Importing using HD Deck-Setting Issues?

I have an HD Deck that says HDV 1080i, and I have footage that was shot in 720i. I'm trying to log and capture in FCP. I'm concerned that I the tape and deck are incompatible. However, someone else told me that I can still capture, I just have to put FCP on the right settings. I'm not sure what those are. Any thoughts.
When I try to capture, I get a message the capture was aborted due to lack on incoming data.
Suggestions? I've been trying to get this footage imported for about 3 months.

Thanks for your response. The deck is a Sony HDV 1080i. I shot on a JVC HD camera at 720i. The tape plays in the deck, but then I get that message that I posted above when I go to import. It's really strange because I can control the deck from FCP, and it looks like it's going to work, but it doesn't. What do you think?

Elements 9-cant edit, save and replace original like i used to. Setting issue?

I have had Elements 9 for a few years and ive always been able to edit and save and replace original if I wanted.... now when I save, my organizer shows the same file # twice. (example: DSC325)
but one is the orginal and one is the edited version.
If I delete the orginal picture, it now also deletes my edited version.
The only way to avoid is to "save as" on EVERY picture and then go back and delete the orginal unedited version.
Did I accidentally change a setting????

I used to be able to hit SAVE... reaplce photo? Yes... and then the orginal was gone and the newly edited picture was now named the original file #. But now when I do that I get two pictures named THE SAME. So I have to do SAVE AS , change file name, and then go and delete the orginal photo.

Here is what DSC_0523 now looks like in organizer: it shows 2 of the edited picutre with the same name... instead of replacing it and showing only ONE file.

Color Balance Issue importing from DV Deck Via Firewire...

The fact that searching google and this formum has lead to me finding NO results, I am wondering whether anyone has or is experiencing similar issues..
For some time now, I have been having this issue, which I just realized is not normal. I have a Sony DV Cam Deck which I use to import via Firewire to Premiere CS5.5. Attached to the Sony Deck I also have a small monitor connected to the composite video output.
The color and white balance look fine on the small monitor, however on the import via firewire, there is tinge through it almost like an incorrect white balance.
YES, I have calibrated and Re-Calibrated my Computer monitors using Spyder3 and when viewing photos and other video not imported through the deck, the color is great.. .It is NOT a problem with the Deck because the SAME thing happens with a friends Deck. I am just using the standard Firewire import on the ASUS Motherboard, although I do have a Blackmagic Studio2 card. This does not really come into it during firewire import....
As I said, now that I realized, this has been happening for 2 years or more. I was always color correcting the camera mans footage thinking his whitebalance was out, but after now attaching an external monitor to the Deck whilst firewire import, I notice the color is fine on the monitor. I am in PAL land Australia, but it happens with NTSC footage as well...
Anyone ever experienced this or know of this issue????

The footage is mainly from the same camera, although occasionally I edit two camera shoots so the other camera is a different model, but this also has a different colour balance after imported.. I have used two identical Sony decks, and my latest acquirsition is a Sony HDV Deck that will natuarally play both. I get the same results from all three decks.
Yes I have rendered footage with no correction or effects and watched it back on a Sony TV/Monitor. Colour is out.
I suppose the tinge looks exactly like an incorrect colour temperature setting, but i know it is correct because when I playback the deck directly into a TV through composite it is fine. Example Warm tone Beige Curtains in a Reception Center look like they have a bad green Cast. Skin tones are no where near natural, again a green cast. I am not sure what is going on..
But yes, it has been there for a couple of years and it just hit me like a tone of bricks after getting this new deck. On previous decks, I never had a monitor connected to the composite and only monitored through the firewire so I always assumed the colour white balance on the cameramans camera is out. WHen I set this deck up, I put a montior on the composite. Yesterday as I was importing source footage, I glanced over and it amazed me to see that the composite monitor on the deck had beautiful rich acurate colour on it, whilst what was coming in on the pc screen, even after playing it back on the TV/Monitor, was horrible.
So I thought, Hell all these years I have been spending hours colour correcting footage that was ok to start with but lost somting in the transfer?? HOW?? I haven't got a clue.. It really doesnt make sence and I am still trying different experiments. I am now going to import through the component and svideo outputs of the deck, to see what results I get... I will post that later.. Thank you all.

Import Excel file into SQL, using bulk copy - date issues

Hello. I have a VB project where I need to import multiple excel files with lots of rows and columns into SQL 2012. Currently the import is set up, using OleDbConnection and insert commands and it takes up to 10 minutes to process all the spreadsheets.
I'm trying to switch the code to use SQLBulkCopy, but experienced issues with dates columns. Some rows have Null dates and those are interpreted as strings and won't import into SQL tables. Is there a way to format the column prior to import programmatically?
Any advice is appreciated.
Note -
If I add column mapping and exclude all dates columns - import works fine. All excel files have date fields, excel files are reports from other vendor and change on weekly bases, manual formatting of the excel files prior to import are out of the question...

Hi Alla,
This issue might be caused because the field contains a NULL value, but the date/time columns in your table does not allow NULL values. Furthermore, please aslo take a look at "Data Type Issues" session in the article below:

ISO MME Data Set Issues

We are experiencing some difficulties/awkwardness with the DIAdem MME data import function. Please consider the following:
1. The keywords from the channel file are stored in a vector (MME_ChnInfoDesc) and the related values are stored in a matrix (MME_ChnInfo). This scheme assumes the keywords are in the same order in all channel files that comprise the MME set. This is not the case as the ISO specification allows comment keywords to “be used at any line”. In addition, many of the keywords defined in the ISO specification are optional. The insertion of optional keywords will result in channel files with differing keywords and the MME_ChnInfoDesc vector will not represent the keywords properly.
2. Is it possible to have the MME reader only load specific channels in the MME data set, rather than loading the entire MME data set? We have very large MME sets from which only a few channels are required. We do not want to allocate time or memory to handle the excess data.
3. There are no provisions to retrieve the comments for a particular channel from the channel comment file (CHANNEL.TXT).
4. There are no provisions to write MME data channels, sets, or comments.
These issues are forcing us to consider writing a low-level driver to read and write MME data. Does NI have any advise for us on this issue?

It sounds as if you are using the MME import based on the DIAdem GPI extension "gfsmme.dll". There is currently a new DataPlugin for ISO-MME on our website that has more functionality. YOu can find this at http://www.ni.com/dataplugins.htm. The older GPI import used variables while the new plugin stores the MME parameters in groups and channel properties. The new DataPlugin will be much more useful to you but you may have to adapt your application to access these MME properties. As to each of your questions:
1. The DataPlugin does not require a fixed order of keywords in the channel files. This was an issue however with the GPI import.
2. The plugin in capable of loading specific channels as well as registering large sets of data.
3. THe channel comment file is optional in the MME format without and format requirements. This plugin does not by default access this file butyou could customize the script to do so.
4. Currently, we still do not have these provisions in the plugin but I will make a product suggestion for it to be included in the future.

Unusual error while importing using Import: Release 10.2.0.1.0

I am getting an error that I have never encountered before during an import. It is ORA-01403: no data found.
As stated in the "Subject" I am doing the import using Import: Release 10.2.0.1.0 and am importing into a 10g database. The first few lines of output from the "imp" utility are as follows:

I can not tell you precisely why you are getting the error as you thought posting the control file commands unimportant but I can provide two general observations.
1. There is no excuse for being in version 10.2.0.1 so many years, and patches, after its release. You should be in 10.2.0.3 or 10.2.0.4 at the minimum.
2. You should import this as SYSTEM. If you can not then ask a DBA to do so for you.

MFL: The dependency is not configured in schema resource. Possible reason one or more import/include is not set   correctly.

Also in SB console we can refer xsds from other projects but again OEPE doesnt seem to support that we will have to make duplicate copies of the resources in each project.It is not like that if you are using OEPE then you can not refer resources from other projects. Just what you need to do is that give relative path of the resource which is there in the file system. It does not matter that to which project it belongs. Yes, now with OEPE, you have to do this manually.

Export and Import using Named Pipes

I need an clarification in export, import and compress of dumps using named pipes.I am using Oracle 9i RAC 9.2.0.4 in AIX 5.3. Every month i have to move list of tables from one database to another database after taking export dumps. The list of activities done by me at present are given below.
1. Taking export and gziping the dump file at the same time using named pipes.
2. Doing uncompress and import in the second database using named pipes.
We are doing compress for space constraints. Now my doubt is whether using named pipes, we can do both operation of import and compress of dump file at the same time. i.e, at the time of export itself , using named pipes, i need both import in the another database and compress the zip file. Is it possible?

Currently have 30K pics on PC Win. 7 laptop using PSE 8, corrected issues and did full backup on portable hard drive plus saved (Extensive) Keyword tags to file. Installed PSE 13 on PC Win 8.1 laptop. Will attach same portable Hard drive to new laptop.

Where are my Photos that I imported using IPHOTO?

I am using IPHOTO 9. I have about 15,000 pics/videos that I have imported using IPHOTO. That much stuff takes an enormous amount of my hardrive space on my Macbook Pro, which is only 500GB. Yesterday I purchased a 2TB Time Capsule. My intention was to use this as storage for all those pics. But, I'm reading that isn't a good idea. I do have a 650 GB external WD HDD that I have moved the Iphoto Library to. My questions are: Where are all the original phtos stored that I imported from my camera, and other places into IPHOTO? How do I access all of those files without stepping through dozens of folders within the Master folder under Iphoto Library?
I purchased PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 11 and Photoshop Elements Organizer. I wanted to organize all my photos utilizing Photoshop Elements Organizer but I can't seem to find them. When I go to Import pictures/videos from "Iphoto" under Elements Organizer it takes an extremely long time. In fact, the dialogue that shows how much time is left and what picture it is on indicates like around picture number 50 of 15,000 after an hour or so. Just way too long. So, I don't know what to do? Anyone that has an idea of how I can better utilize these two programs or just one or the other, would be appreciated.

This may be of interest to you:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

Importing using USB/Firewire

I am aware you cannot import into iMovie via. USB with macs. I have alot of footage on a Panasonic mini-DV camcorder which only has a USB output. Is there any solution for importing my footage onto my mac with this set up (i.e. freeware which uploads video and formats it, which can then be imported into iMovie?).
Or... will I have to buy a mini-DV reader of some sort. Or can I fool the mac, and se USB anyway?
I hope someone knows something, as my efforts so far have lead to little bar buy a (crappy) firewire-compatible camcorder and import using firewire. May thanks.

iMovie 08 supports USB connection for many camcorders. Including mine (Panasonic HDC-SD5).
Two suggestions:

Authorisation importing using DI API template

Dear All Experts/Gurus,
I am not so sure if this issue is possible to do using DI API template. I have set authorization in a certain database (e.g. database A), after that I want to use the same setting in database B. How to do this ? using query or using DI API template ?

I suggest that you use the SAP Copy Express Add-on, that you can download from SAP Portal.
Then you look for Users/Authorizations/Authorizations and check this. It will copy users and their authorizations from one database to another.
This tool copies a lot of other parametrizations too, such as layouts.

"An incorrect PPP option has been set" issue

I have a USB DSL modem which connects me via my ISP to the net.
I recently had to re-install my OS on my Mac Mini to 10.4.x and I then upgraded the OS to 10.4.11. I have been trying and frustratingly failing to connect to the net. Every time I try I keep getting the "incorrect PPP option has been set" message. I never used to have any issues connecting before the re-install but now this.
I have checked, and double checked, the username and password in my network/internet connect settings but keep getting the same message. I also have an iBook G4 and that connects to the net no problem with the same information and that uses 10.3.9. I have checked the settings and all PPP options are the same.
The one thing that baffles me is that when I enter my password in Network and click Apply Now I get 24 bullets rather than 8 that my password has. The iBook shows 8 bullets. But I am lead to believe this is an Apple security thing that shows that many bullets (?).
I've tried uninstalling & re-installing the USB software, I've also tried deleting some preferences and all I know.
Any Mac gurus out there help?

The cheaper of the 2 is only £1 more than the USB modem you have. Try persuading Bulldog to see if you can swap your existing modem for that one.
02 Broadband provide that wireless model (I'm with O2 at present :)) and it seems to work fine wirelessly with Macs. Previously I've had good experience with Netgear routers, but everyone has their favourites. Linksys and D-Link are often also recommended.

Rework using reference operation set

Dear Gurus,
Am working in an ECC 6.0 environment.
Want to create rework order using reference operation set.
Master data created:
BoM
Reference Operation set to which the header material is assigned to which a BoM is assigned.
The settings in OPL8 for order type ZXXX are:
Production version : manual selection
Routing:
Application: Routing
Selection Id: RW (priority 01, task list type 'S', and usage 1)
Task list type: S
Routing Selection: 4
BoM:
Application: PP01
Create a production order (CO01), with order type ZXXX. The system asks to select the task list group once the order quantity and dates are entered. On selection of the Group for the reference operation set system generates an error 'No valid BoM exsists for Material xxxxx Plant xxxx'.
SAP helps says - A reference operation set cannot be used directly in production.
Am I doing something wrong?

Dear first create a reference operation set go to CA11 just press enter without entering anything then enter plant,usage,status and lot size in component allocation you can select the required BOM and assign with the operation.
and create the order in CO07 enter the plant and order type in next screen don't give any material code give description rework and give the quantity to be reworked and in components give the required components for consumption during rework before this you need to give the reference operation set group and task list in the popup and in settlement rule maintain the category and settlement receiver and save the order.
You can confirm the order in CO15 by providing the order number and enter the yield quantity to confirm and save.
Please note that during this rework order confirmation, only Goods issue will happen based on the input given in the components tab rework order and NO GOODS RECIEPT will happen.

Hi, The Set-NaOption CmdLet -optionvalue parameter expects a string and it shouldn't matter if that's a comma delimited string containing multiple IP Addresses. I noticed that whilst the cmdlet thows an error it does actually set the option value for all servers so this seems like it could be a bug (IMO). It might be possible to invoke the API using "Invoke-NaSystemApi" but I checked the ZAPI and noticed this also fails using ZExplore from the SDK: ZAPI Request: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
