Importing Slideshow into DW

I am a newbie to FW. I have created several slideshows of my
photography. I have yet to figure out how to import these shows
into DW. Help is appreciated.

How did you make the slideshows? Did you build in FW using
the Slideshow
command?
If so, it creates a Flash file an XML file and images. In DW
Insert Flash
and select the Flash file. Save your document in the same
folder as your
slideshow andit will work great.

  • Slideshow doesn't import correctly into iDVD

Hi all. I posted this in an iDVD forum and got no responses. I thought I'd post it here too, just in case anyone has an idea. I have created some excellent slideshows in iPhoto. They are put to music from iTunes. The slideshows contain multiple adjustments to timing so the photos flow along in time with the music. I get them to where the transitions are perfect in iPhoto then export the slideshow to iDVD. When I watch them in iDVD, the timing has changed so the transitions and timing between pictures doesn't correspond to the music anymore. Sometimes a photo transition is off just a second, sometimes more. But the errors accumulate through the whole slideshow, so by the end it's not right at all.
Is there any way that I get get the slideshows into iDVD without losing the perfect timing that I worked so hard to get just right in iPhoto? Thanks to anyone who has any ideas, and happy holidays!

    Stephen:
The issue is with Quicktime and its encoding of the transitions. They always don't end up the same length in time. If you need that precise timing I suggest you create the slideshow in iMovie HD (6) where you can add multiple tracks, trim them to length, etc. with great precision. Export the resulting movie to iDVD from iMovie.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Importing iphoto slideshows into imovie without degradation?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can not find an answer... I have created slideshows in iphoto and when I export/import into imovie they are horrible degraded and pixelated. Is there any way to import them and keep their quality from iphoto? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I know I can do Ken Burns on pictures directly in Imovie, but I would have to re-edit all of my portrait oriented photos so that they aren't cropped when the KB effect is applied and I'd rather not - I am happy with how the slideshows turn out in iphoto - if only they didn't look horrible once exported!

I exported my slideshows as quicktime movies and imported them into iMovie as movie clips. They look good in playback. Of course I'm having other problems laying music over it, but it may be a problem unrelated to the Quicktime .mov files.

  • Audiio problems importing slideshow from iphoto into idvd

Hello everyone, I'm new at creating slide shows and videos. I'm creating a montage for a party.
I have created a slides how in iphoto 09, exported it, then opened it in idvd 09. Every time, something gets screwed up in the music I had chosen to play along with the slides how. Usually the first song plays fine, then the second song plays part way, then the first song starts up again.
So, I tried exporting the slide show without audio, figuring I could add it in idvd. However, because it is importing the slide show as a video, I can't seem to get the "audio well" button or any way to add audio to the slide show.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add sound? I have also tried saving the slide show as a quicktime movie, but can't seem to import it into either imovie or idvd. Help!!
    Thanks very much.
    my equipment: macbook pro/os x 10.6.4/ 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo/4 gb memory

Try this possible solution from acgray on Mac OS X Hints:
I have worked with many users who like to take iPhoto albums and make DVDs of them with iDVD. However, one very annoying bug (feature?) has to do with the fact that when you are in iDVD, it randomizes the sort order of the Photos in your album. Not only that, but it is painstaking and time consuming changing the order in iDVD.
    My solution..
Select All in the album in iPhoto you want to use in iDVD as a slideshow. Then use File -> Export -> File Export. The secret is to select "Use Album Name" as this will rename the images in sequential order, based on the order that you put them in. Save them in their own new folder somehwere easy to find (ie on the Desktop).
Then, in iDVD, either drag, or I believe you can import the entire folder into the Slideshow project window, and voila! your slides are in order. I believe you can throw away the folder with the exported images as they should now be saved into the Project, but don't quote me on that.

  • Can I Import iPhoto slideshow into FCP?

I wish to import a slideshow of a wedding to add to DV footage which ultimately wil be exported to iDVD. Trouble is, every time I import the slideshow it requires contstant rendering, and no matter how much I tweak the sequence settings- it still causes problems ie- constantly requires rendering, won't play properly- PAINFULLY slow... grrr. Any help appreciated in finding the right button? Be kind! I am sure the answer must be transparently obvious, but my manuals have not helped
    Ta again
    Martin

Many thanks for your help- my problem with iPhoto was that I could only create a sideshow with one music track-when a very long slideshow needed 3. I managed to export the slideshow using compressor turning the long slideshow into a DV file which FCP happily accepted. No doubt there is an easier way but I did not find it.
Guess I'm the guy who goes for the scenic route
    ta again for your thoughts

  • Import iphoto slideshow into ipad

Is it possible to import an iPhoto slideshow into an iPad?

    Hi Constance,
You would first need to export the slideshow from iPhoto as a Quicktime movie.
Then you can view it on your iPad.
    Here's how:
    iPhoto '11: Export a slideshow
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2428?viewlocale=en_US
iPhoto '11: View photos or slideshows on iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2437?viewlocale=en_US
    Hope this information helps ...

  • PSE5 slideshow won't import properly into PSE8

    Hi,
I have a number of large slide shows created in PSE5 which function properly in PSE5 but won't import properly into PSE8.  All of the transitions, pans, and zooms are there (from the .psess file), but all of the photos are blank (black).  Ocasionally there's totally unrelated photo in one of the black slots.
I've read numerous posts here and in the Village but so far I've not been able to resolve the issue.
What I suspect is that something in the structure of the PSE5 access database (Catalog) is corrupt preventing the proper transfer of slideshow details into the PSE8 SQLite dabase.
I've spent numerous hours trying to kick-out a solution but so far nothing has worked.  Here's what I've tried so far (all with copies of the original database).
    1) In PSE5 I've removed all slideshows, creations, albums, and photos except for one single slideshow.  Import to PSE8 fails.
    2) Numerous catalog recoveries, optimizations, and repairs both before and after conversion to PSE8.  No joy.
    3) Database investigations with Mr. Ellis' psedbtool.  Nothing wrong is ever reported.  I can't really deduce what has been corrupted.
    4) Create New slideshow in PSE5 and convert to PSE8.  Some success since most photos make it through but some photos are complete un-related.
The ONLY thing that as worked is the following:
Create New Catalog in PSE5.   Create New slideshow in PSE5.  Convert to PSE8.  Slide show works fine in PSE8.
I'm hoping that someone can help me determine how to fix the PSE5 access database or find a way to kick the slideshows out of the corrupt PSE5 catalog so that it converts properly to PSE8.
Thanks, in advance, for anyone who takes on this challenge and will lend a hand.  Throw some ideas out there and I'll give them a try.
    Paul

Are you creating a standard menu or a layered menu? I would warn you that there are a lot of problems with layered menus. They are best avoided.
    There is a tutorial on creating custom shapes at;
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/shapes_droptemplates.html
But you are really best off creating your entire background in Photoshop and importing it as one piece.

  • Hi, I was importing pictures into iPhoto from my sd card and suddenly iPhoto quit.  Now it just won't open.  When I click on the iphoto icon in the dock, nothing happens!  Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?

Hi, I was importing pictures into iPhoto from my sd card and suddenly iPhoto quit.  Now it just won't open.  When I click on the iphoto icon in the dock, nothing happens!  Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it does then your current library has been damaged and should be repaired: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I want to turn a slideshow into a book, exactly as the pictures appear in the slideshow

I want to turn a 292 picture slideshow into a 100 page book, exactly as the pictures appear in the slideshow.  When I create the book the pictures are not in the order of the slideshow.  How do I fix this?  thanks

The book imports the photos based on creation date.  If you have your photos in an album in the order you want them select them all and go to the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option. Add 1 minute between each photo:
Do not modify the original files.
Now when you create a new book with those photos they will be ordered in the order you had them in that album.

  • Merging slideshows into ONE imovie

Please help, I created 4 individual slideshows in iphoto, each with one song. I then saved them as movies, and imported them into imovie. I was told this is the easiest way, which YES IT WAS!! Now I'm wondering how I can have them play one after the other in one movie.
I have each slideshow pulled up in the boxes on the right side and then I drag them into the area where it says build a project but when I play it, it only plays the one that is highlighted in blue. Is there a way that I can have each play in order without stopping? That is what I want to accomplish, so I can import it into idvd to burn. This is for my brother's wedding rehearsal dinner Dec 10th so I'd be SO relieved to figure this out. This is my first MAC, so I'm new to all of this stuff. Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the wordy description!

I'm wondering how I can have them play one after the other in one movie.
Why not import them individually into iDVD and select them from menu buttons? Unless, of course, you only ever want to play the full set.
However it is worth solving the original query then you could put five movies on the DVD, one composit and four components.

  • Importing photos into iPhoto 9 already geotagged in Picasa 3.5

Is it possible to import photos into iPhoto 9 that have already been geotagged in Picasa 3.5?
The Goetagging in Picasa seems (to me) to be easier to use (close integration with Google Earth, but the look and feel of the iPhoto app, slideshows and printing options are far better in iPhoto. (just my personal opinion - maybe not shared by all!)
Are the photos tagged by Picasa in such a way that the lat/long info is embedded in the file and readable by iPhoto?

I have no idea if Picassa "properly" tags the photos or not (i.e. puts the data into the photo's exif). I guess you could simply tag on then add it to iPhoto and see if the location sticks.
But as an aside, I use Graphic Converter (CG) to, among a number of tasks, Geotag my photos before I add them to iPhoto. GeoTagging can be done with a GPS data log file or you can also Geotag them using Google Earth, which you may prefer. CG definitely tags them correctly and when I later add them to iPhoto the locations are correct.

  • Insert an iPhoto SlideShow into iDVD

I do not succeed in inserting a SlideShow from iPhoto into iDVD including audio and slide effects. Only pictures will be inserted. Even exporting the slideshow from iPhoto into a QuickTime movie is losing the audio and slide effects. Can anyone give some advice what's going wrong?
    Message was edited by: hherb

You cannot import an iPhoto Slideshow into iDVD and keep the audio and transition effects from iPhoto.
    See this: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8828619&#8828619
You need to create the slideshow directly in iDVD, and add the audio and transitions from withing iDVD.
Your transitions must be the same between the photos.
It is reported here that you can do this with Quick Time: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10356386&#10356386
Have a look at these threads, for using iPhoto and iMovie: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2299375&tstart=0

  • Cannot import clips into iMovie 08

I have a few clips that were spliced together with QTPro and now I cannot import them into iMovie08. I have checked the movies themselves and I do not see any specific info that would cause a problem.
I cannot drag and drop the clips into iMovie nor can I use the import function, as the .mov files are greyed out.
This didn't happen before I upgraded to QT Pro.

    AAC, MPEG-4
For the moment will assume you mean QT MPEG-4 here and not something like Microsoft's non-standard variation. (If not QT then please advise.) In the case that it is QT MPEG-4, did any of the source files contain extraneous tracks like an iPhoto slideshow with its "Tween" track. Such extraneous tracks are not understood by iMovie '08 and it will reject their import. If so, then use QT Pro to delete the extraneous track(s)
