Importing .psd into Premiere Pro CC 2014

I am trying to import a Photoshop file (.psd) into Premiere Pro CC 2014.  I've watched all these tutorials and they make it look so easy using Import > Adobe Photoshop file and then it appears in the source monitor--it seems to be the same as well on their tutorials.  However, my .psd file which needs to have white font and does in Photoshop comes up as different color (black) and is much smaller.  I am doing this in a 4K sequence, I understand the dimension aspect, but when I try to import I set as Single Layers and it doesn't matter--black font again.  Is there something I am doing wrong in PS or PP or both?  I would really appreciate your feedback because I'm in a rut and nothing seems to work.  The Photoshop file is one that was preloaded for this band but it just does not import correctly.  Any other options for getting a Photoshop file into Premiere Pro CC 2014 or AE.  I also tried this in CS6 and was hoping to just copy and paste into CC 2014.  I can't believe it is this hard.  I must be doing something wrong especially since everyone else seems to do it so easy.  Thanks for you help.

  • Importing psd into premiere pro cs4 failure

I am running an xp 64bit comp with the master suite, when i try to import a simple psd file into premiere i get an error message stating unsupported format or damaged file. Also another problem I am having is importing mp4's, it simply doesnt happen. It is all on a fresh brand new machine which might be missing codecs or something like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
    Adam

Yes, CMYK (can affect TIFF's too) has tripped up many. As much of my work is for print, I hit that early on, and scratched my head, until I grabbed the RGB version (usually give clients both), and viola, it worked.
Another similar tripping point is 16/32-bit PSD's. If one works with Camera RAW, they often leave the files in a higher bit-depth, for better color, Levels and Curves editing, but forget to drop this to 8-bit for Video. All of my Actions include the Mode changes, just in case they are not already in the correct Mode.
Good luck, and glad that things are working.

PS - there have been some reports of PSD Importing failing, though all else is good, when one, or more Layers, contain only a very small pixel count. This often happens when one has a very small "logo," or similar in a much larger PSD. I've not hit this, but many have. One fix is to separate out the logo, and Import it a bit larger, then Scaling in PrPro. Personally, where possible, I like to keep the Scaling to an absolute minimum in PrPro, and do as much as is possible in PS.

  • CS4 I have created compositions in After Effects CS 4 but when I import them into Premiere Pro CS4

CS4 I have created compositions in After Effects CS 4 but when I import them into Premiere Pro CS4 they only appear in the monitor when the play button is activated. The other clips appear without a problem. I noticed that the same situation arises when I dynamically link to Encore CS4. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you Ann. But the problem is when switched on the AE clips on the timeline are only viewable when I start the project (ie press the space bar) and as it also doesn’t appear in Encore I am afraid to spend a great deal of time creating a DVD with these clips not appearing. Any advice?
    Regards and again many thanks

  • How can I make title screens in either Illustrator or Photoshop and import them into Premiere Pro?

I'm having trouble finding the identical aspect ratio to import either an Illustrator or Photoshop title screen into Premiere Pro. There are so many ratios to choose from with Premiere Pro that I've about lost my mind. I was able to import Photoshop title screens into iMovie with no problem. I'll be importing the finished video into my YouTube channel. I want it to be widescreen but have no clue which ratio to use. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I always start with New Image in Photoshop, and then choose a Video Preset, that matches my PrPro Sequence. I use one with Guides. I usually choose to create that New Image with a Transparent Background.
Once complete, I just do a Save_As to PSD, which will be Imported into PrPro. If you have Ps Layers, you have two choices on Import: you can Import as Footage, which will Flatten your Layers, or you can Import as a Sequence to keep the Layers separate. Depending on what I will be doing, I might select one, or the other. If you Import as a Sequence, you can then animate each Layer individually.
    Good luck,

  • Can't import MTS with Premiere Pro CC (2014)

I have the problem with Premiere Pro CC (2014) and Media Encoder CC (2014) ! "Compression of media is not supported" (or something like that, it's in german...)
In After Effects CC (2014) and Prelude CC (2014) there is no problem importing these files.
MTS from a Panasonic HC-V550, files from a AVCHD folder structure, 1080p 50 fps.
I did already a project with theses file in Premiere Pro CC a few month ago!

    Hi Das Modular,
Move the media to another directory, drive, or merely change the name of the folder where your media resides. You should be able to import the files after that.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Importing files into Premiere Pro from DVD

Using the CS3 Version of Premiere Pro...
Ok on my DVD recorder I have a load of recorded programs, I'm now trying to import them on to my computer and then edit them on Premiere Pro. Now I can't even play these files, well I can't seem to play any videos from DVDs. (I think I need to download something in able for me to do it, that's a different issue but if anyone could help me with that I would be grateful too. The message that comes up for it is "Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings".)
Okay anyway to the real issue, these files are not able to be imported into Premiere Pro as they are not the right format.
Ok on the disc it has two folders, "VIDEO_RM" & "VIDEO_TS".
In the "VIDEO_RM" folder, they are all under the same name as the folder but one is a BUP file, one is a IFO file and the other a DAT file. The DAT file is the one that is the biggest size, the other two being 32kb.
In the "VIDEO_TS" folder, there is a "VIDEO_TS" BUP file, a "VIDEO_TS" IFO file, a "VIDEO_TS" VOB file, a "VTS_01_0" BUP file, a "VTS_01_0" IFO file, a "VTS_01_1" VOB file, a "VTS_01_2" VOB file and a "VTS_01_3" VOB file. The VOB files are the bigger files.
Ok if you aren't lost by now or haven't given up on me, what do I do now? I can't get these into my Premiere Pro project, I've heard stuff saying I need to convert it but all these convertion programs are complicated or I need to pay to be able to convert it or convert it with some text over it.
Is there a way of importing these files into Premiere Pro through a different method than normal, or do I have to convert them? If so does anyone reccomend any programs.
I'll appreciate any help and feedback given. I've been trying to work this out for the last few months trying to create a project for my Dad for Christmas but only now I've plucked up the courage to ask.
    Thanks,
    Andrew Mountier

  • Missing audio track when importing video into Premiere Pro CS3

When I import my M2TS video into the editor there is no audio when viewed in the source.  There is also no audio track when I drag a clip down to the timeline.  Any fix for this?

I have the same problem with M2TS files in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. The audio track is there - Adobe Premiere just doesn't recognize it. If you open the same clip in Nero Showtime, Corel Ulead VideoStudio, etc., the audio will be there. The audio is probably multiplexed.
I have been recording High Definition TV using the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212. About 15-20 % of the M2TS files recorded will be seen as video only clips by Adobe Premiere. The remaining clips will be conformed by Premiere and you will have a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. If you convert the video only clips to .MP4 and then re-import them into Premiere you will then have the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track back and you're good to go.
I use either Xilisoft or Arcsoft media converters to change to .MP4 files. If you use Arcsoft you will have to render the clip. The files converted by Xilisoft don't have to be rendered for playback.

  • Imported dvd into premiere pro 2014 as a linked file with audio and video but audio from previous editing file is playing with video

I am editing in premiere pro 2014 on a windows 8.1 system with 12 mega byes of ram.  I imported a dvd into premiere from a .f4v that was
    burned using freemakevideo converter.
I imported the DVD into premiere and the audio that is playing is from an previous project I edited with the program, as oppose
to, the audio that is linked with the video imported.
Do you know why this is?  I cleaned my media cache and I rebooted my machine.
    Please help

Without knowing the specs of your videos it is hard to say. I'm also running a Mac and am having no such issues.
My first thought is that you have something from a 3rd party installed that is causing conflicts. If all else fails try transcoding your mp4 files to a frame based codec using the Adobe Media Encoder. Pick one of the Apple production codecs or Jpeg compressed QuickTime.
Are you running a ram preview? Did you render your Premiere timeline? Are you new to AE?

  • Porblems importing Canon C300 footage into Premiere Pro CC 2014: only import 30 seconds

Hi! I'm having problems importing Canon C300 footage into Adobe Premiere Pro 2014. I'm taking the files directly from the media browser to I can only import the first 30 seconds of each clip.
Why can be that? Do I need a specific plugin?

Since you did not perform the copy process yourself, my thinking is that maybe something went wrong when it was done.  Far too many people don't understand or follow the process that works.
My recommendation would be to get your hands on the cards and do it again, making sure to use only Explorer or Finder for the task.

  • Image sequence of jpegs import into Premiere Pro CC 2014 out of sync!

Ever since I left CS6 to CC 2014, image sequences as jpeg files do not properly import into Premiere in sync anymore.  I use Blender 3d to export render scenes as jpegs then convert them to h.264 mpeg4 video clips in Premiere.  What happens is that the images upload into Premiere's project tab out of order, even though they are correctly ordered in my hard drive.  Improper naming conventions are probably ruled out since their files extensions are _000 types, and I never had a problem importing sequences in CS6 anyways.  Still image default duration is set to 1 in the general preferences.  Does anyone know what is suggest?  Thanks.

Good point, I am importing as separate jpegs each set to one frame, so it's not an image sequence as I thought.
My indeterminate media timebase and sequence are the same (29.97fps), though I have to say that even if they were different I don't see why that would be a problem.
Here is a screen shot of my images just after uploading them into the project tab, it is seen from first to last that file numbers appear out of order such as 066, 054, 072, 058...ect:
Is there anything else I could try?

  • Problem importing canon c300 mxf files into Premiere Pro CC 2014

I recently shot some footage with a c300 at 24fps, slog2, 2 audio chanels. I copied the "contents" folder of each cf card to my macbook pro hard drive by dragging across in finder.
When I search from within Premiere Pro's media browser for my files, they show up only as VLC icons, and when I click to import them, I get an error message along the lines of 'unsupported format or damaged file".
I can double click the files in finder and they open in VLC fine.
I'm running the latest version of Prem Pro, Yosemite on my macbook pro which has 2.8ghz i-7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB graphic card.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

You could try to convert your XAVC MXF files into MPEG, then load them again , but the new codec may not be well handled by some converters.

  • Cannot import PSD into Premiere

I've been unable to import a .psd into PPro CS4 for Mac - it just hangs on the 'import layered file' dialogue box without showing me any options (i.e.- choosing between importing a single layer or the merged layer). I can iport a jpeg and a tiff but that doesn't give me the transparency I need. This has not been an issue in any other version of Premiere, is it a problem with CS4 or the Mac? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Have you tried other .psd files?  Is the problem that .psd files won't import no matter which .psd file is used?

  • How Important are ICC Profiles when Importing Stills into Premiere Pro?

    Hello,
I came across the following troubling language in a review of one of Steven Hullfish's books on Color Correction:
"I also felt as though the author neglected to give ICC profiles enough attention.
Granted, they are seldom used in pure video workflows, but there are an awful lot of folks out there compositing still images into video content who need to know how to soft-proof against the right destination space in Photoshop so they aren't surprised by the color shifts they see in their ICC-unaware video software. Surely that should merit a pull-quote of its own somewhere."
My photos have been saved in PhotoShop in the ProRes color space.  Is this going to cause unpredictablility in how my colors look when shown on a 30 foot screen?
Is Premiere Pro a type of what this author describes as "ICC-unaware" video software?
If so, what steps should I be taking?
    Thanks,
    Matt Dubuque, 100 Trees

Premiere Pro does not use ICC color profiles at all. Photoshop and After Effects do.
When you are working with non-color-managed applications, it's especially important that you preview your work and check your output on the same sort of device on which your audience will be viewing it.

  • Importing WMV into Premiere Pro CS3

When importing some wmv-files into Premiere only the audio-part imports. No video.
    Other wmv-files imports without problems.
The problem seems to occur only with files converted (from mov?) to wmv on Mac-systems.

    Henrik,
I'd do a conversion of the WMV's to DV-AVI Type II outside of PP. Import the converted files and you *should* be able to edit them. Quality will likely have taken a hit, but as you do not have the original files, that is the best you can do.
Always request that your client, or whomever, furnishes you with a DV-AVI Type II in the future.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
