Importing sony camera pics to macbook pro

I'm sure this is old hat for long time mac users but as a newbie, I need help!! Issue simply put, have v.old sony dsc t10 digital camera (c 2007) recently got macbook pro intel duo core 500 gb. (c2013)
I'm trying to import pics from the camera into iPhoto library?
I tried inserting the camera's removable memory card into the mac card reader.. no automated response that makes sense (yet...)
also used various bits of mac tools to see if I could 'see' the memory card.. unless its described in obscure code, I couldn't.
This is really just me being lazy, asking instead of enjoying my voyage of discovery on the mac but also testing my feet in the support community waters. Hope I'm not being too Homer Simpson but all levels of help would be received with gratitude.

Logging into itunes store on each machine wth different Apple IDs is OK Autorising each others machines with the other Apple ID is OK. This is completley separate from Home Sharing
For Home Sharing to work you need to
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share.
You need to select one of the two Apple IDs you are using and ENTER THIS ON BOTH MACHINES WHEN CREATING THE HOME SHARE.
Home sharing will then work

However, the discs will be for the original version of OS, that was pre-installed, when the Mac was manufactured.

I agree with you...to a point. I knew my 13-inch aluminum had no firewire, but I had no idea Apple would leave me high and dry by creating a product that would not accept DV video by any means. That's like producing a computer without a headphone jack. It's unconscionable for a company that promotes easy video editing and creation as one of their primary selling points to put a product like this out there. I have iMovie and I can't even use it?? Who thought THAT was a good idea? I upgraded to Mac for a reason and I'm deeply disappointed.

Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.

Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.

You don't, your signature says you have 10.7.5 and the disk is either 10.5 or 10.6, has outdated software on it.
Keep it in case of emergency in a very safe place in case you need to reinstall on a new drive, then upgrade to 10.7.5 again.

Those are the instructions.
Open iMovie
Move the slider to the camera (use it as a drop down if more than one cam is available)
Press the record button to add the video feed as a clip.
Edit as required.

I cannot import my camera pics?

I cannot import my camera pics into Adobe Revel. I did import them before but now a cookie comes up. The cookie says JPEGS cannot be imported. How do I change a setting so my camera pics can be imported?

Are you on a web browser at adoberevel.com? What browser? Try clearing the cache and cookies from the browser and then upload. Try Goggle Chrome if you are not using it already.
