint, and up to this point to import slides I've been creating JPEGs and importing those, which has worked perfectly well.....until now. How should I go about making the transitions work?
Most of them are just fade ups, which I can obviously easily do in Captivate, but some of them fly across the screen...
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
It can be difficult to understand fully a question... My work flow would be totally different, but I'm hooked to Captivate
I would import the static slides as images into CP and do the necessary work there, never try to compress images myself (do use Photoshop a lot and import the original source files) since Cp takes care of that when publishing and you have control over the degree of compression. And I would like to have the largest possible resolution in PPT for different reasons to have the best quality.
What I was trying to explain about the PPT-slides with animation that you want to insert: create a small CP-project in a resolution that is smaller than the final one, the resolution you want it to have when it will be in the final file. Then, rescale this to the final size to give you real estate where to put extra objects, information. That is why I pointed to the blog post about Knockout master slides for the rescaling technique because you will probably have to match it with the other slides where you imported static PPT-images. Then you copy those rescaled slides to the original project.
When I was talking about less possibilities for editing FMR (trimming, cutting is possible like in video), it doesn't mean that you can not add other objects on top of them once you have the slide: everything is possible, active and interactive objects, audio,... It is the FMR-object itself that has not so much editing possibilities in Cp. If you want good quality for the FMR I would certainly recommend setting the quality to 32-bit instead of the default 1-bit.
Really hoping that this explanation can help you, that I did understand the issue now?

  • Import pptx with movable objects?

I was wondering if there was a way to import a pptx file that will still allow me to move and play with the objects (such as add interactions/motion/fade). Is there any way to do this? I know that you can import pptx with "High Fidelity"....
Captivate states it provides "Native support for pptx. All objects used in presentation, including Smart Art and animation will be included"
I choose High Fidelty but am not able to move objects.
Am I understanding this worng or doing something wrong?????
    Please help.
Thank you Captivate experts, you have been my saviour in more than one occasion!
    -Sabrina

    OK I see...
So I see what your saying, but it really doesn't help me much. Who would have Captivate and not PowerPoint (rhetorical)?
I get it though, PowerPoint is Microsoft and Captivate is Adobe... They dont want to encourage microsoft products too much
Thanks for the input you really helped out a lot...doesn't make my life easier but answerd my lingering question!!!
    Thanks again!

  • Unable to import pptx or other docs in to my iPhone & iPad

I'have bad experience to import pptx, excel on my iPhone & iPad, I've got this problem before and after IOS upgrade to 6.0.1, I've tried usig iTunes, Dropbox or sending the docs as attach on the e-mail, when key notes are at 99% of the importing table, it crash.
    Does anybody can help me?
    Tks in advance
    Andrea

I tried them but they did not work for me.  The loading symbol kept spinning until it timed out. Plus it also stalled my connection.
The problem goes just beyond YouTube videos.  I'm still unable to watch videos embedded in websites, such as the tutorials on apple.com.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

  • Can't import pptx presentation

Help! I'm trying to record a new project, using 'Other' and
'Import from Microsoft PowerPoint', but when I do that I get an
error sayings "Can't open ppt file". I've got Microsoft 2007 and it
saves all pwrpte files as pptx. How can I import/convert that?
    Thanks
    Bev

    Hi Bev
I'm guessing you are using Captivate 3? If so, I'm not sure
it understands the PPTX file type. While I'm not PowerPoint user, I
do believe that unlike Captivate, it is able to save its content in
older versions of the format. So you probably have an ability to
    save as PPT.
Assuming that were to fail also, you could always configure
PowerPoint to play the slide show in a window, then position
Captivate to record the presentation as you play it, just as you
    would record a software demonstration.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Why does my audio not play from an imported pptx slide +

I created a slide with Images, animations and audio in PowerPoint (2010) and then imported into Captivate 7 as a single slide*.  When I publish the slide into an swf file and play, the follows issues occur:
One of the images does not display as contained in the pptx file - it does however show in the swf file in the same dimensions in alight wood grain image (like pine).  This image is in one corner of the slide.  The image below is that corner...!
The audio does not play when the swf is played. No audio content is shown in the library list
Also, the program I wish to insert the slides into requires individual slides - not whole presentations (it is not SCORM compliant).  What is the quickest way of publishing a multi-slide presentation into individual .swf slides?

reinstall the movie, something crazy may have happened during the download, reinstalling it should fix the problem

  • Importing pptx files into keynote

My friend sent me a pptx file from power point. How can I import this file into Keynote?

    Welcome to the forum!
Easy. Open KN, when it's open, open (Command-O) the PP doc with KN. Voila! One catch: Imported into KN, which is what you just did, the doc may look or behave differently than it did in PP; the same is true the other way around.

    Hi,

  • No Slide Progression in Captivate 7 From PPTX

After importing a PPTX file into Captivate 7 it does not progress (from the very start) like it does in the PowerPoint slide show.)  Is this a PowerPoint setting preventing it?  All Captivate slides are No Action and Go to the Next Slide and this even happens if No Action is changed to Continue.  When published and going with the forward button in Captivate you come to a black screen.

    Hello ,
Please check the option of High Fidelity at the time of importing pptx and also change the Advance slide to Automatically and then check again .
    Thanks and Regards

  • I cannot open a Powerpoint presentation in Captivate 8.  Any ideas as to why?

I cannot open a Powerpoint presentation in Captivate 8.  I'm following the directions to double-click on the "From Powerpoint" icon to start a project.  I can double-click on a PP project, but then I get a message "Unable to import.  File may be damaged."  I know my files are fine.  Any ideas as to why I cannot open?

I realize this was a few months back. But I had this problem and exchanged numerous emails with support, with NO resolution.
I was running Windows 8.1 and Captivate 8 (64 bit).
Finally (and I should've tried this much earlier on) I decided to uninstall 64-bit Captivate and try 32-bit.
Voila. Problem solved. 32-bit imports .pptx files perfectly.
Hope this might be helpful for anyone else encountering this.

  • Captivate 6--closed captioning not advancing

I have been converting files from Captivate 5.5 to Captivate 6 and assumed the closed captioning was advancing.  I had no difficulty in 5.5 with the closed captioning advancing.  In the converted files, the first closed caption appears and remains despite the voice advancing.  I have had no difficulty in the past with closed captioning.  I have ensured the appropriate boxes are checked for closed captioning and that the markers are placed where the closed captioning should change.  I am not using any click boxes or anything exotic.  I just import pptx files, use text to voice conversion, and then move the markers to where the closed captioning should advance to match the change in voices (I use a different voice for each caption).  Some screen shots are:
I am having to convert my files in Captivate 6 since the pdf's are no longer readable with the updates to Adobe Reader.  However, now my students can no longer view the closed captioning unless I save as just one caption per slide.  SInce I have a distance undergraduate course currently underway and another starting this Fall, I would greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.  Thanks.

Gotcha -- basically the old non-technical method.

  • How to create hyperlink within HTML using PPTX for import .

    Hi ,
I am using PPTX to publish HTML5 - using Captivate 8.0
Hyper-linking is working in PPTX but not working in HTML .
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Amit

Captivate is not a PPTX- converter to HTML5, that is a wrong perception. If you only want a presentation, why not use a plugin for PPT, there are a lot around:
When a ppt is imported, each slide is converted to a 'movie' slide in Captivate, it will keep all animations but that is it. Objects do not have a separate timeline. If you want to use the real power of Captivate - an eLearning authoring tool, not a presentation tool like ppt - you'll have to use the ppt-assets, create Captivate-slides with them and then add interactivity like buttons, hyperlinks etc.

What errors, specifically, are you receiving? It should indeed work, so let's figure this out.
Meanwhile, have you tried the basic fix-its, like updating the flash player, restarting the browser, restarting the computer?
