Importing sites from MX to CS3

Can someone please tell me how to import all of my existing
sites that I have set up in MX into my new version of CS3? This
seems like it would be such a common question, but I have not been
able to find the answer anywhere.
Thanks in advance!

There are two elements to migrating your sites:
1. The FILES that actually make up the website (the HTML
files, and
associated dependent files) should be copied from Computer A
to Computer B.
If you use a CD to transport them, be aware that when you
copy them from the
CD, they will copy as READ ONLY. You will need to use
Finder/Get
Info/Explorer to reset that Read Only property.
2. The site definitions that tell DW where to find the files
for each site,
and what the site's properties/parameters are. Those are
(when exported
from DW's Site manager) named with an *.ste extension. They
can be copied
to any location on the new system, and IMPORTED with DW's
site manager. If
you have used the EXPORTER from
http://mm-exporter.joexx.de/
to export the
sites, I don't believe that there is yet a version compatible
with DWCS3,
unfortunately. At any rate, after you have imported the
sites, you may need
to adjust the path to each site's local root folder,
depending on how
similar their location is on the two computers.

  • How do I Import footage from Premier Pro CS3 to After Effects?

    Hi
    As the subject says, how do I import footage from premier pro cs3 into after effects. I'm getting rather frustrated trying to figure this out.
    Via copy & paste I can copy into after effects but this copys the whole of the track on the timeline, where as I just want 10 seconds copied. The 10 seconds I want to copy is a segment & was highlighted when I clicked copy.
    Also when the full track gets copied, all my edits aren't copied & I get the raw track copied???
    I've googled this, tried the "Add Dynamic Link" but all I want is to copy 10 seconds of footage from premier into after effects, add my effect & then copy it back, and I can't figure out how to do this simple thing
    Any help
    Thanks.

    I am still not getting this.
    I highlight the selection I want to copy into after effects. I copy & paste it & it pastes my entire footage without any off the edits I have made.
    Having searched loads for this I can find no other answer than copy & paste.
    Please please could you guy be more specific with your answers as I just can't figure this one?

  • Import Sites from Studio MX

    I need to import site information from Studio MX to
    DreamWeaver CS3. From the New Site dialog it appears that the files
    have the .ste extension, but I am not positive.
    Would like to have the information needed to import site
    information from Studio MX to CS3.

    > AND- Is dw MX still able to run, and are the old sites
    still defined on it?

    >>> Yes, and yes.
    okay- two ways to go.
    The upgrade on the same machine should have pulled up all
    sites defined on
    the older version. Don't know why that didn't work. It's
    something that
    should work doing a normal upgrade on the same box.
    way one:
    get the third party mm-exporter utility. I don't use windows
    and don't use
    this program. But it works.
    http://mm-exporter.joexx.de/
    way two: if you can open dw MX and "see" the old sites, then
    go to dw menu
    IN DW MX, manage sites, and use the manage sites dialog box
    to select a site
    and create a .ste file for that site. Rinse, lather, repeat
    for every site
    you have defined. Then use the same menu item in cs3 to
    "import" those site
    definition .ste files
    remember- there are two things- the site definition, and the
    actual site
    files. The site definition tells dw where things are. The
    site files are the
    things in the site.

  • Importing site from CS5 to CS6

    I have been moving my sites from CS5 to CS6.  At the same time I am making the switch to FTPS for all the sites.
    On one specific site, I exported, imported into CS6, then made the FTPS changes needed for Yahoo hosted sites.  However, I failed to remember that this site has a different password, which I don't have access to, and I typed over the password.
    I thought if I deleted the site in CS6 and imported the .ste from CS5, I would restore the password.  Alas, I am getting a password/login failure error message.
    Was my logic in the re-importing invalid?
    I also tried to cut/paste the password from the CS5 site I still had available into the CS6 site, but this did not work either.
    Any suggestions other than contact Yahoo for assistance?

    One other thing that you can do with respect to usernames and passwords on sites is to use Apple's Keychain Access. The folks at Adobe were very smart and they place usernames and passwords into your Keychain Access file every time you create a site and give it a server.
    Simply go to your Spotlight search and type "Keychain Access" then click on it and look for your site. You will have to enter your user password to view passwords in Keychain Access, but it will let you re-establish your connection with your web host if you define a new site and mess things up in Dreamweaver.

  • How to import site from cs6 to cc if I forgot to export site

    I need help getting my sites to Dreamweaver CC.  I just reformated my computer and forgot to do an EXPORT of the sites.  I have all the folders of all my sites. So how do I create a new site and move those files into the new site.  Is there a right and wrong way to do it?  I tried creating a site, but when I go into the root folder I pointed it to the folder isn't there.
    Thanks

    If you have the local files (all site files for given sites within individual folders on your hard drive) all you need to do is create a new site definition by going to Site > New Site and for the Local Root Folder, browse to one of those site folders on your HD.
    All exporting does is save the server info, credentials and miscelaneous stuff on the back end. It doesn't do anything with your actual files on your hard drive.
    EDIT: If your local files were wiped out during your computer reformatting, you can create a new site from the old content online by going to Site > New Site and then placing all of the FTP info into it. Open the site in the Files window of DW and choose Get, then click Yes to Get Entire Site. That will download all of the files off of the remote server to your local machine again.

    Does anyone know if it's possible to import a font (Maximo) from Illustrator CS to CS3?

    That question makes no sense. Illustrator does not create, save, or export fonts.

  • Importing site info from Dreamweaver 8 to CS3

    I am thinking about moving from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver
    CS3. I have roughly 10 sites that I edit and update. I am wondering
    if there is a way to import the site information from 8 to CS3
    (meaning the FTP info, folders, etc).
    Thanks for the help,
    Joe

    I have a similar issue. I had CS4 installed on my machine with about 20 sites/ftp info etc saved into it. My computer had a complete meltdown and I had to rebuild the computer. I have installed CS4 onto the new hard drive and I was able to save the old hard drive (it was unstable though and safer to start fresh). Is it possible to have my installation of CS4 grab the site information from a different drive on my machine? I was hoping it would just find it when I installed the software, but no such luck.
    I tried "importing sites" but I could find any .ste files that it was looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It will take a long time to re-input all of those sites.

    Can you let me know if its possible to import a muse site from Business catalyst in to Dreamweaver? I have published a site using Muse to Business catalyst but would like to use FTP in dreamweaver to administer and edit.

    I think you could but you wouldn't like what you see in Design View.   Why do you want to do this?

  • Import previous iweb site from the internet? No old iweb files

    My mac crashed and I lost all the information I had stored in it, including the iweb files of the blog I created using Iweb. Is there a way to import my iweb blog into a new Iweb in the mac I purchased? The iweb site I created is still up, so I am wondering if I can import the entries from my old iweb blog into my new mac/iweb using RSS or some other mechanism to capture the text and pictures in my old iweb blog and transfer them to my new mac. I also use idisk, so when I log in to mobile me I see links to my old iweb blog under if I click on Idisk and then go to "site". Any ideas about how I can import my old iweb blog from the internet?
    The iweb version I have in my new mac is Iweb 3.0.3 (501)

    Jorge ~ Welcome to the Support Communities. Apple says:
    "iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.” (Source)
    ...If you don't have a backup of your Domain file (e.g. via Time Machine), paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • Import my site from mobileMe

    Hi,
    I recently installed SnowLeopard and I did a clean install. Before so, I confirmed that my website was stored on my iDisk and not on my computer. My site was made using iLife '08 and now I upgraded to iLife '09.
    Now I can't find a way to re-open my website to modify it... I cant find where in iWeb to tell to open from... it wants to create a new one...
    Any Ideas?

    That's because iWeb can't open your site - it can't import already published sites. To make alterations you need the domain.sites file found under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
    You will have to re-build your site from scratch unfortunately.

  • Importing Markers from Pr / Sb / Ae CS3

    I saw that 'Dools' said they figured out how to import
    markers from Premiere CS3 into Flash CS3 but I still am unable to
    see these markers transfer. I have tried exporting an FLV file from
    Premiere with info in the Chapter field. But I don't see any cue
    points in the file when I bring it into Flash. I have also tried
    Soundbooth. Soundbooth does created an actual xml file but still I
    don't see the corresponding cue points in Flash and would really
    appreciate any tips from those that have made it work. All of the
    manuals mention the capability but don't go much further.
    I'm using Premium Production CS3 on Windows.
    Thanks a lot,
    -Scott

    Here's some sample Actionscript 2.0 code (Sorry, haven't
    updated it for AS3 yet) that will let you verify external XML cue
    points in your Soundbooth or Premiere exported video:
    Actionscript 2.0 based Flash Cue Point Data Exchange
    Demonstration
    Requires:
    - FLVPlayback component on the Stage with an instance name of
    my_FLVPlybk
    - Dynamic Text Field on the Stage with an instance name of
    currentCuePoint
    - Cue Point XML file
    var myCues:XML = new XML(); //Create XML Object
    var curCueTime:Number = 0; //Set current cue point to 0
    var curCueName:String = ""; //Set current cue point name to
    myCues.ignoreWhite = true; //Ignore Whitespace in XML file
    First, setup the onLoad routine to parse the cue file.
    The file being loaded is a cue points XML file exported from
    Adobe Soundbooth.
    The example assumes it's relative to the swf but could also
    be loaded using
    http:// or file:// */
    myCues.onLoad = function(success) {
    if (success) {
    convertCues(myCues); // Function located at end of script
    myCues.load("darjeeling_external.flv_markers.xml"); //change
    these filenames
    my_FLVPlybk.contentPath = "darjeeling_external.flv"; // to
    match your own
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    listenerObject.cuePoint = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
    trace("Cue Point \"" + eventObject.info.name + "\" fired at:
    " + eventObject.info.time+ " (type: " + eventObject.info.type+")");
    currentCuePoint.text = (eventObject.info.time + " seconds:
    Cue Point \"" + eventObject.info.name + "\" (type: " +
    eventObject.info.type+")");
    my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener("cuePoint", listenerObject);
    function convertCues(cueFile) {
    for (i=0; i < cueFile.firstChild.childNodes.length; i++) {
    curCueTime = (Number(cueFile.firstChild.childNodes
    .firstChild.firstChild.nodeValue)/1000);
    curCueName =
    cueFile.firstChild.childNodes.firstChild.nextSibling.nextSibling.firstChild.nodeValue;
    trace("Adding Cue " + i + " at time: " + curCueTime + "
    named: \"" + curCueName + "\"");
    my_FLVPlybk.addASCuePoint(curCueTime, curCueName);
    Here's a similar block of code, but to display embedded cue
    points in your FLV files:
    Actionscript 2.0 based Flash Cue Point Data Exchange
    Demonstration
    Requires:
    - FLVPlayback component on the Stage with an instance name of
    my_FLVPlybk
    - Dynamic Text Field on the Stage with an instance name of
    currentCuePoint
    var myCues:XML = new XML(); //Create XML Object
    var curCueTime:Number = 0; //Set current cue point to 0
    var curCueName:String = ""; //Set current cue point name to
    my_FLVPlybk.contentPath = "darjeeling_embedded.flv";
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    listenerObject.cuePoint = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
    trace("Cue Point \"" + eventObject.info.name + "\" fired at:
    " + eventObject.info.time+ " (type: " + eventObject.info.type+")");
    currentCuePoint.text = (eventObject.info.time + " seconds:
    Cue Point \"" + eventObject.info.name + "\" (type: " +
    eventObject.info.type+")");
    my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener("cuePoint", listenerObject);
    There is a known bug in Adobe Media Encoder that prevents cue
    points from being embedded in an audio-only FLV. It isn't clear
    that's the case you're seeing, but if you disabled video export
    when you created the FLV, that may explain the problem you're
    seeing.

  • Help me to achieve my goal: creating a dynamic CQ5 website from a CRX Imported Site

    Hello everyone.
    For two weeks now, i'm trying to create a dynamic content CQ5 website from an imported CRX site.
    What I already did and where I am now:
    Step 1 - I have imported a website using the CRX Import Site tool.
    Step 2 - I have done some mappings in my imported site images and texts. In the CRX content repository estructure, I can found the mappings as
    unstructured nodes, at "etc/designs/mysite/dev/mappings", the component properties matching the components I selected in the component extractor;
    Step 3 - I have done some extractions in my imported site images and texts. In the CRX content repository estructure, I can found the extracted components
    at "apps/mysite/resources/images" (the last two ones I created myself);
    Step 4 - After done all these steps, I acessed the Web Sites CQ5 menu and selected the "New Site" option, in the "New..." button. A "MySite Blueprint" is avaliable
    to be selected as a Blue Print to my new site, but If I select this one and create my new site, not all the mapped components can be manipulated or selected and some
    mappings just show on as an empty selection box in the page, where I am able to insert images, for exemple.
    In short, after all these steps, I still can't do what I want with my mapped components and the new site is, basically, the same as the imported. Not every mapped components can be selected and edited and I can't change my site template or content (the far I got here is add a new image in the site, but without the liberty to change the position).
    So, what I'm forgetting? Is there some step that I don't getting through? Maybe I need to work on the template created by the site importer?
    Is there some material or media that can help me or maybe add knowledge to me?
    Already read the "Site importer" and "Components" in Adobe CQ5 Documentation but don't get me far from where I am now.
    If someone can help me to make this process better, with more liberty on my new site and the possibility to control all the components, adding new ones
    or editing the existent ones, I'll be very gratefull and with a great new knowledge.
    Operational System: Windows Server 2008
    CQ Version: CQ 5.4.0.20110218
    Thanks.

    I want to do this using the site importer because I want to show my clients how we can make content management and experience customizations a lot easier starting by their own websites.
    So, importing my customer website and transforming it in a new CQ website is the way to show this.
    Anyway, thanks in advance and I'm going to look at the page component for the website that I imported.
    If someone got another tip or hint, I'll be very thankfull.

  • LR2 and importing keywords from CS3 Bridge

    I've just started a 30 day LR trial and need some guidance, please, on successfully importing keywords from CS3 Bridge so that the complete heirarchy survives intact.
    I've just imported the keywords to LR2 and found the heirarchy is mostly destroyed.
    Also, Bridge allows you put a keyword inside "[ ]"  (square brackets) if you want/need that word in the heirarchy but do not want it to be copied to the metadata.  After importing to LR2, all the square brackets have gone.
    I've imported some photos into LR2 but, when I look at their keywords, all the words which were within square brackets (and so not visible in the metadata in Bridge) are now visible in the metadata in LR2.
    Anyone found a solution to this, please?  I really don't want to have to re-keyword everything if there's another way.
    Thanks,  John Walmsley

    Ginger
    I ran a test for you. Started up my old computer that has windows XP OS. Took a photo and added a keyword by right clicking as your previous post outlined. I then looked at photo in Bridge CS3 on old machine. There was no keyword. Copied to flash drive and looked at photo on Vista computer with Bridge CS3. Still no keyword. Ran a search on Vista advanced for keyword on flash drive, and it gave a hit.
    So my conclusion is that the keyword is there, but Bridge does not read the XP generated keyword. It will read a keyword generated by same method in Vista. Don't know what else to suggest. Don't have CS4 so do not know it that works or not.
    Perhaps with these clues someone else can figure it out.
    Good luck

  • Seasons Greetings. How do I keep firefox 4 from disallowing my most important sites?

    Question
    Seasons Greetings. How do I keep firefox 4 from disallowing my most important sites? All the garbage, it lets sail right in, but my bank accounts and library accounts are not allowed. Why is this? I have looked in the help section and tried the permissions manager, but when I type about:permissions in the location bar, I receive the following error, "The URL is not valid and cannot be located." Thanks for any useful information.

    Thanks for responding. Sorry I wasn't very precise. When attempting to navigate to one of these sites, a message at the top of the screen appears, "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." Then there is a dialog box which says, "Allow." Once I 'allow' it, the page I'm trying to open does so. This only occurs with certain pages, and usually pages that I need open without any computer interference. I hope this clarifies things. Again, thanks for taking your time to respond.
