Importing Troubles: Incomplete First Tracks

When I try to import a CD, the first track invariably winds up... how should I say... abbreviated. It will start importing, get a little ways into the first track, get stuck there for a while, then skip to track 2. The rest of the CD imports just fine, but I only get about 30 seconds or so of the first track. I'm running XP on a new Mtech laptop. I've updated all my hardware drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. I don't get any error messages or funky track times or anything else that other people have reported. Just an incomplete first track. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the info. I did try just re-importing the incomplete tracks, and it worked the first couple of times, but then iTunes started merely re-importing the same partial track length it had the first time around. But good news: the issue has been resolved without having to resort to using a separate program for ripping, converting .WAV files, etc - none of which I was keen on doing.
For anyone else who might be having this problem, what seemed to fix it was this: I turned Error Correction on, and I turned the automatic import feature off. BUT... just doing this alone wasn't enough. After making these adjustments, I completely closed out of iTunes and then rebooted my computer. I opened up iTunes after the reboot and have been happily importing CDs problem-free ever since.

  • Huge Library and Import Troubles

    I have almost 26K songs loaded into my library because I am getting ready to put my CDs in storage. I am down to about 250 CDS left to import but it keeps freezing on import in the first track. I have the latest update to Itunes (whcih may be part of the problem?) It freezes on most discs, but I have had success with burned copies of discs (mainly MPs). Any suggestions?

    1 - if you have an existing Photo library in the Pictures folder drag it to the EHD.  Launch Photos with the Option key held down and open the library on the EHD.  Once you're satisfied that it's working correctly delete the library in the Pictures folder.  Remember that the EHD must be formatted OS X Extended (journaled).
    2 - you may have a damaged iPhoto Library.  Launch iPhoto with the Command + Option keys held down and apply Option #1, Repair library permissions and Option #4, Rebuild Database.  Then launch Photos with the Option key held down and open the repaired iPhoto Library.

  • Itunes stops working as soon as it reads first track while importing CD (APPCRASH). Need help!

    Itunes stopped working error comes up as soon as it reads first track while importing CD and needs to close program (APPCRASH). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times - also ran CD diagnostics in iTunes and looks OK. I'm on Vista Home Premium Edition. If it will help I saved the CD Diagnostics from ITunes and the Windows APPCRASH info. I've spend several hours trying to figure this out. Any ideas?

    Problem solved! I had my pc plugged into a port replicator to use a bigger screen, etc. When I unplugged it and tried to import the CDs it worked fine. Not sure why I got the error but whenever I get unexpected errors in the future, I will take it off the replicator to eliminate that possibility. Thanks to all who reviewed.

  • First track does not import BUT no error messages

    This problem only appears to be happening when I import songs from cds burned by friends.
    iTunes appears to be importing Track One along with all the following tracks but when I look up the album in my Library, Track One is missing.
    It does this about 90% of the time and it never indicates there's been an error.
    In cases where there is just one track, it goes through all the appearances of importing it normally and the track never appears in my Library.
    What's up with that?

    Addendum to all about this question - I am trying to import my original CDs - hangs and does nothing at first track. Trashed the .plist, no help. Reinstalled fresh copy of iTunes - helped - FOR ONE DISK. After that, same problem.

  • TS1362 I am having trouble playing imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking which is a bit like buffering is this a common problem and can i rectify it.

    Being new to the iphone I am having trouble listening to imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking a bit like buffering.  Is this a common problem and can it be solved just by addressing a general buffering problem which I already have on youtube but have not rectified as yet.
    Thanks Kaz T

    If <alanfromnewtownards> fix fails to address the issue - turn off iMessage and Facetime in Settings.  Settings\iMessage, and Settings\facetime.
    Sync by cable to iTunes.
    Leave cable connected, open Settings\iCloud and ensure at least Mail is on and dsplays your Apple iD email -  then turn iMessage and Facetime back on.  Ensure that in the ISettings...\iMessage...\Facetime page that the Receive at field and Receive video calls at email address is the same address as your Apple I.D.
    Resync when finished.
    If still having problems with Facetime then check that the required port is open - allowing traffic in your router.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
    In some cases you may need to turn on Port forwarding and open the port manually to allow traffic through.  See your router documentation for details.
    If having problems verifying, open iTunes store App on your pad.  at bottom of page, click on your ID and sign in. Go to your Account details (re-veryfying and answering security questions may be required to do this) - check all details are correct.
    Finally right click your device icon in iTunes and select Reset warnings.  resync when finished.

  • Import Only First Track

    I tried importing a CD as MP3 yesterday, and only the first track was actually imported -- the rest of the tracks appeared in the list of files created, but each was 2K in size, with no content.
    When I went to another computer and did the same, it worked fine. Both machines are using Vista ... I am a bit surprised, and would like to know if there is any specific setting that might cause this, or if perhaps there is something that someone knows about that is an issue ... it would be frustrating to have to use the other machine when I will be using the MP3s on the other ...

    Your notebook PC probably has different hardware & different drivers. You can mess around trying to fix it, or as Vixen suggested, just rip your CDs using WMP as MP3 files and add them to the itunes library.
    If you want AAC or AIFF files, you'll have to figure out itunes & the drivers.

  • Import error: First track of disc

    **Sorry if this has already been asked/answered! but I couldn't find it...**
    When I import a CD the first track has a pause in it at about the 5 sec. mark. It will pause for 1/2 - 1 sec. and resume playing... this is quite anoying!
    Can this be fixed??? HELP!!!
    BTW I have tried 4 different CD/DVD drives, same problem. If I rip using Win Media Player or MusicMatch no problems... (but I don't like them!)
    One of a kind   Windows XP Pro   MCE 2005

    Id say the simple thing to do is use WMP to rip it, since it does not add the annoying pause, and then add/import what it rips to iTunes by playing it with iTunes or going to file and selecting "Add File To Library"

  • First track when importing - silent 'beat' 5 secs in

    Hi, I've always had this problem and its beginning to drive me crazy
    When I import songs from a cd onto itunes, about 5 seconds in on the first track there is always a silent beat. It doesnt sound like skipping as such, just as if someone has turned the volume off for a split second.
    The thing is, my computer also broke last week and I needed a new hard drive. It is still happening with the new hard drive!!
    I have the latest version of itunes and I dont have the problem when uploading music into, say, windows media player, and so I cant figure out where the problem is.
    Anyone got any idea?!

    please!

  • My itunes no longer imports cds corectly with tracks showing no music and zero timings??

    When adding CDs to my library limited or no tracks are shown. They appear as time not available? Tried to change import settings but this does not help?

    I have a nearly identical problem. I can import part of the first track, and for some reason, part of the 6th track and then skips over the rest. It shows the play times as a huge number (somewhere around 667 hours) but imports nothing. I cannot play the CD with iTunes either.
    I bought vista home premium and was disappointed to discover it does not come with a x64 bit disk. I used vista 32 bit software and had absolutely no problems with iTunes. After a fresh install of vista for 64 bit iTunes no longer works properly. I can still play anything I transferred from my backup HD but no importing is possible.
    I have tried the error correction with no success. I tried installing and running 32 bit iTunes and it gives me an error saying something to the effect of "iTunes is improperly installed. You may need to reinstall iTunes to fix this problem."
    I have a hard time believing that this is due to a x64 bit problem as Apple has used this technology longer than most. Is this an issue with the latest iTunes? I am going to fuss with it some more but I'm very frustrated that I can bearly use the new iPod I bought. Any suggestions from Apple users as well as Dark Side (*vista or windows in general :)*) users would be awesome.

  • I moved my iTunes Library and now the first track of most CDs is missing. Why? What can I do?

    I have moved my iTunes library several times. Sometimes to free up space on the main drive, I have moved the library to an external drive. I have also moved the library when changing drives and changing computers. I find that most of the CDs I have imported into iTunes in the past are now missing the first track. It shows the sign, but I haven't been able to locate them. In many cases, I have given the CDs themselves away and so I have no easy way of re-importing the tracks. Why does iTunes do this? Is there something I can do in the future to prevent this from happening? It gets rather tedious to go through hundreds of CD and locate a single track for each one after upgrading a drive or the computer. HELP?

    What process did you use for moving the library?
    I have noticed iTunes on rare occasions loses files.  Don't know why.  Keep back ups.  Before updating a backup run a script such as Dougscript List MIAs so you can make sure you aren't deleting your only copy should one get lost from your main drive.
    You might want to note that it is a mistake giving away the CDs.  When you no longer posess the CD you relinquish the right to keep a copy of the music. Also, as you are finding, you no longer have a backup source for the music.

  • ITunes 10 will only play the first track of a CD, including brand new CDs.

    I reinstalled my operating system and had to reinstall iTunes. Now I have version 10 and after I import a CD it will only play the first track then progressively go track by track skipping through the rest without playing. Does it even whether I try to play from the CD or from the music section I imported it to. Even have 3 brand new CDs that it is doign the same thing to, so I have a hard time believing it is a disc reading issue.

  • The first track on an album sounds fuzzy, why?

    Well, I bought a CD today to import into iTunes and it all worked fine but the first track sounds all fuzzy and crackly. I have windows 8 and heavn't found any way to correct this, please help.

    I had this problem too, and for a long time it aggravated me. I found that you just have to keep importing the cd, again and again, until it sounds ok. Select only the tracks that are fuzzy to speed things up. Hope this helps.

  • Trouble with Audio Tracks

    Using I-Movie 11 + Mountain Lion.
    I am a I-Movie Nubie.
    I can only insert one audio track and have it play.
    If I insert one track everything is fine.  Insert a second track and it is muted.  Delete the first track, and the second one will play just fine.
    Is there a setting somewhere that limits the number of tracks or mutes them?
    I have the same results if I insert a track (MP3) from I-Tunes, record it as a voiceover from inside I-Movie, or detach the audio from a regular imported clip.
    I do not see any exclaimation icons (errors) in the Project.  Is there a way to analyze the Project for audio errors?
    I have:
    Restarted I-Movie,
    Rebooted the Mac,
    Deleted the preference file,
    Deleted all imported tracks, saved as a duplicate project, and reinserted the track(s).
    Even download the trial version of Final Cut Pro, but that looks like a lot more work for a simple home video project.
    Something else I noticed.
    If I highlight the clip, start the inspector, push the volume slider all the way to zero, the audio still plays.  If I make any sound adjustments using the inspector (like muting the middle of the track) there is no effect on the audio output of the track itself.
    Any ideas would be welcome.

    Hi
    There are two kinds of Audio-tracks.
    A. Drop an Audio Clip into the Project window = Green background. Drop another and first one will mute
    B. Drop an Audio Clip into Project - BUT NOW Exactly ontop of a Video Clip and You get a small Violette band under the Video Clip representing Audio.
    Here You can add many (in old iMovie > 50 made problems but iM'08 or 09 or 11 - I don't know)
    There is a book I love.

  • Page import trouble

    Hi and thanks for previous answers, but my page import trouble continues.
    I have now compiled a class, myBean.class and placed it in this folder ...
    ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/peters/beans/
    when I use ...
    <%@ page import="peters.beans.*" %>
    Tomcat finds the path, but using
    <%@ page import="peters.beans.myBean" %>
    a class not found exception appears.
    I cant understand why, it it something wrong with the public/private properties in myBean?
    This is the syntax ...
    public class myBean
      private String sName="Pette";
       public myBean()
       public String getName()
         return sName;
    Thanks for any answers.
    Have a nice day / reg. PG

    Jippy, I found a solution!
    First I added the line - package pg; - to the testBean class and placed the file in ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/pg
    The I used the following jsp-tags in my .jps-file
    <%@ page import="pg.*" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="theBean" scope="page" class="pg.testBean" />
    /pg
