Importing project from ..... Ulead Media Studio Pro

Hi there,
I made a project in Ulead MEdia Studio Pro 7 (really, I did....), and I'm not satisfied with the results : the video is like a computer animated movie, and I see horizontal lines.
I'm told my Canopus Raptor RT doesn't work properly with Ulead, so I switched to Adobe Premiere 7 Pro.
Is there a possibillity to import the project (a whole day work....) into Adobe Premiere, or is that impossible.
Further : what would be the right settings for this 16:9 movie (PAL) to MAKE the final movie ? It is all digitally mastered, so I want a perfect result.....
Regards,
Marco

GLenn,
Good work, and there will be something extra in your Adobe payroll envelope.
The problem with the PrPro 1.5 to CS5 Mac, is that there was no PrPro 1.5 Mac version. With older Pr versions, say 6.5, there is not a platform limitation. Older (pre Pro) Mac Projects work fine in my PC. With the Pro introduction, PrPro 1.0/Pr 7.0/PrPro 7.0 (rather an anomaly), Mac support was stopped, until CS3. This created a gap, with ONLY PC versions, and no Mac compatibility. As Harm and GLenn pointed out, the only workflow is to take the older PRPROJ file (created on a PC), and Improt/Open - Save (essentially Converting it) in version CS3 on the PC, and that will allow a Mac to use the PRPROJ file.
This is when it pays to have friends on PC's, running PrPRo, so that they can do the Conversion for you. Baring that, then it's great to have folk, like GLenn, on the forum, who will do it for you. It's simple, so long as there is a PC, running CS3, or later, to get those Projects into a format/version, that the Mac can read. Time for some "bi-partisan" cooperation.
Glad that you got it to work, and happy editing.
Hunt
PS - one little caveat: There are differences in the Effects & Transitions, between the platforms, so a Project that was created in PrPro 1.5 (or 1.0, or 2.0), might have Effects, or Transitions, that do not exist on the Mac. Also, if one had 3rd party Effects or Transitions on the older PC, then those might show as missing, when the Project Opens on the Mac. In most cases, PrPro is very good at pointing out the exact location, and more details, where those appear. One can then just make note of the location, and go there to replace the missing Effect, or Transition, with one that does exist on the Mac. For me, going from Mac to PC, this process has been perfect, but I cannot say that it would be in all cases going from PC to Mac.

  • Creating DVD Chapters from within DVD studio Pro

    Hey,
Is this possible? Can we create DVD chapters from within DVD Studio Pro?
    Chris

Yes, you can add chapter markers in the DVDSP timeline, although they are not frame accurate as they are in FCP. You'll typically get them within about half a second as they can only sit on a 'GOP' boundary, and these occur roughly every 15 frames equivalent.
To add a marker you move the playhead to where you want it and type the 'm' key, pretty much as in FCP.
The chapter marker then defines the start of a chapter for playback. You can manipulate the navigation such that only one chapter plays before you go back to the menu, or you can start at a marker and continue onwards. You can even create lists of markers that are not in track order and have playback jump about between them, although it's not always wise to do so!

  • WebDynpro Problem - Importing Project from tutorials

I am trying to gothru the tutorial Accessing ABAP Functions in Web Dynpro (4).
I have downloaded and unzipped the zip file 4TutWD_FlightList.zip
When I try and Import a project,
It finds the Project TutWD_FlightList_init, I am able to select the project, but then I recieve a error
    "Errors importing Projects
      Error message: Invalid project description.
I have tried other project tutorials off SDN and get the same error.

    Luciano,
I have tried the File>Import>Import Project from File System>
I am able to get the project created but none of the other structure is being built. The application, controller, views and window are all missing. I have tried to  rebuild the project and I have tried to repair the project. No errors but no project structure either. I was a little confused by your suggestion to extract and then extract again. I have no files in the   TutWD_FlightList_init.zip  to extract again.
Also in the directory structure I have the files for the project such as...
    project --> ProjectProperties.wdproperties
    application --> FlightListApp.wdapplication
    resultview-->  ResultView.wdview , ResultView.wdview.xlf
    controllers --> SearchView.wdcontroller
Any other suggestion would be appreciated,

  • How to migrate projects from sun one studio 5

    hi,
can anybody tell me how to migrate existing projects from sun one studio 5 to sun java studio 8 projects?
    regards
    guenther

    Hi,
It has been a while since I have had access to sun one studio 5. If I remember correctly, it was based on Netbeans 3.5.1. It turns out the Sun Java Studio Enterprise 7 release was based on Netbeans 3.6. Both of these Netbeans versions used mounted filesystems rather than the new project system. There is a migration guide from JSE 7 to JSE 8 available:
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jsenterprise/reference/techart/jse8/intro_migration_jse8.html
I think this migration guide will apply to your situation as well.
Let me know if this helps.
    Thanks,
    George

  • Import project from iMovie 10.0.1 in the Final Cat Pro X 10.0.9

How can I import a project from iMovie 10.0.1 in the Final Cat Pro X 10.0.9?
If the file before the project was in the ' Movies ' folder, now there is no such file. There's only ' Library iMove ', but no file that can be moved in the Final Cat Pro.

Thanks for your confirmation!  It seems to me this is the situation after tons of research.....
I really don't understand Apple's logic/philosophy now.... in the new iMovie... it takes out the keywords which is extremely important to anyone with many clips.  I don't mind to pay for the expensive FCPX but I am told that FCPX cannot migrate the iMovie library..... sigh....... what **** they are thinking....
BTW, it seems the "Send project to Final Cut Pro" function doesn't support sending even the "Event". It supports only sending project with the clips associated with the project.  There is no way to send the clip without associated to project.  Anyone can confirm it?

  • Considering the jump from iDVD to Studio pro, business critical. new user

Hi all, I will make this as short and concise as possible. I create DVD's for marketing leave behinds for restaurants, properties, etc. I have a wide range of consumers using a variety of different computers and DVD players playing the disks... and these are my most often complaints and problems I need to resolve, it is business critical, as my companies name and reputation are on the product. Thank you in advance for any help and suggestions.
    1. Can I easily bring in movies that I saved and rendered under the "Share" function to the media browser in imovie into DVD Studio pro, without recoding etc, just like I bring the movies into iDVD?
    2. MANY times the disks are recoginzed in a PC or a Mac as Video TS and Audio TS files and not as a movie(not autolaunching the DVD PlayeR)... I burn directly from iDVD, and have also tried saving as a Video TS, and burning in Toast under the Create Video DVD (I think its called UDF or something). Will DVD studio pro be more effective at the computer and more recent DVD players just playing the movie, instead of sometimes thinking it is a Data DVD. It is very frustrating, especially that even the mac gets confused and either recognizes it as DATA, or starts playing the movie in the middle.
    3. Autoletterboxing is very important to me, as I want the movies to play on full screen TVS with the bars on top and bottom, or on Widescreen TV's with little bars or no bars at all. My biggest problem is with iDVD even in widescreen setting, if the end user at home never set up their DVD player that it is hooked up to a widescreen, it automatically goes into Pan and Scan mode, which really confuses my client. Or vice versa I have used "My DVD Edit" to do auto letterbox, and it causes an opposite effect sometimes stretching and distorting the image on widescreens.
Any tips etc to make my discs perform as close to a traditional movie you would rent at your local video store (and the most compatible settings) would be greatly appreciated. I thank you all, and understand this is a lot to ask of someone for this much help.
I use Verbatim DVD-R's, and have tried varying my burn speed as well. I have my entire business riding on this, and my movies are very simple to produce, but they don't do anyone any good if they don't play.
    Thank you!

You're either exaggerating or you're completely off your nut. Your business is based on price, service, and the quality of your products. The promotional piece you leave behind is nothing but a shiny piece of plastic. As Shawn has pointed out, there are only so many things you can expect to learn how to control when producing DVDs and one thing that is totally out of your reach is what your prospects do with your disks.
You will want a good inkjet printer and a huge bulk supply of printable disks. A mutiple disk burner pays for itself within a few days if you are making five to ten copies of any single title.
Before you jump, buy and read carefully the two or three books that are all about DVDSP4. If you know someone who has the FCP Studio suite, buy them dinner and a bottle of wine and ask them to show you how DVDSP4 works. The suite comes with a complete tutorial resource disk for DVDSP4.

  • Importing IMovie File into DVD Studio Pro 4

I used to be able to import the index file from an IMovie project into DVD Studio Pro quite happily.
Today the application freezes on the import progress window, with no files appearing in the asset window.
I have to force quit the application to get out of it.
Can anyone advise how to resolve this issue ?
    Power Mac G5 - Dual 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

If you haven't changed anything on your system, then it would appear that you have one of two things.
Most likely, your preference files have be come corrupt, or second, your Application or application resource file for DVD SP have become damaged.
Try first to toss your DVD SP preferences, if this doesn't do it, then you should uninstall DVD SP and then reinstall with all of the updates before trying again.
If you have tried creating a new project from scratch and the problem persists, then read on.
If that doesn't do it, then there's a very slight possiblility, that there may be an issue with the QucikTime files of the OS, and keep in mind, (this is a very remote possibility) you may have to wipe the drive and reinstall the OS and apps. from the original disks, but only after everything else fails, (THIS IS A DRASTIC LAST DITCH EFFORT.)

  • Can't Import MP4 Files Into DVD Studio Pro

I'm trying to start a DVD Studio Pro 4 project, and have .mp4 video files. When I import them with the Assets>Import tab, they come in as MP4 audio files only, not movie files. The users manual says the integrated encouder auto encodes Quick Time assets into DVD compliant formats with default Compressor settings ... but that is not happening. The MP4s play fine when I double click and open them in Quick Time Player, or post them on line they work fine in a browser. I'm confused, how do I import them to work in DVD Studio Pro? BTW, I did not create them in FCP, nor do I know how to use Compressor yet. I have MPEG Stream Clip but don't know how it would help. Thanks, Tom, Miami.

Use compressor to convert them to m2v and ac3 files before bringing them into DVDSP.

  • Importing MPEG2's causes DVD studio pro 4 to crash

everytime I attempt to import an mpeg 2 into a studio pro project it crashes the program however other files like quicktimes, AIFF etc. import fine. I have tried trashing preferences and re-installing DVD studio pro to no avail. pls help!

Did you get to the latest pro app file?
If so, go into your library/receipts folder, and delete the proapp package in there, then re-run the installer for the latest file to make sure it gets installed fully.
Latest version for you is here:

  • Problems Importing Complete Video in DVD Studio Pro

I have video that I edited in Final Cut Pro and exported as a QuickTime file (.mov), with chapter markers. I checked the video in QuickTime player and all my chapter markers were present, and the entire video played through the end. The whole movie is 52 minutes in length. However, two problems have arisen once the video was imported into DVD Studio Pro.
    1. All my chapter markers disappeared.
    2. The entire audio track is present and will play through the end of the movie, but the video cuts off more than 6 minutes before the end of the movie.
I have tried several options to get this video to import correctly. Sometimes the chapter markers remain, but I can never get the video track to import completely. I would greatly appreciate any advice, as this has become very frustrating. Thank you.

Since my last post, I have tried importing a couple different versions of the video file. One attempt included chopping the video file into 2 parts and exporting them two separate .mov files from FCP. I then tried to insert them into the track editor as separate entities that played back-to-back. This led me to the discovery that DVDSP will not let me have a video track that plays any longer than 00:45:58:21. Why this is, I do not know, but I am convinced this problem lies within DVDSP, not in the video file. Is there a setting somewhere that limits the length of a video?

  • Need Help Import Project from Adobe Premiere CS6 TO FCPX

Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to export a project from Adobe Premiere CS6 to FCPX.
    Many Thanks,
    Mat

I am trying to transfer a movie project I made on my work computer (MacBook Pro, iMovie '08) to my home computer (iMovie HD, iBook). I've transferred the files using a Lacie, but when I open iMovie HD on my personal computer, it does not let me open the project I desire.
As you have already found, iMovie '08 projects, as such, are not backwards compatible with previous versions of iMovie. iMovie '08's project basically consists of a list of instructions detailing how a project is to be exported while previous versions of iMovie actually rendered physical file segments ordered properly in a physical timeline reference file.
I can import, but not the whole file, it keeps putting items in the trash. I have exported Mobile, Medium, and Large files.
Basically you have two options. You can either import your raw footage (the Event clips) and "re-create" a project in iMovie HD or export your iMovie '08 project, complete with edits to an HD compatible format (e.g., DV or AIC/AIFF) and import this file into iMovie HD. Unfortunately, this latter approach will not allow you to "manipulate" your previous edits.
Basically, I want to be able to open the file in iMovie, in case I wanted to duplicate it or edit it.
As indicated above, you can import iMovie '08 shared/exported files to iMovie HD but you then have to edit them as source files. To remove a previous edit, you would literally have to delete it from your new project in order to add another.
I also want to be able to continue burning copies of this movie slideshow to DVD (I created a DVD project using iDVD).
Previously authored and burned DVDs can be copy-burned by applications like Toast or used to create stored "image" files that can be used to burn new DVDs on an as needed basis in the Mac OS "Burn" folder or using the Disk Utility application. In fact the "image" file can also be created for this purpose from within iDVD.

  • Chapter Markers from Compressor to Studio Pro

I am tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to get the chapter Markers imported to Studio Pro when I compress my work in Compressor. I realize that they can be added after the fact in the Sudio Pro Timeline but it is a cumbersome process. My prefernce is to stay away from Qiucktime for Exporting as I have had better succes with Compressor. Any experts with Ideas?

    Some ideas from a no-expert.
Did you exported your movie from FCP with Chapter Markers? File > Export > QuickTime Movie and select Markers > DVD Studio Pro Markers
If you did, you'll see the markers in Compressor preview. Those Markers must be in your final MPEG2 encoded video and DVDSP must see them.
Post your workflow if that don't that way for you.
