Importing sound from powerpoint 13 to Captivate 7
I am converting powerpoint 2013 using the high defintion feature. Is there a reason this is not working. I thought captivate 7 converted all animations and audio. Is it related to my selection during the recvording process in powerpoint related to sound file type. Cna this be avoided in the future when I record in powerpoint? Thanks for your help.
I've seen this issue reported by others. Unfortunately I have no explanation for why it doesn't seem to work. Earlier I tested by recording and importing to create a project from PPT and my audio came in just fine. I'm using a Windows 7 PC with Office 2010.
I know that doesn't help you resolve the issue for the moment, but you do have options here.
Option one is to use Captivate's "video recording" feature and capture system sounds. Then play the PPT and record it as it plays using Captivate.
Option two is to locate the .PPTX file using Windows file explorer. Copy it and rename the copy from .PPTX to .ZIP. From there you are able to extract the assets (such as the desired audio). Then you may add the audio separately to either an object or as slide narration in Adobe Captivate.
Hope fhis helps a smidge... Rick

How to import sounds in Powerpoint to Captivate?
When I import Powerpoint slides into my Captivate show, the animation displays, but the sound effects in the Ppt slide don't play in Captivate. The sound file comes from Clip Organizer and is a Wave file and opens with Windows Media Player.
I really need to finish this show, could somebody please help? Much appreciated!Hi there
If the file is in WAV format try this. Click Start > Run, type sndrec32 into the Run dialog and press Enter. This should open the Windows Sound Recorder application. From inside Sound Recorder, click File > Open and navigate to the WAV file. Click File > Save As and choose the Change... button at the bottom of the dialog. Make no changes and click OK. (this action should convert the format to PCM encoding)
Now that you have changed the file try importing into Captivate again and see if it works.
Cheers... Rick

Adobe Presenter 9 and PowerPoint 2013 - Missing Import Audio from PowerPoint button
I am only able to intermitantly use the Import button in Adobe Presenter 9 to Import Audio from PowerPoint. Why would I be able to do it on some presentations but not all? I thought it was an audio conversion issue but even when I convert the audio (when prompted by PowerPoint) it doesn't always allow me to import it.
I have found a solution if the original PowerPoint was a ppt file, follow these steps:
File > Save As a pptx file
Close PowerPoint (this helps with not corrupting the file)
Re-open the pptx file
File > Convert
Save with a new file name (this helps with not corrupting the file)
You should now have the Import from Presentation button if you go to the Presenter tab and click the Import button
I have not found a solution for pptx files yet. -
Import from Powerpoint to Captivate 1.0
I'm trying to simply automate a series of Power Point slides
in Captivate. My company has a standard slide format that has
footers with clear text on a colured background. Although the slide
content comes in clearly the footers are blurred, the characters
seemingly merging.
I ideally wanted 800x600 for best web look, but have tried
1024 x768 but the image still appears blurred. I think I have tried
every setting of properties. Any ideas?Hi steve10150 and welcome to our community
Perhaps an old post from one of our former Adobe Community
Experts will help here. Blurry text from PowerPoint imports is a
very common complaint.

When importing PPT slides to a movie, can I stretch the slide
to fit the Captivate movie frame? I see nothing in help.
In an existing movie, I import PPT slides but there is a
white edge on the left & right sides of the frame.

redvic,
It sounds like you have a slight mismatch between the aspect
ratios of your Captivate movie and the PowerPoint presentation. It
strikes me that you could either try 1) using "File > Page
Setup" in PPT to change the aspect ratio of your PPT and then do a
manual capture/import operation into Captivate of the selected
slides, or else 2) if a straight manual capture would not produce a
scalability problem for the slide in Captivate, you could use the
PPT splitter bars to resize the thumbnail image in Normal view to
whatever you need and then manually capture the slide, taking care
to crop the slide top and bottom to get the aspect ratio the way
you need. Hopefully someone else can suggest a more elegant
solution - good luck!

Hi,
Thanks, your first suggestion worked! I did not know I could
do a custom-sized PPT slide. I did File > Page Setup and chose
"Custom" for Slides sized for field. Then, I specified the height
and width of the slides based on the size of my existing Captivate
project. For this, I had to convert pixels of the Captivate project
to inches in PPT. I divided the pixels dimensions by 72 and got the
approximate inches. For example, 798x546 in Captivate converted to
11.1" x 7.6" in PPT.
redvic 08/02/2005 03:57:09 PM
Hi,
A caveat to this solution: When I switched to a Custom sized
PPT slide size, PowerPoint automatically adjusted the font sizes,
too. For example, I increased the width of the PPT slide a little
bit and my 24 pt Heading font became 26 pt. Our corporate standard
is 24 pt. So, I had to go into the slides and adjust the font sizes
back to the corporate standards.

I want to edit the text within Captivate after importing slides from PowerPoint
Hi,
Background: I import slides from a .pptx file. Once the slides are created inside of Captivate, I want to edit the text on the slide, but I can't; it's all become part of the background. So, I am left with two options: 1) open the .pptx file, edit the text, and then re-import the slide 2) Manually create everything on the slide inside of Captivate. This is so labor-intensive. I was hoping Captivate 7 would address this, but what seemed could possible address it - High Fidelity - isn't available for mac. I'm sure others have this problem too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Maybe you'd better look at Adobe Presenter if you need only to convert a PPT to an eLearning course?
Captivate is much more powerful, but its principal goal is not to convert PPT's. Each PPT-slide is converted into a movie slide so that all animations will be transferred properly. Personally I never create presentations in PPT but always directly in CP. You could import only the backgrounds, and create the other objects in CP. Images can be imported into the library, audio as well.

Imported slides from PowerPoint
Does anyone knows if all the transitions and effects I can
apply into a Powerpoint presentation will remain the same after I
import the whole presentation to Captivate?
I tried, but seems it won't work.... any ideas?Hi avguier and welcome to our community
Unfortunately any effects are not maintained. What you will
end up with are static screen shots of the PowerPoint slides.

How do I import sound from a skype call i recorded?
I recorded a call with someone through Skpe just sound no video and now I would like to import it into imovie
but I can't seem to figure out how to do it? Any help would be massively appreciated!First, open your MOV file in QuickTime Player. Then click Command-I. (Type the letter I while holding down the command key). That will bring up the Inspector. Tell us everything that is listed by the word "FORMAT:"
Next, there are several generic ways to do this. They all should work.
The first way to try would be to use FILE/IMPORT MOVIE and import the MOV file into iMovie. From there you can add audio to your movie. Choose a portion of the event clip, drag it to your movie and drop it on a current clip. In the Popup menu, choose Audio Only.
The second way would be to process the MOV file in a third party app like MPEG Streamclip. Use FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose an audio only codec like AIFF or AAC.
Another way. Use FILE/IMPORT MOVIE to bring the MOV file into an iMovie Event. Start a new project in iMovie. Select the clip in the Event and type E to bring it into the project timeline. Then SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose Sound to AIFF. This will give you a sound file that you can use in another project, in iTunes, etc. -

How do I import sound from digital recorder?
Thank you for helping!
Make and model?
I have a little Zoom recorder. It records to a mini-sd card. I can do either:
Put card into adapter, attach to Mac - done.
or
Use the provided USB cable. Nothing to do but connect it to the computer with it, turn it on - done.
Either of those methods used with my recorder resulted in the files being displayed in the Finder.
So list your make and model of recorder here and we'll see if we can help! -
Is there a way to import a theme from Powerpoint so that it becomes a theme in Captivate 7
I have a powerpoint theme that I'd like to use for my captivate eLearning. Is it possible to import this theme so that I can quickly apply it to my captivate projects?
Hello Kurt,
Welcome to Adobe Forums,
I don't think that you will be able to import the themes from Powerpoint in Captivate.
As the extension in which themes are saved in powerpoint is (.thmx) and Captivate doesn't provide any option to import .thmx file
Thanks and Regards

Importing JPEG files from powerpoint - Please help I'm on a deadline!
I've been importing slides from powerpoint (saved as JPEG files) into imovie (there are 7 in all). I've done this without a problem. I decided I wanted to change some of the words so I went into my original powerpoint file, did my changes, and saved the slides as JPEG files as usual. For some reason now when I import each of the slides they're huge so the words are cut off. I've been trying to reduce the font size but now it's getting hard to read! Does anyone have any ideas as to why I'm suddenly having problems and how I can fix this? I need to ship this out today by 5pm EST.
Thanks!Thank you for your help!
Would you know why it's now importing these files in such a way that I"m not able to change the length of the slide? (it's importing it for 2 seconds almost as if it's a movie file - it has a little play button on the top which looks different from my other files) -
I have a finished PowerPoint that I have imported into
Captivate. The animations have been created in PowerPoint but I now
want to add audio. Can I input the audio in Captivate and sync the
audio with the animation in Captivate or should I import the audio
in PowerPoint and then import to Captivate. I did not see a way to
adjust individual lines of text once they are brought in from
PowerPoint…Is this correct.
Another thought was to recreate the entire thing in Captivate
although that would mean some rework so I’d like to avoid
this if possible.Welcome to our community, Rich
After you import from PowerPoint, nothing is actually
editable in Captivate. You may certainly add audio, but that will
be on the tricksy side to get it synced to the animation. Also,
audio doesn't survive the trip from PowerPoint to Captivate.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are probably
better off re-creating in Captivate if that's your goal.

Intermittent problems importing images into Captivate 5 from PowerPoint 2010 slides
Occasionally, when I import slides from a PowerPoint 2010 pptx file, certain of the images don't move over into captivate.
Most (if not all) of my images have been saved as .jpg files, so I don't believe that there would be problems with different file types. Some of the images may be saved at different quality levels; could this possibly affect the import process?
I can't identify what about these images somehow mark them as "different" to Captivate, and therefore prevents their importation.
Any help that can be provided is appreciated.Hi Rahul,
I would but I am not the original poster. You will have to wait for JDPJDPJDPJDP to send you the file.

Can I add a button in Captivate 5 imported from PowerPoint?
I have imported a PowerPoint into Captivate and added a button. When the user clicks the button, it is supposed to open a URL. When I publish the movie, nothing happens when I click the button. I have tried this on a few different computers. I also tried inserting a blank slide into Captivate and adding the button to that slide, and nothing happens. I have verified that I can add a similar button to a Captivate presentation that is not comprised of PowerPoint slides.
Should I be able to do this?
Thanks.I'm sorry I was not clear.
I imported a PowerPoint into Captivate. The hyperlink that worked in PowerPoint does not work when I publish the new Captivate file.
I then add a button from Captivate's menus. The action on the button is to go to a URL.
When I publish the Captivate file and click "yes" to view the output, I click on the button and nothing happens.
I hope this is clear. Thanks for responding.
