Importing song question

A friend just told me that she was just clicking around once and found where you could look up artist/actors/actresses and you can see what they have recently downloaded, who they are inspired by, and what is on their ipod. How do I get to this application? She said she typed in Matthew McConaughey and it showed all kinds of music info about him. I want to find out who my fav. artists listen to...anyone know how to get access to this?

It doesn't work for every celebrity, but there's a celebrity playlist feature on iTunes. New stuff is added frequently. Look here:

  • Import Song Question

I am running Itunes 6.0.4 and had a question about importing music into ITunes.
There is a setting under the Pref options in Advanced that talks about "Filter Freq. under 10Hz". Does this setting have to be checked? And if not, what does this option really affect? Also, would having this option unchecked be the reason the music I import sound somewhat flat?
I have one other question as well, The option about Error Correction, is this a good option to have checked?
    Thanks

If more than one entry is found for the CD (which can occur if more than one person submitted information for the same CD to the Gracenote service), select one of the entries. If it isn’t correct, choose Advanced > Get CD Track Names again and choose the other entry. If it’s still not correct, you can edit the information yourself.

  • Importing Songs Question

...Songs that are imported into iTunes in .wav format (or any format other then .mp3)- are they automatically converted into .mp3's? I ask because I've recently had to reformat my 40GB iPod (Windows) because iTunes indicated that I didn't have enough space left to add anything additional (but the physical iPod said that I had like 30GB of space left...mind you, I only had like 3600 songs on the device).
I'm adding things to my library from scratch and already I have 337 songs imported (iTunes says that approx. 7GB of space has been used).

I'm such an idiot...I meant .wma files (the file format for Windows Media Player, for example).
Okay, so each time I rip songs from CDs they appear to be in .wma format and the I add them to iTunes...I don't understand how my iPod filled up so quickly, then.
Before I reformatted it, I was getting the following error:
The iPod "Candy's iPod" cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library. Would you like iTunes to choose a selection of songs to copy to this iPod?"
My iPod wasn't anywhere NEAR to being full!
Thanks for replying...I appreciate your help

  • How do i get my ipod to import songs from a computer that it is not registered to without losing all my current songs?

my ipod was registered to my old computer which i no longer have. I now have a new computer and would like to add songs to my ipod however when i try to import songs to my ipod i get an error message that states, "This ipod is registered to another computer." Does anyone know how i can import new songs to my ipod without losing all the songs currently on my ipod?

This really isn't an iTunes Store question and would have been better asked in the iPod classic forum, but anyway, you'll need to reformat your iPod to use it with Windows. See:

  • Adding new imported songs on iTunes to my Library on External Drive

I have my main iTunes library on an external hard drive. My Mac's iTunes folder only contains the iTunes library file but all my songs are kept and imported on my external hard drive at home.
    My question is:
While at work, I have imported some CDs. As default, since that external drive was not connected, it imports all on the computer's iTunes folder in the HD.
What's the best and easiest way to move these imported songs from the computer's drive to my external? Do I erase them from iTunes while keeping the files and re-open them at home when my external drive is connected so it imports them in the drive? Or do I simply move the song files to the external drive and re-locate them??
Appreciate any help on that. Thanks!

    Ok. Got it.
Just need to copy the files' folders by dragging them to iTunes while my external HD is connected; it will add them in the original library location that I have selected (external) while keeping the library in iTunes intact.
Thanks anyway, it was clearly a stupid issue.

  • Re-importing songs whilst saving original song info

When you import a song from a CD that you already have on iTunes, it tells you that you already have the song and asks if you want to replace it. I love the way doing this keeps all the song info; ratings, artwork, comments, even which playlists it is in... whilst still re-writing over the song, which is good for if you want to change the format the song is in e.g. MP3 to AAC.
I am planning on making some copies of some of my dad's albums onto CD-R, with the songs in AIFF format, so that I can then always have a quality master copy to import from if I want to change how I store my music (e.g. MP3 to AAC.) This is because I won't always have access to my dad's CDs in the future.
My question is, is there another way to re-import songs in a different format that still saves all it's info (the playlists it's in, comments etc.)... or is doing it from the CD using the option to replace the old song the only way? Can you do this kind of thing from music stored on a hard drive, for example?
I hope I have explained my question ok, maybe someone who knows alot about iTunes type stuff will know the answer. Thanks everyone!

    Thanks everyone.
In response to Mr Blobby, I am aware of the convert to option, but that doesn't keep the song in the playlists it was in before, it creates a whole new song whilst keeping the old one. I'll definately use it in the right circumstances though.
In response to Michael Allbrit; Thanks for the point about AIFF files not supporting ID3 tagging. It wouldn't really matter in the procedure I want to do, as I actually want to retain the info I'll ascribe to songs on songs in a format like AAC, which I'll keep on my computer, then have back-ups in AIFF on CD (which is good option as if I want to re-import the songs in a different format, I can replace the AACs, whilst still keeping all the info for them.) I may never even re-import them, I just want that option to kind of future-proof my music, especially as I'm 22 now, so I'm expecting that at some point there'll be a better way of storing it.
In response to peeble; thanks for your point. I won't be converting up to AIFF from something like an MP3, only from the original CD version. Good point though and would have been helpful had I not known.
If anyone out there does know the answer to my original question, I'd still like to know. Thanks.

  • How do I transfer imported songs, to one Album?

Hello, and sorry if this is a terrible, easy question to answer.
I recently purchased my new iPod, nano to be correct, and started to import songs. When I imported from a CD, it came up as:
    Track 1
    Track 2
    Track 3
    etc.
I want to convert, al this music into a album, how do I do this?
    Many thanks.

With the CD selected try using Advanced > Get Track Names. If that doesn't work you'll have to input the data by hand. Each album needs, at minimum, a common Album title and Album Artist. Right click on the CD and Get Info to set these, then use Get Info on a single track and the next/previous buttons to enter the individual track names.
For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums.

  • Hello... I imported songs from a CD onto my macbook pro and now I would like to transfer the songs onto my iphone 5... I can't figure out how to do that.  Does anyone know how?

Hello, I imported song from a CD onto my Macbook Pro and now I would like to transfer the songs onto my IPhone 5.  I can't figure out how to do that, does anyone know how I would be able to do this?

How do you get songs into a Smart Playlist...? Also, when I select the music tab on top, there is no iphone button or anything that says sync to iPhone.  That's where I get confused
When you set up a Smart Playlist, it automatically populates the list with songs. You don't have to do anything. Now, you may not have set it up properly, meaning your set up fails to recognize any songs.
If you just want to put music in a Playlist, just create one, give it a name. Then drag the music from the "music" list to the playlist. It copies the information there. And when you sync the Playlist to your iPhone, all the music goes.
It's truly easy, but there is a bit of a learning curve until you're good at it. Keep asking questions here, everyone will help you. But do read the Apple documents, they lay out pretty straightforward.

  • Itunes can't copy songs or import songs from CD!!!!

    Cmon Apple!!!!!
I have supported you from Apple II days, and you release a system like Lion, where I cannot copy files to external hard drive and also import songs into iTunes from a CD which is stopping midway. Ridiculous!! What the **** is going wrong with Apple ever since Steve Jobs left Apple to take rest.
I am super upset about this, as personal and professional users are trusting your system to make a living. I am also having back up issues since everything stops midway.
If you don't update us with a fix soon can I then personally sue you for loss in my hours when working!!!!
Sorry but I am really upset as there is still no fix!!!

    Hey wayneak,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues accessing and playing a few songs with iTunes Match. The following resource may provide a solution:

  • Importing songs

I like to import songs from my itunes into garageband to see how the vocals match with my beats, but i was wondering, is there a way i could import a song and just make it the vocals or just make it the music?? I would really like to know if there is a way to do this because it will help me out in a big way.

please don't post the same question multiple times. see the first thread you started

  • Splitting an imported song into instument tracks.

Hello, I am a newbie to garage band and have a simple question, although the answer is probably not as simple...
I want to import my songs onto garage band, locate only the bass guitar instrument, and slow it down so I can learn to play my favorite songs on my bass!
I just learned how to slow the tempo down on an imported song, but I do not know if there is a way to seperate an imported song into its component instruments.
All help is appreciated thank you!

You can try using some of GB's EQing, etc. to reduce the other instruments somewhat or bring up the bass, but, as HT said, you can not separate what's already mixed.

  • Importing song ratings without auto-sync or 3rd party software

My iPod Classic contains all my Mac iTunes' library (approx 150GB), and they auto-sync, so ratings, play counts etc are sync'ed seamlessly.
I manage my iPod nano and iPhone manually since their respective capacities are too small for my library.
How do I import song ratings etc back into iTunes without 3rd party software or creating playlists (dedicated to the nano and the phone) and auto-syncing just those playlists?
    Many thanks!

Hey! By mistake I found the solution to my exact question i.e. how to have ratings etc synced automatically without the use of playlists or 3rd parties. (Meg's answer actually convinced me to use dedicated playlists, but then, after toying with the devices and iTunes I stumbled on the solution to my original dilemma, which I've seen discussed in many places but not yet answered)
    So here it is:
when you connect the device (nano multi-touch or iphone 4, don't know about others) to iTunes, while having "Manually manage music" disabled (with "Enable disk use" enabled or disabled, it doesn't matter), go to Music tab, check "Sync Music", choose "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" and that's it. You don't check any actual playlists, artists etc below, you can drag from iTunes and drop your chosen music to the device, play it, rate it, connect to iTunes and sync and you'll see the rating and play counts updated. Simple as that.
Thank you Meg, your answer is actually the best, I guess, since having the dedicated playlists tends to keep things more in order, but - thank you Apple! - you don't always need to be perfectly organized in order to have an up-to-date rating.

  • Import song FROM Zen TO Compu

    Hi!
I'd like to know if it's possible to import songs from the Creative Zen to any computer?Or are there any restrictions, such as the one that exists with the Sony Minidisc?
Is there a maximum times a song can be import and export?
    Tell me everythings :-)
    Thanks
    yannick
ps: sorry for my bad english, I'm frenchspeaker :-)

All right, sorry, I'm asking a lot of questions, that might be details, but since the zen micro is not that cheap, I wanna be sure ;-)
So, with the Creative ZEN Micro, I can import from the device TO the PC any song pr?viously transfered from any computer? I'm not talking about the UMS function, only with the regular use of this mp3 device (not as a harddri've!)...
It is possible through the usual sotware given with ZEN MICRO?
    Thanks a lot!!

How do I import song from iCloud bac to my Computer?

    Hey figgysee,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you wish to download a previous purchase from iTunes in the Cloud. The following article outlines how to do so:

  • HELP? Itunes won't import songs without official titles!?!

This is so strange, but hopefully someone out there will have a suggestion. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
I have a pc that I recently uploaded a lot of music to from two different ipods (using ephpod). All of the songs are 'there', i.e. they are present in the same folder as the one itunes is already using to import from, but after spending hours examining the problem, it seems to be differentially only importing songs that have full information associated with them. I.e. both the songs that it is importing and not-importing are both Mpeg layer 3 audio files (mp3), they are also both full quality files (i.e. they are not links of 2kb, but 3 mb or so), the only difference is that the ones it IS actually importing have 'full details' listed below them (i.e. artist and album title in grey below the song title) all of the other songs merely have the track number (i.e. 01, 02, etc). THe problem is not that it is songs uploaded from two different ipods, as none of the songs from one of the ipods and 3/4 of those from the other won't play (also they won't play in windows media player or even open in the finder...?)
I'm pretty sure this is the problem, as after going through the tons of artists different folders the only ones it will import are those with the previously mentioned 'full data' and not those that just have the track numbers- so maybe the question is whether there is a way to disarm itunes 'song title' discriminatory policy, or perhaps a program that will enable me to add artist info to the songs, or .......a better suggestion?

Hey I got it working. Here's what I did that finally worked.
    1. Set Mp3tag v2.46a to remove all tags when pressing the "remove tag" button.
    2. Loaded all MP3's in Mp3tag. (they all had various fields filled and ID3 versions).
    3. Pressed "Remove tags" button. This cleared all tags.
    4. Pressed the Undo button. This replaced all tags.
After doing this, all the MP3's loaded into iTunes.
And I got to keep my meticulous tags.
So I guess whatever bug in the ID3 tags was cleared out when Mp3tag cleared/uncleared the tags.
I wish we could figure out exactly what the problem is though.
I spent a few hours cleared certain fields, checking ID3 version numbers against each other, etc. and I still don't know what iTunes is having problem with.
    Thanks for the tip, ed!
