Importing to AE files - goes to wrong folder

I looked in the AE FAQ, didn't see the answer to my question, so here goes.
I am using AE with editing video, meaning I only use AE for some basic things. This is one of those times where my lack of knowledge is driving me mad.
When I went to import a clip, AE directs me to a folder from an old project. This happened once before, and I fixed it, but can't remember what I did. Any help would be appreciated, as I hate navigating around to a new folder all the time. I am obviously doing something wrong with the preference, workflow, or both.
Cheers,
Douglas

You're doing nothing wrong. AE will remember your new folder after you have quit and re-launched it. Ages old design flaw in the way it handles this...

  • Import a biar file into a specific folder in CMS through java sdk

    Hi,
How to import a biar file into a specific folder in CMS through java sdk?
    Can anyone help.
    Regards,
    Kavitha S

    Hi Kavitha,
Have a look at the sample available at
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-6006, for importing a biar file using java sdks.
As far as I am aware of, you would not be able to import the contents of a biar file to a specific folder.
Why would you want to use a biar file to import contents to a different folder?
Organize>Move functionality from CMC/Infoview/BILaunchpad can work for this.

  • Importing CD / adding folder goes to wrong folder

    iTunes 9.0.1.8
Under preferences my iTunes media folder is set to "C:\iTunes" and up until recently all imported CD's and files went into that folder under the relevant artist name.
Now, however, when importing they go to a new folder called "C:\iTunes\Music" - I didn't create this folder - how do i stop this and get it back to my original preference?
    Any help appreciated
    Regards
    Ian

Same problem, installed latest iTunes yesterday to Vista.
Import folder is defined as default iTunes-folder (C:\<user>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library) but it still creates a folder "Music" under this and then <artist>\<record> under this one. If I modify the default folder, it creates the import under that one, but not ever into correct iTunes Library-folder.
    What gives?

  • Files saved in wrong folder

When I use Apple Numbers, open a file, make changes, click save or save as, the files goes back into the folder it was opened from (unless I change the folder name).
In Pages, when I open a file, make changes and try to save it, the program invariably tries to save it to either desktop, or another mistaken folder.
I have tried the methods with holding down shiftCTRLS, to no avail.
    Any suggestions?
    Peter
ps My wife is on my case for a solution.

    Peter
    I think you mean +command shift s+ (Save As…).
When you *Save As…* you need to choose where to save your initial document, after that just saving will save it in the right spot.
Inside the *Save As…* dialog box you are free to navigate to other locations either within the column view or by clicking on the folder name at the top of the window, which will reveal the sets of folders enclosing the one you are in ie higher up the hierarchy. To go up the list, just scroll down the menu and let go at the folder you want to move to.
Also on the left of the *Save As…* dialogue box is your sidebar of frequent locations, you can click on those. To add your own folders to your Sidebar drag in their icon in Finder.
Also there is a *Search field* to the right of the folder name in the *Save As…* dialogue box, where you can look for folders or files to move to.
To help you move around more and have more choices at your finger tips, try:
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7214/default-folder-x
*Default Folder X* is an enormous assist if you don't quite get the computer file system. It lets you click outside the Save dialogue on the folder you want to save to and it jumps there.

  • My ISP is telling me that iWeb is putting my files in the wrong folder?

First time trying to publish a website! I am trying to upload my iWeb site files via FTP from a folder that was created by iWeb. My ISP is telling me that the files are being uploaded, but to a sun folder that is not the root directory. They have pushed me back to Apple to resolve. Any help would be apprecited.

    Hello,
I not sure I understand your problem.
Are you using the "Publish to a Folder…" command to publish into a site that you connected to with the Finder opening a FTP site?
I assume the server in question is a Sun server.
Until I get the answer to my question, let me point out a one thing that could be your problem.
When iWeb publishes a site, it places into a folder (directory) named to match the name of the web site in iWeb. I referring to the first name in the left column. It defaults to "Site". But, iWeb does put an index.html file in the same folder, which should point web browsers directly into your web site.
You can remove the contents of the folder and pull it up to the same level with any problem. So, everything in the "Site" folder would be placed at the same level as the "Site" folder.
By the way, there is a reason for iWeb publishing into a subfolder, because can have multiple web sites in one file. Each site has its own folder.

  • Problem with my program looking for the settings file in the wrong folder

I have been writing a simple FTP file uploader, what I want to do is be able to select the files I want to upload in windows explorer and then right click and click the menu item and it launches the program and passes the files paths that I have selected to it.
So I use this in the windows registry "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\java.exe -jar D:\BenFTP\BenFTP.jar %1"
It launches fine and has no problem finding the files I want to upload. The problem is that it tries to look for the settings file in the same folder that the file I am try to upload is in. Which it's not suppose to do since the settings file is in the same folder that the .jar is in.
Edited by: ColNewman on Feb 5, 2008 6:55 PM

So, you're looking for your settings file in your current working directory. There's no way to set the CWD in your registry entry (is there?) so that isn't a practical thing to do. Presumably you're using a File object or a FileReader or something? Can't do that.
One alternative is to look for the settings file in the classpath. You can get a URL to a file in the classpath like this:URL settings = this.getClass().getResource("/settings.xml");Or you can get an InputStream to read the file by using the getResourceAsStream method. You would have to make sure that your executable jar file contained a Class-Path entry that specified the right directory, because the directory the jar is contained in isn't automatically in an executable jar's classpath.
Another alternative is to ask the user where the settings file is supposed to be, and put an entry in the Preferences (java.util.prefs) to remember that location.

  • Importing WITHOUT 'Copy Files to Iphoto Library Folder'

    Hi -
All right - I completely understand the significance of this command. Love that I can use iPhoto simply as a browser to run through all my pictures; however, if I choose not to Copy the Files on to iPhoto, how do I manually put the pictures somewhere else? Right now my iPhoto automatically pops open when I plug in my Canon. I looked in Preferences and didn't notice anything there.
Ultimate goal would be to manually get the pictures into my Documents folder and then import to Iphoto.
    Thanks!
    Grace

    Grace
    If you think
I can use iPhoto simply as a browser to run through all my pictures
    then you don’t
completely understand the significance of this command
iPhoto is not an image viewer. There are many image viewers for the Mac. Search on MacUpdate. The great thing about these is that they simply show you the contents of a folder of images.
That’s not iPhoto. It’s a database. Images still have to be imported to it, they will still be indexed and - more importantly - once imported you get a lot of disadvantages and few advantages of iPhoto.
If you want to move your pics from the Camera to your own folders: use Image Capture. It’s in your Applications Folder.
Some comments on running a Referenced Library:
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, there are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Downloads going into wrong folder

I have it set up so that when downloading any apps etc from the iTunes store that they go into a specific folder, but they are being downloaded into the default C: Users/my name/My Music/iTunes/mobile applications every time.
Obviously I can copy them over if I want to but want to know why they are being installed there instead of the folder I want to which is specified under preferences.
    Anyway of resolving this?

Use the menus File > LIbrary > Organize Library... > Reorganize files in the folder "<Media Folder>" then File > LIbrary > Organize Library... > Consolidate files...
You can then delete the now redundant Mobile Applications folder on C: and iPod Games, Ringtones or Tones if they exist.
The first command will restucture your library so that all music moves from
    <Media Folder>\<Artist>\<Album>\## <Name> to
    <Media Folder>\Music\<Artist>\<Album>\## <Name>
which is the default layout for new libraries.

  • Image Capture saving files to the wrong folder

This happens pretty consistently. I select the folder I want to download my pictures/movies to and it downloads to one of my previously selected folders. How can I fix this so that it places the files in the folder I specify?

    Hi,
In the Welcome screen, you can accept the license agreement and can go ahead with the installation. You will be asked for the serial number. If you don't have one, install it as a trial application. By default, it's installed in the Applications folder. However, you can change the installation folder in the third screen, if you have a reason. Please see the screenshot below:
After installing, you can't move application to a different directory by dragging. You need to uninstall and install it again in the folder of your choice.
    Thanks,
    Sunil

  • Imported pentax RAW files goes dark

    Hi,
I bought Aperture earlier today and have had nothing but problems importing my images (RAW images that is, jpg files are fine). In the preview where you choose which images to import they look ok (as shot/as in photoshop) but after import they go dark before my eyes (really dark, mb two full stops darker). I tried searching for a solution and found similar problems but no solutions to my specific problem.
    Setup:
    MBP 4,1
    OSX 10.6.7
    Aperture 3.1.2
    Pentax k100d super
After I installed Aperture even finder shows the raw files incorrectly (i tried opening one of the files in a lightroom trial and thats seems to work). Thanks in advance, i really want to like this program...

    Hi,
I have the same camera, and exactly the same problem. Could you solve this issue ?
About images of Pentax cameras looking dark in Aperture, many people mention "if Highlight Correction is enabled, the image is shot at -1 EV exposure compensation, and then everything but the highlights is pushed up in the camera when it makes the JPEG version" -- and thus the solution seems to be to disable this highlight correction. But to me it seems that there is no highlight correction in the k100d super...
Aperture 3 actually clips the histogram (dark pixels turn completely black) with respect to the same PEF file read with the Pentax Photo Lab app or the Gimp. The "Raw Fine Tuning" adjustements do not solve this.
