Importing unwanted images

Recently I opened iPhoto. It took over 5 minutes of the colored spinning wheel. Finally it said there were over 2400 pictures to import. I have no idea where these came from but they are not even pictures. There are many images of arrows and simple geometric figures. I can never get the files to import so I can just delete them either. Error messages keep coming up. Anyone can help with this?

Quit iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to your Pictures/ iPhoto Library folder. Just inside the library folder may be a folder called "Import." If so, drag it out to your Desktop. Launch iPhoto and see if that resolves the error messages. You can look inside the Import folder in the Finder and see if it has any photos that you do want to import, then trash the items you don't need.
Warning: don't move, rename, or otherwise change any other items inside the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder, as damage to your library will occur.

My photo library is full of imported unwanted images

I was clicking around on my new mac having just imported final cut pro, and suddenly i saw the importing immages bar and a counter running. It said importing 20000 immages, or something like that. I hit cancel and found I had somehow imported hundreds of thumnails. Looks like every operating immage from an i phone or something. So i set about deleting them. after a few dozen immages had been deleted the photo libary crashed. I went through the rebuild function. This helped, now I have only a few immages left to get rid of but even the rebuild is not helping. The image libary crashes no mater what I do other than rebuild libary but that puts back all the images i alread got rid of. I feel such a numpty i simply dont understand the basics of this computor. Any fixes?

Since you don't have a backup, you'll likely need to manually remove all the photos. Before doing anything, make a backup of your library either via Time Machine, or dragging the library to an external drive.
Now try this...
Go to the Events view. When you imported the stuff from Final Cut Pro, iPhoto should not have merged the new events with your old ones. You should easily be able to look at an event and know if it's something you want to keep or not. You probably have a gazzillion new events, so this could take a while.
Another option MIGHT be to create a new Smart Album. I'm not at home now, so you'll have to see if this is possible. Create a Smart Album and see if there is an option for it to select photos based on import date. Or maybe based on Event created on/after a date. Like I said, I'm not at home, so I don't know what options are available. If you can create a Smart Album that just conains your problem photos, then you can select them all and delete them by typing Command + Option + Delete. Maybe Larry or Old Toad can verify if this will will work?

Unwanted images

Unwanted images that happen to be downloaded from various sources are being saved in Iphoto. This started with the new ILife 11 download. Is there a setting to stop that from happening?

Importing Rated Images

Is there a way to display the rating of images already on the HD that you want imported? For example, I want to import a series of images that I had already rated in Bridge. But, I only want to import the 3 star rated images. When I select the folder in the import window, I don't see any way of selecting images based on these star ratings.

I've done that... and I've simply imported everything, then select the rated images (or vice versa depending on the easier quantity to select), invert the selection and remove the unwanted images. However, I was hoping for a more straight-forward solution like the ratings visible in the import window, or the ability to import based on rating.

I don't believe I did move or delete my catalogue. Where can I look for my catalog file. Why does my Lightroon now contain more images and ones I don't want on it, without my physically importing them?

I am trying to import developed images from LightRoom 5 Photoshop 6 for further editing. I am receiving this message and the images will not open.....'Could not open scratch file because the file is locked, or you do not have necessary access permissions or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file. How do I fix this? I would greatly appreciate it if you would respond with terms and procedures that a computer ignorant user, such as me, will understand. Thanks.

I just downloaded photoshop cc and when I try to import an image into my project it keeps giving me a 'program error' Does anyone else have this problem?

Unable to import an image in a signature?

I am using Reader DC. When I create a new appearance for the signature, there is an option to import an image. Selecting that, then browse, opens a window for file selection. However, the only file type the browse window will display is pdf. It is supposed to allow import of image files (jpg, png, etc.). The drop down arrow next to pdf does not have any other options. Is there a fix for this?

I have confirmed that this is a problem on a different computer also using Adobe Reader DC. One computer is based on Windows 7 Professional, the other uses Windows 7 Ultimate.

How can I import selected images from a folder instead of the whole folder in iPhoto 9.5.2?

Hi there,
I was trying to help my parents import some photos from a folder they have created with photos from their holiday. They only want to import select images from this folder into iPhoto. I said it would be easy and they can do it in 2 ways. First, they can drag and drop selected photos from their folder into iPhoto - and this works for them. However, more convieniently, they can click file>import to Library and then select the photos they want by going into the folder... Well that's how it works on my iPhoto '11 at least. When they showed me their screen via Skype (they are running iPhoto 9.5.2), when they click import to library, and try to go into the folder containing their photos, it imports the whole thing and there appears to be no way that they can enter the folder to select just a few photos from what I could see.
Does anyone know anything aout this problem?

I have a (silly) question, I'm building my website on muse and I can't find the way to import URL image.
Are you forced to have all your image stocked in website ? I used to have everything on Google Plus to save me some storage place for the HD image and then to load it via URL in my old website.
Is there anyway to import URL image ?

In case of google plus you can do that. Please follow the steps below.
Step 1. Get the url of the image from google plus by Right click > Copy Image URL
Step 2. Now you need to insert the HTML codes mentioned below in Muse by going to Object > Insert HTML
<img src="ImageURL" width="400" height="400">
You need to replace "ImageURL" with the link you copied from step 1. Please make sure the images are public.

I don't have a card slot on my Macbook pro it's about 4-5 years old. I have a Canon EOS 500. When i want to import i use a cable that plugs from the camera into a USB port downloading in either iPhoto o Photoshop. Can I do this also with lightroom or do I need to get a card adapter?

You need camera raw 8.3 for your camera. It is only compatible with PSE12 or PSE13. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
