Importing SWF into Final Cut Pro with no Background

Hi Everyone:
I've created an animated macromedia .swf file and imported
into Final Cut Pro successfully just as an .swf file. I can see the
.swf file animate in Final Cut Pro, the only problem is there is a
white background along with my animation. I've seen many slighly
related threads to this problem, but no end solution or work
around. any help? here's what i've seen in posts and other forums:
- create another layer below your object and place a
tranparent color swatch box the size of your stage size
- export the flash file as .mov with an alpha channel
transparency
- export the flash file as a .mov with an alpha channel, then
open in quicktime pro, then re export again as a quicktime movie
with the "Millions +" option.
- i've also heard something about having the right codecs, or
purchasing some other 3rd part software.
none of these approaches have worked for me. My Dream would
be to just import the .swf file straight into Final Cut Pro. I've
been exporting my flash movies as a png sequence and importing
every image into FCP for the time being. I'm also thinking about
just making the background bright green, because i think i just
chroma key it out, but i'm not sure how clean this will be.
here's the related thread:

Thanks for any help.

You need one of these: http://desktop.thomsongrassvalley.com/products/videoconversion.php to do it properly. The ADVC 300 is the best option for the money.

  • How to Import a MPEG-3-ts (Transport Stream) into Final Cut Pro ?

    Hello All;
I just bought Final Cut Studio and I am trying to figure out how to import some video footage that I captured using ArcSoft's totalMedia software via a HD HomeRun High Definition TV decoder. I have verified that the video is being saved in MPEG-2 Transport Stream format but I've tried everything but still can't import it into Final Cut Pro. I've purchased the MPEG 2 Quicktime component but then realized that it doesn't work with Transport Streams. Then I downloaded MPEG StreamClip for Mac which does play the clips on a Mac but I need to obtain the codec so I can import them into Final Cut Pro. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated. Thanks. Tim

    I do:
"You need to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to an editable format, such as those found in Final Cut Pro's Easy Setup menu.
For HD, your best choice is ProRes, DVCPro HD or Apple Intermediate Codec."
    And so does Nick.

  • How to import unix executable files into Final Cut Pro

A friend wanted me to create a Halo 3 Montage Video for him. He loaded the saved clips onto a flash drive for me but when I put it into my computer the information comes up as Unix Executable Files and I don't know how to import them into Final Cut Pro 7.0.2 or if it's even possible. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Ok. Well, I plug in the flash drive. When it opens there's a folder that says XBox360. When I click on the folder there are 9 files listed that say Data0000, Data0001 etc. The preview option shows a gray folder that says Exec on it and the only information I can find is that it's a Unix Executable File. When I click on more info option everything that pops up is what I've already told you. I tried opening it in the VLC Player but nothing played which makes me think there aren't video files on the flash drive. When I click on the file to open it the Terminal Program appears and lists basic information about the file.
Is there a program that can take these files and covert them into something that can run in Final Cut Pro? Or is that what VLC is supposed to do?

    Hi:
If you own the material rights, you can use MPEG Streamclip to reencode to an editable format like DV.
    Hope that helps !

  • How can I get MPEG-2 video into Final Cut Pro X?

Hello!  I have several MPEG-2 video files on which I need to perform some edits.  When I tried to import them into Final Cut Pro, I learned that Final Cut Pro can't import MPEG files.  Okay, so I went into QuickTime and exported one as 720p.  20 minutes later, I had a video that I could load in FCP.  Awesome.  Except that when I watched the video, the audio was waaaaaaaay out of sync.  So, is there a different way I could get this MPEG-2 video into a format that FCP will like while keeping video and audio together?
I would keep trying a few different things without direction, but these videos are like 90 minutes long and the conversion process is lengthy.
    Thanks!

Although I looked up the equipment, I couldn't find what kind of MPEG2. I'm assuming program stream.
I don't know why you had the sync problem with QT. You could bring it into FCP and detach the audio and manually line it up it's off by a constant amount.
Or you can use MEG Streamclip. You will also need the playback component, which is $20. Follow the instructions on the Squared 5 site to install it. Streamclip is worth having even if you don't use it this time around.
    Good luck.

  • Importing imovie project into Final Cut Pro

Hello I need help getting my HD imovie project into final cut pro. I recored the project in 24p and it's already imported into imovie. What is the best way to get it into Final Cut Pro so that I can edit it further without sacrificing the quality.
Another problem is that I have heard that imovie compresses the video and totally ruins the quality. Is this true? And is this reversible in any way? I have already recorded over all the clips for this project on my camcorder. How screwed am I?
    -Michael

First thing to do is find your original clips that you captured in IMovie. I don't have much experience in IMovie, but see if you can select a clip and control click and choose reveal in finder. If that works, open one of these clips in quicktime player and hit command-i and let us know the format of the clip.
Kind of doubt you'll be able to actually import your project into fcp, but you should be able to recreate it in fcp without too much difficulty.
Let us know what camera you shot and captured from. That may be of some help.
Hopefully someone with more experience in IMovie will speak up, but hopefully this will get us started.

  • How to import MXF files to Final Cut Pro with smooth editing

Summary: Follow this tutorial to learn how to import and edit MXF files in Final Cut Pro by converting MTS to FCP native format.
If you have a Panasonic P2, Canon XF or Sony XDCAM series camcorder,
you may be familiar with Material eXchange Format (MXF). Though MXF is a
great video format to record high-definition videos, it is not easy to
use in that they are not natively supported by most NLE systems like
Final Cut Pro. In order to import MXF to FCP for editing, the easy workaround is to transcode MXF files to FCP compatible video formats.
Along with some help from a top MXF Converter, it can be done. To
help those who wanna edit MXF files in FCP without problems, here I
share with you a simple guide on how to convert MXF files to edit in
Final Cut Pro 6/7 or FCP X.
First of all, downloading the App- Brorsoft MXF Converter for Mac
Overall, the program is a professional yet easy-to-use MXF Converter
on Mac (Mavericks included) which can not only convert XF100, Canon
C300, XF105 and XF305, Panasonic P2 recorded MXF files, but also provide
simple video editing functions for you. The MXF to FCP Converter not
only can convert MXF to ProRes for FCP, but also can transcode MXF
videos for editing in Avid MC, Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, FCE, etc.
Just download it and follow the tutorial below to get the work done.
Transcoding (P2) MXF files to ProRes for Final Cut Pro 6/7/X
    1. Import MXF files to the converter
Launch the best MXF to FCP Converter, and then click the “add files” button to browse and import MXF videos from your camcorder or hard drive.
    2. Select FCP editable format
Click the Format bar, and move mouse cursor to choose “Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)” as output format.
    Tips:
    a. Settings- click to set video
    resolution(1920×1080/1440×1080/1280×720/720×480), bitrate (from 1Mbps to
    20Mbps), frame rate (24p/30p)
    b. Editor (next to “Add” icon)- click to set deinterlace, trim, crop, add effect, attach subtitles, etc
    3. Start transcoding MXF video to FCP
Click “Convert” button to start converting MXF files to Apple ProRes
MOV for FCP 6/7/X under Mac OS. Once the MXF to ProRes 422 conversion
is done, you can transfer MXF footage into Final Cut Pro (X) for editing
    smoothly on Mac with ease.

You may refer to this step by step guide on how to convert MXF to Final Cut Pro more supported Apple ProRes or DV at http://www.idealshare.net/imovie-fcp/mxf-final-cut-pro.html
It also applies to convert MXF to other video or audio format. It even applies to convert other videos like AVCHD, MOD, TOD, AVI, and MPEG etc to FCP format.

  • Video quality changes when imported into Final Cut Pro

I have video files that I have imported from an external hard drive that were transferred from an HD camera. When viewing the footage directly from the hard drive, the quality is great. Once imported into Final Cut Pro, however, there are small "flares" (don't know how else to describe them) that appear for split seconds across the screen. The best way to describe it is if you are watching a television that has an antenna, there will be static or interferance on the image. This is barely noticable but I can't determine what would cause the decline in quality. My video settings are set to DV NTSC 48 kHz and wonder if this is the problem or if anyone knows of something else that I should change prior to importing.

Thank you so much for your help! I am technically challenged and STRUGGLING to say the least.
Some files are definitely H.264 and I can convert them to ProRes. I also have clips that are
    DVCPRO HD 1080p25, 1,440 x 1,080 (1,888 x 1,062)
Linear PCM, 16 bit big-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
    Current Size: 1,440 × 810 pixels
Will I need to do anything to those as well?
Here is the question I'm afraid to ask because I think I know the answer already. Can I simply replace the clips in my sequence with the newly compressed ProRes files or do I have to change all of the video and sequence settings and then start all over?

  • How to Import AVCHD 1080/60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7?

How do I import AVCHD 1080 / 60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7? And if there is no direct way [I certainly haven't found one, but I'm no expert], what additional software would be used? I want to import the files from a Panasonic HDC-HS700 onto an Intel Mac laptop [Mac OSX 10.5.8]? Obviously I don't want to compress & compromise my footage.
I’m sure a simple, straightforward series of steps would help many people with this issue.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response!
I'm guessing you've found ClipWrap2 to be better than competing products [such as AVCHD Converter for Mac, Toast Titanium, or Voltaic].
On to the next steps. Using Clipwrap2, would I leave the checkbox "Convert Audio to LPCM" selected or deselected [and what the heck is LPCM?]. In the pulldown menu would I choose "Rewrap (Don't alter video samples)" or do I save a step by choosing "Apple ProRes 422"?
And finally, am I gaining anything by shooting 1080/60p on this Panasonic HD Camera other than a headache? [Some have suggested this is not a True 60p.]

  • Why wont my clips import into Final Cut Pro ?

Why wont my clips import into Final Cut Pro ?

FCP doesn't work with 3GPP, which is basically a cellphone compression format. FCP only works with media in the QuickTime framework. It only works with video in standard video frame resolutions, which 800x480 isn't, and with video that uses uncompressed audio, while yours is compressed.
Standard definition video is 720x480 at 29.97fps with uncompressed 48k audio in a production codec, which H.264 isn't; it should be either DV or DV50 or ProRes.

  • I can't import any files or folders into Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 projects

I can't import any files or folders into Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 projects. When I select import and then either files or folders, I am able to navigate to the drive where the media is being stored, but then when I scroll to locate the files or folders the drive disappears. This problem began as an intermittent problem, but now I cannot import any files or folders. This problem started when I upgraded my operating system to Yosemite version 10.10.2 on my mid-2010 Mac Pro running with 16 GB of memory and an ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB graphics card. Can anyone help me figure out and solve this serious problem? Thanks!

Then just drag the files/folders from your hard drive into FCP.  Don't use the IMPORT option...just drag and drop.
The problem started when you installed an OS that doesn't support FCP 7.  So if you want things to work smoothly, it's best to go back to an OS that did support FCP 7. Yosemite was written without taking FCP 7 functionality in mind, so it isn't fully functional. It might not do one thing for someone...but works for you in that respect. But then you can't do something else. The ways it doesn't work is always random.  Or it might work great for some people, because they don't use functions that might no longer work....so they don't notice it.
