Importing problem-iCal won't recognize .csv files

I've recently upgraded to 10.4.9 from 10.3.9 on my Power PC iMac G5. The old version of iCal had no problem seeing downloaded .csv files and importing them. The new version won't see them or import them. Under 10.3.9, all I had to do was double click on the downloaded .csv file and it would import all events into iCal. Now, nothing happens. I'm a basic user and don't know about scripting or anything else. Any help?

YES! SUCCESS!
I found two ways of doing this. After searching the net, I found this online app on this guys website that worked the best:
http://manas.tungare.name/projects/yahoo2ical/
It says it's a "yahoo" csv converter, but it worked fine for my outlook csv file.
The other option is, if you have an account with google, like a gmail account, you can use their google calendar to import your csv file. Once you've done that, you can subscribe to that calendar you imported via the "share" option. Just get the .ics address. This took a couple tries on google's site to import, but it worked.

  • Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type while importing from Canon 5d Mark iii

Anyone mind helping me trouble shoot why my Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type of my Canon 5D Mark iii ?
I have seen this in a couple other threads but none of those suggestions worked for me. I am also a Mac user.

    The above contradicts with this:

I am downloading images through the Canon EOS Utility manager and have to import the photos in a folder into Lightroom.
So my reading of that is that you ARE importing Raw files from the 5D3 into Lightroom, but having to use a roundabout route to do so. Is that correct? If so, how are you trying to import when you "cannot import raw files into Lightroom", are you using a card reader or direct camera attachment? Have you tried both methods? And what happens when you do try?

  • ITunes Suddenly Won't Recognize Music Files

I have synced my iPod with my Toshiba laptop more times than I can count. When I opened iTunes this morning, iTunes did not show any of my music/podcasts, etc. After a moment of panic, I realized that everything was still on my computer and in my iPod, but it is as if this was a brand new version of iTunes. iTunes also "sses" my iPod, but will not let me change anything. I seem to recall accepting an automatic upgrade of iTunes recently (is this what I get for not using Safari?) but I think I have used iTunes since then. What gives? Do I need to reconstruct my library in iTunes? If so, will I lose my Playlists? Did the upgrade cause this problem?
    Message was edited by: ChefDad

yes i can play them with other players. i've tried 6.0.1 still the same problem. i had cleared my library, files kept of course, and just added my music folder to the library. they were all there before. i think it won't recognize cds that i've imported using musicmatch and itunes in the past. does anyone know why? thanks

  • Itunes library too large and won't recognize all files, just new ones but

still shows the old ones and their location in the library. I was keeping the library on the 2TB external drive. It got too large. Now I want to put the music on one of the 1TB drives and just the videos on the 2TB drive. From my PC, I can watch everything.
I cannot download to an iPod or iTouch anything from the 2TB drive. When I hit max capacity, I temporarily started saving on one of my internal 2TB drives (space wh*re, I know)before I hit on what my solution would be, and now I can only download from that location. Why?
What can I do? I even tried switching the library location back, and it won't recognize anything. I'm screwed, and I have all this material... YEARS of collecting...
    Someone please help me...

To clarify, currently on the 2TB external drive are music and videos. I want to split them up and hopefully save some space - and maybe foresee problems in the future when I hit max capacity on the 1TB external, and think about a 4GB (not the best option I see at this time) or another 2 2TB drives.
Doesn't the Library file just save locations when iTunes closes down so everything should be OK? I mean, the prog can recognize everything, it just won't download to anything, even if I move from the external drive an older movie to the new drive, it refuses to "see" the movie so I can download it.

  • IMovie won't recognize certain 'File extensions' ??

    Hi,
can anyone help here. I use Handbrake to compress Movie files before I use Quicktime to 'export to web' option, then import to iMovie to then edit before submitting ti iTunes ( keeps the size down but still have good quality ). Anyway even though the files from Handbrake have either a .mov or .m4v extension iMovie won't recognize them, but if I then use QT export to web ( which in turn makes a folder with the new files inside ) which have the .m4v, iMovie will see it !!
    Any ideas please.
The compressed file under Handbrake is small but good quality ( 2.3Gb down to 178Mb ) but if I use QT it then becomes even bigger ( 539Mb ) !!!!!
    Steve

I'm new to Handbrake so could you tell me what do you mean by 'Don't include extraneous data tracks' ?
Most people use HandBrake to convert DVD content (usually multiplexed M2V video and AC3 audio) to iPhone, iPod, TV, iTunes/Front Row files for viewing and/or iMovie '08 compatible files for editing. Since DVD content usually contains chapter data and the default setting for Apple device presets like TV normally default to include the chapter track data and (in older versions) may default to include an extra AC3 "passthrough" audio track, the output from such conversions are not supported by iMovie '08. If this is true, then re-exporting the content as you described would remove the extraneous data and explain why the files are incompatible with iMovie '08 before export and compatible after.
However, you have not confirmed that the incoming files are, in fact, stored on DVDs or indicated which specific settings are being used for your HandBrake conversions. iMovie '08 is only "edit" compatible with files containing DV, AIC, Motion-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, and certain profiles of MPEG-4 or H,264 video compressed data. So there is always a secondary possibility here that you are selecting an incompatible form of output form HandBrake and then using the "Export for Web" option to accidentally convert the incompatible compression format to a compatible one since this option exports to H.264/AAC by default.
If you have a much better way of doing this I am all ears especially if it makes my life easier, I am on a steep learning curve here ( sending video podcasts to iTunes but in good quality ).
The normal approach would be to select the iPod preset within HandBrake (or within QT Pro, GarageBand, MPEG Streamclip, etc. if the source file is QT compatible) and convert directly to an iMovie '08 compatible file. The iPod preset would create a file equivalent to the "Desktop" (1500 Kbps) file created by the "Export for Web..." option but, as previously mentioned may contain a "chapter" track if you fail to turn it off. If you want a smaller output file, then all you have to do is reduce the target data rate in HandBrake. If you are currently editing the equivalent of the iPhone file (900 Kbps) using your current work flow, then reduce the target average bit rate to 900 or 1000 Kbps before exporting from HandBrake. Basically, this approach is faster since you do not have to export the data twice. On the other hand, it is a bit more complicated since you have to manually ensure any extraneous data tracks are de-selected and that the correct compressing preset/settings are selected.

  • Quicktime won't recognize MOV files?

QT won't open MOV files, and gives a -2048 error that says it is not a file it recognizes. I know other people who are able to open the same files fine on their Mac computers, so I don't think it's a problem with the file...

The -2048 error message usually means the file is MPEG-2 format.
QuickTime can't view MPEG-2 without additional software ($20).

  • Rescue and Recovery won't recognize backup files.

I have backup files on a usb drive, an ultrabay drive and the main hard drive and it won't recognize any of them. Anyone else have this problem?
    -M

    manusoft, welcome to the forum,
attach the usb drive and then check it's recognised in BIOS. While you're in BIOS ensure that you optical drive is set as first boot device and place the boot disc you created in the optical drive. Save your settings and restart.
The system will boot to the R&R on the disc and in theory you should be able to then install the image.
Consideration; on the systems you move this image to the service partions will probably be no longer functional. I say probably as I've never done this with W7.
    Hope this helps

  • Dreamweaver won't recognize some file extensions

I recently switched from using Dreamweaver CS6 on a PC to using it on a Mac. The problem is some of the files I need to work with end in .yaml but Dreamweaver won't let me open those files. I read I need to add the extension to the Extensions.txt file located in Dreamweaver CS6 > Configuration. However, while I've added "YAML," to the beginning of the section ending in "...:All Documents", added a "YAML: Djando Files" line to the file, saved the .txt file, and quit and restarted Dreamweaver, it still won't recognize the extension.
    Thoughts?
    Chris

Did you add it to the "Open in Code View" section in preferences?

  • Import Export of contacts via ASCII CSV file

Hi all. I have a 9300 Curve. This is my phone. I had a workphone which was a 9900 Bold. I backed up the Bold when i left the job. I want to import the contacts from the Bold back up into the Curve. If i export the Curve contacts to a csv file. Then import the bold contacts from restoring just the contacts list.... so far ok, bold contacts in, curve contacts overwritten but they are in a file as csv. I then try to one way sync the curve contacts back in.....the csv file has removed all the zeros from the start of every number. If you "edit" the csv in notepad they are there but when you look via excel...they are not. If i sync back in....the zero's are gone. I do not want to sync with windows live or anything like that as it will import a whole heap of **bleep** i dont want as well.
    Any clues?
    Thanks

  • IPod full but now won't recognize any files; how to fix without "restore"?

My iPod mini suddenly won't recognize any of my files or extensive playlists. I just uploaded several songs to it, and when I disconnected and tried to play it, it suddenly showed as completely empty, like I'd deleted everything. I plugged it back in, and while nothing shows up in iTunes with - no songs, no playlists - it says it's still nearly full.
Reading another thread, I found the files on the iPod through My Computer. So they are still there, but for whatever reason the iPod, literally suddenly, can't recognize them as present. How do I fic this WITHOUT having to restore the iPod and then re-add those files (and recreate all of my playlists?)
    Please, please help!

  • Separator problem after opening a exported CSV file in Excel

    Dear experts,
After exporting a report to .CSV file from BEX browser, I opened this file with Excel. I found that "," is considered as separator, but not ";" which is by default the separator in CSV file exported.
For example, when i open the CSV in Notepad, i have:
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value, date, time"
When it is opened in Excel, I have
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"(Column A)
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value(Column A) date(Column B)    time"(Column C)
Is that a problem in Excel configuration? How to solve it (for example, set ; as separator)?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Please try opening your .csv file in excel. I am assuming that all texts are in one column. Select this column, go to Data>Text to Columns. Set the checkbox to Delimited. Click on next. Set the delimeter to ; and the text qualifier to ". Click on next. Click on finish. Then save in another filename. Try opening this new .csv file in notepad and see if it has the format you needed.
    Hope this helps,

How would I code a link in source code so that I can link to a file on a local server? The standard "file://path" or label or label constructs are recognized by IE but not Firefox. Is there a coding that most browsers will recognize? (File is located on an office server.)
