Importing stills at 960x540

I am cutting a bunch of stills together to simulate movement. I have to import stills into FCP at a scanned size of 960x540. Firstly can FCP accept this size or will I have to resize in Photoshop to a different size to import? Secondly If I resize these scans will they be an anamorphic image if so should I set up an anamorphic sequence?

OK. I gotcha now. Well this depends on what you will be viewing your finished product. If you will be using wide screen TV's (16:9) for example go ahead and make the sequence anamorphic. Now if you're not sure or you know that you'll be seeing it on a 4:3 screen then just letterbox it. Hope that helps!

  • NEED HELP FAST!! Importing stills into FCP 6

    Hello everyone,
I have tried searching for a bit, but time is of the absolute essence. I am down to the wire on a project, and need to do some finishing things.
What I need to do is to import still images (from DSLR) into an HD timeline. I am working in an HDV 1080i60 sequence at 29.97 fps. Here is what I am doing...
    - Import the particular image
    - Everything looks fine in the viewer when I double click on it
    - When I take it to the timeline though and open it in the canvas, it looks like absolute sh**. The colors look fine I suppose, but it looks incredibly pixelated.
I have tried exporting the video, thinking that it might just be in the canvas, but that didn't fix anything.
So, it is not a problem with rendering, as some have said where I have searched... It could be a problem with size, but I am not sure.
If anyone knows anything, please post in here or PM me asap. Thank you for your help in advance.
    Cheers,
    Ryan

When you load an image or clip from the Browser into the Viewer, it is displayed at it's native resolution. But once you place it in the Timeline, it displays at the FCP Sequence resolution. Also note that the image will need to be rendered FULLY before viewing. Go to the Sequence->Render menus and make sure all render types are checked ... especially FULL.
Also keep in mind that FCP's Canvas window only shows a proxy of full quality.

  • Imported still layers moving in frame when effects applied - CS4

    Hello
I'm importing still layers from Photoshop into Premiere Pro CS4 as I want to create a depth of field in the stills.  I've opened the still images in Photoshop and created new layers (via Copy, no feathering) of each of the main items in the photographs and saved as a PSD. I've then imported the separate layers into Premiere and have been adding gaussian blur to create a depth of field effect as I pan across the still.
The issue is that the layers are moving within the frame. When the keyframe is reached where the effect is starting or stopping, the layer moves up or down (depending on if the effect is starting or stopping) in the frame slightly, only a pixel or two, but it is very noticeable on playback. I've checked my motion effects and there is no movement applied there other than a pan. I'm racking my brains to think what it could be that is causing this, and how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas, please?
    Cheers
    J..

I've just removed the vertical blur, leaving only the horizontal, and it's fixed the problem. How odd. It makes sense that the layers were moving up and down though, I suppose...

  • Can't import still images into a project or create a podcast track

I'd be grateful if anyone can explain why I can't import still images onto a track like you can easily do in garage band - in garage band you simply create a podcast track, then drag your photos onto it. However in logic, when I open the media browser i can get a photo folder up but it will not allow me to even look at the contents.
Also, why is it that the manual for logic express has nothing about how to import a movie to produce a movie score - and yet garage band can even do this.
    Thanks for any advice.

Have you tried "Working with Video" section of the manual? It's somewhere close to the end...
Logic works with audio, not images. That's why you can't import a photo, because media browser is used to locate audio files, mostly. And sometimes video.
I guess it works this way, you create a podcast with Logic, bounce it to mp3 or another compressed format. Then import it into GB and insert a photo.

  • Quality issues when importing still images as frames for animation

    hello,
i've imported roughly 600 hand-drawn and scanned (600 dpi) images as frames for video. the images themselves are really crisp and perfectly how i want them to appear. i've imported each to play for 2 frames then move to the next. once done, i save this video file as an .avi. i then repeat the process in order to layer the video (using Calculations filter) over and over again, to fill up the screen with overlapped, layered animations. in theory, these layers should all remain crisp, just like the scanned images. i was under the impression that the standard Export... > Movie... .avi file is essentially lossless and is best for editing, however when my process is completed, the final product is muddy, grainy, and pixelated. i'm not sure where i am going wrong, as i've actually done this process before with success.
is there a way to specific the working file as "high definition" or something similar so that the quality is just as crisp as the scanned images i am using as source
any help is appreciated - i am completely self taught in video editing and it is really bugging me that the file output is not how i envisioned.
    thanks,
    DB

I note you specified that the images were 600 dpi.  The dot per inch are an issue only for printing a hardcopy.  For video work, the issue is the pixel dimensions and the pixel aspect ratio. If your image is 600 pixels by 400 pixels with a PAR =1.0. If your sequence is 1440 x 1080 with a pixel ratio ratio of 1.33, then the images must be the same and PrPro must scale up the image.  You can get good images from imported stills in PrPro. I prefer to rescale my images using Photoshop.  I am told that the scaling algorithm in PrPro has been improved.  But regardless, if you are scaling up, you will see degradation becauae Prpro has to interpolate between pixels to fill the video frame.

  • Animation. How do I import still images in final cut pro x (from dragon frame) duration 3 frames pr. image?

Animation. How do I import still images in final cut pro x (from dragon frame) duration 3 frames pr. image? We have allready tried to set stillimages duration in preferences to 0,08 sek, but it does not have any effect!

You can drag your images to the timeline, select all, ctrl-d and set the duration to 3 frames by typing 3 and enter.
Or you can use Quicktime 7 to "open image sequence", select the desired duration, export your animation to quicktime and import that into FCP X for further editing.

  • Best setting for importing stills in FCP

    Hi
I 'd like to import stills shot with a Canon MarkII camera (each still is HD 5616x3744) with the intent of burning a BluRay
What are the settings I should use in FCP when I import to edit and then in QT to get a QT file that I will use in Toast for BR burning.
    Thanks
    Ivan

    wikipedia
The 5D Mark II was the first DSLR to feature 1080p video recording.[8] The Canon PowerShot SX 1 IS followed with full HD in a bridge digital camera soon after.[9] The 16:9 aspect ratio portion of the sensor used in video mode is equivalent in sensitive area to a VistaVision 8/35 frame, even larger than the Super 35 frame of the much more expensive Red One camera. This large sensor allows videos to be recorded with very shallow depth of field for a "film look".
The 21 megapixel sensor is downsampled to HD resolution by only using every third line and 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, leading to concern about Moiré patterns in recorded video.

  • Imported stills come in as sequence

Sometimes when I import stills into my AE projects they come in as normal .jpegs or .psd.  Other times they come in as Photoshop sequence images that I can't use.  There must be a preference item that will allow me to defeat that type of import, right?  Otherwise, what should I do to get around this. I have AE CS3.  Thanks for any help.

See the "Import a single still image or still-image sequence" page of After Effects Help. Note the checkbox with the red circle around it in the image on that page.

  • I want to import still images to make a stop motion animation, but when I try to change the duration of still images, it isn't reflected in the timeline.  How can I do this?

I want to import still images to make a stop motion animation, but when I try to change the duration of still images, it isn't reflected in the timeline.  How can I do this?

    Tonaw,
If you import your still images using iPhoto, then the time you set for each still, using FCPX Perferences works.
You can set the durantion from 1 frame to as long as you want them view.
If you do not use iPhoto to import your stills, the default is 10 sec's.
FYI: This issue was brought up within a month after FCPX was released. They found out by using iPhoto, you had better control of the amount of time your still was viewed.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 won't import still images correctly

I've about had it with this pile of ****.
Brand new install of Premiere Pro CS5. When attempting to import still images, random images will show up as other images. i.e. in Windows, I'll have the following:
    one.jpg (shows up at one.jpg)
    two.jpg (shows up at two.jpg)
    three.jpg (shows up at three.jpg)
Once I import them into PPro, I get this:
    one.jpg (shows up at one.jpg)
    two.jpg (shows up at two.jpg)
    three.jpg (shows up at one.jpg) <-----
In other words, three.jpg is named three.jpg in PPro, but when I bring it into a sequence, or view it, it displays the image from one.jpg
I've tried clearing the media cache, renaming the images, moving them to different directories/drives. Any suggestions? Or should I just get my money back ffs. Thanks for any help.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Importing still images

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/importing-still-images.html

I might be incorrect in this, but think that there is a Ps Script, that will do what you want.
I would ask in the Photoshop Forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop
and also in the Photoshop Scripting Forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/photoshop_scripting?view=discussions
If my memory is not totally hosed, one of those should yield the Script (if it exists, as I claim to remember) for that task.
    Good luck,

  • BPC transport error: Import still running or UJT_TRANS_OBJ version P

    Hello,
We are having some issues, trying to transport an appset.
First of all we make sure that all the entries in table ujt_transport_chg are setting to "D". then we Transport a customizing order with these content. After that we check the content in target system, and it is ok.
The execution method make us fails. The msg nº is UJT_EXCEPTION030: "Import still running or UJT_TRANS_OBJ version 'P' for AppSet is filled".
Now in the ujt_transport_chg  isn't a record for the appset.
Each time we transport, the same error came across.
    Thanks

    Hi Gares,
    Thanks for your response.
Before transporting BPC AppSet, we check this table in QA and 2 records are missings comparing with Des. APPM and ASET.
We transport all the entries of the table in Des into QA system, and check it again. Table in both systems have the same records.
After that, we create a transport via UJBPCTR and import into QA. This takes more than 30 minutes and finaly fails with the mentioned error.
We check again the table in QA and APPM, ASET records have been deleted.
    Thanks.

  • Default duration time for importing still images

    Hello all,
Is there an easy way to change the default duration time for imported still images?
I have thousands of images that I want to import to make a time elapsed movie. I would like for these images to have a duration of less than a second. I could do this individually, but it would take forever.
Can the default duration time for imported images be changed?
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi
Too long time I made anything serious in iMovie HD6 (altough a a very competent editor)
    (Took the FinalCut leap)
As I remember (just tested) it - if photos are imported then it's a tedious labor
to set duration - one at a time. No global function I can induce.
BUT - I would put my photos into a separate folder in iPhoto so that they are easy
to get in iMovie from audio/photo browser.
Then I select (in iMovie) the first photo and double click on it to view it on canvas.
Now I also get a small gray window where I can set size and duration.
    I select 01:00 (1 sec) in duration and Apply/Use.
Then I selec the rest of the photos and drag them down to TimeLine after first
photo. And they also get same duration of 01:00.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Importing Stills into Motion

I'm trying to import stills into motion but it's grouping some of them together as image sequences. How can stop Motion from detecting them as sequences, other than renaming them.

There's a button at the bottom right of the File Browser next to the "new folder" button. Click that to toggle off "group as image sequences".

  • Importing Stills - iMovie 4

I am nearly done with a graduation movie, but suddenly I'm having trouble importing stills through iphoto. When I select the picture through the photos tab, it looks fine, until I drag it to the timeline. Then it becomes mostly a black still with just a tiny part of the original photo showing. I did recently repair & verify permissions on the hard drive, but other than that, I can't think of anything I've changed. Can you tell me what to try next?
