Importing to Specific Library

I want to be able to import audiobooks into a audiobook file in my itunes library. I can only get the files to import into my music folder. Is there anyway to either import straight into the audiobooks folder or move from the music folder to the audiobook folder in the library?

iPhoto had some big advantages in having the ability to support fancy export abilities (e.g. nicer photobooks, better abilities to print, etc.)
If you still feel this is the case, (and I don't think so) then you can share your Aperture Previews with iPhoto.
It also worked well with the concept of multiple databases, especially when used with iPhoto Library Manager.
As can Aperture, and now, after AP3, you don't even have to quit to change Library.
Workflow: Import to Aperture. It does everything that iPhoto does, and a whole lot more. No need to use multiple Libraries. Use Projects to for each, well, project and so on.

  • Aperture won't import an Aperture library

I have Aperture updated and installed on my macbook pro and my iMac.  On vacation, I imported the photos to my MBP for review and editing.  I have done this many times in the past.  I can export the Projects or the Folder of my vacation pics to an Aperture library and can put it on the desktop of my iMac.  I cannot get Aperture to import this vacation library to add it to the main library on my iMac.
On my iMac, I selected "import library" (as I have done in the past) and it starts a process, calculating disk space and merging the libraries.  With about 3/4 of the progress bar filled, it fails and no images are brought over.
I can "Switch libraries" on my iMac and can view all of the photos in the vacation library.  The photos are there and the edits are present.  I just can't bring them over to the iMac library successfully.
Both systems are the most current version of OSX and there are no new updates available for Aperture on either my MBP or my iMac.
Anyone know how to get Aperture to import a library in the new version?  It looks like the new update of Aperture has a bug in it.

This has previously worked.  I used to do this after every vacation...  Shoot the photos, offload to my laptop, edit and delete, export the library, import the library to my iMac, done!
And that is how it is supposed to work.
Have you done any trouble shooting? Repaired and rebuild the libraries in question?
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
If not, I'd start with the repair option, if necessary also rebuild the libraries.
Before rebuilding check, if you have a current backup.
What versions of MBP and iMac do you have? There has been at least one other thread with the similar problem on a MBP, and I wonder, if the problem only occurs on specific mac models.
Aperture wont import other aperture library files - no error message?

  • Can't import entire iTunes library from external hard drive

I recently had to reset my IBM ThinkPad T40 (Windows XP) to factory settings. Of course, I backuped up my iTunes library on an external hard drive, and there didn't seem to be any problems doing so. (I've had to do the same thing before) But I can't re-import the entire library now! It only imports about a thousand songs (I had about 5,000), and I get an error message saying "The file iTunes Library.itl~ cannot be imported becuase it does not appear to be a valid exported file.") I also tried to import a previous back-up (stored in a different folder, and it wouldn't import all of those files, either -- no more than in the more recent backup files) either. I've tried re-downloading the iTunes software several times. Help!!!!
    Thanks!!!
PS: Is there a way to sync my iPod to import songs from that BACK into itunes?
    IBM ThinkPad T40   Windows XP

This seems to have deleted ALL of my iTunes. The folder (and all iTunes files) is still there on my backup, but now the newly-installed iTunes won't import ANYTHING (It at least imported about 1,000 (out of 5,000) songs before. But now it says all files are invalid, regardless of where I attempt to import them from. (although the names of some playlists import -- but they're empty files) It appears that SOME of the music files are located on the backup copy, but simply won't import. Perhaps they're corrupted?

how do i import an iPhoto library from a time machine backup? I did a back up and i formatted my machine. How do i get iphoto to be the same?

This screenshot shows how to restore a library from Time Machine.
There is NO importing necessary.  One should never import one library into another.  Just restore it to your Pictures folder and launch iPhoto.

  • Can't import an iPhoto library into Aperture

I'm using Aperture 1.5.2 and iPhoto 6.0.6 and cannot get Aperture to import my iPhoto library. I am following the procedure in the Aperture User Manual (p. 112) but it doesn't work. I don't get a beach-ball cursor or anything... no images, no disk activity, etc. This is regardless of the “Store Files:” or “Version Names:” or other settings in the dialog box.
I saw the Apple Support doc entitled “Aperture can't import iPhoto Library from iPhoto 6.0.1 or 6.0.2” which promises a fix in Aperture 1.1. Is this still the same problem? Or is it a different problem?
I know I can drag the photos from iPhoto into Aperture, but keywords are not preserved. Any suggestions?
    PowerBook Al 15   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I recently started using Aperture 1.5.2 and imported my iPhoto Library from iPhoto 6.0.6, so it's not an impossible task. I also had a lot of trouble with it. I can say it was a pain and there were several false starts and once it froze half-way through importing them. I did File -> Import... -> iPhoto Library and I left the files in their current location... but you said this was regardless of settings. I swear the thing just sat their for a good 20 minutes after I told it to import, although I can't recall if there was a spinning cursor or not. I'd get occasional errors about being unable to connect to server at the beginning (after it sat there for 20 minutes) and middle of the process. I just kept hitting Okay and if I had all other applications closed, Aperature finally did it. So... I guess that all amounts to: "I had problems, too, but after several tries it worked so maybe just keep trying and let it sit for awhile if no one else has a more helpful suggestion." Good luck!

  • Can some please provide instructions on how to import an iPhoto library from an old Mac to a new Mac without getting a bunch of duplicates?  I tried transferring my pictures using an external hard drive and then copying it to the Pictures folder on my Mac

Can someone please provide instructions on how to import an iPhoto library from an old Mac to a new Mac without getting a bunch of duplicates?  I tried transferring my pictures using an external hard drive and then copying it to the Pictures folder on my new Mac.  I ended up getting a bunch of duplicates. My old Mac has an older version of iPhoto while the new Mac has iPhoto '11.  Is that the cause of the problem?  Please advise.  Thanks.

Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

So what exactly did you copy over? If it's a 12 gig iPhoto Library then it sounds like the files are there. Perhaps the copy went wrong along the way.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How do I import an iPhoto library to an existing iPhoto library?

I have about 6-7GB of photos stored in iPhoto on an old MacBook.  I want to import them to an existing iPhoto library on my wife's new iMac.  What's the best way to do this without losing any data?  I have an external USB HD, but I'm not sure the best way to move the files (ex: drop the iPhoto library icon into the new drive, etc).
    Any recommendations?

The only way is to NOT import - Never import an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library
you move the library to the new machine - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

  • How do I import my photo library to iPhoto?

I recently got a new mac and a new iPhone, so I imported my photos from iphoto which was my old camera roll and transfered it to my new iPhone. On my iPhone I now have three albums, Camera Roll and Photo Library and another album that is the same as photo library. First can I delete photo library or the other album? Second my more important question, how do I import my photo library from my iphone to my new mac? Thanks

It has said this for about a month now and I would just hide iPhoto since I could not close it. I have not needed to turn off my computer until now. But now it is a problem because I can not upgrade my computer

  • How to import the old library of iPhoto in a new imac with aperture 3.4.4

Hi guys I'm a happy owner of a new 27-inch iMac. I previously had a G5 and I had my old iPhoto library on an external hard drive. Now I would like to import this Iphoto library in Aperture. I do not want to create duplicates and I would not want the photos to be saved on the internal hard disk but in my exterenal hard disk.
After importing the Iphoto library can I delete it from the external drive?
What procedure should I use to make this?
Thanks in advance for your help and answer!

In addition to Terence Devlin's advice just a few words of caution, since merging and upgrading libraries will be a major reconstruction of the libraries - better be safe than sorry:
Check your available free disk space. Merging libraries will need temporarily plenty of additional disk space, more than the size of the library that will be imported.
Before upgrading your iPhoto library, check, if your backup of the iPhoto Library is current. Don't merge the libraries without having a current backup of both libraries - your Aperture library and your iPhoto library.
Merging and upgrading libraries is safest, if both libraries do not have any inconsistencies and permission issues. Run the "Library First Aid Tools" on both to repair the database and to repair the permissions, before you do anything else. To launch the "First Aid Tools" hold down the key combination ⌥⌘, while double clicking the library in question.
After you imported the upgraded iPhoto library into your Aperture library, as Terence Devlin explained, check the result of your import carefully, if it is complete. There may be referenced images, that fail to import, or images synced from Photo Stream, Facebook, or something. Do not delete your old iPhoto Library, until you are sure, that every image has been transferred correctly and can be opened and edited.

  • I just imported my Itunes Library to a new laptop from an External HD with Windows 8 but it does not load my playlists on my Iphone?  Is this solveable?  Would hait to re-build the playlists

My old laptop crashed but I had my Itunes Library backed up to an external HD.  I've managed to import my Itunes Library from the HD but none of my old play lists appear on in Itunes.  I tried syncing to my Iphone 4S that has the playlists to no avail.  Ideas and solutions welcome

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • Can't import pics to library

can't import pics to library from computer.is my 80g classic ipod compatible in all ways with windows vista home premium?

Hmm, if you're trying to drag & drop photos onto iTunes you won't get anywhere. iTunes doesn't have a slideshow area. If you'd like to put some of your photos on your iPod take a look at this support article:-

Is there a way I can stop
    this ?
No, Photo Stream is syncing with iCloud. The most recent 1000 photos in iCloud will be buffered on your mac, even if you do not import them to your photo library, if you enable My Photo Stream.
See this link:   iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.
