Importing Roles-User Groups Mapping from one Environment to Another

Hi,
I have this situation. I am using WLP8.1 SP4
I have two environments (E1 and E2)and I have 2 MS Active Directory server (MS1 and MS2). The LDAP authenticator in E1 is configured to use MS1 and the LDAP authenticator in E2 is configured to use MS2. The user groups are stored in the Active Directory servers and the role-user groups mappings are done within the Weblogic.
I imported the role-user groups mappings from E1 to E2 and it works. After that, if I map another user group to an existing role and do an import again from E1 to E2, it does not take any effect. Why is it so? Any kind soul can help me? I am very lost now.?:|

Unfortunately, I'm already using Catalog Manager in transferring files. I'd really like to find out if there is a particular file that defines the permissions of the objects that I should also transfer, or if I should really do that manually for each of the objects?

Hi,
To use the Import Wizard utility, you basically need Administrator, Full Control to Top-level folder, and "Add objects to the folder" and "Edit objects" for this user on the root folder.
You need the least restrictive role, because you require absolute control for content promotion between 2 entitlement systems.
the webi document is the cherry on-top, you;ll have universes, connections, folders to bring over too.

Using Command Line to move objects from one environment to another enviroment

Can the Command Line (sacmd) be used to move Job Groups/Jobs and other object from one environment to another environment? If so, how?

Moving jobs and objects can only be accomplished by using the Transporter application. There is a document called "Transporter User Guide" with a chapter called "Running Transporter in Batch Mode" that details how to send commands to transporter from the command line. It also details how to setup jobs in Tidal to use this command line. Once you have jobs in Tidal using the Transporter command line, you can then use sacmd to run these jobs.
Does this make sense?

Advice on Promoting Master Data Services Changes from one environment to another, e.g. DEV to UAT

Has anyone got experience of creating a script to promote Master Data Services changes from one environment to another, e.g. Development to Production please?
The changes basically consist of adding several new MDS members which can be accessed via Excel.

In MDS terminology an Entity is metadata, and Entity Members are the data.
Typically changes to an Entity (ie model design changes) are promoted to different environments. Model design changes can be replicated manually in each environment or you can Export the model and Import it into the target environment.
Adding, editing and deleting entity members is performed directly in each environment.
If you want to selectively import data from a Dev environment, you can use staging.

This is for the first time that i am trying to migrate odi objects from one environment to another. I am facing issue and requesting help.
The odi installation is the part of ASCP module of JDEdwards where some standard objects (interfaces/packages) are already created. I have developed some custom interfaces and want to migrate the same to QA environment.
I exported the specific folder (including children) to an xml file and then trying to import the same in the QA environment.
When i choose "Synonym Insert_Update" option to import is prompts error :
You are importing an object from another repository with same identifier. This is forbidden
This is completely new folder which do not exist on target. If I import using Duplication option, it successfully import and assigns new internal ID to object (which is as expected). But how will I update the newly created object in future ?
What should be followed to migrate objects ?

How to transfer reports from one environment to another

Pls. is there a way to transfer reports from one environment to another (CTE to production f.example) ?
I know that OBIEE has query export in XML, etc. I don´t think it exists in OD but I decided to try a question...

Hi Antonio,
This is not possible, there is no such XML view for CRM On Demand.. I miss it dearly! I advise clients to prototype reports on their staging/CTE environment but actually fully develop these directly on production. Reports can be developed and changed in personal folders with no impact on the live environment, if a report is currently live it can be copied to a personal folder on tweaked in that personal folder.
There is a whisper that R17 could bring us the ability to copy configuration/reports between environments but the Oracle guys would be better placed to update you on this one.

Hi Chandrakanth,
if you want only the template the easiest is just copy the xlt file from the same folder from one server to the other.
If you want to copy all the environment (even data) you can use backup and restore from the server manager (appset\server backup save the zip file on the destination environment and restore it).

How to deploy reports from one environment to another in CoD

Hi Experts,
I'm actually in training with an Oracle partner in order to learn how to create reports in CoD.
It seems quite easy.
But the trainer here told us to develop directly the new reports on the Prod environment.
I've asked why, cause we also have Dev and Test environment.
And he answerer me that there's no way to deploy reports from one environment to another, the only way is to redevelop it on each environment.
As for me it seems impossible not to be able to deploy reports from dev to test and then test to prod, I'm directly asking experts.
So could you please confirm this or not, and maybe provide me an example of what you're doing on your side to copy from one environment to another.

How to publish infopath list form changes from one environment to another

How can we move InfoPath customized list form changes from one environment to another example Development environment to UAT environment? We can save that as source file and update url on the .xsn file. But is there any other way we can do it?

You can save the list as template in source environment. Download the template for List Templates, upload in the same location in Destination site. The customized infopath should go with it. Let us know if that doesnt work.

Move users and schemas from one instance to another

Hi, I'm starting out in a DBA position.
My task at the moment is to move users and schemas from one instance to another.
We're using 9.2.0.7.
I have concluded that the following steps are necessary to move users and schemas from one instance to another :
1. Create the needed tablespaces.
2. Create the users that exist in the source instance
3. Use exp to do a full export
4. Use imp to re-create the schemas from the output file created by exp in step 3
Am I missing anything ?

3. Use exp to do a full exportInstead of doing a FULL export just export the users you want to move and imp that in other database using FROMUSER & TOUSER parameter.

You can try like this.
1) Login on LCM.
2) in preference add server details for dev and qa.
3) create new job and login on source server cmc and destination.
4) Click on create.
5) add objects in this job. like select the universe.
6) Promote job.
If you are not able to login on source or destination then you need to open some ports between server. for the mean time you can use import wizard also.. if you are doing first time then read the import guide and test with some objects first.

ITunes user library transfer from one account to another on the SAME comptr

Initial information: I have my computer, internet is with SBC Yahoo DSL. It has five sub accounts on it; mine, my wife's and my three children. Each has their own subaccount to make life easy.
I bought my wife an ipod in the August and through ignorance set up the itune to run on my subaccount. So when she wanted to buy a song, she had to go to my subaccount, log on, buy the song, plug in and download to the ipod. No problem.
I then bought my daughter an ipod for her birthday in September. Not knowing any better, she plugged into my subaccount and got all of her mother's stuff. Not a big problem in that they like the same stuff.
December my son gets an ipod. I learned my lesson and set up an itunes account on his subaccount. He therefore buys songs, that go to his ipod only. He wanted some songs from mom's, so I couldn't figure how to get them over. So I read the instructions on this web page. I burned the disk with the 22 songs that he wanted, but when burning the discs, no info (song title, artist, album) came with it, so I manually added the song titles and artists names. He was satisfied.
Now mom and sister want their songs put onto their subaccounts so that they won't have to share, or better, won't have to down load what each other has. I tried burning more discs, but when I got to disc #11, I realized that once again, there are no names or titles, etc to the songs on the burnt discs.
QUESTION: (finally) Is there a way to transfer the songs from dad's itunes, to other subaccounts on the SAME computer. This way not needing to burn lots of CD's without the information that they want.
Final piece of info, in case you don't know how SBC/Yahoo DSL is set up. I have the different subaccount on the computer, but to get from one to another, you need to either log off, or so simply "switch users." For this reason, such functions like "select all" then "copy" then "paste" I don't think can be done. Please make your answers very simple as I am not that computer literate.

I'll try and keep this simple. It gets a bit confusing.
Ok, in the account which you want to transfer songs from, make a playlist of all the songs you wish transferred. After you do so, open the playlist, then go to "File > Export Song List". Put the file in a place that you'll remember. Then, go to the account you want the songs to go to, then go to "File > Import", and find the file you created from the other account and open it. That should import those songs into that iTunes library.

How to copy specific reports from one environment to another?

I need to release a few answers, prompts and dashboards from one test environment to a production environment. I do want to move just specific things, not the whole RPD and catalog as I do have a lot of reports in testing.

I am doing as follows.
for Answers: Assume you are copying from Dev to Prod.
1)open the two environments.
2) in the target environment take any answer and save it as sample1.
3)From Dev environment open the answer which you want to copy to target environment.
go to Advanced tab---> copy the xml from the window of Request XML
4) open the sample 1 report in target environment and go to Advanced tab.
Paste the copied xml in to Request xml window--->> click on set xml
5) save it.
you should be able to see the report in new environment.

Importing records into a table from one server to another server

I have two servers running Oracle Portal, these two servers are not connected at all. I need to export the records from one table on server one into a table (defined exactly the same) on server two.
How do I go about this? I know that I can query the rows and extract the information into HTML, Excel or ASCII on server one can I use one of these query outputs to somehow import into the table on server two?
Is there another method to accomplish this operation that I've overlooked?
