Importing raw images into Lightroom 3

I have Lightroom 3 and I am unable to import my raw images from my Canon 60 D.  What do I need to do to fix this?

Upgrade to Lightroom 3.6 (free for you since you already have Lightroom 3)

  • I can't import raw files into lightroom

I have been using lightroom 4. I shoot with a nikon d300s. I recently used a nikon D610 and now it says preview not available. It also says the the raw images aren't able to import. So I recently upgraded to Lightroom 5 and it still says preview not available. I need some suggestions on how to import them.

I don't use nikon software.  I just use lightroom. I just got lightroom 5. I tried to update to 5.3 but couldn't find the location where to find it.

Do you have Lightroom 5.3 or higher?
Did you use Nikon software at any point on these photos?

I've just dowloaded lightroom 3.4 and now I'm having problems importing raw files into lightroom.  I havent had a problem before.  Can anyone help me?  My camera is a Nikon D7000.

  • Can't import any images into lightroom 5

Working away in my studio and suddenly I can't import any images into lightroom 5 (version5.5) for macbook pro os x 10.9.5

    Thank you for your response,
    ...my complete goofiness.
I somehow managed to change my destination folder in Lightroom when importing images and could not copy to the "location" (or as the right panel indicates, the "destination").
So adjusted my destination folder and am back to importing as usual.

  • Importing raw images into lightroom4 without automatically editing.

when importing my raw images into lightroom4 they are automatically editing how do i change this?

My guess is that you just don't understand how Lr4 (and every other raw converter) works.
There is no such thing as viewing a raw file, only viewing the interpretation of a particular converter (of which your camera is the first raw converter to take a whack).
It's time to learn how to edit with Lr4 - what you start with in Lightroom will *always* be different than your camera, or your manufacturer software, or any other raw converter...
(assuming it's not an issue of inadvertently changed default settings or settings applied inadvertently upon import...).
Note: because Lightroom does not take camera-specific things into account, the initial starting point is often less optimized than your camera or manufacturer's rendition (e.g. no luminance noise reduction is applied, active d-lighting is not taken into consideration...)
PS - Lr4/PV2012 rocks - once you learn how to use it - it's the best!
    A couple of specifics:
    * Lr4 defaults to Adobe Standard (see Camera Calibration section in Develop Module), which tends to be run a little magenta-y, a little cyan-y, and a little bright. Consider a camera emulation profile, or try red (primary) hue +7 and blue (primary) hue +10 for portraits that use Adobe Standard (also camera calibration section). Also try pulling the lights slider left in the parametric tone curve. If you like this for some photo types, roll it into a custom profile using DNG profile editor (can even be precisely calibrated for your specific camera).
    * Lr4 includes a little contrast boost that is not represented by the tone curve (nor the contrast slider). If too much for portraits, try -contrast, or -highlights...

  • Importing RAW images into iPhoto5

I'm trying to import RAW images taken by my Canon Powershot S45. It says it's an invalid file type or invalid data. However, if I use the Image Capture application, the pictures come out okay. Of course, I can't import those images to iPhoto.
Is there a way to get around this problem?

    clearlynuts:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. According to the iPhoto camera support page the S45 is not supported. You might do a search in this forum for S45 or Powershot S45 to see if you get any hits. It may be new and supported and you're just having a problem particular to you.

  • Importing RAW images into iPhoto

Hi there, I have a macbook with snow leopard running iPhoto 08 and it won't import RAW images from my new Canon T5i. Gets unrecognizable file format error. The T5i is on the Apple list of supported cameras for RAW imports and iPhoto 08 supports RAW (and I checked the RAW box in preferences). Any ideas? thanks!

thanks so much, i spent hours trying to get an answer and this was my last shot! appreciate

  • I have a new camera and cannot import RAW files into lightroom.

I have a new Sony NEX 5 and have tried importing the ARW files into lightroom. The files are recognized when I import photos from device. When I choose the .arw files to import, I receive an message "unknown errors occurred" and files won't import. I have never had a problem importing files from a card or directly from my older camera. Any suggestions?

Check here to see if your camera is supported yet.
If its a camera launched in the last month it won't be. But you can try LR 3.2 RC and see if it has been added. Otherwise you will have to wait until LR supports the format. This is a problem caused by manufacturers constantly using their own formats which require Adobe to investigate every new format before adding it to LR. In 99.99% of the cases the so called new format from the manufacturers is just a line of code with the name of the camera in it. You can use a EXIF editor tool (just google, lots of free ones) to change the name in the RAW file to one presently supported and then convert to DNG. If you do go down this road then ensure you also keep a copy of the original files just in case something has actually changed.
If you are still using LR 2.7 and the format you need was introduced with LR 3 you don't need to upgrade, you can just use Adobes standalone converter to convert the files to DNG and then import them.

  • Downloading RAW images into Lightroom 4

I just switched to Mac from PC and I am not able to download my RAW images (from Canon Mark iii) into Lightroom 4.  Anyone know a fix for this problem?

Once you buy LR 5 you can install any of the LR 5.x versions where LR 5.7 just came out and supports the newest cameras, like the Nikon D750 or Canon 7D Mark II along with all earlier models.
It would be wise to download and install the LR 5.7 as a trial and make sure it works for you before buying the upgrade.  The minimum OS is 10.7 and Win 7, I think, so if you’re on XP or Vista or OS X 10.6 then you’re out of luck.
The various version of LR are available on the Adobe Updates site:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
They will run in trial mode for 30 days or until you enter appropriate serial numbers.

  • Anybody had trouble importing raw images into Lr2.3 from a Nikon D5000?

I get an error message that says "file not supported or damaged" when I try to import my D5000 raw images (.nef) into Lr 2.3

Nikon D5000 was first supported by LR 2.4.
Why don't you ugrade to LR 2.7 (it's free), if not LR3 (not so free ...)? Alternatively you can use Adobe DNG converter (5.4 or higher) to convert your NEFs to DNG and import them into LR2.3.

  • On Importing raw images to Lightroom  only some of the images will import.

I have used LightRoom for years and just started having this issue.  I select all of my raw images and "Open with" LightRoom 5. I can view all of the images that I want to import. It then imports only some. There are times it will import some and then freezes up in Import mode. I have even converted  images to dng and found it to do the same thing.  As a professional photographer this is frustrating!

If you mean "Open With" in your operating system, I am surprised that you get any images to import this way. As far as I know, Adobe has (tried to) disable this as a method of importing photos, and so I doubt you will find any help here in this forum on this matter, as this is not a function of Lightroom (although you used to be able to do it in earlier versions).

  • Importing Raw images into Krita

I would like to try Krita for processing RAW images from my Nikon D60. Looked at the Krita manual (link below) and there should be an option to import Nikon NEF files but I dont see it in Krita. Do I need to install another package for this ? I already have graphicsmagick, libraw1394 installed.

Also any tips or tutorials about using FOSS Linux bases software for HDR would be great.
    thanks

Here's ther response when I posted this in the KDE forums :
    http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=139&t=85623
Looks like they libkdcraw dependency is missing from the arch repos. I have send an email to Ronald VH (the arch package maintainer) just now. hopefully the library can be added to arch.

  • I am unable to import raw images into elements 11 camera raw from my panasonic lumix 200

I am unable to import raw files to E11 from my Panasonic Lumix 200. I get a response that says "nothing imported - no supportive file types" also "can't complete request as file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by installed version of Camera raw". I think I understand that I need at least a 7.2 version and don't know what I have.  The camera is a fairly recent model.

I'm new to all of this and didn't know to look further down the menu. I started browsing under help and found how to register the product which I hadn't done and have been thinking that was the root of the problem. Turns out with your suggestion to get me started I was right - I hope, haven't tested it yet. I had 6.4 It is still running.

  • I can't import my images into Lightroom 4.  What's the problem?

When I insert a CF card into my reader, thumbnails of my images appear in the organizer.  When I click on "Import", the following message appears: "The following files were not imported because they could not be read."  I didn't have this problem with versions 2 or 3 of Lightroom.  Is there a solution for this problem?

Take my apologize for the delay doceddy. This issue is 90 percent permissions related. But one thing is confusing in this. If it would be permission issue it should not affect for example the desktop folder. .
    Testing:
1 / Create a floder TEST on the desktop.
2/ Use the transfer method which you normally to download the rwas from your cam. Put few raws into the TEST folder.
3/ Run Lightroom and try to import those in TEST.
4/ If it does not work: highlight the test folder - right click - properties - check if there is read only attribute.
5/ If it so - try to put the blue marker from this box away and click apply.
6/ After this close the dialogue (the operation will run some small time). Then do it again if your system allowed you to apply the change. So second time should be the attribut away. If it is start Lightroom and try to import again from TEST.
7/ Give me some feedback then please - I will suggest you some other steps if it does not work.
    Good Luck
