Importing Safari bookmark folder to Leopard

Hi, i just got a new mpb, and i used to use Tiger on my old one. I am trying to import my bookmark file which was located in Library in the OS to the new Leopard location: Library>Caches>Metadata>Safari. I copy and pasted from Tiger to Leopard, but the bookmark bar and bookmarked pages have not changed in Safari. Am I doing this right? thanks.

There is no way to keep a folder in the right-hand window from opening when you drop a bookmark into it.
In placing a folder or bookmark between to folders, keep the cursor tight to the left-hand border of the window. When you are between two folders, you will see a line appear and you can then drop the bookmark or folder. If you don't keep the cursor al the way to the left, Safari assumes you want to drop the bookmark or folder in another folder.

How does one transfer, or sync Safari  bookmarks from snow leopard to a iPad Air without involving iCloud?

Give Xmarks a try, they have an iOS app as well. It will not sync directly to Safari on the iPad, you open the links through the app.

  • Import safari bookmarks?

    Hi all,
I accidentally deleted a folder in Safari which has several important links within it. I managed to use third party software to recover the deleted bookmarks, but have been unable to find any way to import them back into the phone. The file is simply a html file, but for the life of me, I cannot find of anyway to import it back into the iPhone 5s.
I'm unsure why you'd be able to recover files that you couldn't do anything with!
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Do you want to migrate your entire user account?
    If so, use Migration Assistant.
If not, the Safari bookmarks are in your user Library/Safari folder. The file is called Bookmarks.plist
To get to your user Library, hold down the Option key and select Library from the Go menu.

  • Importing Safari bookmarks into IE on Windows XP Pro

I was just given an old PC by my mom. I'm using RDC to control it with my iBook (very nifty - I can sit down here in the living room and control that dumb PC upstairs!). Anyway, is there a way to import my Safari bookmarks into Internet Explorer on the PC?
    Thanks,

Use Safari's File --> Export Bookmarks... command to export your bookmarks to a file. I suggest you save the file to your Desktop so that you can find it easily.
Copy that file to your Windows computer and then use Internet Explorer's import feature to import your bookmarks.
    Hope this helps! bill

  • Moving Large Safari Bookmarks Folder

    Anyone else with this problem.
Using Safari on Mavericks. Trying to use Safari > Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks to move a large folder to new location in my Bookmarks Menu folder. I don't have a problem moving smallish folders. But, when I try to move the large folder (i.e., drag and drop), Safari fails and quits respoding (force quit becomes necessary) if I try to move it anywhere except the top of my Bookmarks Menu folder or into another folder therein. Any solutions/thoughts?
I am not interested in spliting the folder. I can handle things more or less successfully by moving the folder out of my Bookmarks Menu folder. But, I don't like this solution.

I dont see an Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari folder in my windows drive.
I think I may have meant to say the bookmarks are being placed on my Dell pc

  • Can I import Safari bookmarks from my iphone5 into a new iMac?

My hard drive recently crashed and unfortunately, I didn't have a full backup.  Is it possible to import the Safari bookmarks from my iphone5 into my
    "like new" iMac?

Configure the same iCloud account on each device and enable Safari syncing.  This will sync boomarks, reading list items, and enable iCloud tabs.

  • How to import Safari bookmarks?

I have reinstalled my OS. I have my previous system files. How do I import my previous Safari bookmarks into my new installation?
    Thanks.

    I see it's been answered.
But just in case someone is searching this, you can also use MobileMe, back to Mac option and it works very well.
I just recently did this step to my MacPro.
It doesn't have a back-up yet right out of the box.
My laptop's backup really came in handy to get maybe 5000 bookmarks in less than a second from MobileMe.
So from the new machine, just access MobileMe, and your set.

  • How can I import safari bookmarks from my iPad or iPhone?

I recently opened a MobileMe account and set my account to sync with my Safari on my iMac. While I was in Safari, MobileMe synced, I mistakenly allowed it to sync from MobileMe to Safari, not the other way around. So I have lost all my bookmarks. They still exist in my iPhone and iPad, but I want them to go back into my computer. I have tried syncing the devices to my iMac, but to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? Have I missed something?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Open System Preferences/MobileMe: Select the Sync tab. Then click the Advanced tab. Select your Mac and click: *Reset Sync Data*
If that doesn't sync your Safari bookmarks back to your iPhone or iPad, try MobileMe: Troubleshooting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch sync issues first.
You can also post in the iPhone Forum to get help there.
Do you by chance use Firefox? You could export your Bookmarks there to Safari and it would be a much simpler process ??

  • How can I import Safari bookmarks to my iPhone 6

I simply want to export Safari bookmarks from my Mac to iPhone 6. I do not want to use cloud. ITunes lets me sync contacts and calendars (along with music, movies and all the other crap I do not want to sync) but does not offer me the option  of syncing safari bookmarks. How the **** do I do it?

How? You use simply iCloud. That's your only choice.

  • Mavericks 10.9.5: Original Safari Bookmarks Folder Missing: Need it Back

Hi: Safari "comes with" its own stylized versions of the "Bookmarks Menu" and "Favorites Bar" folders. Long story--I accidentally deleted the Bookmarks Menu folder. Not a problem I thought; so I just created my own. However, without getting into detail, I find that I need the original-type Bookmarks Menu folder back. Do you have any idea how to get Mavericks/Safari to generate one? Thanks.

    No ideas? Really?

Well, duh! I never thought to do so and to see if the missing folder would be available for storage of the bookmark. It was. Now I think I can solve the rest of my whole problem--which I didn't mention earlier. I'll post back if I have additional problems. Thank you very much.

  • How do I import a bookmarks folder from another computer and add it to my existing list of bookmarks folders?

I have two computers. One contains a folder of bookmarks that I want to transfer to the other computer and add it in. I don't want to replace all my bookmarks on the second computer with those from the first computer. How do I do this?

Which kind of backup did you do? A backup from the Bookmarks Organizer or a backup using the program MozBackup?
If you used MozBackup, you need to install it on the new computer to decode the backup. http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/
If you used the Bookmarks Organizer, you might just need to add .json to the end of the file name.

  • To import bookmarks from Safari, Help says to select Import from the File menu, but there is no Import option there. What then is the first step to import Safari bookmarks?.

I was reading from the Help menu which does provide the warning that the material may be outdated since it is not supported.

The Import option has been moved from the File menu to the Library window; that article needs to be revised.
*''Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks'' to open the Library window
*In the Library window, ''Import and Backup > Import Data from Another Browser''

  • Transfer Safari bookmarks to new MacBook Pro

I just got a new MB Pro yesterday and would like to transfer my bookmarks from my older SR MB. So I "exported" them to a jump drive and then transferred that file "Safari Bookmarks.html" to my new desktop. I then went into Safari and tried the "import" option. However, I get an message that says "can not import bookmarks. Unable to read any bookmarks in Safari Bookmarks.html.
I don't know why this process can't be simpler? I've had the same problems with Windows Bookmarks (Favorites) for years now. I did manage to drag the entire Safari Bookmarks folder on to the Bookmarks Bar, but all these bookmarks are in sub-folders under "Safari Bookmarks.html".

Move the file ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist over in the Finder, where ~ is the item in the Finder's sidebar with the house icon.
First of all, when I export my bookmarks, the produced is called "safari bookmarks.html". Moving this file as per the about directions did not make Safari use the new bookmark list. I then tried renaming the file to bookmarks.PLIST and that didn't help either. I must be doing something wrong. Is it necessary to reboot for the change to take effect?

  • Safari bookmarks suddenly started deleting themselves today...

Safari bookmarks suddenly started deleting themselves today - I could only watch while it happened, and took just a matter of seconds. My bookmarks sync across my iPhone and iCloud, so they're gone everywhere - and I don't have my Time Machine working... Any ideas as their restoration..?

Do you happen to have another browser installed and if so, did you ever import Safari bookmarks to that browser?
If so, you can export them back to Safari then sync to iCloud.
And try restarting your Mac and iPhone both.
