Importing SOOOO slow with 7.0. What Gives?!

I'm not sure if it's conincidence or not, but after downloading the latest version of iTunes yesterday, importing music is taking about 5 minutes per song! This is crazy. What's going on, folks?

Don't know if this was always the case with 6, but the download process is more transparent in 7. When I clicked on the 'Downloads' section of Shopping cart it showed all four of the tracks I'd bought downloading simultaneously. This has the effect of dragging the speed down. If I remember correctly, 6 appeared to download multiple purchases consecutively rather than concurrently.

  • Mac mail is running soooo slow with Mavericks.

I have the newest 15inch i7 retina display MacBook pro and Mavericks has destroyed the speed of it. It is most evident in Mac Mail where emails take forever to load. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I think I am going back to Mountain Lion because with Mavericks my computer has essentially been rendered a paperweight.

Yup, same here with an iMac, 2,9 Ghz Core i5 with 16 GB of Ram. It takes several minutes for Mail to launch and display messages. During that time it sits with the spinning wheel and activity monitor reports Mail is not responding. Eventually it does come back to life, but it may be some 4 to 5 minutes later. Also selecting groups of messages with Command/A takes perhaps 10 to 15 seconds, and other things just seem pokey or don't quite work right.
In addition I lost most of my mail boxes and the mail inthem. I have been trying to import it back from a clone backup. I've been at it for about a week now trying to get everything back to where it should be.
I'd love to know just what is wrong here. I'm sure Mail isn't supposed to be working this badly in Mavericks.
I deleted Mail preferences in my library after seeing someone mention that fixed a slow mail for them. Oddly, Mail is not creating new preferences when it relaunches.

  • Active Directory login soooo slow with 10.4.11 client upgrades

    Hi All,
I have a problem and hopefully someone will be able to help me.
We have around 30 Macs in and a golden triangle set up with Mac OS X Server 10.3 on Xserves and a Windows Server 2003 as the PDC and primary DNS server.
Basically, after upgrading the clients to 10.4.11 the log in process takes an extra 90 seconds to connect. The login window will appear but you are not able to log in until after 90 seconds. During the 90 seconds there are "Some Network Accounts Available" but this is just the Open Directory accounts in the background.
I have tested with 10.4.4 up to 10.4.10 and this problem does not appear but once I upgrade to 10.4.11 then the problem comes back so I don't believe it is a server orientated problem.
I also attempted using the old Active Directory plug-in within Directory Access from 10.4.8 and 10.4.10 in place of the one installed with 10.4.11 and this did not help with the matter.
Does anyone know what has changed with 10.4.11 and what I could possibly do to resolve this problem?
I probably haven't covered all the bases so let me know if you need more information.

  • Flash not working with Internet Explorer or Firefox - is OK with Google Chrome - What gives?

The title is my question.  When accessing Youtube with either Internet explorer or Firefox and attempting to watch videos I have viewed before from both browsers, I get messages that I need to install the latest version of Flash player.  After multiple re-installs of both Flash and the browser software as well, the problem still exists.  The only browser that I can use is Google chrome, and I prefer not to.  What can I do?

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Do you have Windows or MAC ?
Which version of IE and Firefox are you using ?
Do you see Flash bouncing logo here : http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Check whether Shockwave Flash Object is enabled or not ? (For IE : Tools -> Manage Add-ons & For Firefox : Tools -> Add-ons)
Note : Open the above URL on IE or Firefox
    Thanks,
    Vikram

  • I have a brand new Mac and it did not come with iDVD. What gives?

Is iDVD supposed to come on new equipment? It's not on the app store and iMovie tells me I need it in order to burn a DVD.

If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11 (or iLife 09)  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

  • I can't get a JSP to run with XP. What gives?

I had an app that ran ok under 2000. I installed xp and now it does not work. IE opens but just sits there.
I reinstalled jdev and the whole bit but no go. Is it IE or tomcat? Does anybody know?
Thanks for any tips or advice
    Owen

Check your proxy settings. Also make sure you can resolve the name specified in the address bar of Internet Explorer.
You can change the way that JDev invokes IE (i.e. different hostname options) in the menu item Tools > Preferences - Embedded OC4J, try different options there to see if one of them makes it work.
    Hope this helps,
    Rob

  • Analyzer running slow with many members

Hi all!I have a cube with many members in one dimension (possibly up to 40K). The dimension has a flat organisation - a member can have several thousands children.EIS and the excel add-in handles this well, but Analyzer runs terribly slow with this dimension. What can I do to speed up Analyzer? Thanks for any help!

I had a similar problem and was told that Analyzer 7.0 can make a big difference. If course I was told that when Analyzer 7.0 was still in beta. I've just installed it on my system and have not had a chance to test it with the large dimensions yet, however it still seems slower than I would thinkis appropriate.

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

I am soooo disappointed with the apple customer service at the local store in Tampa......every time they give u an appointment and make people wait for hours......there was some cosmetic problems with the screen of my Mac book pro....they replaced it but the computer would not turn on....and btw when I went to pick up my computer the representative handover my computer to another guy without checking his id who was there to pick up his phone.......then I had to take it back second time this time they messed up my iWork...I took it back but they couldn't retrieve my history of purchase of iWork...and then when I installed the iWork at home...none of the applications is working.... .I will have to take is back fourth time.....I loved apple products but may be not anymore.......

Other than what Shotist007's remarks (which solves nothing) your experience is not common. First I would speak to the store manager to get things rectified for you. If that doesn't work out then I would contact AppleCare and speak to a customer service representative and complain via that venue.

  • .nef  Files were in LR, now are not, still on Drive, show up in Import (greyed) what gives?

I don't have many issues I can't figure out.  I've been using LR since Beta days... best software since PS.
Anyway working on existing job,  went to folder in LE 4.4 brought up job.  Noticed that TWO of the photos I am needing to work with aren't in lightroom where I had worked on them last time.  NO panic, there they are in the folder via the Apple desktop finder.  So I go back to re-import job figuring I accidently deleted them from LR cat.
Well I go to import there the files are (with the other 200) greyed out as if they are STILL in the catalog.  So aside from re-naming the whole job and re-importing the whole job, what gives in this situation?  I checked that all filters are off..  I don't know where to go next.  I've checked everything logical.  I can open the files in question in PS Raw coverter.
I don't want to change workflow as balance has already been done. I want to adjust a couple things and export the job.  Thanks for responses.

When you try to import photos and the thumbnail in the Import screen is greyed out, that means the photos are still in Lightroom. There's no need to re-import, or other drastic measures.
You have to find the photos in Lightroom, and then you can use them.
You must do all three of these before you search
In the Catalog Panel, click on All Photographs
Turn off all filters (ctrl-L once or twice)
Expand All Stacks (right-click on a photo, select Stacks->Expand All Stacks
Then you search for the photos by File Name.

  • I'm unable to import cover art to my MPEG-4 movies that I've imported into iTunes. What gives? Where is the artwork tab?

I'm unable to import cover art to my MPEG-4 movies that I've imported into iTunes. What gives? Where is the artwork tab?  I'm running iTunes 11 on my Windows 7 laptop.

I thank you for the response.  Apple does some assinine things sometimes and this is one of them.  Ask the planet the difference between a movie and a home video and with the exception of Apple, you'd get 100% consenus on the what difference is.  A home video is something that I shoot, like my kids birthday party.  A movie is something I urchased either via download or a DVD that I ripped.  Unbelievable!   The fact that Apple has chosen not to distinguish based upon which folder I tell it is Movies and which folder is Home Videos is really hard to fathom - sounds like something Windows would do. I find it funny that in my iTunes movies sub-section of the movies section, the movie icons have a cloud icon in upper right corner to distinguish it as bought from Apple iTunes versus no cloud icon for movies that I have ripped - so the distintion was already made and clearly visible.  Now - everything just defaults to "home videos" if I try to import a new ripped DVD - why even bother to have this distinction on the iTunes bar?  WOW!
As for your direction, I do not understand what you are telling me - what Media Kind and what Options tab are you referring to?  I see no Options tab in iTunes.  Right licking on the movie icon does not yield media kind or options as well.  Gping to the source file does not yield these options either.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • I recently imported 2 cd's into my library, and then tried to import them onto my Ipod classic. would not do it. What Gives?

I recently imported 2 cd's to my Itunes library, and then tried to download them to my Ipod classic, and they would not download. In my library, but not on my Ipod. What gives?

This topic is also discussed in an conveniently archived discussion.  My opinion is anything downloaded and not purchased in the Apple iTunes store is not truly compatible with iTunes and/or iPod Classic - all of the potential space - unusable.  I am not holding my breath for an answer nor give a **** if they do respond.  No more Apple products for me, now I need to figure out how to transfer everything purchased onto another medium.
