I'm trying to burn a DVD full of favorite segments of video. One is an m4v video file I got legitimately from iTunes music store. It plays fine. When I try to import to iMovie HD, I get the above error message, and it asks if I want to open iTunes to authorize. I tried that once, even though I shouldn't have to do that. It used up another one of my 5 allowed computers, then back in iMovie it gave the same error message and started the process over. I see others had a similar problem with songs and were able to work around the problem by burning to CD and re-importing. I don't know how I would do that with a video file if I can't even get it into iMovie or iDVD.

You have run into DRM protection. The workaround is to burn those tracks to a CD, reimport them into iTunes from that CD, save as AIFF files, and then import them into iMovie.
Then they will work perfectly.

iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases - http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1389. If your country permits re-downloads, delete the file and re-download.

TS1389 computer is not authorized to play one song that I just dl'ed.

I am unable to play a song I just downloaded; when I try to, I am prompted to authorize my computer. When I enter my info, it says that the computer is already authorized. When I try to play the song again, the same thing happens. When I check the info on the song, it was purchased with my account. HELP! The songs I downloaded before and after this one all play with no issues.

Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

I just got rid of my aol account...the one which the music store was attached to and also got a new PC. All the music I downloaded from the music store can by played. Each time I authorize the computer it does not work.

That message keeps popping up when I try to play songs that I have downloaded from the Itunes store. This has just happened after I downloaded the new versions of Itunes 8.1 or whatever it is called. I have had these tracks on my computer for years, so I imagining it is a problem with the the new software. I haven't try to put the songs on more than five computers. When I go to type in my password to authorize, it rejects it. It says a required Itunes component was not installed -42401. But my program says it is updated when I check. Any suggestions?

Do you have more than one iTunes account or do you/ have you shared your computer with another person who might have an iTunes account? Very early one my wife and I ran into this issue before we realized that it would probably be a good idea for us to use just one account. If you are certain that all the music on your computer is from a single account try deauthorizing your computer and then reauthorizing it.

Delete the Album including files from your iTunes, then go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through Music tabs to download again for free

Account is a user neame and password with which you purchase content.

Hey all,
First post so be gentle.
I've attempted several times now to play my downloaded tv episodes from within itunes. When I click to play them I get a message saying "This computer is not authorized to play <filename>.m4v"
It then gives me an option to open itunes and wait for authorization. I wait and nothing happens. I just get a blank grey screen while the episode 'plays' in itunes. ( I say plays because I see the seconds and minutes counting down on the episode. I just don't hear or see anything, just a grey screen.
I've never really had issues in the past with itunes and videos, but admittedly I've not purchased any in a while. The music plays fine, it is only the videos that are bugging out on me.
So far I've tried:
-Unauthorizing and Reauthorizing my itunes. ( Can't unauthorize all machines since I'm still in the year timeframe )
-Upgrading Quicktime from 7.5.5 to 7.6
-Repairing Disk Permissions
-Steps in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
-Upgrading my video card drivers.
-Upgrading itunes
Any other ideas?

Same problem. I went on a shopping spree and downloaded some TV shows, left them downloading overnight. Next day I go to play them and iTunes claims the computer is not authorized (which it is), I input my password, then it tells me it was already authorized along with my other computer.
The video then comes up grey with no sound. The timeline runs but that's about it. Ironically though, I can play it through my iPhone after a synch.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest quicktime. Did the same for iTunes after a restart (complete with deleting the com.apple.itunes files on the library. I also got rid of every video plugin I have such as DivX and Flip4Mac.
Nothing fixes the issue.

Apparently not!! I am NOT happy about it either! I had always bought my mp3's from walmart.com (until they quit doing it) & ANY time I had a problem, they had it corrected in less than 5 minutes! Is what itunes is saying to me everytime I try to play a song I just bought. I then go to authorize it with my other email address and it says authorization successful! You have authorized a total number of 1 machines out of your available 5.
So I hit ok, then I go to play the song again and it says. This computer is not authorized to play....

I searched the iTunes forum for help before opening this thread. Thanks, Jolly, for the pointer to the article -- it looked promising, but none of the points apply to my situation.
I did fresh search of all articles, which found the one Jolly recommended. It found a lot of other articles, most/all of which did not include "This computer is not authorized" even though I put that phrase in quotation marks. Article Advanced Search appears to be broken.

Every time i try to play a song i purchased from iTunes a message comes up saying "This computer is not authorized to play *name of song*. Would you like to authorize it?" after i enter my password and click authorize a message comes up saying "machine authorization was successful. you have authorized a total number of 2 out of your available 5. then when i go to play this song or any other song purchased on itunes the same message comes up. i would appreciate it greatly if anyone had a solution to this problem.

Are you sure your authosizing the the computer with the correct account? highlight the file>File>Get Info. The info window will tell you the account that purchased the song.

When i try to play these songs i get a message "this computer is not authorized to play" then I get the question "do you want to authorize" I then sign into my account and then i get the reply "this computer is already authorized". Then when i try to play these songs again this whole senerio repets. What can i do to fix this problem?
