Importing Quiz Preferences

Hello,
We are working on a project that has many Captivate projects.  I am trying to change the quiz preferences in the Captivate projects.  I do this by changing the quiz preferences then exporting the preferences to a CPR file.  Then, I import the CPR file into another Captivate project.
The problem is that not all of the preferences are being imported.   I enabled reporting for the project.  That setting seems to import into other projects.  However, I also changed options such as:
Slide View Completion percentage
Under Settings, the Required selection
Under Pass or Fail, allow user Infinite attempts
None of these preferences are being imported into the new project.
Any ideas on how to do this?  (Besides manually changing over 100 project files.)
We are using Captivate 4 and Windows XP.
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,
The options which you have mentioned are purposefully not exported and then consequently imported. If you want these options to be a part of preference options export/import workflow then I would advise you to submit an enhancement request.
But you try this workaround:
1. Open project 1 which has your quiz settings, which you want to apply on all the projects.
2. Import all the slides of project 2 in project 1.
3. Delete the slides of project 1 and save the project.

  • Importing Quiz Questions

    I'm trying to find a way to reuse some questions in my course for inclusion in a Final Quiz, without having to reinput all of the questions.
    I made a copy of my course and imported the questions I wanted for my Final Quiz. I didn't think I could use these, as they had the same interaction ID as the questions in my course. Is there a way around having to reinput questions from my course I want to include in a Final Quiz without retyping all and have my scoring work property when reporting to LMS?
    Thanks very much.
    Susan

    Yes, you can change them, just make sure they are unique within the quiz. They are auto generated to keep them from being repeated.
    Usually I've seen the quiz import tool create new unique interaction id's for questions. The only time I have seen the interaction ID repeated is if you use the copy/paste function to recreate the quiz slides. However, it has been a while since I used the import quiz tool.
    The cat-on-keyboard method is one trick I have seen used to keep the id's random.

  • Change Captivate 3 Quiz Preferences

    Because we do not yet use an LMS, we always use the same quiz preferences in our modules. Can I change something in captivate 3 to make the quiz preferences come in by default to the one setup that actually works for us?

    Open up a new project and set all your settings to your liking. Then save the "blank" project as "standardTemplate" or whatever and use that as a basis for all your new projects. That way your settings will always be the same.
    When I used Captivate 3 I had a standard template project, which contained my settings and the buttons I use in my projects. I just opened that up - saved it with the new project name and then I was ready to start.

  • Exporting and importing Plugin Preferences

    Hi,
    I have created a plugin (LensTagger) that has internal presets and would like to create an export-import functionality to it. All the presets are saved in the Lightroom preference file like this:
    op_Presets = {
                        LensNameValue = {
                                  aperturevalue = "FST",
                                  focal35 = "FL35",
                                  focallength = "FL",
                                  maxaperture = "AP",
                        ["Some Lens"] = {
                                  aperturevalue = "3.5",
                                  focal35 = "15",
                                  focallength = "7.5",
                                  lensmodel = "Some Lens",
                                  maxaperture = "3.5",
    Preferabley they would be exported as csv or text file, so they are easily editable. My goal is to create Lens databases based on vendors so users can impory the Nikon database for instance. Is there an easy way of doing this? I have looked around, but it seems noone has ever done something like this and I am a somewhat unexperienced lua developer. Any hints will be appreciated.
    cheers,
    dirk

    I deleted when I realized I may have not read closely enough - one can serialize lua simply enough if that's what you want.
    Do an internet search for "Rob Cole's Lightroom Plugins", pick one, and download, then find LuaText.lua module in 'System' folder of 'Framework' folder.
    See :serialize method.
    dofile will deserialize.

  • Import DNG preference not working

    I have set the import extension as dng to auto import as dng from a Canon 40D. Doesn't happen and after I import I have to convert the raw to dng. Is there anything I need to do in addition to setting the preference?
    Jay Gould

    The import extension is only a naming preference, either 'dng' or 'DNG'. It does not guarantee that an import will convert to dng. You still have to ensure that you convert to dng within the import dialog.

    Please elaborate Mylenium - copy them to which folder, the presets currently live in 'After Effects CC' > 'User Presets' folder, there are previous folders for earlier After Effects versions but no folder specific for the latest CC 2014 version.

  • Import dialog preference - can't turn off

    When I insert a memory card or thumb-drive the import dialog appears. I have gone to edit preferences to change this setting more than a dozen times, yet next time it happens again and the preference has been checked again. I had a hard drive crash so I had to reinstall all my software (Vista 32bit and Lightroom 2). Prior to the crash I didn't have this problem. I don't know whether to blame Microsoft or Adobe. Has anybody else experienced this problem? Any clues as to how I can shut it off *permanently*?
    Thanks,
    Carey

    This problem comes up over and over again, but Adobe just ignores it.  It's bad enough installing the uploader without asking you.  It's worse that it sometimes (always?) gets uploaded by Photoshop end Elements so you can have 3 versions on your system.  But the icing on the cake is you can't make it work the way you want it to.  It's about time Adobe woke up and listened to their customers.  (Bring back RawShooter!)

  • Controlling an AS3 Captivate swf from Flex -- set quiz preferences

    Hi All,
    I'm able to use the SWFLoader to load the a Captivate.swf, and play it using the nextSlide, previousSlide etc.  However I am being blocked by the quizzes.
    I have access to all the rd* and cp* symbols.   I would like to navigate through all the slides, but if I have a quiz, I am blocked from 'rdcmndNextSlide'  or setting 'rdcmndGotoSlide'  past the quiz.  Does anyone know if this can be done?  Please help!

    DaddyDog,
    Have you checked your Quiz Settings in preferences for your Cp4 project?  There are two options to allow backward movement and to allow reviewing of the quiz.  You may want to try adjusting these.
    When you say you've been successful using the "nextSlide, previousSlide etc.", do you mean the buttons on the Cp playbar?
    One trick that has helped me greatly is obtaining and modifying the movie xml.  The movie xml is generated at runtime and defines the slides, slide objects, quiz settings, quiz slides... etc.  You may want to examine this to see if you can manipulate it to your advantage.  Here's how I can reference it from an AS3 Cp4 widget:
    var mainmov:MovieClip = MovieClip(root);
    var movXML:XML = new XML(mainmov.movieXML);
    Not sure how you have your Flex app loading the captivate swf, but I'm sure you could figure out how to reference the movieXML from another parent in your app.

  • What are the most important system preference files to have backed up?

    This isn't specifically a Time Machine question but since it pertains to backup I thought it would be best here. In addition to backing up my entire system to an external HD using Time Machine I'm also planning to back-up critical files to an online service (Mozy) in case I should have a break-in or fire or something like that and not be able to recover either my laptop or my external HD.
    I've started to identify some of the files I'd like to back up such as the encrypted database where my passwords are stored (Wallet) but I'm wondering what some of the other things I should back up are. What are the files that would contain important data that I wouldn't want to lose or would help get in me up and running more quickly?

    Hiya,
    firstly, I would not recommend backing up anything *in isolation*. As all system critical files interact, and some are stored (invisibly) at various locations, including the volume header.
    The "library" files (you'll find various ones, one in your actual bootup drive, one in your home folder, and one in your "system" folder) are, of course critical (see Dimaxium's post)
    With a MBP, I'd recommend timecapsule or external firewire HDD (I had some excellent experience with LaCie 1Tb on Firewire 800 - incredibly fast).
    What I'd do, rather than running Time Machine, which can be - of course - *very useful* (drawback, it uses the backup disk till full) is the following:
    If you know your existing OS is pristine and works perfectly, I'd get external HDD, install Leopard (from Leopard disk), then use migration assistant and it'll create a clone (if you tick all the boxes - note article about the versions: http://macs.about.com/od/leopard105/ss/migratevol.htm ).
    That way, the new disk has everything. And from time to time, just boot up, using your external HDD and update.
    Bit more work, but that way, you got a fully functional "emergency OS" available anytime.

  • Importing Quiz project as swf into another project

    I've been playing around trying to get projects within
    projects. My latest attempt has been to create a multiquestion
    project, export, and then import into another project which has
    demos, images, ect...
    I've been able to rig it so one question swf files are
    working, but when I import projects with more than one question
    slide in them it seems to display both slides at once. I've tried
    using a paused transparent button, to no avail.
    Does this make sense? Any ideas?

    >>TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
    That's a common mistake when loading swf's. Likely you are trying to reference the stage in the loaded movie, before it's actually been added to the stage. Use the ADDED_TO_STAGE event to init your objects...

  • CP4 Access/Excell import - Quiz result email sending

    Hi - sorry for my bad english - i'm good in order a beer, but in technik a loser, so don't beat me.
    First question: is there any way to fill up a quiz-pool from a Access or Excel database?
    Second question: What can i do to send the result of the quiz to a email-account?
    I have insert a email-address, but it is not working - maybe i have to do more ?
    Thanks a lot for your help.
    Friendly regards, Wolvo
    PS.: If it helps for more understanding i can send this in german too

    Hi Lilybiri - thanks a lot for your help.
    If a customer like to create a big quiz perhaps for schools a.s.o. is the work on the base very time expensiv.
    The quiz-pool in CP4 is helpfull, but not very good to handle - so it's maybe a good idea, to got a extern data base.
    I have reporting to a email address anabled, and on the end of the quiz appears a buttun "send" without any function.
    Maybe it is a problem of CP4 with W7 64 bit?
    It would be very helpfull to report the resolved test to a email.
    Friendly greetings, Wolvo

  • Export/Import Photoshop preferences, plugins, etc.?

    I need to wipe my computer clean and reinstall windows.
    re-installing Photoshop is not a big deal, but I have several preferences, plugins, saved layer styles, actions, etc. That I do not want to loose and will not be retained.
    Is there a way I can back all this up, and so when i reinstall photoshop its the same as it is now?
    I also will want to do this with Dreamweaver, After Effects, and Illustrator.
    Thanks!

    1: Give Them A Home:
    First, decide where you’ll be backing up your settings. Be it a folder on your hard drive, a CD/DVD or an offsite storage service. Wherever it is find a consistent place that will be separate up from your main computer should you have a total crash.
    2: Archive your actions:
    Photoshop is not a place to store actions. When you download a new action don’t just load it in the actions palette and expect it to stay there. PS will retain the actions so long as the preference to keep it loaded remains. Also deleting an action in PS does not actually delete the file, it just removes it from the action palette. As long as you have your action files safely stored you’re good. But, if you load an action, and then delete the file expecting PS to retain it forever, your doom is sealed.
    I like to make a “favorite actions” set that I store with my other actions. This way all my commonly used actions are in one set that I can load fast. I keep it in PS all the time, but it’s backed up should I have a crash. My other actions are nearby as well, but I load them only occasionally since all my favorites are in one set. You can do this by making a new action set (folder) within PS, then drag your favorite actions into it from other sets, then save your favorites set in a safe place.
    2: Saving Brushes & More With Preset Manger.
    In PS go to Edit/Preset Manager. A window will pop up that contains a dropdown to select your brushes, swatches, gradients, styles, contours, patterns, custom shapes or tools. If you have any custom settings for any of these it’s as simple as going to the manger, selecting what you want to manage and saving the set to your backup location.
    http://www.prophotoshow.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/file-preset-manager.jpg
    3: Backing Up Keyboard Shortcuts:
    Keyboard shortcuts can save a ton of time, and once you set up custom ones you’ll want them to be there.  I for example set CMD+F to flatten since I use it so often. If I get on a machine that does not have the setting, I quickly miss it. All you need do is go to up to the menu and choose Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts. Slick the save icon, and save the current shortcuts in a file. Now you can easily load it on any machine by simply loading the saved file.
    Power User Tricks:
    There’s more you can backup than what’s on the surface of PS. Workspaces  for example control the location of your palette’s and menus. Most know that you can save workspace by simply going to Window/Worskpaces. Thing is, there’s not really a built in method of exporting those workspaces for backup. To do this we have to talk about the Power User method.
    Outside of Photoshop, go to your application (programs) folder and find Photoshop. We’re using CS3 for this, but it should be similar with other versions. Inside the PS folder look for the Presets folder, and inside that you’ll find stuff like Workspaces, and all kinds of other settings. You can just copy and paste things from here, to your backup and be good to go.
    Photoshop CS4 Notes: (UPDATE)
    Most locations are the same in CS4. At the moment it looks like the only differnce if the Workspaces location. Rather than being inside the folder that contains Photoshop it’s found in these locations. Loaction information for other settings in CS4 can be found here.
    Mac… Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings/WorkSpaces
    Vista… Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings/Workspaces
    XP… Documents and Settings/[Username]/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings/Workspaces

  • Quiz Preference Pass or Fail Settings

    I have a 5 slide Captivate Project. I have a next button set
    up on each slide for a total of 4 buttons. Each button is set to a
    value of 1. Add to Total and Track Score is checked for each button
    with report answer is left blank. I am using AICC with Pass/Fail,
    Slide view only, Score and Report Score. The issue that I am having
    is that when I go to the Pass or Fail option under the Quiz heading
    I change the Pass/Fail Option to the second option labled "points
    or more to pass." To the side in () it indicates the number 4. When
    I enter the number 4 into the select box and hit ok it appears to
    have worked. When I reopen the select box indicates 0. Why will it
    not stay at 4?

    Hi all
    I just tested this. The four points does work, despite what
    the dialog indicates if you close and re-open it. Aside from simply
    being a quirk with the way the dialog functions, I'm not really
    seeing that it impacts behavior in production.
    Just thought I'd report what I found... Rick
