Importing site info from Dreamweaver 8 to CS3

I am thinking about moving from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver
CS3. I have roughly 10 sites that I edit and update. I am wondering
if there is a way to import the site information from 8 to CS3
(meaning the FTP info, folders, etc).
Thanks for the help,
Joe

I have a similar issue. I had CS4 installed on my machine with about 20 sites/ftp info etc saved into it. My computer had a complete meltdown and I had to rebuild the computer. I have installed CS4 onto the new hard drive and I was able to save the old hard drive (it was unstable though and safer to start fresh). Is it possible to have my installation of CS4 grab the site information from a different drive on my machine? I was hoping it would just find it when I installed the software, but no such luck.
I tried "importing sites" but I could find any .ste files that it was looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It will take a long time to re-input all of those sites.

  • Light Room import site info from Dreamweaver.

What is the best way to upload a lightroom gallery? directly to the website or export it to the folder where Dreamweaver stores the site and then Sync?

It's good to use Dreamweaver so you familiarize yourself with FTP and the folder structure of your web space. After then, you're in a better position to use LR's upload, knowing exactly where it's sending the stuff, or being able to look at your web space and see what's gone wrong.
Secondly, exporting to your hard drive allows you to review the gallery in your browser and pick up any errors, typos, wrong pics etc.

  • Problems upgrading from Dreamweaver 4 to CS3

The website I manage is www.episcopal-dallas.org. Today, I
upgraded from Dreamweaver 4 to CS3. In Design view, I can edit
about half of the pages, but those of the other half (including the
index/home page) have gray backgrounds (with a few exceptions that
have white), and, although I can make changes in the code, I cannot
edit them in Design view. The cursor forms the universal "nicht"
sign — circle with a diagonal slash through it. I can't find
any commonality between the ones that I can edit and the ones I
    can't.
Also, on some of the pages, the navigation panel that is
supposed to be on the left side has ended up above the text of the
main body of the page. Manuals I have say nothing about upgrading
    existing websites.

You should never have to do this.

  • Downgrade from Dreamweaver CS4 to Cs3?

Is there any way to downgrade from Dreamweaver CS4 to CS3?
I've looked all over and can't find anything on this subject. (I
tried to find a new copy of CS3, but encountered a host of problems
of one description or another, and I don't want to pirate a

    easiest method...)
    Thanks.

  • Client Site info on Dreamweaver

    fixed.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems, make sure that the window is not maximized:
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

If there's no backup, then there is nothing to restore.
In iTunes, under Edit > Preferences > Backups it should list the name that was assigned to the device.

  • Exporting site info from CS3 to CS4

How do I export my "remote info" under "manage sites" from CS3 to CS4? I have about 30 sites under "manage sites" and would hate to have to dig up all the passwords after the upgrade. I used the "export" button in CS3, but it didn't bring in the remote info.

    1.  In CS3, open Site Manager
    2.  Select the sites you want to Export
    3.  Click Export and select a KNOWN location into which to write the *.ste files
    4.  Open CS4.
    5.  Open Site Manager
    6.  Click IMPORT, browse to and select the site files you just exported and click OK.
Such fundamental questions as this are always answered in DW's F1 Help.  You'd have been done an hour ago if you had looked there.

  • Managing Apex 3.0.1 Site Files from DreamWeaver

    Hi,
I recently developed an application using Apex3.0.1 using a pre-defined theme in Apex (Theme 9). I want to make a couple of modifications to this theme, but I am still looking for a way to access the theme's files and folders in the database remotely.
I tried using WebDEV in Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and Oracle XML DB Protocol Server to manage the themes folder remotely from my desktop but it comes up with a access denied response, even though Iam using a valid apex admin database account in the connection process. Am I doing the right thing here?
As a test, I tried typing the url to the apex themes directory directly in the address bar of IE, hoping to get a directory listing, but instead I get a Forbidden response from the server. Hmm..??
I have administrative access to the Oracle 10g Database Server on which Apex runs, and I don't know what i'm doing wrong!!
Apart from these, I am still not a 100 % sure of the following:
    1. What account will I use to connect to XML DB using webDAV. Is there an account used to manage the HTTPDB server in Apex??
    2. I understand that the site files are in the database in a hierarchical structure managed by Oracle XML DB, so I am confused on what url path i should specify for the themes folders that I need to manage remotely.
I would kindly appreciate the help of any Apex expert on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sutherland

    Sutherland,
I can give you some insight, if your machine is trying to authenticate itself to the server via windows then you need to properly set that up. Also when you want to access the images directory on the server you are accessing XDB and you need the password for that. If you were running XE on your desktop and put http://localhost:8080/i/ in your browser and you would see the 'i' directory displayed. Sometimes, depending on your setup, you have to enter a username and password for XBD before it will display the directory. Try changing 'localhost' to your fully qualified server name and try that in your browser first. After you get that working you might be able to use DreamWeaver. HTH.
    Keep Smiling,
    Bob R

  • Import Sites from Studio MX

I need to import site information from Studio MX to
DreamWeaver CS3. From the New Site dialog it appears that the files
have the .ste extension, but I am not positive.
Would like to have the information needed to import site
information from Studio MX to CS3.

    > AND- Is dw MX still able to run, and are the old sites
    still defined on it?
    >
    >>> Yes, and yes.
    okay- two ways to go.
The upgrade on the same machine should have pulled up all
    sites defined on
the older version. Don't know why that didn't work. It's
    something that
should work doing a normal upgrade on the same box.
    way one:
get the third party mm-exporter utility. I don't use windows
    and don't use
    this program. But it works.
    http://mm-exporter.joexx.de/
way two: if you can open dw MX and "see" the old sites, then
    go to dw menu
IN DW MX, manage sites, and use the manage sites dialog box
    to select a site
and create a .ste file for that site. Rinse, lather, repeat
    for every site
you have defined. Then use the same menu item in cs3 to
    "import" those site
    definition .ste files
remember- there are two things- the site definition, and the
    actual site
files. The site definition tells dw where things are. The
    site files are the
    things in the site.

  • Importing e-mail addresses and Address Book info from a Tiger back up drive

    HI,
I've upgraded to Leopard from Tiger. How do I import/sync info from Address Book and e-mail address I've been in contact with from the back up drive that I made before the change?
    thanks

    Greetings,
If you want to import the information from Address Book in Tiger, you must first open Address Book there, then export all your contacts as a single vCard file, and copy the com.apple.AddressBook.plist file from Home/Library/Preferences.
In Leopard, copy the preferences file to the same location you got it from in Tiger, then launch Address Book and drag & drop the vCard file you made onto the open Address Book window to import all those contacts.

  • Can you import a master from one Muse file to another?

I've got upload space through Comcast, and my homepage and other material are there.  (home.comcast.net/~gregfisk/)
But I have another site that I uploaded there through Dreamweaver a year ago.  I'd like to update it with Muse.  (www.caption-ator.com)
But the thing with Muse is, when it exports a site to HTML, it defualts the home page to 'index.html'.  In this case, the caption-ator site info (made with muse) would over-write my main web page.  The same goes for any files that share the same file name, like 'site global.css', and 'sitemap.xml'.
So I guess I should take the site info from the caption-ator Muse file, and rebuild it in my personal web page. So there will (theoretically) be no conflicts in the file names, and can all be uploaded safely.
Rather than rebuild the whole Caption-ator muse built site in the Muse file for my personal web  page - is there any way to take a Master page from one Muse file, and import it to another?  That would be a HUGE time saver.  My first instinct would be to take the Muse tab for my personal web page, and the Muse tab for the Caption-ator web page, then drag and drop the Master from the Caption-ator page to the personal web page.  But Muse doesn't seem to allow for tabs to be kept separate like that.
    Any advice is apprecaited.

If you still have the .muse file for the template you want you can open it up in Muse 'Select All' --> Copy.
Open your destination blank template and paste it. You can have bothe muse files up in Muse at the same time.

As Murray said, they should migrate ok when you install CS3.
Good idea to keep a backup of the definitions in any case :-)

  • Import Cd info is not working

I have the latest iTunes on a Macbook pro. The import CD info from Gracenote has stopped working.
I have looked through internet sites for help but to no joy.
I have internet, Ive allowed access in the firewall. It was working about a month ago when I used the facility last.
All cd even previously imported are having the same issue.
Does anyone know how to get the look up back working.

Well changing the classpath to the correct one still didn't work.... but i still found the solution.
The Developer Environment that i use is JCreator and it seems it ignores the classpath and has its own settings for the class path... changing this also didn't work.
What worked was copying the Jar files from the JMF2.1.1e installed location into the path of the original classpath
